  1. 2:22AM. Must.. sleep.

    And yet.. not tired.

Luckily my Biology Lab doesn't start until the 28th, so I only have one class tomorrow, yee! Biology, ff. I love that class so much I could just die. I don't have to leave until 12:30PM, unlike most days where I have to leave at 6:30AM for an 8:00AM class ( it's never wrong to be early! )

.. so, with that, I guess I'm free to stay awake!

  2. Colonization on the moon.. hrm.

As a person of science, I say go for it! Let's see some life on the moon.

Thinking on the minds of humankind however, I can see this leading somewhere we shouldn't go. Hubris is the number one reason of war these days, as I've studied, but I don't think we have to worry about a war between worlds for a good time.

Honestly, I think it's about time we got into space and really, really started seeing just what we can do and what we can use.

As a person who also finds the incredible strength in nature, I don't know if I feel comfortable with humans being on such a powerful force like the moon. And I literally mean that - as you know, the moon is very important! I'd prefer it if we had some other place to colonize. Not the moon. It's very important to life and the tides and such. I don't like thinking about if something went wrong and we ruined its pull EVEN slightly. ( Astronomers, help me out. Feel free to tell me if this is or isn't possible! :3 Space isn't my particular forte. )

I'd really like to know, honestly, why some people here think it's "wrong." When you say "wrong," I think you are referring to something that is morally wrong, and.. I cannot see how this is morally wrong. Probably a mistake if we do it wrong, a huge mistake, but yes. XD

  3. Funny enough, some medications actually suppress the ability to heal. Such as deer medications or chap stick. Now for those people who don't understand, let me explain. Fevers are NOT caused by the virus. They are caused by your body raising its own temperature in an attempt to cook the infection until it dies. Chapstick basically lubricates your lips, which is one of the reasons they get chapped, drying and lubricating, so put down the Advil and chap stick people! Let your body do it's work!

Vaccines though, do need to happen often. Prevention is very good to the average person who doesn't want the swine flu. Just saying. To those who have complications that don't allow it to happen, I'm sorry, but I pray you don't get sick.

    That's all folks!

Your post is exactly what I'm talking about as far as my family's tradition to "keep natural within reason" goes.

I do absolutely nothing to my colds. Nothing to my chapped lips ( it's winter - come on. ) and nothing to anything that I don't HAVE to. The majority of a cold is the body trying to get one step ahead of the virus. Drowning yourself in simple medicines ( which is where my flipside to medicine comes in ) is not good. at all. It doesn't give your body the chance to work for itself. Do you know what happens to something when you don't use it? you lose it.

All my life, I admit to using hand sanitizer. Most things I touch - the bus railing, doorknobs, my own steering wheel - it's an instinct.

Do you know what happens to me when I get sick? A tiny little cold?

Like nobody's business. You'd think I have the flu or something worth hospitalization. I got sick 4 weeks ago with a cold, and I still have a little cough which is annoying but I let it do its thing.

It's an endless loop - BECAUSE I basically die when I get sick with just a cold, I keep santizing my hands to prevent it, which.. you get where this is going. xd.png I've essentially screwed myself up. I take vitamins and other immunity boosts ( good ol' tea! ) since the start of this year and I'm hoping to see an improvement! Going to school and being subject to so many different people helps, but I have to stop covering my hands with gloves JUST to prevent me from touching my face obliviously with dirty hands. A little germs are okay! I'm a hypocrite for that but at least I recognize that.

Also, for the Japan vaccinations I mentioned - some friends of mine went to Japan after the tsunami and earthquake tragedy to help out, and they mentioned having to take a ton of vaccinations - which makes sense. They were at a vulnerable time and didn't need illness to be added to their list.

That's generally not what I was talking about ( as Fuzz clarified for me - thanks, Fuzz! ) but yes.

They are fantastic, trust me. Just the smell of them makes my mouth water.

Hmmm, you're right, the pancake-egg-sausage mixture sounds weird and yet I can totally see how it'd be a good combo. You'd just have to not let appearances get in the way I think, haha.

Lmao! You know them! I have had one or two of those ( my younger brother was sharing ) and wow, they DO taste like dill pickles. I think it's pretty weird for a chip, which I grew up on typical, salty-salty recipes - that was before we started getting all creative with out chip flavors, lmao! Though as a food alone, I looove it.

ff, yes! If you have enough batter or a deep-dish pan, you can make it so that the pancake is deep enough that you won't see any eggs or sausage on or near the surface: it's good for presentation, especially if you want someone to try it. xd.png

  5. Wow. o.o Personally, ketchup - not its biggest fan, here. xd.png Unless on very dry foods - Like mayo, I use ketchup primarily for the moisture.

But it's interesting how they release only certain foods in certain places because they know it will sell best there. :3 I've seen some pretty weird chip flavors, like pickle flavor and so forth.

As for strange foods.. well, America, as far as my study goes, is largely comprised of many other countries' types of foods, so it's a little difficult for me to figure out a food that would make people on here like "ew!" x3 I mean, my campus has Greek, Chinese, Japanese AND Mexican restaurants very close by. As far as I know, America is really just kind of all over the place when it comes to a menu.

But, personal, self-made foods that I've eaten are easier for me to get into. :3

For instance, I sometimes make what I call "complete-breakfast pancakes." That is, I scramble some eggs, cook and chop up some breakfast sausage, and then put that into the batter of a blueberry pancake, which I think proceed to cook. A lot of people ask why the heck I do that, lmao! It's just.. convenient. Like a breakfast bowl but edible.

We also have gumbo and boudin ( blood sausage in French ) here, but a lot of the traditional food here is from France, of course.

  6. Quick update! ( I'm working so fast tonight, lool. )

    Finished the punk shepherd ( a lot smarter than he looks! We're talking about a university-grade mathematician by day and gamer by night, here.), added a butler ( with a 300 year-streak of insomnia - that probably explains his overall attitude as a character ) and started on a flamboyant senator, bahaa. These breeds added should be fairly easy to figure out. I hope. ^-^;

I think I'll be adding short descriptions of all of these guys when they're all colored, too! It will be a nice project.

Wow! I got 2 breeds, can't believe! xd.png And your style is amazing not weird, ok?

Didn't thought on the Great Pyrenees, now that you established it looks like one. They're so beautiful and fluffy, it really deserves some more hair Momo. smile.gif

Yeah, you're really good at guessing dog breeds! biggrin.gif B'awww, thank you. <33 I just generally think that I need to really work on being able to put specific traits into my sketches - like.. no dog breed really looks the same, and I'd like to be able to easily capture those unique features. :3

And ff, otay! I will definitely add some more!

Hi, I was wondering if you were accepting requests.

If you are, I'd love this to be drawn. I'd prefer something slightly realistic, but whatever floats your boat ^-^

It's supposed to have fur all over it, but I had to colour it on Paint.Net.

If you do accept, I'm sure we could negotiate a price (if you actively play DC).

    Thanks for looking.

Edit: I love your artwork. Truly amazing <3

Hmm, not formally no. I can work with one or two here and there, though, and since I've recently started a project, I'll likely be working between them most of the time. I have a process that runs like an assembly line - sketching and inking is different from coloring. Once I finish sketching and inking something, I usually leave it alone to finish inking something else. The coloring process has its own queue for me. So I'll post the updates as I work on it, but keep in mind that the coloring will not come straight away.

But I'll see what I can do - I do like hoofed subjects.

I have a question about the design - are those horns? ears?

  7. Those sketches are so great! Can't wait to see the final art. biggrin.gif

I'll try to guess the breeds but I'll miss, probably. tongue.gif

The first one remind me of a German Shepherd, the little one maybe a Pembroke and the last one a Setter?...

    ff, thanks!

And omg, 2/3! You're really good at telling dog breeds despite my totally weird art style! ^-^ Though the last one I was headed for a more Great Pyrenees type of look - especially with the partial-curled tail. Maybe he could be a little bushier.

  8. Some more sketches! Each took less than 3 minutes ( if you don't include deciding on which dog breed to use ) so that's good time for pose practice! ^-^

Anyway, they will all ( there will be.. quite a few by the time I'm done. at least 15? ) have accessories or something unique to them, as I plan for this to be a mash-up of many of my characters as dogs/cats.

It also challenges me to make their expressions really like them!

I wonder if anyone can guess which breed is which as I work on this.

  9. [...] I see solar taking everything said as being against her/him/it and then feeling the urge of defending her/him/itself.

I don't think that's really necessary to add, Hisa.

Anyway. I think this thread has become a little too personal to be a debate.

Solarflare, everyone who has offered legitimate, proper responses to your issue and questions are all on the first and second ( and a bit of the third! ) page. If you haven't read through them, take a look! They provide some really decent, fair and helpful advice and so forth. :3 Personally, I do believe there is a misinterpretation of noob/newbie. The miscommunication of what these words mean as the slang that they are is primarily what gets everything out of whack. Maybe you are a newbie, but from what I've seen, you're definitely not to be considered a noob. You'll catch the hang of the game soon enough, I know it! <3

Also, this is DC. Whether you're a kid or adult - doesn't matter. My 9 year old sister is hunting down CB Golds WITH a slow computer. There's no shame in just not mentioning your age, either. and where I live, a lady never tells her age anyway, so. early grace/manners lesson, anyone? Newbies at life are super cool, IMO. A lot of potential! Also, remember, a lot of older people can be.. less mature than wee tots at times. Immaturity is in us all!

It doesn't matter what you "have left to learn" unless it has something to do with DC on here, lmao! And when it comes to that, you can message me anytime for help, or get a mentor to help you out if you really a tour/tutorial of the whole deal. :3

Really, to solve the whole noob/newbie debate, I think people would be more accepting of newer people/be a lot slower to judge if new people utilized their help tools more often. Like asking for help, reading the rules, taking a tour, etc.

  10. Omg, you guys look so awesome 8D all of you are super good-looking, like wow! <3

    Omai, thank you. ;___; <33

We dress up everywhere we go, lmao! Even to grocery stores, baha!

Last time we all went in fedoras/black leather jackets and people/cashiers actually asked us "who we were working for" LOL. One person asked if we were with the FBI. o.o

  11. As some people have said, exercising is really a lot better at gaining some mass than you'd imagine. It primarily tones muscles, which then grow in size. Keep an eye on certain foods, also - some are very lean foods or the type which burn quickly and so forth - if you're trying to gain weight, those kinds of foods won't help.

Personally, I'm 5'7" and weigh around 100/103lbs ( it bounces back and forth ) when the common weight is around 120lbs. But I feel great! I walk across campus every day ( a few good miles every two days put together ) without a strain or shortage of breath. My legs are in excellent shape and I don't feel like I'm underweight at all.

But if you really want to gain weight, go ahead! Good luck, Hisa. :3

EDIT: Sarah, the metric system is very popular pretty much everywhere except America. x3 So maybe that's why. :3

  12. @Solarflare

IDK where you got the concept I was calling you a n00b. I simply cannot take you seriously when you state that you are laughing. Saying "lol" implies a level of silliness. And if you weren't being silly, than my only other options are that you were mocking me or it was supposed to be some form of maniacal laughter (Lol, villain says lol instead of evil laughter xd.png) And I dearly hope you were not mocking me, then I likely would consider you a n00b

Also, you must allow n00bhaters here or your topic is entirely one-sided and biased against a healthy discussion. If you only allow those who agree with you to discuss something with you, then you will never learn about those who disagree with you

EDIT: To clarify: That is assuming you are using the term n00bhater to refer to anyone who dislikes n00bs. There are people who can be total asses about such matters and who verily shouldn't be allowed into a civilized discussion

EDIT 2: For grammar and Sock. sock, if you think I'm coming off as attacking Solarflare or DragonKami personally, I will gladly take a break. Flaming is certainly not my intent, I simply state what I see. So I can stop if it's too much happy.gif

I don't think it's practical to judge someone's level of competence/whether they're a newbie/noob/whatever just by how they type. Especially if they're not even using a full keyboard - which, in this generation, everything is done on phones now really - so that should definitely be taken into account. :3

Also, more often than not, "lol" without any further indication of amusement is often used as sarcasm or, in some way, "breaking the tension." I'm not sure if everyone picks up on that but for me I can do so easily. It may also just be a typing style that Solarflare has - it doesn't mean she's bad at typing a response or a noob/newbie. We all have writing quirks. I can identify almost all of mine and I've noticed a few of yours, too. x3 But I'm not intending to pick on aspects of people so~ Like DragonKami said; let people be who they want to be.

Solarflare, I'm sorry if you're feeling offended here and there! D: You say that you're somewhat new to the game, which is just fine in my book! We were all new at some point, right? This isn't a chicken and egg scenario. None of us were just born playing DC, so naturally - in my opinion - new people who aren't intentionally trolling/being difficult should not be responded to any differently than anyone else unless they actually ask for help/the person just wants to be nice and give gifts to the new member, etc. :3

Don't let people who say they don't like new people get you down. That.. really doesn't make any sense. Just think - when they apply for a new job or get into a university or just join a new site, they're the new guy in the spotlight. Imagine how they'd feel if they were disliked just because they jumped on the bandwagon later than everyone else. Not good. At all.

So with that in mind, IMO there's really no logic to that reaction - so don't feel like they have any good reason to dislike you!

That's basically my general stance on the whole "new person" deal. :3

  13. What amazing arts Momo! I don't have more words... oh yeah I have, you're so so so talented... I love your art style! wub.gif

My favorite is the wolf, it really remembers me Okami. smile.gif

Fff, thank you! <3 That really means a lot to me to be complimented in such a way. <3 Thank you all!

I'm glad that one reminds you of Okami! It means I was actually able to achieve what I wanted, haha. x3

Your art (digital lining especially wub.gif) is fantastic! I hope you'll do more in the future, I'll be eagerly -albiet patiently- waiting!

Wow Xythus, thank you. ;__; <33

    I'm really pleased that my lining technique has so much backing! I will definitely continue to use the styles I've developed and not bother altering them much. I'm quiet fond of them as well, and if people enjoy them also, then what need is there for a sudden change? ^-^;

I will have a new subject up soon! Perhaps tomorrow; I like to take a break from long projects by getting another started.

My favorite is the Magic Canine! biggrin.gif  I wish I was that good! I am actually praticing hard, and one day I will be that good.

Thanks! The name Kashiro has really grown on me for her, lmao!

As for you getting better at your artwork; what more can I say? Practice is where it all starts. You're on the right track~

  14. wow, that's awsome.I would be happy to I can draw like that biggrin.gif

Ffff aww, that means a lot to me. ^-^

    A year ago, I wouldn't be able to do most of what I've done this year. It's just.. a lot of pushing myself, and even then I'm not where I want to be. So, naturally.. the only thing left to do is keep going! ^-^;

I've also added Imagur links to the second post so hopefully those work for all~

  15. Hey Momo!

I'd love to see your arts but Google isn't finding them. sad.gif I don't know if the problem is with me or happens with anyone.

    Oh no! D:

I have them up on tinypic, but I was just wondering today actually if that hosting is wonky for some people. I'm going to switch them over to a more reliable hosting.

Thanks for letting me know! :3 It will take me a moment to get these all up somewhere, though.

At this point, I've done everything but the proper lighting. And there are some minor here-and-there issues I'm too lazy to do at the time. And I need to decide where the lineart is too involved - definitely on the face, where it makes it a lot less realistic than the softer tones of the fur. It's too.. pronounced. D:

Meanwhile the glowy book looks nice with the lines..

hrm. I need opinions on what lineart areas should stay and which should go. xd.png

  16. Ah, yes. Let's just pick on the one who tries to learn the aspect of the game enough for them to hate it and quit! Because you cannot be new to a game at all. You must be there from day of launch or just get out. Nobody has time for them.

i hope everyone got that was sarcasm

    This. Yes!

It's like.. where do you draw the line, people? Everyone was new at some point, so what's going on here?

I understand what some people are saying and it makes sense - the difference between new people who actually want to learn ( the vast majority ) and those who are just.. almost intentionally difficult.

What I was getting at was that even completely new people who have the will to learn are oftentimes judged because they ARE new, simply. That means that if they make a mistake, it goes on a mental record.

I do know that when some people see a "newbie," they initially think that this person is either really young or just.. not competent. It's not like they're new at life - just new to the game. You don't have to talk down to them or treat them like little kids. Just tell them what they need to know.

Being new at a game doesn't make you any less intelligent/competent. As DragonKami(my younger brother) has said, our younger sister caught a CB Gold very early in her first year here on DC. I was astounded. I have only gotten my CB Golds last year, and my laptop is much faster than theirs! Not to mention.. How did she manage to memorize a CB Gold's description? When I asked, she said something like "I just saw it say something about 'metallic,' and I clicked it super fast." Which is a lot to say for her because I know a lot of people freeze up when they see CB Rares.

By the way, she's 9. And my younger brother is 13. They are really competent when it comes to this game.

While they're catching CB Rares, I'm moving across the biomes so fast that I skip over a CB Silver or Gold or Copper. Which I then kick myself for.

  17. <33

I agree though - I think that's why I started doing it in the first place - my lineart was lacking and a little too skimpy/rough, so I started beefing it up. The best thing about Sai Tool is that you can actually tell the program how slow you want the brush/cursor to move - so if you have shaky hands, you don't worry about crooked lineart because the program moves everything very slowly.

Aww, those are always excellent sketch subjects. There's just something about equine and canine anatomy that really, I find, prepares you for most other anatomy. My grandmother has horses on her farm and I, too, sketch them.

Ohh, good luck! ^-^ I need to work on humans, too~ I may be posting some here, as well. I was surprised too, actually, when I first started it. I couldn't see how it was less work than just drawing the outline, but.. it really makes you understand the very musculature and bones, not just the shape of the animal/person.

Oh lmao, no worries! I'm finished drawing for the evening so I won't be posting anything, and I love talking with people about art! Anytime~ <3

  18. Omg, thank you so much! ;__; That means a lot to me, Dimar~ <3

hey i do happen to like thick lineart.
Ffff, seriously? xd.png Sometimes I think I get ahead of myself with it when I make it too much so that way, but I'm glad it has positive feedback! I think I will keep doing it that way whenever it's something that's not intended to be as realistic as the latest piece.

I really appreciate your comments on those pieces. ^-^

Lmao, yes. xd.png I'd like to do a background someday, but it would have to be on the same level as the character in it, so.. I should probably.. start practicing it now. before it's too far gone.

As for the anatomy, I'm sure you'll get the hang of it! :3 I used to just watch the way my dog walked, or study photos of animals/wolves when I was getting the hang of it. The trick for me was to look at the pictures/animal, and think of a shape that I could sketch that would closely resemble that body part/motion. When I sketch, I use circles and other shapes because of that. For like.. everything.

  19. From oldest to new. These are not all the pieces that I've done; just the most recent.

    Late 2013:

Random sketches of a Hellhound character named who took on the name Aeon, as he forgot his human name, Haden, upon being turned into his current state. The Griffon(Gryphon, what have you) is a random, unnamed element for practicing wings.

Unidentified Dragon sketch. Those are not functional wings on its back - they vaguely remind me of something Chinese-based. Or Steampunk.

Wolf Headshot of a character of mine. I wanted some kind of Chinese feel.

Another piece of the previous character with his name displayed. You'd be surprised how many people ask what language his name is in, but.. I really just made it up - he's a character I've had since I was a wee tot. Slight Okami influence to this? Heck yes.

Nameless character. It started out as a random sketch to help with poses/confidence. It was never supposed to be colored.

Fennekin. It was when the game had just come out.

Three Machines. The lineart of something I recently finished.

Three Machines ( finished. ) Their serial numbers are very significant, being that the first three of the code tell what type of model/design they are, and the last number tells how many were made before it. Realistically, the last digit is always increasing due to production, so these three have a lot of significance since they're of the first few made.

I will be doing a graphic novel with this concept/backstory someday.

A persona-type thing. ( WIP ) Yes, I am actually that fancy in real life. It's not done, and I may color it someday.

Lineart of that same persona-type thing. She's got librarian/philosopher/black-magic-artist type of credentials to her, but her animated spellbook does most of the work. This is the first time I've gone light on the lineart - my lineart style is usually as thick on everything as it is on the Three Machines piece.

Colors added. ( Still a WIP. ) Her name is Kashiro. And this is not even half done. First time doing something this realistic - I'm having fun!

Most every major detail completed. Still a WIP. The final lighting, which will be controlled by the book/emanate from it, will force me to use a lot of shadows to close in everything as well, so this may look very different in the end than it does now.

Characters everywhere! Just a random project to draw a ton of my characters as different dog and cat breeds. The majority of them are actually human ( and by that, I mean they naturally take humanoid form, bahaa. x3 ) so this is fun!

Same evening update! Some will be more chibi or realistic than the others - it depends on how I feel about the character themselves. Can you guess the dog breeds or, better yet, guess their personalities?

EDIT: Because it was mentioned that the links weren't loading for some, I've uploaded them also to Imagur. They are linked to in order of the original links I put up:

This will be updated with WIP updates and more work, but I will likely also post it throughout the thread unless it's double-posting.

  20. After some serious prompting from people, I decided to make a progress/art thread.

Keep in mind that while I love to practice and spam people with requests/gifts, I am a university student first and an artist/writer/musician second. So if I do start requests ( or surprise gifts! ) mid-semester, it may be pretty slow. >:

This first post is a bit about me! The second will hold links and WIPS.

My name is Momo. :3 You can call me.. Momo. Or whatever you like, really. xd.png

I'm a Biology Major with 16 credit hours. Not too busy, but.. busy.

I'm a jobless deadbeat. No, I just applied for a job where my brothers work, lmao! I'm not enthusiastic to be working AND attending university, but I'd like some spending money.

( Now for the actual stuff you'd like to read about )

I used to primarily use traditional media for artwork from the ages of 9 to 15. In the end, I was spending some $80 a month for supplies such as charcoal, prismocolor( color pencils, VERY good tools ) and molding/putty erasers.

My first tablet was a Bamboo Fun. I now own an Intuous Manga tablet.

The digital media I use is Sai Paint Tool and CS4/CS5. Sai is excellent for the sketching/basic colors and flats, and Photoshop I use for all the fancy pants stuff.

The average time it takes me to finish something, assuming I ever work nonstop, is around 15 hours. I never do. Ever.

    1) My strongest point is animal anatomy and fur.

    2) My weakest point is natural, realistic creases and detail in clothing.

    3) My most time consuming issue is deciding on a pose.

    4) My best feature is making use of layer properties and brushes by doing random things and just getting a very nice effect.

    5) My most hated issue is how many layers I use. I'm too untrusting of my ability right now.

    6) I rely too heavily on the lineart. My current goal is to confidently be able to paint past its boundaries.

    7) I have never done a background before.

    8) I have a very creepy obsession with making EVERY PIECE have a transparent background. Because it's cute and snazzy. Always. Mkay?

    9) I may eventually own a DeviantArt account.

I'm hoping my goals/issues will change overtime, so that's why I'm posting them here for reference. ^-^

I really, really enjoy critique ( comments are always welcome! ) though I would primarily appreciate it in the first stages of a piece, because once I have over 200 layers, it won't be possible for me to fix a wonky leg or reconstruct the fur. Trust me. I spread out the outlining of fur in over 20 layers when it should realistically only be in one or two.

    Now, let the motivation begin!

  21. I have so many siblings that my older brothers and I literally raised them ourselves - taught them to walk, talk and read. Our parents work all day, everyday.

So if I had a child, I'd like to think I'd know exactly what to do, what to say and how to say it to get the results that I want.

Overall, I have a very bottomline response to the concept of having children.

If I do decide to have them, it will be when I am financially secure ( ME. Not my family or even my spouse. Me. ) and of what I feel is a proper age.

To me, for me, having children is the perfect opportunity to shape the next generation and perhaps the future depending on how I raise them. There is so much potential in blank slates like children.

In all honesty, my children would be very proper, undergo all manner training and know the importance of a good waltz or two. These things skipped a generation in my family ( my parents ) but I do not plan on letting it die.

It is true that society can wrongly shape what we want our children to learn, but you'll find that even with access to the internet, if a child is schooled and taught in the home specifically, most often it will negate the harshest lessons and inappropriate sides of society.

This is true for all eight of my siblings.

My older brothers, 20 and 22, have never had a date and when prompted, their response is "Are you insane? That'll just distract me from graduating and starting my business." For me, I also have never had a date, but what keeps me from it is just that I need to find an intellectual equal who is equally determined for greatness, and in a university though that may be possible, but you can never be sure. They could only be there for a high paying job or for their parents, or maybe they won't even graduate at all.

So yes. Babies are a complicated subject for me - I love seeing other people's children but I never fawn; rather, I speak to them as though they are adults; without the baby talk and all of that.

I've actually a few very intellectual conversations with 4 and 6 year olds - this is what our society is coming to after all. Which may be either a good or bad thing - sometimes you cannot escape what they adsorb, but you CAN control how they use it. That's what, to me, makes raising children so promising.

As for the population debate, I'm just going to link to an image that's actually out of my Anthropology class' powerpoints from the textbook. This was a very helpful class last semester, and really, this diagram pretty much explains this population debate. This is why some populations are very high.
