1. Ah, looks like Nebulas do the same thing as well!

6-6-6-6-6 - A nebula dragon comes to visit your dragon’s den. She seems mildly interested, but doesn’t stay long. It seems she left to find a dragon with more mana.

So...

7-6-6-6-6 - It seems she liked the collection of mana, but left to find a dragon with more meat.

7-6-6-6-7 - It seems she left to find a dragon with more mana.

So Nebulas don't seem to mind extra shinies but don't really like sweets or misc in excess. This is definitely important since there are three(!) other dragons that have mana/meat combos (and the dragon I ultimately want to attract).

2. I've got my nhiostrife currently loaded with the 6-6-6-6-6 format and it asks for the standard sweets/shinies, so I'm unsure whether any of them are repelling it. Does anyone have a fleshcrown showing up at their cave? Since it has the same primary/secondary as nhiostrife, there must be some way to differentiate the two...

3. The dragon species seems to change upon the hour now, rather than every 24.

Hmm, you seem to be right. I've got a nhiostrife visiting now when I had a balloon previously, and I haven't changed anything. Maybe it was supposed to always do this, so we could discover more breed combos? Either way, this is a great opportunity to re-test dragons in case they get repelled by certain combos.

Will we have to add a timestamp to our visiting dragons as well? tongue.gif jk, jk

But make sure to be on the lookout for species that aren't on the front page list yet! With this extra circulation we'll find all of them for sure.

It seems to be sufficient to test with 6 and 7 items. This should be much faster than testing with the maximum (currently 40).

Ooh this might be very helpful. And hopefully they scale up once we want to actually target one particular species and decorate the cave for realsies.

4. The OP (helix9) can be edited by the original poster if they agree with your idea. Another thread would be a duplicate and quickly burned unless the OP decides to create another and ask for this one to be burned for a good reason and ALL data from this thread was brought over. helix9, rubyshoes, and other site mods are the only ones that can change, edit, or alter this topic in any way. All we can do is collect/compile data and propose/test hypotheses.

Speaking of which, here is a slightly altered form that I hope the OP likes. happy.gif

Yeah, I've been keeping watch of the thread as much as I can between classes and schoolwork; a lot of the information has been congregating in mo7's googledoc and I've been tempted to just reiterate most of that info into the first post so people don't have to clickthrough to a bunch of stuff.

For example, mo7 says in the doc that the dragon breed and location may not matter as much as we think they did. It's possible that the info might still be useful in terms of breeds available to us (or those might even be random, who knows) but the items ratio is definitely the most important information.

That being said, I'll go ahead and add the extra tidbits you have on the code. We're still halfway through so there's still no 100% theory tacked down yet. I'm hoping people have been finding this useful, or at least fun to experiment with like I have!

5. I would like to update the template so that we all list more than one attempt. But if you do not want to try multiple times and you only list one attempt, then it should be a message in which the visiting dragon is interested and likes the main collection. Other messages are less useful because they do not always allow us to see what are the main and secondary types of things that the visiting dragon is looking for.

Gotcha! Added this to the first post.

The next batch will be coming in the next ten minutes, so get ready to get testing!

6. Oh wow, it's really cool to see the different biome caves! I chose my oldest dragon so of course he has the default cave, but I would have loved to see a skywing with a coast cave (which I don't think anyone has posted yet?).

I'll post mine once we start getting more items, I imagine I'll be changing it around a lot.

7. It looks like this event will have a lot to do with trying to do with courting a certain type of dragon. I say we should try to collect those descriptions we're getting once we set up our cave so that we can get the right gal!

The event is over, but if you'd still like to post it'd be interesting to see what the final ratios were that attracted the permanent mate.

Some people have adopted a sort of form to post their findings in, which will make organizing these much easier!

Day: day of event

Location: (Cave, Alpine, Coast, Desert, Jungle, Volcano) (You can see pictures of the locations in this thread)

My Dragon:

Visiting Dragon:

Interested Message: Try to always include a message that shows both of the things that the dragon is looking for

Item Ratio: (in the form Mana:Meat:Shinies:Sweets:Misc)

Attempts: Try to post as many combos as you can test, this helps narrow down the specifications for each mate

Notes and other Questions: Anything you find interesting, such as interesting item combos

If you don't have a lot to say in the questions at the end, don't feel pressured to answer them. If you've got lots of experiments and ideas swirling in your head though, write 'em out!

Notes: Which are the primary/secondary/tolerated/repulsed items?
What was in your cave at the start of the day? Primary category/color? Category you had none of?

From Bugzilla:

If we want to analyze this easily, then I suggest the following relatively simple procedure:

1. Start with everything at 2-2-2-2-2.

2a. If the visitor likes the collection, then you can immediately derive the primary and secondary preferences, and you know that all 4 non-primary categories are tolerated.

The test can probably stop here for that breed.

2b. If the visitor is only mildly interested, increase the primary and have something like 2-2-2-2-3 (if the primary is the misc items).

Save the changes.

3. You will then know the primary and secondary preferences, but you still have to play with the other ones to check which ones are tolerated or not (= accepted at the same level as the primary)

4. Pick one of the 4 non-primary kinds of things, increase its number to 3 and save.

5a. If the visitor is still interested (not just mildly), then this is "tolerated/accepted/whatever-name-you-prefer". You can keep it at 3 and test the next one.

5b. If the visitor is only mildly interested, then remove the item that you have just added and increase the next category that you want to test.

6. Repeat step 4 for the 4 kinds of items that are not the primary preference.

With only a few tests, it should be possible to analyze quickly the breeds that we see.

Tolerate/Repulse are still being tested, please bear with us! You can find those tests in this spreadsheet, comments are open.

Shadow Walker - Primary: Sweets Secondary: Mana

White - Primary: Sweets Secondary: Mana

Harvest - Primary: Sweets Secondary: Meat

Fleshcrown - Primary: Sweets Secondary: Shinies

Nhiostrife - Primary: Sweets Secondary: Shinies

Balloon - Primary: Sweets Secondary: Misc

Canopy - Primary: Sweets Secondary: Misc

Tangar - Primary: Sweets Secondary: Misc

Bleeding Moon - Primary: Misc Secondary: Meat

Your dragons should match these. If they do not, or if you've attracted a new species please post it! And if you've been able to do any testing on the tolerate/repulse categories, this would be extremely helpful in differentiating dragons that have the same primary/secondary attractions.

________________________________________________________

I'll be keeping track of my own info in this post here, as an example.

Day: 1

Location: Cave

My Dragon: CB Skywing

Visiting Dragon: Nebula

Attempts:

• 10-10-0-0-0 - She seems interested, but doesn’t stay long. It seems she liked the collection of mana, but left to find a dragon with more meat.
• [9 or less]-10-0-0-0 - She seems mildly interested, but doesn’t stay long. It seems she left to find a dragon with more mana.
Notes: If I put too many of the other objects the ratio of magic items gets too small and the nebula gives me the "more mana" message as above. I have not been able to trigger any other breed to appear.

Day: 2

Location: Cave

My Dragon: CB Skywing

Visiting Dragon: Gold-horned Tangar

Attempts:

• 10-10-0-0-0 - She seems mildly interested, but doesn’t stay long. It seems she left to find a dragon with more sweets.
• 0-0-0-20-0 - She seems interested, but doesn’t stay long. It seems she liked the collection of sweets, but left to find a dragon with more miscellaneous items.
• 0-0-0-[19 or less]-20 - She seems mildly interested, but doesn’t stay long. It seems she left to find a dragon with more sweets.
• 0-0-0-20-20 - She seems interested, but doesn’t stay long. It seems she liked the collection of sweets, but left to find a dragon with more miscellaneous items.
Notes: Maxing out each number separately doesn't summon any other species.

Day: 3

Location: Cave

My Dragon: CB Skywing

Visiting Dragon: Deep Sea

Attempts:

• 0-0-0-20-20 - She seems mildly interested, but doesn’t stay long. It seems she left to find a dragon with more shinies.
• 0-0-[6 or more]-0-0 - A deep sea dragon comes to visit your dragon’s den. She seems interested, but doesn’t stay long. It seems she liked the collection of shinies, but left to find a dragon with more meat.
• 0-30-[29 or less]-0-0 - She seems mildly interested, but doesn’t stay long. It seems she left to find a dragon with more shinies.
• 0-30-30-0-0 - She seems interested, but doesn’t stay long. It seems she liked the collection of shinies, but left to find a dragon with more meat.
Notes: At just about every point, having more meat than shinies makes the visitor want you to have more shinies. Maxing out each number separately doesn't summon any other species.

Day: 4

Location: Cave

My Dragon: Skywing

Visiting Dragon: Balloon

Attempts:

• 0-30-30-0-0 - She seems mildly interested, but doesn’t stay long. It seems she left to find a dragon with more sweets. (This is how I started the day.)
• 0-0-0-[6 or more]-0 - She seems interested, but doesn’t stay long. It seems she liked the collection of sweets, but left to find a dragon with more miscellaneous items.
• 0-0-0-[39 or less]-40 - She seems mildly interested, but doesn’t stay long. It seems she left to find a dragon with more sweets.
• 0-0-0-40-40 - She seems interested, but doesn’t stay long. It seems she liked the collection of sweets, but left to find a dragon with more miscellaneous items.
• 40-40-40-40-40 - She seems interested, but doesn’t stay long. It seems she liked the collection of sweets, but left to find a dragon with more miscellaneous items.
Notes: As before, maxing out any of the non-asked items by themselves did not bring a different dragon. I will probably stop doing this test because it is getting quite tedious lol. Other than that, it's pretty obvious we're still not supposed to get a mate we want yet. Also, I'm not quite seeing an effect of the other items on the message? Will possibly have to keep poking at that.

During all of these past ones, I've also just been picking an item at random and placing it the max amount of this, so there's pretty much only ever two types of items in my cave. Right now I've got the purple grapes for sweets and lime green scales for misc items.

Day: 5

Location: Cave

My Dragon: Skywing

Visiting Dragon: Black

Attempts:

40-40-40-40-40 - It seems she left to find a dragon with more mana. (does not like items equal)

41-40-40-40-40 - It seems she liked the collection of mana, but left to find a dragon with more meat.

41-41-40-40-40 - It seems she left to find a dragon with more mana. (repulsed by meat)

41-40-41-40-40 - It seems she liked the collection of mana, but left to find a dragon with more meat. (tolerates shinies)

41-40-40-41-40 - It seems she liked the collection of mana, but left to find a dragon with more meat. (tolerates sweets)

41-40-40-40-41 - It seems she liked the collection of mana, but left to find a dragon with more meat. (tolerates misc)

41-40-41-41-41 - It seems she liked the collection of mana, but left to find a dragon with more meat. (putting primary with all tolerated items gives the same answer)

8. "A nebula dragon comes to visit your dragon’s den. She seems interested, but doesn’t stay long. It seems she liked the collection of mana, but left to find a dragon with more meat."

No come back, my skywing will love you very much! Tis another time then.

I put a few items then saved, then a few more items, etc. Seemed to save just fine.

9. Just want to say, I don't mind at all what kind of Signodextra I get. Except if it's a Pyralsprite, that's awesome. biggrin.gif

Also, I'll repeat my question: Is Signodextra a name to spread, like Dorkface and Thuwed? Or is it something else?

As far as I know, yup it's planned to be a new family name to spread around. smile.gif

I'll ask my GoN's to send some good vibes your way, Desanui.

10. I'm out of town right now, and life has been total chaos for the last few months... but when I get home I PROMISE to evaluate where everyone is and figure out a way for active members of the lineage to finish!

Huge thanks for keeping the project in check, even after being so busy!

11. Alas, there were no emails waiting for me. (I didn't even have spam mail for once!) My custom code shall have to wait another year.

Can't wait to see what 600 new shinies in circulation will look like!

12. !!! Nice! It's curious how different users have different luck. I've got two GoN's but have never even remotely won any christmas raffles.

Ah, purple and gold is such a great color combo I can't wait to see these!

13. Fingers crossed for your GoN!

I've just been breeding mine mostly for myself, since the fun part about using Avatars is that they can breed their own type, the type of Avatar of the other parent, or the other parent's breed, giving me three options. All I need is a Copper baby from Pumuksa and I'll have my personal goal finished up. I even got an alt vine from Esminets!
