  1. I loved Matt Smith as the Doctor. David Tennant cannot come back. He regenerated.
  2. I just tried my first summon, but it didn't work. :-(

    NaNoWriMo

I've been hearing about this thing for years, and never thought about actually trying it, but now...maybe I will at least try it this year. November, I mean, not the summer camp.
  4. Oh, that totally works. What a beautiful cup. I'm going to go make a cup of tea now. :-)
  5. Whenever there is a car crash in a movie or TV show, there's a big, loud, high-pitched SMASH!, then a lot of other smashing sounds, then a tinkle-tinkle-tinkle as a hub cap falls off or something. I've heard a number of real car crashes, and it sounds like this: THUD! That's it. Well, that and the screaming and/or swearing depending on how many people are hurt or killed. Oh, and cars rarely explode on impact. :-)
  6. I'd go with the Borg. The Borg want to assimilate other species. The Daleks only want to wipe them out. The Borgs say, 'Resistance is futile. You will be assimilated.' The Cry of the Daleks is 'Exterminate! Exterminate!' At least the Borg recognize other species as something beyond germs to be eliminated. Also, it is possible to be de-Borged. Witness Captain Picard and Seven of Nine. Once you've be exterminated by a Dalek, that's it. Game over.

    Temeraire

I loved the first few books of the series. I adore alternate history, fantasy and dragons, and this series has all of them. However -- and this is just my own opinion -- after the first few books the series went downhill. I have theories about why, if anyone wants to know them -- with the understanding that they are just my own theories.
  8. In no particular order: Anne McCaffrey's Pern series Lois McMaster Bujold's Vorkosigan series Terry Pratchett's Discworld series, especially the Granny Weatherwax books David Weber's Honor Harrington series Tanya Huff's Blood series -- speaking of which, I know there was a short-lived TV series based on the books, but it was short-lived and made for TV -- mostly for the Lifetime channel, and so they changed some stuff. I'd like to see a movie which doesn't change so much. Brian Jacques' Redwall series, yes.

    Mockingjay

I don't know if I can say that I 'liked' the ending, but I loved it because it was so realistic. People just don't come through the experiences that those characters suffered all bright and happy and unchanged. The ending was sad, but, all things considered, it was true and had its own joys. Oh, and why did Katniss kill Coin? Because Coin was responsible for Prim's death, and also she was just as evil as Snow, and was now the one in charge.
  10. Oh, it's so hard to choose one favourite book. I'd have to say The Lord of the Rings, I guess, because I have read it so many times, and read books about the book, and watched the movies over and over. It never ends. However, as I say, I love many other books as well.
  11. Okay, I've been wracking my brains for a new subject that hasn't already been used. At first I thought of 'water', but no, been used. And it's summer, but that seemed sort of obvious. So, how about going in the opposite direction, in a way? How about 'Darkness'. The darkness could be the beauty of night, or darkly coloured objects, or darkness in a psychological sense, or... any way you want to interpret the term. I'll post my own choice as an example later, if you like. In the meantime, have fun interpreting. :-) The Rules: - One entry per person - Picture has to be made by yourself and can't be just a reproduction of someone's work. If someone else's work is in the picture, there needs to be something extra. - No manipulation besides basic photo adjustments (contrast, exposure, cropping, color balance, lighting, etc.) - No text or framing in the photo. A signature/watermark is just fine, but it's preferable if you don't have "O Hai Eye Hav3 T3XT" (or something similar) present in the photo. - When voting, please don't select your own image. 12. This is interesting. I am actually working on a poem. Poetry isn't a quick medium, though, so you may have to give us an extension on the deadline. But we've still got a week, so I wouldn't worry yet. :-)

    Terry Pratchett

I love the Discworld books. My favourite character is Granny Weatherwax.
  14. My favourite band would have to be The Beatles. They were the greatest band of all time, and are eternal.
  15. Thanks so much. This is a great and unexpected honour, because all the photos were so beautiful. :-)
  16. Voted. So many beautiful entries. So hard to choose. But I chose. :-)
  17. I still have not even seen a single copper in the cave since the initial release. In that time period I've seen, or even caught, several new Anniversary release dragons of all kinds, except for the Coppers. I've caught two Golden Wyvern eggs, an Ice egg and a Magma egg. I haven't been able to catch a Thunder, but I've seen them and just missed catching them. But nary a Copper in sight. I have two Coppers, but I'm missing a green and that's what I'm looking for.
  18. This is a hard question to answer, because basically, I just love food. I love all kinds of 'ethnic' food -- Italian, Greek, Thai, Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese.... Canadian? Oh, yes. So, I love food. It's easier for me to enumerate what I don't like: Spaghetti noodles -- though I love all other kinds of pasta -- and green peas all on their own -- though they're okay in stews and so on -- and vanilla ice cream. Bleah! :-)
  19. 24.9% Geek, which is a little lower than I expected. But still, I AM a Geek.
  20. I took this photo at Kitsilano Beach, Vancouver: http://www.flickr.com/photos/94191177@N06/9058477597/
  21. This is difficult, because I love so many TV shows, but I`d have to say Doctor Who is my absolute favourite.
  22. I loved Into Darkness. I think Zachary Quinto is fantastic as Spock, and Chris Pine is fantastic as Kirk. Also, thanks, Naughtrish, for the link to the Audi ad, which I`ve been chortling about ever since.
  23. A while back, I ran out of naming ideas. I looked at a dragon's code and thought, 'Hey! That can sort of be turned into a name. Yay!' And that's pretty much what I've done ever since. I think of it as the name the dragon was born with, so to speak. It saves a lot of hunting through dictionaries for new name ideas that haven't already been used.
  24. I actually think it's fun to check out a long, long, messy lineage. It shows the dragon's 'history', and makes it more interesting to me. I have CB dragons, and dragons with short, neat lineages, and purebred dragons, and so on, but also a fair number of messily lineaged dragons. I don't really care which is which, myself.
  25. I have the Silver Trophy. It would have been nice if I'd had the Gold at the time of the Anniversary Event, so I could have had 7 eggs at a time, but it all worked out fine for me anyway. I tend to collect rather slowly, so I think it will still be a while before I get the Gold.
