  1. Hi everyone, I got a(nother) request to join the SLP Google site. It might be a bot or something but just in case, if anyone wants to join the site, please PM me on DC so I know who you are. Thanks!
  2. Hi everyone, I just wanted to remind anyone interested in being a contributor at the SLP webpage, please PM me with the email of your Google account. I've been getting random requests which I've been ignoring because I wasn't sure whether they were legit requests so if you've been ignored, just contact me via PM and I'll add you! Thanks!
  3. Hi! I got a request to the SLP website directly through e-mail. Just to make sure that it's someone from the forums and not a random person, please PM me to be added on as collaborator. Thanks!
  4. Thanks, JaneMcAsh. lol. Fertile metallics? Well, at least some portion of the DC population is happy, right?
  5. Wow. I haven't been keeping up with the lineage myself since I went semi-inactive. I'm surprised to hear of the difficulties with breeding. Karobb, what lineage and what generation do you need? I could try breeding for you if you'd like. It would at least give you more couples working for you to move forward with the project.
  6. Hi! Sorry for dropping out of sight. Just wanted to post to say that my inbox is open to receiving PM's if anyone who isn't already on it wants to use the *coughforgottencough* website to keep track of their dragons and their lineages. Just send me a PM and, assuming the e-mail doesn't keep getting caught in my Spam box, I should reply within a few days.
  7. As well as the fact that we are limited to two. Despite the multiple drop locations, I was still unable to get a single Halloween this year so I don't think that that was the only factor.
  8. Thanks, TJ! I'm shocked by how easily and quickly I managed to catch my two just now. o.O

    2011-06-10 - UPDATES

Pretty happy with the changes so far. Thanks a lot!
  10. Collector. I want CB pairs (a certain number of them) of each dragon. But I'm also trying to help clear the AP of unwanted commons so I'll continue raising CB commons from the AP to adulthood, and freeze the Lineaged ones for my hatchling army. Exception made for mints which are most adorable in the adult form. I'll raise them, CB or Lineaged, to adulthood regardless of whether they are clean-lineaged or inbred. Used to be a breeder but now more of a casual, lineage-based breeder than an indiscriminate one.
  11. Excellent choice. Very excited about the upcoming changes. Thanks!

Lewis Rating: 4/5 Review: I'm not a huge fan of audiobooks but I'd purchased this because it was Radio Theater and I figured it might be more interesting and more fun than the usual narration of most other audiobooks. I was right. I enjoyed listening to this audio version which I finally did in its entirety this past few days while I worked out. It seemed to stick as closely as possible to the book while adapting it very slightly to make for a more entertaining performance. I liked most of the voice actors but I strongly disagreed with the voice actor of Aslan and how he chose to act certain scenes and lines - very strongly disagreed. It was so hard not to go straight to the back of the book to see whether my guess was right. lol. There were a few slow parts which included the men talking about feelings and their background - or rather, their avoidance of doing either in some cases. But I kind of liked it since it gave me a sense of where the men were emotionally. 13. Oh, yes. That was probably one of the saddest things I've ever watched. The ending of Hachi also made me cry.

    The Wheel of Time

I hope you enjoy the rest of the series although many claim that only the first several books are good and that the series deteriorates after that. As for myself, I liked all the books. I prefer it to Terry Goodkind's Sword of Truth series (not a huge fan of preaching authors) and George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire series (not a huge fan of authors who kill off favorite characters ).
  15. Don't know if I posted here already but...I speak English (my dominant language) and some Korean. I suppose if I really cudgeled my brain, I could come up with a few Spanish and German which is sad since I've had 4.5 years of Spanish studies and 2 years of German. If it came to reading and writing, I can probably read and write at the 1st or 2nd grade level for Korean and Spanish, and about 3rd or 4th grade level for German (or I did about a year ago). Took a semester of Japanese once thinking it'd be an easy elective. I was soooo wrong. In about two years, I'd like to pick up Spanish, German, ASL, French, Greek and Korean again, and I'd like to learn Russian.

    C.S.Lewis

I love The Chronicles of Narnia. I reread it at least once a year. I tried to read Surprised by Joy for summer reading many years ago but was so bored by it that I never finished it. Fortunately for me, my teacher did not require a short summary when school started. I might try finishing it some day. I hope that now that I am older, I might appreciate it better. I have The Screwtape Letters in my to-read pile. @Lady_DragonRider: I also have the Radio Theater set of The Chronicles of Narnia. I don't normally enjoy audiobooks but I like this one.

Proper review hopefully by the end of the month. For now: It needs an editor but the book is still readable. It's long but each scene between the two protagonists serve to deepen and develop their relationship. The characters are hardly flat and two dimensional; they change and grow - and the book is barely even halfway over. It's technically a m/m love story but it's violent and realistic. If it weren't for the love story line, it'd probably be one of those blood, battle and gore books that the big boys like to read (and that I prefer to avoid). I don't like too much realism in my escapism stories, but this works for me. And these authors are soo good at showing, not telling. The last time I was this impressed by how authors showed the characters falling in love instead of telling the readers was J.L. Merrow's novella, Pricks and Pragmatism. It is self-published, and available for free in PDF format from the author's website. Avoid if you dislike reading about: violence, rape, gay relationships, straying (uncommitted) partners Book Number: 142 Number Of Pages: 513 pgs Book Title: Special Forces: Mercenaries I [e-book] For mature readers Author: Aleksandr Voinov & Marquesate Rating: 4/5 Book Number: 143 Number Of Pages: 662 pgs Book Title: Special Forces: Mercenaries II[e-book] For mature readers Author: Aleksandr Voinov & Marquesate Rating: 3/5 Book Number: 141 Number Of Pages: 392 pgs Book Title: The Unsung Hero Author: Suzanne Brockmann Rating: 3/5 Review: My Goodreads review Book Number: 142 Number Of Pages: over 50k words [e-book] Book Title: Sweet Seduction Author: Tania Tirraoro Rating: 2/5 Review: My Goodreads review It was okay. It was light, sweet and readable. But it was also unoriginal, the characters were fairly flat, and the dialogue rather trite. There was a serious case of tell, not show, and a lot of introspection. Nonetheless, looking forward to the sequel. Book Number: 147 Number Of Pages: 435 Book Title: Twilight's Dawn Author: Anne Bishop Rating: 2.5/5
  18. @Ladyfish: Have your read C.L. Wilson's Tairen Soul series? The two authors are friends and Wilson's series is very like Feehan's Dark series.

  20. lol. err, I wouldn't. It took me many tries over the course of several years to finally complete One Good Knight. I swapped it through Paperbackswap.com once I was done. I liked the book after One Good Knight, and have been waiting for Sleeping Beauty to be available on PBS, but may just borrow it from the library next month. Regarding Lethal Obsession, I checked the Amazon.com page. Under Product Details, it says: Lending: Enabled. I have Kindle for PC as well. 1. To lend, you go to your Kindle Library. I do that by going to My Account and then "View Your Kindle Orders". 2. Find the book, click the "+" to open up the product details. 3. Click the Loan this book" button. 4. You will need the Amazon.com email address of the person who you are lending the book to. Please note, the Kindle email address will not work. Once this is done, the person has 7 days to accept the loan, and then 14 days to read it. During that time, you won't have access to the book yourself. After the 21 days are up (assuming that the book has been accepted), the book returns to you. Lending is strictly a one-time deal. Once it has been loaned to someone, you can no longer lend it out to anyone. And yes, I can be on topic. 21. Nope. I've got an exam to study for. >__< And I've been intending to participate since last year. @Kanaye: Is Lethal Obsession Kindle-lendable? If it is and there isn't someone else you plan on lending it to, may I borrow it? @Shalarean: I'm glad to hear that you enjoyed The Sweetest Thing by Jill Shalvis. She's a new-to-me author that I recently purchased because I really liked the cover. lol. I haven't read it yet and am glad that I won't end up hating the book! 22. Book Number: 110 Number Of Pages: 280 pgs Book Title: Princess of the Midnight Ball Author: Jessica Day George Rating: 3/5 Review: It's a retelling of the 12 dancing princesses. I liked it although the characters were a bit bland. I think what intrigued me the most was the emphasis that it wasn't romantic to be caught in such a spell, when you have to dance even when you are so sick you can barely walk. One would think that despite your misery, as a princess, you would hide your misery and dance, but in this book, we have princesses who are literally sobbing as they dance. Granted, half of them are really young but it really contrasted with the version that most firmly sticks in my head - the Barbie version. lol.
  23. @Kanaye: I do use Paperbackswap but by freebie, I meant that I got it when Amazon.com offered the Kindle e-book for free as a promotion. 24. Ah, meant to ask that first. Sorry. How do you rate Anansi Boys then?
  25. @Kanaye: I have Book 1 of the Bay City series. I think I got it as a freebie. What did you dislike about it? @lightbird: How was Anansi Boys compared to American Gods? I've been meaning to read Anansi Boys for a while but I didn't like American Gods as much as I did Neverwhere so I've been putting it off. @Danne: Have you read The Iron Duke by Meljean Brooks? I heard that that was really good. And yeah, the Abyss Feeders are definitely creepy.
