Posted May 24, 2016 (edited) These turned out to be magnificent, every last one of them! for one reason or another i am particularly fond of the Tarantula Hawk Drake. The colors are really cool. i hope i can find a pretty color match to breed them with. ( i am thinking greater spotted drake ) Nexus are gorgeous, i cant wait to see if they will get more crystals the longer they stay on our scrolls or if that is just a fun part of the description. thank you artists and tj its been a great celebration Edited May 24, 2016 by nepenthe.catharsis Share this post Link to post

Posted May 24, 2016 One question, though: How should I imagine the Candelabras luring prey with their lights ? I mean, when you aren't living from insects or roaming the deep sea I'm at a loss as to what prey would be lured in by moving (or steady) lights ? Most animals I can think of tend to avoid light [in the sense of individual light sources in the dark, not daylight] or are spooked by it. And these guys don't sound like the type that preys on lost wanderers in the night... The lights have a weak hypnotic quality. It's strong enough to affect non-magical, less intelligent creatures like birds and deer, but doesn't really have much of an effect on dragons and such. I didn't mention it earlier, but Candelabras are omnivorous, and prefer to stick to eating insects, anyway--they merely have the ability to lure prey when necessary. However, 'converted' individuals tend to hunt more often, and use thus rely on this alluring quality, which strengthens a bit in response to its heightened usage, like a magical 'muscle' of sorts. Posted May 24, 2016 You did get a bit carried away, didn't you! But thanks for sharing. I think Pyro and rainbow Copper are my faves. They go well with a lot of things, though. Yeap, a bit... So far my favourite are: Frilled, Ember, Grave, Autumn and Mageia =) And here are Drakes and Two-Headed Share this post Link to post
Posted May 24, 2016 Oh, I think I remember the Nexi! Or at least a very similar concept, a fire and ice two-headed. I love their meaty, throaty necks. And that's good, because I get 2x the neck to look at! I'm definitely breeding Candelabras with Spirit Wards, oh man. Glowly protector lineage? Yes please. They look like they'd be good for festivals as well. And I love the new drakes! I love drakes in general, so I'm glad we're growing their rather pitiful breeding pool. They both have really nice colors, the wings complement the body wonderfully. Very interesting diet on the Tarantula Hawk, I'd want a long, bony snout if I were eating potentially venomous animals too. The Morphodrakes look so calm and pretty, much friendlier, haha. I love the wing pattern on both of them, looks like they match. Hopefully my two will gender oppositely so I can breed them right away. Share this post Link to post
Posted May 24, 2016 Yeap, a bit... So far my favourite are: Frilled, Ember, Grave, Autumn and Mageia =) And here are Drakes and Two-Headed We are so gonna have to do bloodswaps, because I'm thinking of doing all of those except Frill, too Thanks so much for all the lineage pics! <33 Share this post Link to post
Posted May 24, 2016 Frankenweenie, you da real MVP ;D I'm quite partial to Candelabra x Lumina, Antarean, Brute, Ember, and Gold. I also may end up doing a spiral with my Desipis alts--those are always fun for me to work on c: Share this post Link to post
Posted May 24, 2016 OMG THE NEXUS I'M IN LOVE THEY ARE THE BEST! The other ones as well <3 Share this post Link to post
Posted May 24, 2016 The more I look at them the more I love the wings on the female Nexus dragons *w* so many small little subtle shading details, and I love the way they're spread out, ahhh Share this post Link to post

Posted May 24, 2016 (edited) While waiting male Candelabra grows up, I decided to make a few previews. I guess I got a little carried away... So if someone is curious here is an album with female Candelabra x All Seasonals, Pillow, Falconiform Wyvern, Ember, Black Tea, Balloon, Seragamma Wyvern, Storm, Sunrise, Sunset, Nocturne, Terrae, Bright Pink, Turpentine, Water Walker, Golden Wyvern, Green, Antarean, Anagallis, Almandine, Spessartine, Canopy, Lunar Herald, Moonstone, Ridgewing, Sunstone, Sunsong, Undine, White, Sapphire, Bright-Breasted Wyvern, Brute, Cassare, Frostbite, Gold, Horse, Ice, Thunder, Magma, Yellow-Crowned, Black Capped Teimarr, Dark Green, Daydream, Gold-horned Tangar, Guardian, Skywing, Water, Water Horse, Frilled, Nebula, Shadow Walker, Grave, Blusang Lindwurm, all Xenowyrms, all Coppers, Enrage/Pacify Aegis, Mutamore, Gemshard,... Haha. Hey, if you're gonna do something, might as well go the whole hog, am I right? So far, really loving how they look with Antareans, Aegis (normal and enraged), Purple Nebula, Shadow Walkers (Of course I'm gonna say that ) and Celestials. They seem to look best with pale dragons, or blue ones. Just my opinion, anyway I think the Morphos look best with the Glaucus (with Night Glories a close second) and the Tarantula Hawks look good with the Howlers and Night Glories. And the Nexus look really good with Hook Talons. Edit; Thank you for the Candles x Spirit Ward mockups, cbussiere! They look so good together! Posted May 24, 2016 Morphodrakes look the most interesting to me... they ar probably based on the butterfly, but those patterns look like large scales and I love that <3 Share this post Link to post

Posted May 24, 2016 And here are Drakes and Two-Headed Thanks for that! The Morphodrake X Night Glory mockup looks really nice. And Night/Day Glories are based on butterflies as well, right? So it seems fitting. Tarentula Hawk X Ochredrake make a lovely pairing as well. Share this post Link to post
Posted May 24, 2016 I made some mockups of Candelabras x Spirit Wards. I really like this, especially with female SWs. Oh boy, another spirit Ward line I have to work on. why would you do this to me?! Also, does anyone remember what color mana corresponds to what element? Is the pink mana on the Nexus' tails destruction magic? Share this post Link to post
Posted May 24, 2016 Okay, the drakes totally steal the show this time around! They're ALL fabulous, though! So many fun checker ideas! Share this post Link to post
Posted May 24, 2016 Speaking of frills, we found this while going through a researcher's notes. In totally unrelated news my wrist hurts a lot now. A valiant effort was made to transcribe this while I was sleeping, so here's the whole thing in legible actual text: Once considered pests, the prolific Frilled Dragon fell victim to cruel extermination programs in recent years. Farmers had made a habit of killing them on sight, and several wizards were called upon to assist. What they concocted was a terrible plague, which prevented natural reproduction. It spread rapidly to wild dragons, until predation and poaching led scholars to believe they had gone entirely extinct. We have recently found a small pack of survivors that appear to be immune to this plague. Samples have been taken in an effort to cure and innoculate our domesticated specimens. Preliminary tests appear to be promising. -L Share this post Link to post
Posted May 24, 2016 OOh all of them are NICE! Morphodrake? As in the butterfly? These pretties are my favorite of this release followed by the Candleabras, who I definitely see the Valentine's-y influence in. Makes me think of a fancy, elegant, candlelit restaurant. Darnit I was going to leave both of my Aegis dragons Pacified but I might just have to Enrage one because I think he'd look stunning with a Candle lady. (Thanks for the extra info, PieMaster! That would be an interesting pairing since both breeds are quite protective and willing to resort to violence if angered.) The face on the Tarantula Hawk Drake looks adorably mischevious but the pose makes me think it's suddenly dropping out of a tree right in front of someone kinda like actual spiders so eek. I think these guys will look good with Howlers and maybe GSDs will get more love, too. The Nexuses (Nexi? idk what the plural would be) are cool too but I just can't unsee them as something out of LoZ! Share this post Link to post
Posted May 24, 2016 Omg the adults are beautiful!! I think the Morphodrakes are probably my favorites, they are just so pretty!! But I love them all. I especially love the Nexus's description, I love the idea of a fire/ice dragon, and the mana crystals on the sprite look wonderful. Odeen, you really outdid yourself here. Thank you for the extra info on the Candelabras, PieMaster! And ohhhh, a note from a researcher about Frills, excellent! Now I just have to wait another day and 12 hours for mine to grow up. Dangit. Grow faster! I wish we had a hatchie incubate. Share this post Link to post
