2017-02-14 - Valentine's Day!

Well the adult is pretty enough.

I don't like the new hatchlings, especially the S1 one, but what is important for lineages and for seeing it on out scroll is the adult, so that's ok.

 

I just hope we won't never see how the "original" adult would have been (so we will never know what we missed) and that TJ will explain what happened a bit better, just to make us understand and avoid speculations

Well, I feel that the name I chose for one of my new hatchies- Weirdest Valentine's Ever- is appropriate in two ways:

1) It's purple, which I wouldn't call a traditional Valentine's color.

2) The sprites have changed since release. I'm not sure if this has happened before (I mean on a small scale- I know things like the early sprites and eggs have changed a few times, but that's always been to many dragons at once) but it's the first time it's happened since I came here, I think.

(I KNEW the sprites changed! I wasn't crazy! )

Due to unforeseen circumstances, the released sprites had to be changed. I apologize for any inconvenience that may cause, though thankfully it has no chance to impact lineages, since all dragons are CB and none have bred yet.

I used your guide and wiki. The game let me "start over". Is there anything to gain from doing it over? Will my badge on DC change?

I can't help it, I'm disappointed. Maybe they will grow on me, but for the time being, I'm very disappointed. (Not that anybody cares.)

And I think Naruhina has a point, the new sprites do indeed look like an earlier, "unfinished" version of the dragon. I don't know what's going on behind the scenes, but I'm truly sorry that this had to happen.

As for the alts... I feel like the original artists still should receive them. It might be a bittersweet thing, because odds are they were more attached to the 'first' set of sprites, but conceptualists have gotten artist's alts in the past despite not having actually touched the sprite themselves.

 

It will be really sad if there are no alts this year.

I strongly agree with this. It may not make anything different, but the original spriters really do deserve alts as well as the new spriter.

Crit for the new S1, if that's okay: They might look a little odd because they're off balance. Her head is pulling her weight to the left, but she don't have anything to act as a counterweight. Her legs are mostly straight up and down, so they can't compensate. The front right (our left) leg in particular makes it look like she's falling forward because it's tucked back and not supporting her weight as it holds the pearl. Maybe if she was sitting it would be easier to balance things out?

 

I actually do kinda' like the new colors more, though. They feel a bit warmer than the original ones.

Certainly does. For what its worth, the original hatchlings had me seriously excited. I'm very sad to see them gone.

The badge doesn't change, I've done it a few times. There is a guide if you do wanna finish it though.

I do like the adult sprite. But the old hatchling sprites were so much better and I was actually excited to see what they looked like when I saw them. Because obviously it was going to look different.

 

Not so much anymore.What the heck is going on .Did the dragons get swapped? Seriously?

 

So many things to be frustrated about these days on here. smh

 

And to the people getting mad at the negative response to this:

 

If someone would actually shed some light on the situation, instead of keeping everyone in the dark as usual, then maybe it would be easier to understand? Just a thought. Keeping a player base in the dark in ANY game without giving a reason at all to a change is not good, at all. I can't even think of another game that makes changes but doesn't say when/why.

 

Could have at least put in "These will be placeholder sprites. *Gives reason why.*" :<

The player base will always be kept dark on some things, whether it is DC or not. Why? There could be many reasons. Not wanting to insult people, not wanting to cause absurd levels of drama, and so on.

 

If you have ever been behind the scenes anywhere you would understand that there are some things that just need to be kept quiet. I don't mean scandals or illegal activity, but just certain conversations and sequences of events that are among the artists only. Some people change their mind and don't like something, and request a replacement. Certain sprites didn't match the guidelines. Someone had a dispute and wants sprites taken down. Any and all of these things can happen regularly. That's life.

 

I get what you are saying. It is a big mystery and we all want to know how/why such a major change has happened. But ultimately? It is for the greater benefit of the site to sigh and move on. Don't keep dark clouds stirring for no definitive reason.

 

This is TJ's site and he has no obligation to tell us anything, especially behind the scenes stuff. Tazzay and EEF: Sorry this had to happen to you. What a let down.
