Dusk Divide Dragon Keep Journals: Previous Page | Next Page

Gotta write fast, OH PUNZ saw that I have the journal and is telling others now. Pesky pygmy, I should eat her.

By Th'overseer! Last entry was round 3 years old! That's a long time for a human. Guess we shouldn't swear by the Th'overseer anymore, since she's back. She's the one that gave me this journal. The Keep all thought it'd been lost! First time I'd seen the Th'overseer, she's not very impressive but then again she's human and they all look the same.

I see Magistrette flying up here. She's feeling irritated. Wow, I've never seen her fly before. I guess I should sign it before every dragon and their mother gets here. I was here first! The Th'overseer gave the journal to
me!

- Concord Quincy, Radiant Angel

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Feb 22, Saturday

State of the youngster's nests:
7 Eggs (4 wildborn)
11 Hatchlings (10 wildborn, 6 named - Loonali, Pompeya, Tilom, Tyrillia, Caspor, Kunei)

I swear, I've never seen such excitement in a dragon. Thank the Overseer thank the gods that Concord Quincy wasn't inclined to fight for the journal. What a pretentious signature. I suppose the Keeper gave him the journal because he was the first dragon who'd grown up after her long absence, along with Concord Acanthite. It would've been much more sensible to hand it to one of us caretakers once she'd found it, since we oversee the Keep's most important duties after hunting.

Speaking of caretakers, I feel we should appoint one or two new ones, as the influx of hatchlings after such inactivity has our current four rather strained.

But I digress... It's a relief the Keeper seems to be back. The Keep has stagnated in her absence. New dragon species have been sighted outside of Keep borders, and the Keeper has her hands full with obtaining their eggs. There's been special care assigned to the... verdigris copper egg, was it? And she's already begun trying to trade Keep-bred eggs for newcomers.

Reading the past entries is rather amusing. The old feuds back then have mostly settled down or been resolved. The most notable thing to have happened was the Silversky Clan's split from Keep territory, since the Keeper was no longer around to record their lineages, regulate their breeding, or assist in recruiting wildborn eggs. Now that the Keeper seems to be back, it'll be interesting to see if they rejoin.

I think it'd be best if I keep the journal with the caretakers for now until the Keep settles down - the Keeper's appearances have stirred to Keep up, to say the least.

- Magistrette, 5th magi and 3rd caretaker of the Keep

2/23/14's Entry
Journal of: Wahwah

I only hatched a few hours ago but I've become really good friends with the other Daydream dragon, Regalious. I was accepted with open arms immediately despite not being "Cave Born", whatever that's suppose to mean. I also got a name the moment I hatched! The human that gathers and watches over us likes to call me "Wahwah" after a friend of his. That human sure must be strange to have a name like Wahwah, but it's my name too so I'll wear it with pride. I've learned the name of the human and a few of the hatchlings. FireFox likes to play too rough so I've been playing with Darkember. They also have a really silly name! Darkember is a real goofball despite that really gloomy name. I've already had to visit Aitheusa, she's good with hatchlings. Anyway, I'm just writing this before I have to go to bed, the human suggested it so I might as well! Nighty night.

You tuck the journal back under the claw of the fragile Daydream hatchling. They're sleeping soundly from such an exciting day.

QUOTE
I hatched a while ago, but no more than a day. It was good though, the egg was getting too small and hot for me. I want a name, but apparently my waverunner friend says that only adults get names. And sometimes matured hatchlings. He has grown his wings already and his trying to fly. I want to help, but first I need to grow my own wings. My friend said that he had to wait for a few days, and I am not so sure I can wait that long.

There is a very mean hellhorse who bullies the other hatchlings. There are also two dorsal dragons, one red and one purple who always stick together. There are two dorsal eggs too, one purple and one red. I think that is strange but cool. I try to make friends with all but the horse one. There is also a newly hatched dragon like me. It claims that it is a pillow dragon, although I can't see anything fluffy about it.

Anyways, I have to go. The only adult of me, a magma is telling me to sleep. Goodnight!

The unnamed hatchling closes the book and hides it in a crack in the cave before walking away to sleep.

My, my! It’s been so long since I remembered to pick up this scroll - since poor little Time passed away, it seems. I can’t even remember everything that’s happened since then, it’s been so busy around here!
There was some other special event, “Valentine’s Day” as the Keeper called it, a little while ago. Shining Orchid, Cadance Rosalie, and Lyra Hearts seemed very excited about it - they’re Valentine dragons themselves, and Cadance and Shining are the oldest in the clan, apart from our leader Albus Ghost.
Cadance and Lyra both bred in the week before Valentine’s, though Shining abstained - he didn’t seem to be fond of any of the female dragons that flirted with him. Lyra chose one of our male Moonstones as her mate, while Cadance paired off with Glitz the Wrapping-Wing. It seems strange to think he was an egg when I first got this journal, and now he has fathered offspring of his own!
Both matings produced two eggs - I’ve never seen this happen before, but the Keeper says it sometimes does with particular kinds of dragons. The firstborn of each pair was kept, while the others were taken away to live with other clans. I am informed that they are doing perfectly well. The ones that stayed with us are now lovely adult females named Skyla Rosalie and Lovers’ Moon - Cadance’s and Lyra’s daughters, respectively. They’re both near-carbon copies of their mothers.
Some of us non-Valentine dragons have bred too since I wrote last. I now have two more children, both Coppers - a daughter, who again was taken away as an egg, and a son, my thirteenth offspring, who was kept - apparently because he is a “Z-code”. His name is “Z’Golden Pride”.
The Nhiostrifes, Cold and Storm, also mated for the first time! I wish them joy. They also gave up their firstborn egg, though I believe both they and the Keeper somewhat regret it now. I hear it has grown up, into a male. Storm moped a little over it - he is the sensitive one of the pair, while Cold would most likely have found an egg and later hatchling to be something of an annoyance. Maybe I am wrong, though - she does seem fond of the other hatchlings, so she might like her own someday. I hope they will soon have another egg to raise.
Most recently, a pair of Pillows, Birger and Carita, mated. The first week, there was no result, but yesterday, helped by a spell from one of our Purples, they laid a lovely little soft, speckled egg. Jetecu, one of our Pinks, was called in, so the hatchling will probably be male. The Keeper already plans to name it “Erling”.

As well as our own offspring, I was flapped off my wings caring for other Valentine youngsters that the Keeper brought in. Those consisted of two Heartseekers (who smell charmingly of chocolate), another Sweetling, two that seem to be only referred to as “Oh-Nines”, and lastly, two newly-discovered Radiant Angels.
And aside from those… I have completely lost track of the other hatchlings I have raised in the past months. Suffice it to say that the nursery has been overflowing with eggs and hatchlings, and the Keeper seems to be having a great deal of luck, since quite a few brought from outside have been of rare breeds. They have, however, been taking a little longer to hatch than usual - apparently this has something to do with Valentine’s Day, and Keepers taking in more abandoned eggs, so that those left tend to be older. Honestly, although the Keeper attempted to explain it, I am not sure it understands the situation itself.

Unfortunately, just as new dragons have come into the clan, some of the older ones among us have left. The Keeper asked them to go a month or so ago, about twenty-six of them, including all our Stripe and Seasonal dragons among others. The Keeper discovered they were inbred, and felt that they could not stay in the clan. It seemed upset about this, though the dragons themselves seemed to like the prospect of being wild. I confess, I have since wondered what that would be like - but ultimately I believe I would rather belong to a clan, and have a name, a warm cave, and a mate and young by my side.

In among all this the Keeper set up a small garden just outside the cave. It didn’t bother to explain why. Pal, our youngest Magi, was recruited to cast a protection spell around it, and teleport away the full-grown flowers as gifts to the Keepers of other clans. Unfortunately his attention wandered and the garden was totally obliterated a few days ago, down to the last seed. I suspect the involvement of our two Misfit Pygmies, or possibly a Black dragon testing out a destructive spell.

Perhaps the most significant event recently, though, has been the news that there are now over 400 dragons in our clan, counting the hatchlings and eggs. The 400th was a Spotted Greenwing egg. Most of the clan seem rather excited, though I will admit, the most enthusiastic seem to be those who are least affected. Those of us who occupy higher positions in the hierarchy are… well, we have a more realistic perspective on things.
Albus seems as indifferent as he does to everything, but I can tell Iskfin is worried, although he tries to hide it. As leader of the defence team, he is responsible for the clan’s safety, yet his eighty recruits are stretched thin. I am concerned for him - I fear he might work himself into the ground rather than fail any of us.
Perhaps I should encourage him to use a journal, too. It may help.

(Note: I call the Keeper “it” only because I cannot get it to talk about human concepts of gender. I have attempted to broach the subject out of curiosity, but it always suddenly becomes distracted when I do.)

im doing this one on my newly hatch hatchlings.
by dark and light crafting
THE newnbies dragon duo
that is what they call dark crafting and light crafting which is us we were a newly found dragon and legend tells that we are a twin breed heres the legend
one day a vampire bit a dragon egg it hatched as a gmo dragon and had the chariteristics ove your average vampire but was a dragon he soon bit eggs some died othershatched well back then those vampires drank dragon blood as often as charizard2468s freind ate candy. well now reader you may be asking how did charizard2468 get into the story thats a complete mistory. now lets get back to the story now you know how cv vampire eggs with no dragon linieges are created. but know this is where we come into the story. there was onevampire able to summon our breed of dragon his freinds asked him why he said that he had lost his fangs and know he couldent bite eggs. his freinds felt sorry but then after he explained a gardian of nature came and gave him temporary fangs. he was realy happy. but they wore away after biting a single egg!!! as resut our breed died. i know this dosent make sense but if tell you this you will understand. one day he was closed to dieing when crash bang bang. his tail swept his remaining teeth shatterd. he then reilise the first few dragon eggs appeered he saw a huge pack of gardian of natures he imiedently reilized that the gardian of natures where combining there powers to help him grow back his jaws and then they stopped and know he could summon theese new eggs that the pack leader freind summoned. it was tremendus powers but these powers only lasted 3 days after that he couldent summon eggs so often but he could summon the every 3 minutes. our freind was one of the first of the breed
the end

i think i have the very first of the breed of dragon that was unusally heavy

The Keeper just rushed into the cave holding what appears to be a tiny tree. It was almost incoherent, and I feared it might faint - in fact I was poised to catch it - but it managed to keep its feet. From what gibberish I can make out, the thing is a “leetle tree”, and is exceedingly rare. I’m fairly sure I’ve heard of them before - they change throughout the year, and are useful for timing breeding seasons, among other things. The Keeper is currently occupied planting this tree - in the nursery, rather unwisely. The next fire-breather we have will send it up in smoke. The current batch of hatchlings are aiding, abetting, and interfering in the endeavour.
That reminds me - in among our hatchlings just now are some freshly discovered breeds! Six of them, to be precise - three of a dark-coloured, large breed, called simply “Brutes”, and three pale green “Fever Wyverns”. The Keeper has told us what it knows about the two breeds, and all I can say is that the defence team will soon be nicely bolstered. The lot of them are already showing signs of their future temperaments - most of their time is spent on mock battles between the two breeds. The Brutes usually win simply due to the size advantage. Our Black hatchling, Riydy, likes to join in too, though it continually switches sides and sometimes gets so caught up in the excitement that it ends up attacking its own tail. The others - two Greenwings, two Canopies, and a White - just stay out of things.
There is very little else to write about - this was just a quick jot. As you can tell, our numbers are continuing to grow. It is still a concern. There are even rumblings of a relocation, which I suppose is unavoidable eventually, but it would be dangerous. Just now, I think it is better to stay put as long as possible, rather than risk lives journeying to new territory. There are the aquatic dragons to consider, for one thing - by their very nature, it would be impossible for them to follow a land-dwellers’ migration.
Lastly, I mentioned I would try to get Iskfin to write a journal. He has not yet taken up this suggestion, though the Keeper left a so-called strategically placed scroll outside his den. (Personally I’d call it incredibly unsubtle.) It is still sitting in the same place. Our Paper dragon often makes friendly overtures towards it. I hope Iskfin picks it up before things go too far.

Alright! Finally learnt how to write! Although I went through a few hundred scrolls trying.. But nevermind! The hatchlings are growing up! We've never seen any dragons like them. But they're still welcome here! The little green one got overexcited and jumped on me. It's tail stung me. It hurts pretty bad, and I feel feverish. Anyhow, it's time to take a nap. The other dragons are teaching the newbies stuff. Orange juice seems rather attached to the big black one. It's already bigger than both of us. Blizzburn is really pissed with all of them. They keep stepping on her. They keep trying to ride Drakaht, but the problem is that they keep jumping on him all the time, and he can't handle the weight. Dragroot is teaching them how to fight. Hold on, Melo is comin back with a few eggs in a wagon. I'll go check them out.
Ciao!

The human that frequents this cavern system suggested that I inscribe my thoughts into a tome known as a journal. Bizarre human, that one, always carting a quill and papyrus around to jot notes at the strangest of times - even in the midst of civil unrest. Apparently writing soothes the mind and writing in a journal allows me to vent... what was it? Ah yes, my thoughts, in a non-aggressive manner. I am unsure if she is aware of the extent of my violent nature. It is one matter to remain in the company of those that kill to feed, yet it is an entirely different matter to encourage those beings to be calm. I do not see myself bringing harm to this human, even I have standards, although I cannot say the same for others. She is at least good for one thing, entertainment, for it took all of my self control to not snort in incredulity at her statement.
I am the monster little human children dream of in the dark of night. I feast on the yolk of unhatched young and the flesh of juvenile hatchlings. Few have survived the unadulterated viciousness of my bite. Many dragons have challenged my right to sustenance and yet none have lived to tell the tale. I have killed before, and I will do it again, for the ecstasy I experience upon ending another's life is intoxicating. Aggression is in my nature, to deny it, would be to deny what I am.
Thus, the human's objective of calming my thoughts is but a fool's errand. However, as I respect the human, I shall humour her in writing this journal entry. It is one of the few things the Coven Leader, Unahzaalbahlok has not outlawed within the section of the cavern dedicated to the nocturnal dwellers. There are rules for just about every possible action within this Guardian of Nature forsaken place, it annoys me to no end that I have to answer to him. I suppose being the second in command has its perks, although that evil mistress of his, Sahqondur, has proved to be a thorn in my side for as long as I have been in this position.

Hah, Unahzaalbahlok is such a charlatan. Claiming the need for fasting in order to not bring down the wrath of the diurnal dwellers for all but a few days of each month is preposterous. The sun worshippers should fear us! They should thank the Legendaries that sunlight is something we as a species of dragon avoid! If I could wander the land during the day, I would be an unstoppable omen, a force to be reckoned with! But alas the night is my only mistress. Although, the cover of darkness proves to be a useful tool in sating my ever growing hunger for blood...

QUOTE
I didn't get to write in my book for some time. My master made me along with a thunder and ice try and summon a powerful dragons for nights on end. Soon the cave was filled up with more eggs and hatchlings. There once were two strange eggs, none of the dragons have seen them before. Not even the old Skywing that sits in its own cave! One was very large and heavy, almost as big as a pygmy, while another was green with an orange pattern.

They hatched, the big, heavy one revealing quite a muscly hatchling while the other one seemed to be sick. Master says that they are Brute Dragons and Fever Dragons. And the same eggs appeared again. Apparently they were just 'released into the cave', whatever that means.

Other than that, the vampires of the clan, Capulet seem to be happy that there are 'successful egg bitings'. I am so very clueless, I am still young and need to ask older dragons about it. Many say that our Master participates in 'breeding projects' which mean that they breed special lineages or styles with us. Also that other humans gift eggs, and that I was a gift myself!

Three more dorsal hatchlings and a dead dorsal shell. It was a failed vampire bite -although I am still clueless about this 'biting'-. The Brute hatchlings fight with the others, rocking the six eggs around. I try my best to keep them safe, especially a green Canopy egg which is very close to hatching.

There is a newly grown dorsal that is following the Valentines Dragons around. The younger, Radiant Angel Dragons tease him. I find it both amusing and sickening and often see others snickering as he chases one across the main cave.

Anyways, my second entry is done. I shall sleep now, carefully nestling with the six eggs.

The magma hides the book once again before gently moving a starry egg closer to the warmth of its body before sleeping.

Yet another fruitless day of trying to recruit for my bunny army. I found an egg that could potentially add to my army, but an Elder dragons told me it was a gift and could not enlist for my army. StoneBunny was being disobedient today and LeafBunny seemed listless. Well, there is always tomorrow.

I found a page from a journal! From my newest rare hatchling, no less! Hmm... let me look at this...

Apparently you can read my writing now, so...

This is my first day as a hatchling! Everything's so exciting, and the human who got my egg seems to really like me. She says I'm 'rare' and 'purebred' and 'free of inbreeding', whatever all that means. There are so many dragons here, and not many of them are like me, but they all seem nice enough. There are hatchlings just my age to play with too. Other dragons call us our parent's names and then dragonet, although some of them are called their species name.

Well, got to go! Sylvestia- she's the leader in our clan, apparently she was the first egg the master ever got!- says there's lots that the dragons need to teach me, and although reading and writing are great, I have to learn other lessons too! Hope to write later!

[The paper was curled into a scroll, so some of the writing, while readable, is rather twisted. The wording is in a cursive script, though it does seem a little shaky and wobbly on the larger words.]
------------------
April Seventh,
The days have been passing nicely, with Pepper taking most of my time. He gave me a flower for April Fools; I believe that he doesn't know about the pranking side for that day however, since it was not rigged for anything.
Some other hatchlings his age tricked him into falling on Willow while she was napping. While it may have been good fun, a young Cheese has no chance against an angry Vine. It may take awhile for me to forgive her and the other hatchlings, but at least Pepper wasn't hurt. I can't say anything about Willow's belly, however, or the young pranksters heads.

It may seem all fine and dandy now, but there have been rumors circulating about a squabble a couple of miles away. The Crimson that the human finds amusing has found more followers and had started a fight with the Trio. From what is said, he fled after Sebastian fried his wings, the other rebels in tow. I heard Skitzor talk to the human about some of the members and it seems that even a Valentines Dragon would stoop so low as to attack its master. The Sweetling in question, however, caused friendly fire and actually helped the Trio.
That does not forgive it for trying to claw out Silvias's eye.
I feel helpless, with the human not seeming to take this seriously. While no one has died, there have been injuries and some hatchlings have been taken hostage. The few we get back suffer from tortuous wounds and the Whites say that they may need to stay with them for treatment permanently.
No one has been sent out to be the law or check the borders. Human villages have been burned down more frequently and it is a blessing that no human has died yet. The fact that most powerful Holiday dragons continue to stay on the humans side is the only good thing so far, but the human hasn't even tried to get them to fight back.
It isn't that they want to. I've spoken to some of the leaders and they are ready to go, but the human has forbidden them from attacking on their own.

I've tried to speak to her, but she brushes me off. When I spoke to Xil, he seemed downcast and stressed, though he said that any fighting against the rebels will be punished.
I can't make sense of this. I've known the human for my whole life, which has been for a long time and I'm not even the oldest dragon. If a human has that sort of power, to stay alive far longer than any dragon I know, to have the power to keep a Zombie by her side and tamed, then why does she not crush the attacking force? They are not even at their full strength, yet the human allows them to do what they want.

What will she do next, restrict the Whites from helping the injured and broken?
...
Ah, I don't know. Maybe there is a spy in the ranks, maybe there is some hidden plan I don't know of. Of the few dragons who are close to the human, myself included, I think only Xil and Sin Master know anything. The Marrow and Black have been disappearing more often lately, though in different ways. Xil sticks by the humans side while Sin Master has left randomly throughout the days and nights. She doesn't give any reason or explanation.
I've spoken with the Trios, and they are starting to become worried. While they don't say much, they seem uneasy with my prying. It could be said that they know the plan, but they seem just as surprised as everyone else when a new development happens.

What human doesn't tell the Guardian Summoners their plans?

I don't know what is pulling the strings, but I do know what I have to do. If any of this gets to Pepper, I will leave. Damn the human and the dragons who don't want to fight and protect, I don't care. If Pepper comes to harm, then I will kill this rebellion myself, as well as challenge the human to a contest of leadership. With that amount of power, shouldn't one protect as many as they can?

It is time to go.
There are now well over 500 dragons in our clan. I can scarcely believe it - only two months ago, perhaps less, I was writing of the arrival of our 400th! And now… well.
This should be a happy occasion, and to some extent, it is, yet now certain facts are absolutely undeniable. Our present territory is far too small to support such a population. Already, fights and scuffles over cave-space and food are breaking out - it feels as if an hour does not go by without the sounds of angry roars and the slap of wings lifted in a threat display. A council of the leaders and prominent clan members (of which I am one) was convened a week ago, and it was unanimously decided that a new settlement must be located as soon as possible, before disputes turn to blood-spilling.
Many of our more eager clan members volunteered to scout out this settlement. Iskfin and his deputies had a deal of a time sorting the glory-seekers and the unskilled from those who may actually prove useful… and, of course, those who would go anyway so might as well go officially. The chosen have been flying out in small parties over the last few days, each group headed by a Black. Iskfin has hand-picked his own group, which will leave last, as he must supervise the whole operation. Among that group, I am proud to say, is my son Golden Growl. Albus’s son Sehbeny is also included, though there were objections raised to that, chiefly by Albus himself. Leader though he is, he still seems to forget - or perhaps wilfully ignore - that Sehbeny is after all a male dragon in his prime, and cannot remain only a support and lieutenant to his sire for the rest of his life.
As for myself, I will be leaving last of all, as I must support and guide the youngest members of our clan to a safe and well-established new home. I, or one of my daughters if I must carry flightless hatchlings, will also convey the Keeper there.

In other news, there has been yet another “new release” - this time the newly discovered breeds are Glaucus Drakes and Howler Drakes. We currently have two hatchlings and one near-hatching egg of each. The Glaucuses are flashy, with white and blue colouring and stripes along their back and currently-small wings, while the Howlers are at the moment relatively plain, with dark bodies and rather pointy yellow heads. The Keeper comments that they will become handsomer as they grow, as it has observed some adult specimens on its travels.
The one problem is the noise they make - I am used to rambunctious hatchlings, but the Howlers constantly chirp, chirp, chirp, chirp… Even the egg joins in on the act. It is such a defining characteristic that the Keeper has named them for it, calling one Orianne Chirp and the other Judicael Chirp. Since the Pinks influenced their eggs, we already know they’ll be female and male respectively. The Glaucuses are not yet named, since the Keeper is struggling to think up suitable names for them.

I am afraid that this is all I can write just now, as there is a lot of hustle and bustle taking up my attention, and I believe I just heard my name being called. I will make another entry tomorrow, or if not, whenever a new location is found.

Decided to give one for my recently adult dragon, Flying Icarus. Looks like he's making good use to it.

QUOTE
The Sixteenth of April, 2014

I have become an adult of my own right, as did my beautiful Angel. True, none of us expected to become adults when we were maturing, but it caught up with us. We are now expectant parents to our first egg, beautiful like its mother. But Angel had been sore for an hour (by the time of this writing). I will do my best to keep her comfortable and happy.
I had been reading over my lineage with her, where I have been in a line of proud dragons, a few being like myself. Some expanded for many years, others just recent. However, I had also found out of my half-brothers, half-sisters, cousins, nieces, and nephews that I had never known. Perhaps my father was far more legendary than I knew of.
Then I asked Angel about her lineage. Being dragons, we use telepathy to speak with each other.
"Oh, I do not know about my lineage, Icarus," she answers with a sigh. "I hardly know if I have as much family as you do."
"Yea, but our egg, if it survives when it hatches, will start your lineage," I assured to her with comfort.
"And it will continue yours," she added. Naturally, Angel had a point. How I love her dearly.
Then there was the matter of the rest of our clan. Angel and I were the only adults for now, being that the hatchlings-- Hero, Tche, Bastille, Throne, Crown, and Bob-- have yet to mature, let alone be gendered. Bastille and Bob were also Magi dragons (Angel's kind), while Hero, Throne, and Crown were different kinds entirely. And I am the lone Ice dragon and leader of the clan.
We hope to expand one day, but not today.

I must admit, I do get quite antsy, having to look after and provide for the eggs and hatchlings. I wish to travel, to hear the news and view locations that other members of the group call home. We're spread out over a wide range of habitats, and although I do get visits and hear news secondhand, it would be a great thing to talk to the others personally. Some of them I've not seen in months.

However, for now I have to stay and tend to the eggs and hatchlings. Those that I can, anyway. The Glaucus hatchlings had to be moved to join the adults, since they seemed really miserable. The others seem to be getting along, although the constant noise of the Howler disturbs everyone. And I have to tend to the eggs as well, making sure that they don't get too hot. Or cold, for that matter. My own egg gets closer to hatching. Never thought I'd have family of my own. Still not quite used to the idea.

Flying Icarus's journal has another entry. I wonder what this reads?

QUOTE
The Twentieth of April, 2014

Everything seemed to change dramatically.

My and Angel's beautiful egg has finally hatched, revealing a fine Magi hatchling that survived egghood. They were henceforth named "Heir", as I hoped to one day leave my clan to our child. I had taken a look at Heir's lineage recently and found that they had included the warmth of my life into the records. I never felt very proud in my life up until this point. We are now in talks of producing another egg once we are ready again.
However, everything seemed to change.
Bastille, Bob, Hero, Tche, and Crown are now adults and gendered to be females. Throne is now male, but he has hold off on mating for now, as he would choose who to mate.
Our Caretaker, bless her human heart, was visited by a Mystical wise-one, who gave her and our clan two new eggs and hatchlings. They were the elusive Thunder and Magma eggs, while we were given two Pink hatchlings, two Hellhorse hatchlings, and a Red and Purple Caveborn hatchlings. According to the Mystical wise-one, the Thunder Dragon, Magma Dragon, and I would summon a rare Dragon. But I doubt this to be true. The eggs were not yet hatched and adults at the time, whilst I was still caring for my and Angel's child in the meantime.
Then the Hellhorse hatchlings, named Secret and Action by our Caretaker, had to be concealed away as they would be too violent to handle as they became adults and producing their own egg; the Pink hatchlings, named Perfect and Cutie, became adults and made influence over one of the eggs before producing one of their own; the Red hatchling, Leon, became a female adult; the Purple hatchling, Spyro, became a male adult (no doubt that he and Leon would most likely mate); and the Thunder and Magma eggs hatched and named Chaos and Power.
No doubt that I would have to believe in fate now.

It may seem a bit illogical that paper somehow got into an egg, but my whiptail egg is somehow keeping a journal:

QUOTE
Dear journal, This egg seems protective, although I hear noises outside the shell. At one point in time, I felt a bit weightless. The ground underneath the egg seemed to be taken out from under me, as the underside of the egg seemed thin! It was scary, but I was eventually put down. It feels much better to be on solid ground. I wonder what that was.
I hear footsteps coming this way! Huge footsteps! Maybe mommy is coming to care for me! I’m shaking with excitement.
“This is the third whiptail on the scroll, Sockrael.” A voice says.
That’s not mommy.
“I realize that Swirls, but I just couldn’t resist! They’re too cute!” The voice that is supposedly Sockrael says. Is she a human?
“Was it a cave born, or abandoned?” Swirls, the dragon, asks.
“Cave born. There were no other dragons around.”
“I see.” The egg is being lifted again! It feels so weird!
“It’s light compared to the rest.” Swirls, who seems closer, says.
“It was laid recently, meaning it hasn’t grown much yet.” Sockrael says. What are they talking about?
“It’ll be a nice addition to the scroll.” Swirls says as my egg is placed on the ground. What is happening to me?
As footsteps become more distant, I hear them speaking.
“We should probably check on the new pink dragon. I think it had a soft shell.” Swirl’s voice is much fainter now.
“And you haven’t told me that it’s sick?!”
“It’s sick!?”
“We need to fog it before it dies, Swirls!” The footsteps run away faster.
I can’t make out what they’re saying anymore, but I’m a bit glad that there isn’t any talking. They kind of scare me, but also seem a bit protective.
