We are expecting in a phase change tonight (09/29/15) at 8PM EST/DC:

 

Aurax (Gold Moon): Waning Gibbous No change. Aurax is expected to stay more than 50% illuminated!

Cirion (Blue Moon): Waning Gibbous --> Waning Crescent Cirion is expected to be less than 50% illuminated!

Eggs are expected to shift from silver to a new color!

Cave Lunar Herald Eggs are expected to be Gold.

Bred Lunar Herald Eggs need to be confirmed, but are expected to be Gold.

 

Please help us confirm this!

Aurax (Gold Moon): Waning Gibbous --> Waning Crescent Aurax is expected to become less than 50% illuminated!

Cirion (Blue Moon): Waning Crescent --> New Moon Cirion is expected to stay less than 50% illuminated, specifically 0% illuminated!

Eggs are expected to shift from Gold to a new color!

Cave Lunar Herald Eggs are expected to be Bronze.

This phase shift will confirm whether or not Aurax's Waning Gibbous phases lasts 7 days (which is what we currently predict.)

I think once we have this information, everything will be confirmed!

 

... I guess technically the period where Aurax is WaNing Crescent and Cirion is WaXing Crescent is unconfirmed because during that time in the release, the Time reference page was displaying the wrong thing for Cirion. However, we have both bronze cave and bred eggs from that time, and TJ provided a correctional chart with the appropriate phases for that time. So, we have enough information to accurately say what eggs are produced under the aforementioned phases.

 

Everything will soon be confirmed. Thank you everyone! I wonder if this thread will continue after we are done. I guess people could always come here to ask what egg will produced when...

I'm going to make another table of the official pattern of the eggs, but as for the calendar, it would be nice if we could have some automated image or posts that updates on what eggs are coming as soon as the phase change. Unfortunately, I don't know how to code that, so...tables and charts for now.

After talking with my (coder) daughter I think having an image that updated automatically in our sigs would require something coded from TJ, which I feel he's unlikely to do.

 

I may make images for my sig and update them by hand. I don't know though, that's a lot of bother. Mille's chart works so nicely...

it would be nice if we could have some automated image or posts that updates on what eggs are coming as soon as the phase change.

 

I think having an image that updated automatically in our sigs would require something coded from TJ, which I feel he's unlikely to do.

 

This is why i think just pinning the chart would be better. Also because I'd like to know days/weeks ahead of time what color they'll be, rather than just what's currently appearing. That way we can plan our lineage work to leave slots open on specific dates, rather than having to log on and check each day (which I know many players don't).

As long as we're confident of the way the moons change, we can do it without an API. Here's the logic in PHP:

Yes, that's exactly what I had in mind. Wonderful! If I can get over this stupid cold so I have some energy I'll try to work up some fancier images, though these work very nicely. You don't want them to be too complicated.

Just a heads-up, I adjusted the text-output script so you can pass a parameter:

That'll tell you what's dropping on the 31st of October 2015, 19:00 (= 7 PM) cave time.

And so on. The parameter's always interpreted as cave time. So if you want to know what'll drop on your birthday, you can now check. (My birthday next year will be dropping silvers all day in my timezone, apparently, which aligns with what Millie's calendar says.)

 

Please let me know if that ever gives you a known wrong answer. The script has not been rigorously tested. It could have any number of subtle bugs in it.

if Bronze is currently dropping, and so on?

Hmm, that does sound useful. I'll see if I can weasel that in sometime over the course of the day. (If it's not here by the end of the day, pester me again next week, it means I got sucked into writing. )

I am glad so many people are finding the calendar useful!

 

In regards to having it pinned, Ruby said TJ doesn't like a whole bunch of things pinned as it starts to clutter the forums after a while, so that probably isn't an option unless the mods can see the demand for it is high.

 

The DragCave Wikia page for Lunar Heralds has included with permission a link to the calendar, and I will try to keep a link in my signature. I could also create a button for people to put in their own signatures if that would be helpful?
