I breed my silvers with blacks and my golds with reds ...blacks and reds hardly stay on the ap long :Pbesides..unless i get a silver egg i always keep a black egg from a breeding Share this post Link to post
Posted March 30, 2009 The reason there are always so many whites and mints piling up is ... people are breeding whites and mints with their rares, or with the common colors there are fewer of. Whites and mints breed well with almost everything. That's why there are so many of them--they're the byproducts of breeding for the other colors that players really appreciate seeing on the AP. If I want to breed golds for people, unfortunately it's going to mean a lot of whites, because my golds only produce maybe one or two gold eggs in 10. ^^^^^^^ This! Exactly. (Emphasis above mine) Of the common dragons I have, that are from the AP, and not caveborn, 17 of them have one rare parent, and 22 have two common parents. I agree, I try to stick to a pretty regimented breeding couple for my rares, mostly to avoid inbreeding, but it's not like you can breed a gold with a silver. Fortunately the geodes come from breeding certain commons together, but I don't see that it will be possible to promise to not make extra commons when the rares get in a mood. I have had 3 purple eggs with a single silver egg. Otherwise, sign me up. Share this post Link to post
Posted March 30, 2009 We know people can't control numbers of eggs. The oath is to be considerate and responsible when everyone jumps on the "let's breed" bandwagon to not add to a wall or multiple walls of eggs. Posted March 31, 2009 I completely support this. I've been doing pretty much everything the oath says since I started breeding my dragons. The only thing I may deviate from is not breeding commons. (I don't have a lot of rares so if I didn't breed commons I wouldn't be able to breed at all. Also, I breed Earth dragons for my Locke lineage.) I've rarely gotten more than single egg clutches so I'm not contributing to the AP blocks much. Share this post Link to post
Posted March 31, 2009 That's what I do, I have paired my silvers with several different breeds and when there is a wall of whites I don't breed my silver/white couples. What I did before I started over with a fresh group of dragons is I was breeding my golds with my vines, and my silvers with my blacks. That had the potential for both metallics and alts all in one fell swoop. I will be doing it again with these guys when the cave's back up and running and I acquire the necessary breeding pairs. OK, they don't always produce eggs that way, but dem's de breaks. I haven't ever participated in a mass breeding, unless there was one going on that I didn't know about--I don't come in here a lot unless there's something going kerflooey with the site. But while I think the breeder oath is a good idea for those who care about such things, I wonder about the law of unintended consequences. If everyone decides to breed at a slow time, that time won't be slow anymore. So I'll wish you all the best of luck with this venture, but I'll breed when I like. Especially since now people can release adult dragons they don't want, and those don't block up the AP at all. Share this post Link to post

Posted March 31, 2009 I do breed along those lines. I only see 2 points I'm not sure about: I will not breed for breeding's sake: I will breed because I want the result of that breeding or know that there are people who want it. I see a problem there with breeding for metallics. Because I do breed my meallics weekly, hoping for metallics to gift/trade, but if they give me commons, then they'll go to the AP. I will not participate in massbreeds. For me, that depends. I don't participate in rare massbreeds or general massbreeds, but I'm planning to participate in the split and stone breeding - meaning in massbreeds where only kinds high on demand can result. So, do I qualify for this oath or not? *curious* Share this post Link to post
Posted March 31, 2009 I will not breed for breeding's sake: I will breed because I want the result of that breeding or know that there are people who want it. Is more about not breeding just because a week has past and your dragons are ready to breed. You need to want the result of that breeding, the desired result is up to you as long as it doesn't contradict the other parts. Not mass breeding is actually one of the most important parts. However: You're a supporter if you follow the ideas almost all the time but not every time or if you follow some of them all the time. Share this post Link to post
