action log features?

Since we now have really large action logs. It'd be cool to get some features to help just keep everything straight.

 

Here's some features I think would be helpful!

 

* being able to clear the log's data so that it's a clean slate or delete certain things

* being able to filter for certain actions (such as trading or breeding)

* being able to sort the log by certain actions (probably not useful unless we're able to clear out old data as well)

* maybe making either a whitelist or blacklist on what actions the log logs

(example: someone only want to log everything but eggs they abandon or pick up in the AP since they pick up and drop AP eggs rapidly looking for good lineages. It would be cool if they could tell the system they don't want it to log AP pick ups and drops which would clutter up in their action log)

 

 

:3 even just one or two of these features would be really helpful if you can implement them TJ!

 

If not then oh well, not the end of the world.

I think you may have read wrong.

 

like we could choose to like delete actions and stuff. to clear up clutter. Not TJ just wipes all the data we already have. We'd get to choose when we want to remove the data.

Yep, that's how I understood it. Not a fan because of the potential for data loss.

 

I'll certainly grant we aren't likely to need old action data - but in my experience, the things you delete are the things you'll find yourself needing three weeks later. I'd rather just see filters to hide any cruft you don't want to dig through.

I would love to be able to filter the actions if possible. I'm neutral on the ability to delete things because I don't see myself actually doing that.

The amount of actions currently logged does seem a bit excessive, though. I think 30 days of data + the option to filter out actions you don't want to see would be nice, though. :3

I've no quarrel with that actually - quite handy to go back and see if that influence REALLY failed last year or if my memory failed instead !

I saw a few posts about inaccurate actions in the log, i.e. eggs incubated by the wrong dragon. I don't really want to have those there, and, if given a chance, would delete them.

I don't think the ability to go back to 2012 is super valuable, especially at the cost of having 154 pages.

That seems a good compromise. No huge backlog of data, but still keeping anything that might still be relevant for viewing.

I'm a-okay with this. Getting to see some of my years-old actions was a nice blast of nostalgia but definitely not something I can see really ever needing. xP

Hmm, not sure how I feel about limiting it to 30 days. Easier access (like filtering for specific actions, or for a specific time window) would be incredibly helpful, even with a shorter action log. But I actually like having the old data available. While I won't use it every day, I am very glad right now that I was able to check my action log from 2014 Back then I forgot to write down or mark the zombie attempts that I successfully revived. Since those can't be successfully revived if killed another time, I'm really happy I could rename them now accordingly.

 

Also, I'd like to point out that we have a couple of BSA's with a cooldown of one month (bite, corporealize, not sure about summon). So I think if limiting seems necessary, 6 weeks or maybe even 3 months might be a better limit than 30 days.

My main thing tho is WHICH actions show up in the log. I'd prefer an overall check box system to choose what shows up in my log. The only actions I really need/want to see are Influence, Incubate, Breeding and Teleport (and Teleport is iffy). Everything else is just redundant to ME.. someone else might need different options.. which is why I ask for the check box system. I can choose what I want to see.. others can choose what they want to see.. and it's permanent until changed, not like a filter which is only temporary.

Very much this. Mine fills up with hides and unhides....

 

But PLEASE can it include autoed eggs, so that we don't wonder (and even more, so that new players don't wonder...) - and Bred x with y could perhaps tell us if it was successful ?

I agree that thirty days seems a bit short. Am totally for the idea of filtering somehow if the log stays longer though!

ya exactly what I was feeling. 100+ pages is really excessive... which is why I was interested in features to combat it.

 

Filtering would be awesome still as well as a whitelist/blacklist feature

 

tbh though just being able to store more actions like this is really nice. I remember a month ago I bred a lot of dragons for the Targeted Mass Breed Raffle and I overwrote like 100 or so breedings probably because I didn't remember that the log only stores a certain number of actions

 

I don't mind 30 days, since I mostly just use it for breeding and trades. but I can see why others want longer.

Has this been switched back to 30 days? When I go to the action log and hit the double arrow button to take me back to the last page, it tells me I can only view up to the past 30 days. However, if I click on each of the numbers, I can keep on going far past 30 days.

No, I was getting that error before this suggestion even popped up. For some reason, I can't go directly to the last page, but can click through all the pages to get there.
