Posted February 13, 2010 (edited) Before you click the eggs currently in the Wilderness, check the latest posts to see if they are sick or not, and don't click them if they are. This is vital if you want them to live. Thank you! Egg Status: Not sick. Go ahead and click, but stop if you notice they're sick. Hullo there, fellow Dragoncave spelunkers! I'm here to present a somewhat alarming fact. There are no unfrozen hatchlings in the Wilderness at the time of this writing. There is a reason for this; unfrozen wild hatchlings were born wild, and unless they are the offspring of released dragons instead of bred wild dragons, they aren't likely to get many clicks and therefore hatch on time. The thing is, lately eggs and hatchlings have been needing more and more views to grow up; this, combined with the fact that most people who know how to reach the Wilderness page have their own things to deal with, on and off of the forums. I respect this fully. Unfortunately, this has led to the Wild-bred eggs all dying, and none of them even reaching hatchlinghood where they can be seen and clicked on the Young page. I propose this: go to the Wilderness Page, click as many adults as you think you can handle, and try to find as many of their wild relatives as possible. Record their codes and whatnot, and check up on your 'adopted' Wilderness dragons occasionally (about once a week) to see if any of them have laid eggs. Then, you record the eggs' codes, put 'em in a few of your signatures on different forums if you want, wait 'till they reach ER stage, and then enter their codes into a few hatch site ERs. It's a tedious thing, I'll admit, but I at least will do what I can to get the Wilderness population growing again. Why would you want to do this? Here's my reason: I like the thought of there being a population of dragons outside of people's scrolls. It just makes sense somehow. And for the more cynical DC-goers, it'll at least help with the ratios if wild commons are breeding too. Suggestions? Criticism? Other commentary? Want to join? All appreciated. If one of the dragons you're watching has an egg, please post saying so. Do not post a direct link to the egg. Wild eggs are few enough as it is without being accidentally overviewed to death. Thank you. NOTICE: If you wish to join, please read all of the announcements first; put 'cream cheese enchilada' in your first post if you have. Thank you! I have a very long list of wild dragons recorded on my computer. If you're having trouble deciding on some to watch, PM me and I will send you a list of randomly selected codes from the list. 2. If you see eggs or hatchlings on the Young page, post immediately saying so, but do not click them until you've checked the last few posts and gotten the update on whether or not they are already sick. The status will be updated every day or so. We lost all fourteen wild '10 Valentines this way, and it's not going to happen again. 3. You may release one of your dragons into the Wilderness specifically for this project, if you wish to do so. If you do, please PM me with this form (filled out, of course): Four-letter Code: (example: 4tN9) Gender (if applicable): Male/Female/Neuter Species: (example: gray) Name (if any): (if it had a name before being released, tell it here; if not, put N/A) Caveborn or Lineaged: (For those who don't know, if the dragon has parents on its lineage page, it's lineaged, and if it doesn't, it's caveborn. Example: lineaged) Children (if any): (How many children the dragon has; if it doesn't have any, just put 'none.') Scroll Name: (The scroll name of the owner who is releasing a dragon for the project. Example: Carnivorous_M) Forum Name: (The forum name of the owner releasing the dragon. Example: Carnivorous M.) For your enjoyment and perusal of information, we have moved the lists to the W.C. Hall of Records. Please remember to enjoy yourself, and to keep your posts in the main thread. Thank you! Did You Know?: 1. That each time you refresh the main Wilderness page, it shows exactly 64 dragons? There may be a different adult/frozen hatchling ratio, but the overall number stays the same. 2. That occasionally adult white dragons will show up on the Young page? 3. That, if there are no dragons in the Young page, including adult whites, that you can't reach it? 4. That some dragons such as splits and pygmies are able to breed with other species in the Wilderness? If you find out more interesting facts about the Wilderness and its inhabitants, post saying so, and it could be added here! Meet our mascot, Cream Cheese Enchilada! Posted February 13, 2010 Really? I haven't noticed about this. Recently, I'd released my Gray/Storm/Fog dragon in the Wilderness, i went to look for him but I couldn't find him by his name...and I dunno if I had recorded his code or not... I'd be glad to help. I'll love to watch the Wilderness! Share this post Link to post
Posted February 13, 2010 Alrighty! I'll be putting up a list of Watchers in a minute. Share this post Link to post
Posted February 13, 2010 i will help, i always get so sad when the small cave has no hatchies or eggies... Share this post Link to post
Posted February 14, 2010 (edited) Count me in as well! :] All the hatchlings I keep finding are frozen. Are they all frozen? Edited February 14, 2010 by Tissue Share this post Link to post
Posted February 14, 2010 (edited) I recommend adding a link to each dragon in your favorites, it makes the work a bit faster and easier. I've chosen about ten commons and three rares to watch for now. Oh my, the wilderness is so... wild. And pretty funny. Especially seeing a male skywing and a male horse kissing. Posted February 14, 2010 I had no idea the wilderness dragons needed clicks! I thought it was just the scroll dragons. Ah! I am enlightened. I will check into the wilderness from time to time now. Thanks for the heads up! Share this post Link to post
