Pokémon: Distortion Games OOC

Howdy, folks. c:

Kiara Aukior, Talia Merek, and Katrina Mason have been accepted.

Own it do Pokemon talk? As in not the legendarily like the Pokemon team?

Pokémon don't speak like humans do. So, I don't think Skypool will allow for teams to speak to their trainers.

...but Manaphy's champion (Within this RP) could possibly do it.

Narvix and MrSpyro said it best. c:

Sorry for not posting my sheet sooner, Narvix and I have been collaborating between our tight schedules. If I see Narvix online again today, we'll probably post our sheets. If not, we can post them later tomorrow. They're almost done, just gotta tweak a few things and finish the history. Again, sorry for the wait, y'all!

Also, I'm gonna finish my characters today. I have a boy and girl, but I dunno how that plays into the ratios. I guess I could take another pokemon but I really just want two

If Backup, Sammy, and Lightdragon's forms are accepted, that would bring the M:F ratio to 8:6 and I would say (if it were my RP) that would be good enough, as there are usually more male characters anyways. However, it's still up to Skypool.

Yeah, 8:6 is definitely fine with me; I just hated that there was such an unbalance yesterday at, like, 7:2. (Doctortear, I believe Spyro is counting Sammy's male and female once they're submitted.)

Sammy, Narvix, and Doctortear, I know you guys have been working hard to get your sheets in, so would you like us to wait before we kick off? If so, we'll get started promptly after. If not, we'll go ahead and get going.

Oh, yeah, and here's this from the IC if you guys missed it:

Once we get a few more character sheets in—I would like for the M:F ratio to even out a bit if possible—our roleplay will start, and here is a bit of background info for how I think that it should.

Our characters will be contacted by their respective legendaries; each roleplayer can be as creative about this process as they would like. It could be as simple as the Pokémon communicating telepathically or as complex as the champion hearing voices coming from the campfire. The gist of what the legendary should say is a basic run through of the plot and a summons to meet at the fields beyond Fortree City, where all the champions will congregate for the first time.

There, alliances and plans will be formed; our champions can clash or bond for the first time, and then everyone can go their separate ways in the pursuit of whatever they feel is the best option.

Sound good?

Oh! Thanks for informing me, I was getting confused after looking around for the sixth sheet.

I'd appreciate it if you waited for me to post my sheet. I just have to wait for Narvix to finish the last of her history and we should be getting both of our histories in. It shouldn't inconvenience you too much I hope. smile.gif

Not at all. It's one in the morning where I'm from, so I highly doubt I could crank out something coherent anyways. laugh.gif

Our sheets are here! ^^

Name: Cathy Poniers

Age: 10 years

Legendary: Mewtwo

Appearance:

-> Before: Most notable is her too-pale skin and exhausted, maple eyes. Her shoulder-length hair falls in gentle, dark brown curls with bangs swept across her forehead. Her body is frail due to her sickly nature. Often times, bandages adorn her flesh in random places, easy to injure. Her appetite is not as consistent as it should be, leaving her rather underweight and bony. Cathy’s clothes drape around her tiny figure of 4’ tall almost like blankets. If she were healthier, she might have been taller. Surely, her heart-shaped face would have been fuller, her skin a bit darker, and her eyes brighter.

-> After: She retains her sickly body for the most part. However, her eyes become dark violet, her hair shortens to above her ears as it becomes a lighter shade of purple, and two bent horns sprout from her temples to protrude a few inches past the back of her skull. Cathy’s face elongates faintly in the front, giving her a hint of a muzzle. Her skin takes on a purplish tint while her pelvis widens at the hips and her legs bulk up at the thighs. Her tailbone lengthens and a dark violet tail sprouts from behind her, stretching about two feet in length and ending in a sort of bulb. While her arms remain frail looking, her hands become deformed as her fingers melt from five into three; sensitive bulbs make her fingertips. Similarly, her calves and ankles shift, causing her legs to be those of a digigrade.

Personality: First and foremost, she’s an all-round a**hole to everyone except her mother. She has a hatred for the world because of her failing health and has no desire to deal with anyone’s crap. Cathy makes a point to call people out when she knows they are trying to give her any crap. She despises lies, has spite towards those who take their health for granted, and generally has contempt for anyone living a better life than she. Doing what she can to avoid completely wallowing in self-pity, Cathy has taken to judging outsiders.

Deep down though, she’s a terrified little girl who doesn’t want to die. She wants to be normal, not hindered by her sickness. She’s determined to show how strong she is and absolutely hates it when someone calls her weak. She’s not afraid to speak up about what’s on her mind and she’s not afraid to make someone hear what she has to say. While she doesn’t throw fits or temper tantrums, she’s not beside herself to show juvenile behavior fit for her age.

Stress is certainly something she doesn’t fully know how to handle well, often breaking down into tears when she’s too frustrated to be angry. A lot of her frustration and outward hatred comes from self-loathing but only her mother really knows this. Only her mother knows how much she doesn’t want this illness and how gray she actually sees the world around her.

Beyond all of the anger and hatred, Cathy wants to be a happy child, to smile brightly more often. If not for her, then certainly for her mother. She wants to be the strongest possible and show that she’ll never lose so the being who gave birth to her and raised her won’t have to constantly worry. Though she tries to take changes and new situations in stride, she can’t help but balk and try to avoid it all instead.

History: At the age of six, Cathy was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL). Before being diagnosed (and even still afterwards), Cathy grew up surrounded by the Pokémon her mother bred and raised, making her home a constant source of activity. Learning consisted of the basic knowledge every toddler came to possess as well as her mother’s personal instruction about individual Pokémon, their types, and their strengths and weaknesses. When she was diagnosed, she didn’t understand what everything meant first. However, as the symptoms worsened and she got older, she began her own research about ALL to grasp what it was. Though, as time progressed and she came to know better, her formerly bubbly nature dissolved into what it is now.

As her personality became more hateful, Cathy’s mother worked with her and the frustration she felt. Branwen didn’t aim to dispel the negative, outward reactions that she had. Instead, her mother taught her to refine it and use it like a proper weapon, not as if it were a tantrum. As she improved in refining her anger, her mother had her work with the Pokémon they bred as well, putting her knowledge into practice and earning Branwen’s trust to take responsibility of three stronger Pokémon; Kirlia, Luxio, and Gabite. Finally, once Cathy turned ten, she filled her first team with three young Pokémon she hatched herself.

Abilities/Skills:

-> She has immensely strong telekinetic and psychic abilities, able to easily manipulate objects or beings without touching them. However, using these abilities greatly strains her body.

-> She’s very skilled at making paper crafts like Origami.

Other: Branwen’s daughter. Kirlia, Luxio, and Gabite were originally raised/trained by Branwen before being put in Cathy’s care.

Name: Branwen Poniers

Age: 34

Legendary: Kyurem

Appearance:

Before: Standing at around 5’8” (167cm), Branwen stands somewhat taller than the average height. They have a full hourglass build with a tall, slender body. They have dark brown skin that smoothly runs along their body with no blemishes in sight. They hold an air of elegance around them as though to suggest to a genteel lifestyle. Branwen’s visage holds sharp, but not overly so, features. Their high arching cheekbones give them the impression of an aristocrat. Thin eyebrows hang above their almond shaped light brown eyes. Their black hair is short, ending a little above their neck. Their bangs are swept to the right of the face while the rest of their lush hair is combed sleekly to the same side. They put on a light blush and glossy, deep scarlet lipstick along with a hint of brown eyeshadow. Branwen can pull off just about any sort of outfit as long as it isn’t overly baggy. They tend to favor more stern looking articles of clothing that they fastidiously pick and mull over. They wish to give off the impression of being proper and calculating, not prim and bubbly.

After: Their body stays the same for the most part. Their black hair turns a radiant silver with a large strip of striking blonde hair sticking out in the middle. The elongated pair of pointed light blue horns that Kyurem possesses protrude from their head. Their brown eyes turn into a piercing yellow with the absence of visible pupils. Although it is not part of their transformation, Branwen started to use black eyeliner around their eyes after they gained their new appearance. In addition, they also began to wear more silver and white clothing to match their new look.

Personality: Cold and calculating, Branwen is the type of person who isn’t to be trifled with. They are not a quiet person and will actively voice their opinion, whether people want to hear it or not. While they are willing to listen to what others have to say, they are quick to call out plans and ideas they consider moronic or poorly conceived. Branwen attempts to hold a respectful semblance no matter what circumstance they face. They are an adroit actor when it comes to hiding their true feelings. They always appear to speak in a pleasant manner with fluid motions. Branwen is quite flexible with their beliefs and will gladly change them if sufficient evidence is brought to question. They get easily frustrated when someone does not understand the message they are trying to convey although they don’t show it. They are usually stuck with cleaning up other people’s mess or doing all of the work themselves which has caused them to both gather a pessimistic view of the world and harbor an abhorrence for laziness.

Kindness is not foreign to Branwen, contrary to what some people might believe. They are completely capable of being cordial to others. They do show concern for other people’s well-being and care deeply about how people treat both others and themselves. They generally don’t pay too much attention to those who are amiable but instead keep a close eye on those who act inhumanely. They know a bomb when they see one and take care to steer clear of anyone blindly inimical. Branwen loves precious few things in the world, one such thing being their beloved daughter, Cathy. They have fretted over Cathy ever since she was little and only became increasingly protective after she became diagnosed with Leukemia. They are immensely proud of their daughter for far more than just fighting the disease. One of the best ways to get onto Branwen’s bad side is to pick on their daughter or throw a derogative term her way. They may not come to her immediate defense or even show any signs of anger, but they will very distinctly remember who said what at what time and just what they need to do in order to make sure whoever spoke out of term does not get away with their insult.

History: Born to a family of hardcore trainers in Sinnoh, Branwen was always expected to take a pokemon with them once they became ten years old and set off on a journey to become a “Pokemon Master”. As such, Branwen was quite familiar with Pokemon bred to battle and could easily recite what each type was strong and weak against when they were five. They grew up with Pokemon and learned the basics of battling at a very young age. When they finally became ten years old, they took their childhood Pokemon, a Shinx, with them and set off to make not only their family but themself proud. They were far more experienced than their peers and easily overtook children their age in Pokemon battles as well as teens and adults who were unprepared to face someone as knowledgeable as Branwen was. They slowly began to build their team, debating over typing combinations and running around looking for TMs to use on their beloved Pokemon. Branwen managed to beat the gym leaders of the Sinnoh but never felt compelled to tackle the Elite Four along with the Champion. They did not wish to take the title of Champion, but yet they felt compelled to battle more. With desire burning in their heart, Branwen sailed to Hoenn and began their journey anew.

It wasn’t until after Branwen got their fifth badge in Hoenn when they encountered a Pokemon breeder. The breeder’s trade intrigued Branwen who was of twenty-two years at the time. After some discussion with the breeder, a thought popped into Branwen’s head. What if they started their own breeding business but with Pokemon bred to battle? After all, their family only used Pokemon that had been bred specifically to fight. They halted their badge collecting and started a breeding business in Fortree City. They didn’t stop training their personal team, but they allowed the rest of their Pokemon to simply relax and enjoy their new home. Two years after Branwen settled down, they had Cathy. There was no other parent in question, not that Branwen would even want there to be, and Branwen made sure to keep anyone who would potentially harm Cathy away from her. Giving birth to Cathy was perhaps one of the most joyous moments in Branwen’s life, but such joy would should be shattered after their precious daughter was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL). They never showed any disgust towards their daughter and did nothing but be the best mother they could. Branwen made sure to teach their daughter the ropes of training, battling, and caring for Pokemon. Over the years, their business became more and more popular to the point of people traveling from other cities just to see Branwen’s selection. They took pride in their fame but always made sure to put family, especially in regards to Cathy and Branwen’s own Pokemon, before their career if need be.

Abilities/Skills:

- Just as Kyurem can, Branwen possess the ability to shift between Black/White Kyurem. When transformed, their appearance differs slightly and they gain a less powerful version of the abilities that Zekrom and Reshiram grant to their champions. When they are Black or White Kyurem, Branwen’s own powers are significantly lessened. While they don’t suffer any repercussions, minus their original powers being weakened, while transformed, they suffer a huge energy lose after transforming back and must rest before changing again.

- When changed to White Kyurem, Branwen can create intense flames but not to the point that they can change the atmosphere. Their left horn turns into the plump of fur Reshiram has. Their silver hair turns a glossy white, becoming wavy and reaching down to their waist. Their eyes regain their pupils and turn a vivid blue.

- When changed to Black Kyurem, Branwen can create electricity without the assistance of storms, but such electricity is not as devastatingly powerful as Zekrom’s. Their right horn turns into the short jagged horn Zekrom possess. Their silver hair turns jet black and spikes out, becoming stiff and rugged. Their eyes regain their pupils and become a glaring maroon.

- Branwen, just as Kyurem is, has a proficiency in regards to ice abilities. They can conduct their powers over ice much more efficiently than they can with water and air.

Other: Branwen is the mother of Cathy. All of their Pokemon, Cathy's included, have been bred specifically to battle and have been fighting since they were born.

The wait was well worth it; both of your sheets are so comprehensive, holy cow. Branwen and Cathy Poniers have been accepted.

(Oh, and the levels are fine, Doc. c:)

I believe I'm going to kick things off now, and hopefully, Sammy can get her sheets in sometime later today or tomorrow. Let's do this thing.

Quick question if I may, does the transformation into becoming a champion hurt and is the appearance change instantaneous after the light is gone? I just want to be sure I'm not messing anything up when posting my intro.

I think it might be unique for every person. If your character merely changes hair color, then the most they might feel is a tickling sensation around their head. If they grow new appendages, however, that might be a whole different story altogether. laugh.gif

The light bathes your character from head to toe and each part of the metamorphosis is done in a singular fashion, so there's a bit of a process to it, but probably not a long one.

Honestly, I could just succinctly say that you can whatever creative license you would like because each legendary/champion is different.

Uh...I will post an intro sometime today/ but did Spyro post an intro yet? Having bros and all, we need to work together

Quick question before I post: Is the world already going down, in terms of the weather and such? Or is this before the effects become too noticeable?

I thought Champions were being picked on the same day? How could Brandon be training for days then?

Unless I'm mistaken about the timeline?

okay I am very interested in reserving rayquaza, but the posts seem really long for a semi-lit, will they likely be getting shorter in the future cus I have difficulty processing all these long boxes of text... ;3;

Post length is really up to the discretion of the writer. Semi-lit is just the minimum. I try to make detailed/quality posts and I don't like it when I make anything less than a couple of paragraphs.

I don't want to discourage you from reserving a spot. Please don't take my words as such.

Huhh that makes sense... I've just never seen a semi with so many paragraphs haha. There's a lot of good writers here ;u;

definitely would like rayquaza, should have my sheet tonight, yes

I'm okay with the mewtwo music, but Branwen's theme is pretty terrible, so tell me if you'd like me to update it at any point in time.

Quick question before I post: Is the world already going down, in terms of the weather and such? Or is this before the effects become too noticeable?

It's pretty much as bad as it's going to get for the time being; the only deviations take place in freak storms and natural disasters that are the consequences of the legendary imbalances.

This is true. Purplepotatoes2, if you could revise your post, that would be great. Each character is given the instructions to go to the fields beyond Fortree on the same day, but the journey to Fortree itself is a separate plot entirely (one you can choose to write out or use a timeskip on).

I think we should reserve making that choice though until most people get their intro posts up!

Rayquaza has now been reserved for you. And seriously, no worries about post length. c: I only wrote so lengthily this time because it was the first time.

To clarify, does this mean that weather is so far the only abnormality? Or are infrastructures, electricity, and such, already fallen apart?

Yeah, they have, and for the most part, said incidents are related.

Tsunamis have wrecked coastal towns. Earthquakes have collapsed infrastructures. A lack of thriving greenery has lowered crop/herb production and thus made healthy eating a rarity and plant-based medicines a luxury. In summation, the absence of legendaries in their respective jurisdictions have caused many, if not all of the world's natural environments to suffer in some way, which have in turn affected human life.

I don't want to be the spoil-sport or anything but, Archios? It was established by Skypool that only the Legendaries can speak to the humans. Team Pokémon aren't able to... :|
