  1. Agreed. I personally think that seeing as how we users have names for them, there isn't any reason the 'unofficial names couldn't be made the 'official ones' Like Yulebucks and Radiant Angels and Sweetlings and so on.... easier to remember FAR than what year they were released in!
  2. Clipped for emphasis, but WOW! Your post got me to thinking. I guess I never LOOKED at it that way. Like... I always figured if I wasn't 'GOOD' at a thing ( here meaning, extremely, INSANELY good at it,) then I wasn't WORTH anything at it. A very rigid Black OR White, if Then way of looking at it? No nuance or room for a sliding scale? Take, for example, my routine struggles with feeling 'good enough in chess. Like... if I lose I don't feel I have any talent for the game at all( ALTHOUGH I enjoy it). AND at that point I even wonder if I should continue to BOTHER. This gets tiresome because the even UGLIER side of this IS that now matter how many games I DO win, I always expect more from myself and it is never 'good enough'. I suspect that even IF I were absolutely, undeniably the best , it MIGHT not FEEL good enough, even then. Like, I always seem to take my failures more to heart than my successes. It gets tiring after a while ( AND even worse when I have had a loss and and am trying to compensate)... and there is part of me that wants to just be able to ENJOY the activity FOR ITSELF without making it into 'proving myself to myself'. Perhaps the TRUTH is that I have been looking at it all wrong? MAYBE,in some ways, I have the same problem @BlueMint does? That is... constantly comparing myself to others? AND perhaps worse even, not JUST comparing myself to others but using an an absolutely unrealistic sampling to do it. ( IE...looking at grand masters and saying " I am not as good as that, therefor, I have no talent at chess?") Food for thought, anyway.
  3. I KNOW! I am trying SO hard NOT to lock myself too much so that I have room for the new release eggs when they arrive. Hard to resist.
  4. I have been watching this thread and thought I would give my input. I can personally confirm that it isn't how FAST the eggs gain views, necessarily. A big part of it is age, I find. My OWN method for hatching involves leaving my eggs fogged until they are about 4 days left ( At which point they are considered ER and can hatch for me the minute they get enough views to do so) They are basically safe from outside interference in that case until I am ready to deal with them. I THEN unfog and toss them into hatcheries... at which point they tend to gain views QUITE rapidly until they have enough to hatch. Usually I do this when I am available to watch them just in case. Everybody has their own particular method I am sure and you are more than free to choose to do what you want with your eggs. They are YOURS after all. I have heard of people who like to get as many views as possible on their dragons without losing them to sickness, I have heard of people that like to raise dragons with them getting views only... no clicks. Point is there are a variety of ways to play AND if that is yours you are free to continue. I don''t get the sense that anyone was ATTACKING you for it per se. I think that they merely wanted you to be aware of the risks AND to understand that things at holiday time aren't QUITE the same as they are the rest of the year. Stuff gets views MUCH more quickly on releases and that is especially true during holiday time. AND yes, keeping an especially sharp eye on them this time of year is a good idea. Especially since as Astreya pointed out, you might lose dragons right now that could mean a whole YEAR of waiting to replace.
  5. This... I mean, I don't think it even IS just speculation anymore IF it is supported with the evidence of multiple people having tested it out multiple times and getting a similar result. *Shrugs* I mean, isn't that the whole idea of the scientific method? I am with HeatherMarie on this one... I think that list is probably good enough that we don't NEED TJ to give us an exhaustive OFFICIAL list. AND as someone else said, if you find something not included well, that can be added to it!
  6. Depends on the Breed! Snow angels, Ribbon Dancers and Garlands are all females.... Winter Magi, Snows and Aegises for INSTANCE are males!
  7. I would say that I support SOME sort of protection , especially during the holidays. That is... given the unfortunate history of attacks often being timed then. Even better, IMO, would BE some WAY of protecting things in trades.
  8. Yeah... Because if someone declines and offer of mine, I am more inclined to ASSUME that it was because they didn't LIKE my offer and were holding out for something else. IF I KNEW it was because I was locked that would be a different matter.
  9. This seems like a sensible suggestion, and it WOULDN'T require any actual 'chat' between the traders, really. Just a heads up from the site regarding gthe problem. And the option to auto-accept the trade once the person in question has a slot open to recieve incoming would be GRAND.
  10. I would GUESS, and a mod may correct me here if I am wrong, that the mods probably only look at the ones that are reported. Speculation on my part, but I would ASSUME that there are probably far too many trades for our mods to have the time to handle each one personally and, since I would also guess the vast majority of trades and offers are non problematic, they only look at ones that are called to their attention, for whatever reason. From there, they deal with the issue as they deem appropriate. I wouldn't think that having a 'Have' section would change that all that much....anything offensive or otherwise in violation of rules can be reported and dealt with by mods just as it is, now.

  12. I would say ABSOLUTLEY! Honestly... I was a tad bit surprised when Halloweens didn't appear in the market during their 'breeding time'. It would make SENSE after all. I am in no way saying they should be there year around BUT if CB Holidays are going to be available IN CAVE... and in their own dedicate biome, no less..during their respective events then I think they OUGHT to be available in the market, too. Think about it! Stuff very definitely is available in stores for holidays that ISN'T the rest of the year.It would make life SO much easier for those who find they are having trouble grabbing that ONE last ... whatever it might be... in the cave to complete their goals. Isn't that the whole purpose of the market, after ALL? Honestly, I support this idea for CONSISTENCY-sake by itself, let alone all the other reasons I think this could be a VERY good thing! In fact! I support this idea quite on its own!
  13. Well, and actually, this is a valid point. After all, we as users are probably more likely to notice differences in the amount of views, clicks and such we get from a particular site day-to-day than TJ is. Perhaps it wouldn't NEED to be an official thing. As long as such a thread wouldbe allowed ( I don't see why not, myself)
  14. This is a very good idea.... though I am not certain WHO is in charge of that particular site. At said, may I comment that while I UNDERSTAND why EATW's owner decided they no longer wanted to deal with it, their shutting down their site because of the attack pretty much INVITED further problems by validating the efforts of the trolls responsible? It set a VERY bad precedent that I sincerely HOPE doesn't become a pattern. It seems to me that giving trolls... and I would add, just as importantly, US as the users of those sites... the idea that they have the power to permanently shut down a fansite ... I think was a bad step. Doesn't it pretty much ensure that, whether whatever is going on CURRENTLY is a an attack or not, there is always the THREAT of such a thing. I'd have HOPED that the owners of the rest of our fansites would have taken steps at that time to prevent their sites from being targeted next. At said, I often use AoND and I haven't had any issues.... though the last two few growing things I put on there were ER, anyway and I might NOT have noticed anything. I DO think some sort of public warning system for situations that seem suspicious, at the very least , is an order.
  15. This is a good point BECAUSE so far as I know, even IF ( A BIG if, there, as well of us know!) you are lucky enough to win the raffle, it means you win a particular dragon ( Bronze shimmer or silver tinsel or what have you,for example...) and you don't get to CHOOSE. AFAIK that is an option even the raffle doesn't give you and it NEVER did! AND I, for one, would love it. IF I am wrong about that a winner may correct me! AFAIK that is how the prices on what is already in the market are determined? Via the ratios, somehow? Which is how we end up with wierdnesses in the pricing sometimes, akin to what you described? Seems like it would be a logical extension of the system we already have, if so. NOT 'ideal', as you say,maybe.... but it sure looks like it ought to be workable,at least
  16. Thanks for the clarification on this if I was misunderstanding. I would be LESS opposed to it if the shards are ONLY taken if you successfully roll a prize. At said, I am still not SOLD on the concept, either. As others have said, part of the whole 'let's have them in the market' thing is to bypass some the jumping through hoops that the raffle involves and only for a CHANCE. IF we have to jump through hoops anyway, and even then aren't guaranteed to get it.... we may as well just have the raffle. A spinner would very quickly become as annoying as summon. I think any number of peeps on here can tell stories about THAT. I personally feel that IF they are added to the market it should be like all the other dragons... pay your price and get your dragon, that simple. The price for a CB shimmer or tinsel would be set high, of course ( AND that is pretty much expected).... but here is the secret.... I'd save up and PAY it if it meant I was guaranteed to actually get a shimmer scale. That would be absolutely worth EVERY shard I would spend on it, IMO... AND if you happen to win one in the raffle, meanwhile? Great! You can spend your saved up shards on something else! NOT an issue either. IF the concern is for the ratios of the colors.... perhaps the colors could be priced differently? ( gold shimmers are a different price than silver or bronze, for INSTANCE?) We don't have to jump through extra hoops if we choose to purchase a CB gold, for instance... providing we have the shards, that is! It seems silly that prizes should involve such in the market when nothing else does.
  17. Uggggh, no, just NO! For me,personally, a 'wildcard' like that would RUIN the whole point of having them in the market for me. The great thing about the raffle is that it really doesn't COST anything to enter ( Other than the time spent raising my dragons which I would likely DO ANYWAY). I would HATE the idea that I might save up for months, YEARS maybe, for the chance to BUY a prize, drop all those shards only to get NOTHING for my time and trouble. So please, no, don't turn it into a gamble which would spoil the purpose of the whole suggestion. IF I save up to buy a prize, I'd prefer it be a guaranteed thing when I part with that many shards, rqather than turning t into an expensive lottery ticket. I would probably be MORE inclined to turn in my shards for something DEFINITE ( A Shiny CB gold, perhaps!) rather than that if it were implemented that way. At LEAST with the raffle, while I know winning isn't guaranteed ( And nor should it be, necessarily) I can reasonably try again every month ( Or at least MOST months) without it setting me back on YEARS worth of carefully saved shards.
  18. I mean.... I can see if someone has an 'evil sibling' that would go on and release their scroll it might be an issue BUT... random hackers targeting my DC scroll? Probably NOT. Maybe I'm naive but it seems that the only ones at risk from this would be those with someone ELSE in their house who would mess with their scroll. AT said, for those folks the OPTION to turn such a thing on or off if it existed would be ideal. AND for those who are concerned about privacy issues and what not.
  19. Entered to win me some cute little BROCCOLI! Hey, IF my name isn't in the hat, I certainly can't expect to win, so... in my name goes! I particularly like my broccoli on a salad along side of its fellow vegetables, carrots, radishes and tomatoes! Good luck to all and thanks, Feesh!
  20. Actually, ADP, the solution you suggest sounds just about ideal to me. I really think holidays ought to be available in the market during their 'breeding season'. IF eggs are going to be dropping in biomes, then it sort of makes sense ( AND as you say, gives people a backup method for getting what they want... if they are willing to spend the shards!)
  21. Yes, we have snow... not MUCH yet, mind you but it isn't EVEN Thanksgiving yet..... there is almost certainly more where what there is came from! A Snowy Christmas is the RULE rather than exception where I live.
  22. I... sort of LIKE this solution to the problem. PERSONALLY I would LOVE the opportunity to have TWO of both the enraged and pacified Aegis, just saying. HOWEVER, I DO get the concern about making it harder for newer players to get older holidays. ACTUALLY I was a wee bit dissappointed that our Halloweens weren't added to the market for the period of the event! MIND you I get that TJ is busy and maybe he just didn't get to it, but every other dragon that drops in the biomes appears there... and this seems a good solution.
  23. Yum! Although they are best as an ingredient in things! Honeycrisp Apples!
  24. Quoting both of these for truth. I Can SEE the value of being able to tag it onto a trade ( And DOUBLE for precog which CANNOT fail AFAIK?). BUT I DO think a disclaimer that influences can fail might b helpful for those that don't already know.
  25. ya know! Other people commenting with THEIR 'tally' for their 'take of Halloweens' this year has me WONDERING just how many I ended up raising!
