Pokémon: Distortion Games

Recommended Posts

' P R O L O G U E '

They materialize one by one, roaring and hissing, eyes gleaming with animalistic rage: Arceus, Xerneas, Lugia, Darkrai, Groudon, and on and on. They have been summoned to an island far off Hoenn's coast, one big enough to host the world's plethora of legendary Pokémon, but leagues away from human detection.

They're trapped, too. Flyers are inhibited by a pale, almost transparent forcefield, and the various dimensions and holes have been sealed to prevent teleportation.

Dialga senses that time had been ripped to accomplish this feat.

Palkia wonders why the spacial pockets around them feel so warped.

In the midst of all this, an odd looking creature with bulbous eyes—Hoopa, he's called—sniggers from atop his throne made of trees; he's orchestrated this little get together. The party belongs to him, and it has only begun.

Around their little island, the world begins to crumble in the imbalance of its protectors being trapped in Hoopa's game, of time and space having been disturbed to make it so. They can do nothing but watch it fall.

' P L O T '

The aftermath of Hoopa's trick is not a sight to behold in the wonderful world of Pokémon. Society, for a lack of better words, has turned apocalyptic.

Cults roam the street with the singular goal of furthering the epoch of chaos. Pokémon of the sinister variety terrify the hapless passerby. Landmasses have risen and fallen in time with the natural disasters (of which there have been very many without the weather legendaries), and tsunamis are daily occurrences now: five o'clock on the dot at the Dewford Town beach.

If something isn't done soon, it might be in order to say that the end times are coming.

Our heroes and heroines—we can't forget our anti-heroes as well—are young teenagers and adults with whom the legendaries connect with so much that they would like to champion them. In doing so, they imbue these humans with the power to potentially stop Hoopa, should they get close enough to the island to try.

Of course, however, this endeavor will have to be a group effort, and with such a wide array of personalities clashing together?

It might not happen any time soon.

' L E G E N D A R I E S '

The champion that a legendary chooses already possesses qualities that make the two akin to each other; after it chooses, however, only then is the champion imbued with powers and physiological additions that complete the certain aspect of "oneness" this process promotes.

Ex. A champion of Shaymin might go from having brown to green hair.

Below, is a list of the most prevalent power that each champion receives according to their legendary. (This is not to say that it is the singular power they are given; as the roleplayer, you can add nuance here and there!)

X = Reserved

X= Taken

A R C E U S - Arceus champions can utilize the powers of Dialga, Palkia, and Giratina combined but at a great price. Each usage of their abilities pulls them closer to insanity… or death. X

A R T I C U N O - Articuno champions can generate ice from the moisture around them and utilize it to their benefit.

A Z E L F - Azelf champions can give and take willpower, thus either empowering other humans or oppressing them by their own lack of determination. X

C E L E B I - Celebi champions are gifted with nature; they can nourish or weaponize it as they please. X

C O B A L I O N - Cobalion champions are intimidating fighters. Uniquely, they have a glare that can temporarily stun enemies.

C R E S S E L I A - Cresselia champions can dispel nightmares and imbue good dreams; they can also induce peaceful slumber.

D A R K R A I - Darkrai champions can lull people into a deep sleep and give them nightmares. X

D E O X Y S - Deoxys champions can mutate to mirror Deoxys's four forms. (Ex. Speed form boosts the champion's speed.)

D I A L G A - Dialgia champions can control time for short periods of times, short being the keyword. Long exertions can result in the champion's death.

D I A N C I E - Diancie champions can create diamonds out of the carbon in the air and utilize them for attack.

E N T E I - Entei champions can channel fire hotter than lava; they can also withstand outrageous temperatures. X

G I R A T I N A  - Giratina champions can transport themselves/others using venues other than time or space, such as shadow and reflection—antimatter. Overexertion of this ability can result in death.

G R O U D O N - Groudon champions have the ability to manipulate huge portions of land. In addition, they can evaporate water should it be used against them.

H E A T R A N - Heatran champions can heat their bodies to the temperature of magma (they have control over what temperature they stabilize at); a champion's touch can melt through steel.

H O - O H - Ho-Oh champions can resurrect the dead, but only under certain conditions. The deceased can't have been dead for more than five minutes, and a rainbow—natural or manufactured will do—must be present for the champion to draw on the legendary's power. X

J I R A C H I - In mirroring Jirachi's move Doom Desire, Jirachi champions can weaponize the light around them.

K E L D E O - Keldeo champions reach exceeding speeds when their feet are touching water.

K Y O G R E - Kyogre champions can manipulate water as voluminous as seas, and within seas, can create tidal waves and tsunamis at their will.

K Y U R E M  - Kyurem can generate freezing energies of any state of matter: air, water, and ice, respectively. X

L A N D O R U S - Landorus champions can simultaneously weaponize and nurture plant life.

L A T I A S - Latias champions are highly empathetic due to their psychic skills; they can sense the emotions/thoughts of others. X

L A T I O S - Latios champions can make their foes see illusions in order to incapacitate them. They are sensitive to human emotions as well, though not as adept as reading into them as Latias champions are.

L U G I A - Lugia champions have the power to create powerful winds that have the potential to become storms; this power is channeled through psychic energy, so they can utilize telekinesis/telepathy as well. X

M A N A P H Y - Manaphy champions have the power to bond with any kind of Pokémon.

M E L O E T T A - The songs of Meloetta champions have the power to influence the emotions of a human. X

M E S P R I T - Mesprit champions can manipulate emotions. X

M E W - Mew champions can turn invisible at will.

M E W T W O - Mewtwo champions are battle-oriented; they have been physically and mentally modified for wartime crisis and are exceptional within it. X

M O L T R E S - Moltres champions are pretty much fire benders.

P A L K I A - Palkia champions can transport themselves or other person/creatures/things anywhere in the world, including other dimensions and parallel universes. If the champion overuses their ability though, the result can be fatal. X

R A I K O U - Raikou champions can channel the lightning generated in storms; they're also, well, lightning fast. X

R A Y Q U A Z A - Rayquaza champions can fly as high as the ozone layer without any stress to their bodies; the winds are at their disposal. X

R E G I G I G A S - Regigigas champions can manipulate inanimate objects, such as rocks or clay, and imbue them with temporary life for utilization.

R E G I C E - Regice champions can negate fire/magma with the ice they generate, which is -328 degrees Fahrenheit.

R E G I R O C K - Regirock champions can manipulate rocks.

R E G I S T E E L - Registeel champions can harden their bodies to become impenetrable; in this, they become human shields.

R E S H I R A M - Reshiram can generate fire hot enough to change an entire atmosphere. X

S H A Y M I N - Shaymin champions can purify nature and help it flourish in an instant. X

S U I C U N E - Suicune champions can purify even the murkiest of waters. X

T E R R A K I O N - Terrakion champions have the strength to break through entire castle walls.

T H U N D U R U S - Thundurus champions have the power to weaponize lightning, but these expulsions are hard to control because of their raw strength. Champions such as these usually end up setting forest fires.

T O R N A D U S - Tornadus champions have the power to create severe storms; their specialty is tornadoes.

U X I E - Uxie champions are inherently knowledgeable and can retain impressive amounts of information.

V I C T I N I - Victini champions have a high proclivity for victory, and being around one promotes an aura of triumph. This euphoria can be helpful or dangerous depending on who it is being impressed upon.

V I R I Z I O N - Virizion champions are skilled fighters. Their main strength lies in their speed.

V O L C A N I O N - Volcanion champions can transform the water vapor around them into highly pressurized steam.

X E R N E A S - To a certain extent, Xerneas champions are "invincible." Due to their patron being the guardian of life, their tolerance for pain and injury exceeds the average.

Y V E L T A L - Yveltal champions can absorb and redirect the energy of various life forces. They cannot fully drain humans, however; the effort would be fatal. X

Z A P D O S - Zapdos champions can generate concentrated electrical currents. X

Z E K R O M - Zekrom champions can generate lightning without the help of storms. X

Z Y G A R D E - Zygarde champions can sense imbalances in the various ecosystems and are thus excellent alarms to disaster.

• Standard DC rules apply.

• Keep it PG-13.

• Semi-Lit

• Keep yo' Mary Sues and Gary Stus from becoming too much of a Mary Sue or a Gary Stu. Some of these legendaries are extremely powerful, and I understand if you would like to incorporate that into your character building, but there's a line between fact and perfection.

• Legendaries choose one champion per person, so grab 'em while they're available!

• Before asking a question, head on over to the OOC to check if it's already been asked. I'll be posting important reminders and updates there as well.

• Have as many characters as you would like.

• Enjoy. c:

OOC

• No champion can use their power(s) for an extended period of time; the attempt would be exhausting, and in extreme cases, fatal or permanently debilitating. A long exertion usually results in the champion being down for a few days.

• The roleplay takes place in the Hoenn region as this is where all of the legendary Pokémon have been summoned.

• Champions can communicate with their respective legendaries telepathically; said Pokés are generally voices of wisdom.

• The gym leaders and the Elite Four still occupy their positions as they want to remain diligent battlers in this time of crisis, so obtaining badges can be a side plot for some characters.

• Hoenn's geography is pretty much the same, just darker and, well, apocalyptic.

• The cults mentioned in the plot are akin to syndicates such as Team Rocket and Flare. The only difference is that the cults do their evil deeds in the name of Hoopa; these can fleshed out as we progress in the storyline. The most important cult, however, is Team Distortion, Hoopa's biggest and most deadly advocate. Though their goal is simplistic—to ensure that the mischievous, little bugger's reign continues as long as possible—their means to achieve that goal are effective to say the least. Many of its disciples are strong in the conviction that the state of the legendaries is more beneficial than it is destructive, and it's a well-conceived argument. Some people, expressly the elite, have benefited from this shift in the power balances.

This plot is really cool! I was wondering if I could reserve Latios? I'll try to have my sheet up by tomorrow c:

Thank you, and of course!

((Out of curiosity, can we have pokemon teams with movesets included in our sheets? If so, how many pokemon should there be max and around what levels?))

Yeah, totally. While our champions' actual Pokémon might be secondary to this particular plot, they still can play a vital role, so I would say game rules apply—six 'mons per team and levels can be dependent on your character's unique experience as a trainer. Rookies might have 20s and experts, 50s.

No prob. c: Reshiram is now reserved.

Adding my form here for linking purposes.

Name: Roxanne Myrick

Age: Seventeen. What do you mean this used to be sixteen? Pssh.

Legendary: Azelf

Appearance: [ B E F O R E ] Roxanne is tall and willowy, the type of girl you would expect to see in high-waisted shorts and hipster tank tops with a physique such as hers (she does indeed like those articles of clothing by the way). Her hair is a light, mousy brown, and she almost always keeps it tucked in a rushed plait to prevent her vision from being obscured; it can get somewhat wild uncombed. Her complexion is fair, but dappled with freckles—there's a supernova of them on her cheeks and nose. Even so, the average observer would note that she's rather pretty. [ A F T E R ] Azelf's influence causes her hair to become the blue of the Pokémon's head. Her eyes change from hazel to liquid gold, soft and pooling. In addition, a pale birthmark resembling the gem on Azelf's forehead has appeared near her hairline.

Personality: Despite her slight appearance, Roxanne has a formidable—no, commanding—personality. Her constant attention to propriety simultaneously demands respect and exudes a certain unstated elegance about her. "Perfectionism" could probably be her middle name. She's a natural leader and likes to inhabit this role, likes to orchestrate events to her desired outcome; Azelf had found kinship with this determination and chose her as a result. Sometimes, however, said determination is to Roxanne's detriment. She can get carried away with herself and allow the "details" to get in the way of the "big picture." The control freak part of her personality wants to micromanage every, single aspect of any situation, no matter how minute. Otherwise though and overall, she has a generous heart and an even more generous spirit.

Pokémon:

- Gardevoir (33)

- Growlithe (29)

- Servine (31)

- Scizor (30)

- Gliscor (31)

- Milotic (32)

History: Roxanne grew up in a loving home with loving parents in Slateport City; she was never wanting for anything and needs were always met in an excessive fashion. Spoiled, some people call her. The part of her personality with an increased sense of self-importance could be attributed to this sheltered upbringing.

Abilities/Skills:

• In addition to Azelf's main gift, Roxanne is highly attuned to telepathy and can commune with other people/creatures with her mind. Telekinesis, however? Not so much. She stinks at it.

• Since giving/taking willpower is more of a defensive ability, Roxanne can project temporary shields around herself and one or two others as well. This comes in handy when enemies target her.

Other:

• Roxanne, when irritated, expresses her discomfort with passive aggression. She can be quite petulant about it when she wants to.

• Her biggest insecurity lies in not being the leader or the great person people would like her to be.

• She has a gravelly voice with a pleasant, though formal lilt. In connection to this, Roxanne always speaks with propriety.

• Call her Roxie and you die a horrible, fiery death.

Here's my twerp

Name: StevenUniverse LOL Skarsgard

Age: 'bout 15

Legendary: RESHIRAM!

Appearance: BEFORE: His hair is rather neat, with little hanging bits of it in front of his ears and an obsidian colour. He is a practical twig, and wears round little glasses to help his gray-green eyes on his pale face. The only thing on his skin that is NOT pale is one freckle on his arm. He wears plain clothing and not much else significant.

AFTER: Not too much changes, but there are some notable differences. For one, his eyes go from a drab green to a stunning blue, and his eyesight is fixed to 20/20. Also, his hair goes from black to a snow white, and turns into a "classic anime boy" style. To add to that, there are two ear-like tufts towards the back, making things even more strange. His skin becomes a tad but more tan, and the tufts in front of his ears dissapear (still debating on that part). One more thing, his figure turns a bit more...feminine, causing some...making fun.

Personality: Oh boy, he's complicated. To put it in simple words, he is calm and generally wise, though does have the immaturity of a normal boy his age. Like Reshiram, he can be set off rather easily, and is very violent and merciless when he is. Off that topic, he generally only opens up to people when they approach him, and overrall can be an alright, though weird, person to be around.

Pokémon:

Bagon- lvl 20

Swampert- lvl 18

Tyrunt- lvl 16

Noibat- lvl 19

Volcanion- lvl 17

Umbreon- lvl 20

History: (Optional.) then it shall stay so

Abilities/Skills: hm....

-He can throw some dragon attacks =3

-He can throw fireballs, which may come more in handy when his energy is low but still needs to attack.

-I might add another laters

Other: can you see I am a major dragon fanatic? xd.png

And I have a major feeling that you do not get the reference up there

I also want Lugia for some reason. SoulSilver nostalgia sad.gif

ArchiosLukos:

Name: Nikola (D'arco) Volt

Age: 26

Gender: Male

Legendary: Darkrai

Appearance: (concepts, until I get my new tablet) swords because swords are cool

-eyes: violet (> blue-violet)

-hair: raven, medium, wavy (> jet black)

-skin: pale

-height: 6'3"

-weight: 158 lbs

-build: average

-overview: Nikola is a tall man, towering over most people in a crowd at 6'3". Before he became bound to Darkrai, he often wore his bluish black hair down, letting the short mane fall wherever it may. However, his connection with the legendary pokemon zapped his hair into a hue black as coal, and while it tamed some parts, his hair now has a tendency to fall at least partially into of his face. He is also known to sport facial hair, most often a regular mustache with a lower patch, or a light beard if he hasn't had the chance to shave. (and while not so much a change in appearance, his voice has become deeper and more rough)

His eyes, which were once dark violet, became saturated in color and over the course of a few days grew bluish in hue. No longer a murky purple, his eyes took on an incredibly intense nature because of their sheer brightness, which doesn't usually come into regular human appearance. On a closer inspection, it would also become apparent to anyone the pale webbing of color which criss-crosses through his irises.

He's always had a tenancy to wear dark clothing and ever since a rather brief foray into the world of pokemon contests as a young trainer, his style has taken on a theatrical nature. His style is modeled after those that can be seen in the Cameran Palace; the equivalent of Pokemon Medieval fashion. Clothed in deep velveteen purple and black with tattered cloaks and a rather distinct style, it's an iconic look even in the recent chaos of the world.

Nikola uses this to his advantage. Those who knew him before the 'rise' of Hoopa are easily able to recognize him and those who challenge him now, well, they aren't soon to forget him once he crushes them underfoot. All of his pokemon wear black pieces of cloth with his mark for this reason. Hopefully, it wards off any would-be thieves or at least warns them how badly they're about to be thrashed if they get too close.

Personality:

*Nikola works well with trainers who have a similar amount of experience and strength as him, but he otherwise commands absolute respect and subordinance from others and will only sometimes take their opinions into consideration. The age of a trainer or civilian also goes a long way in determining his regard for them, but he has been known to make exceptions.

*He has a flair for the dramatics. Besides his natural authority, or at least his natural like for authority, he can also be a ruthless person. Nikola puts little value on the lives of either human or pokemon aggressors and will go out of his way to injure, or maim anyone or anything that disrupts the peace where he's concerned. However, he doesn't like to kill, especially humans. Whereas wild pokemon attacks have become common and there is often little hope of rehabilitating them, he finds more sympathy for humans, especially when they're not affiliated with a gang. Otherwise, he is kind to civilians and seeks to aid them whenever he can.

*He has a strong love of dog pokemon and much like some trainers restrict themselves to water types, he refuses to use any pokemon other than dogs. (Fun Fact: He would have an Arcanine on his team if it weren't for his rival Lane, a fire-type trainer, who forbade him from raising growlithe if he even encountered one on his journey)

Lucario--- Raoul (66) ()

-Dark Pulse

-Aura Sphere

-Dragon Pulse

-Psychic

-Superpower

-Sucker Punch

-Psyco Cut

Houndoom-- Styx (53)

-Dark Pulse

-Flame Thrower

-Hidden Power (grass)

-Fire Blast

History:

*Because I'm too lazy to write it all out: what you need to know is that Nikola is a semi-renowned trainer in some battle circuits who worked his way up by fighting with his team of dog pokemon. He briefly went into contests when he first started, but quickly confined himself to training only for gym battles. He is known for wearing mostly blue and black attire, but he switched over to violet and black some time after Darkrai bonded with him. Nowadays those who have heard of him tend to hear his reputation as a sort of travelling vigilante type. He travels to small towns throughout the region, offers aid or passage between cities for the townspeople, and occasionally kicks the butts of anyone who thought it would be a good idea to harass the locals.

Abilities/Skills:

-Induce Nightmares: Ability to inflict nightmares on a sleeping person

-Lull into Sleep: Ability to inflict (a typically troubled) sleep on a creature

-Meld into Shadows: Ability to slip imperceptibly into a heavily shadowed area

-Nightmare Immunity: A natural immunity to unnaturally-induced nightmares

-Travel via Shadows: Ability to meld into and travel between the space of a shadowed area

Other:

Backup:

Name: Katrina Mason

Age: 17

Gender: Female

Legendary: Ho-oh

Appearance:

**Before: Katrina's dark brown hair is long, reaching down past her shoulders. It's usually kept tied back in various ways- clips, braids, a ponytail- whatever she feels like for the day. Her large eyes are a deep brown, and her olive skin has been tanned from constant exposure to sunlight. She has a slender build, and is a few inches taller than average. Preferring bright colors, she likes to wear sleeveless shirts and shorts.

**After: Ho-oh has caused her hair to turn a bright red, the color of their feathers. Katrina's eyes, meanwhile, can't seem to decide on what color they are. Depending on the lighting and angle that they're viewed at, they switch through the colors of the rainbow.

Personality: Katrina is very cheerful, and wishes to bring happiness to people. People whom she likes, anyway. She doesn't like anyone who is mean, rude, untrustworthy, etc., and she often refuses to even talk to them. Why would she waste her time with them, when they'd probably never change? Second chances aren't a thing that she gives out freely. However, she is intensely loyal to those whom she likes, and doesn't jump to conclusions. Once someone earns her trust, it takes a lot to break it. She is also very passionate and determined, and isn't likely to give up on saving her friends.

Pokémon:

-Houndoom (38)

-Vaporeon (35)

-Swellow (36)

-Ninetales (37)

-Leafeon (35)

-Cherrim (34)

History: --

Abilities/Skills:

-Kill it with Fire: She can create small amounts of fire. It's not very hot or suited for combat, but can help out in a pinch. With great effort she can create a larger fireball, but it would likely make her faint on the spot.

-Heal it with Fire: Katrina has become resistance to damage from fire. High temperatures will still burn her, but the flames of campfires will slowly heal her instead.

Other: She loves sunlight, and thus her pokemon team is based around using intense sunlight.

DarkOFSorts:

Name: Aryanna Hart

Age: 12

Gender: Female

Legendary: Shaymin

Appearance:

=Before= Aryanna has long, brown hair. She has a black top with a white flower on it, with worn, faded jeans. She also wore black vans. Aryanna has green eyes with big, black glasses.

=After= Her brown hair is now green, like Shaymin's land form. Her hair is a bit shorter now, and her eyes are now a lighter green. In Aryanna's hair, on the sides, are big, pink flowers. She also has yellow dots near the tips of her hair. She is wearing a white dress with a green ribbon at her waist. Aryanna is bare foot, wearing something that resembles socks on her legs and arms, but with nothing around the hands or feet.

(After)

Personality: Aryanna has a love for grass type Pokemon. She is a green thumb. Even though friendly, she is quite shy and doesn't trust a lot of people. Aryanna is smart and capable. . . of most things. Even though she seems care-free about her Pokemon, she worries about them.

Pokémon:

Leafeon - 27

Lilligant -23

Deerling - 14

Altaria - 32

History: Aryanna's parents lived in Mauville City. They had a very big apartment and on there balcony was a garden, flourishing with apricorns and berries. The patio was filled with plants because of their relatives, sending over the seeds.

Abilities/Skills: Aryanna can speed the growth of any plant life.

Once in a while, she can make trees such as trees bearing berries or apricorns bear bigger fruits.

Aryanna can bend plants around her. (i.e: using vines to whack a person, making tree branches bend over like a wall to block anyone from getting through, etc.)

Other:

Doctortear:

Name: Branwen Poniers

Age: 34

Gender: Female (Agender)

Legendary: Kyurem

Appearance:

**Before: Standing at around 5’8” (167cm), Branwen stands somewhat taller than the average height. They have a full hourglass build with a tall, slender body. They have dark brown skin that smoothly runs along their body with no blemishes in sight. They hold an air of elegance around them as though to suggest to a genteel lifestyle. Branwen’s visage holds sharp, but not overly so, features. Their high arching cheekbones give them the impression of an aristocrat. Thin eyebrows hang above their almond shaped chocolate eyes. Their black hair is short, ending a little above their neck. Their bangs are swept to the right of the face while the rest of their lush hair is combed sleekly to the same side. They put on a light blush and glossy, deep scarlet lipstick along with a hint of brown eyeshadow. Branwen can pull off just about any sort of outfit as long as it isn’t overly baggy. They tend to favor more stern looking articles of clothing that they fastidiously pick and mull over. They wish to give off the impression of being proper and calculating, not prim and bubbly.

**After: Their body stays the same for the most part. Their black hair turns a radiant silver with a large strip of striking blonde hair sticking out in the middle. The elongated pair of pointed light blue horns protrude from their head. Their brown eyes turn into a piercing yellow with the absence of visible pupils. Although it is not part of their transformation, Branwen started to use black eyeliner around their eyes after they gained their new appearance. In addition, they also began to wear more silver and white clothing to match their new look.

Personality: Cold and calculating, Branwen is the type of person who isn’t to be trifled with. They are not a quiet person and will actively voice their opinion, whether people want to hear it or not. While they are willing to listen to what others have to say, they are quick to call out plans and ideas they consider moronic or poorly conceived. Branwen attempts to hold a respectful semblance no matter what circumstance they face. They are an adroit actor when it comes to hiding their true feelings. They always appear to speak in a pleasant manner with fluid motions. Branwen is quite flexible with their beliefs and will gladly change them if sufficient evidence is brought to question. They get easily frustrated when someone does not understand the message they are trying to convey although they don’t show it. They are usually stuck with cleaning up other people’s mess or doing all of the work themselves which has caused them to both gather a pessimistic view of the world and harbor an abhorrence for laziness.

Kindness is not foreign to Branwen, contrary to what some people might believe. They are completely capable of being cordial to others. They do show concern for other people’s well-being and care deeply about how people treat both others and themselves. They generally don’t pay too much attention to those who are amiable but instead keep a close eye on those who act inhumanely. They know a bomb when they see one and take care to steer clear of anyone blindly inimical. Branwen loves precious few things in the world, one such thing being their beloved daughter, Cathy. They have fretted over Cathy ever since she was little and only became increasingly protective after she became diagnosed with Leukemia. They are immensely proud of their daughter for far more than just fighting the disease. One of the best ways to get onto Branwen’s bad side is to pick on their daughter or throw a derogative term her way. They may not come to her immediate defense or even show any signs of anger, but they will very distinctly remember who said what at what time and just what they need to do in order to make sure whoever spoke out of term does not get away with their insult.

History: Born to a family of hardcore trainers in Sinnoh, Branwen was always expected to take a pokemon with them once they became ten years old and set off on a journey to become a “Pokemon Master”. As such, Branwen was quite familiar with Pokemon bred to battle and could easily recite which each type was strong and weak against when they were five. They grew up with Pokemon and learned the basics of battling at a very young age. When they finally became ten years old, they took their childhood Pokemon, a Shinx, with them and set off to make not only their family but themself proud. They were far more experienced than their peers and easily overtook children their age in Pokemon battles as well as teens and adults who were unprepared to face someone as knowledgeable as Branwen was. They slowly began to build their team, debating over typing combinations and running around looking for TMs to use on their beloved Pokemon. Branwen managed to beat the gym leaders of the Sinnoh but never felt compelled to tackle the Elite Four along with the Champion. They did not wish to take the title of Champion, but yet they felt compelled to battle more. With desire burning in their heart, Branwen sailed to Hoenn and began their journey anew.

It wasn’t until after Branwen got their fifth badge when they encountered a Pokemon breeder. The breeder’s trade intrigued Branwen who was of twenty-two years at the time. After some discussion with the breeder, a thought popped into Branwen’s head. What if they started their own breeding business but with Pokemon bred to battle? After all, their family only used Pokemon that had been bred specifically to fight. They halted their badge collecting and started a breeding business in Fortree City. They didn’t stop training their personal team, but they allowed the rest of their Pokemon to simply relax and enjoy their new home. Two years after Branwen settled down, they had Cathy. There was no other parent in question, not that Branwen would even want there to be, and Branwen made sure to keep anyone who would potentially harm Cathy away from her. Giving birth to Cathy was perhaps one of the most joyous moments in Branwen’s life, but such joy would should be shattered after their precious daughter was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL). They never showed any disgust towards their daughter and did nothing but be the best mother they could. Branwen made sure to teach their daughter the ropes of training, battling, and caring for Pokemon. Over the years, their business became more and more popular to the point of people traveling from other cities just to see Branwen’s selection. They took pride in their fame but always made sure to put family, especially in regards to Cathy and Branwen’s own Pokemon, before their career if need be.

Abilities/Skills:

- Just as Kyurem can, Branwen possess the ability to shift between Black/White Kyurem. When transformed, their appearance differs slightly and they gain a less powerful version of the abilities that Zekrom and Reshiram grant to their champions. When they are Black or White Kyurem, Branwen’s own powers are significantly lessened. While they don’t suffer any repercussions, minus their original powers being weakened, while transformed, they suffer a huge energy lose after transforming back and must rest before changing again.

- When changed to White Kyurem, Branwen can create intense flames but not to the point that they can change the atmosphere. Their left horn turns into the plump of fur Reshiram has. Their silver hair turns a glossy white, becoming wavy and reaching down to their mid-back. Their eyes regain their pupils and turn a vivid blue.

- When changed to Black Kyurem, Branwen can create electricity without the assistance of storms, but such electricity is not as devastatingly powerful as Zekrom’s. Their right horn turns into the short jagged horn Zekrom possess. Their silver hair turns jet black and spikes out, becoming stiff and rugged. Their eyes regain their pupils and become a glaring maroon.

- Branwen, just as Kyurem is, has a proficiency in regards to ice abilities. They can conduct their powers over ice much more efficiently than they can with water and air.

Other: Branwen is the mother of Cathy. All of their Pokemon, Cathy's included, have been bred specifically to battle and have been fighting since they were born.

Esko:

Name: Steven Skarsgard

Age: 'bout 15

Gender: Male

Legendary: RESHIRAM

Appearance:

**BEFORE: His hair is rather neat, with little hanging bits of it in front of his ears and an obsidian colour. He is a practical twig, and wears round little glasses to help his gray-green eyes on his pale face. The only thing on his skin that is NOT pale is one freckle on his arm. He wears plain clothing and not much else significant.

**AFTER: Not too much changes, but there are some notable differences.

Name: Lillia Rosen

Age: 16

Gender: Female

Legendary: Lugia

Appearance:

**BEFORE: She has lengthy red hair, which she keeps in a messy ponytail. Her eyes are a hazel-green color. Her skin is rather tan, with the occasional freckle. She is of average height, with nothing spectacular.

**AFTER: Now things get interesting. For one thing, her long hair is cut anime-boy style, and turns completely white. Her drab eye colour turns a deep violet-blue, and her skin becomes paler. Her build becomes much more masculine, as well as becoming taller. The most notable thing? Two deep blue...things poking out of her hair.

Personality: She is like the ocean before and during a storm; calm at first, but when you mess with her, she snaps and becomes a violent hurricane. Keep from pissing her off, and you have a great ally. Her violent side is preferably avoidable, since after her powers were gained, her temperamental outbursts became...eh, pretty bad.

Hasno:

Name: Miteki Kurasuma

Age: 16

Gender: Male

Legendary: Entei

Appearance:

**Before: He had short spiky black hair and dark-brownish eyes. He is a little taller than most 16 year olds. He is of average build, maybe slightly on the scrawny side. He has a variety of grins, such as the That-was-really-stupid or the Oh-Sorry grin, or, of course, the Takaki-you're-being-awkward grin.

**After: Well, not to much of a change. Well, he's got red spiky hair now. He also looks a little less scrawny. He still has those grins though.

Personality: He has this kind of 'cool' attitude- he's pretty laid back, people who converse with him will probably find him quite friendly yet almost- childish. He has this way of teasing his friend Takaki, and an outsider might think that of as annoying, but, really, Takaki doesn't exactly mind. He is very protective of his best friend, Takaki is like his little brother, and anyone else who end up being friends with him. Also a major genius. Like legit.

Abilities/Skills: The Entei stuff:

Fireballz duh

Can surround himself in fire, because vaporising objects instantly is a cool thing now. SHe can spread that fire to his surroundings so if he really wanted to he could set an entire forest on fire. If he tried hard enough. Also, he can cause magma/lava to burst from the ground. Also immense heat resistance, I guess. Might get more stuff later on, if I get the inspiration to invent one.

Other: He has a katana. I don't care he must have a katana.

Name: Takaki Sakiyama

Age: 15

Gender: Male

Legendary: Zapdos

Appearance:

**Before: He kind of looked like the kind of person you could easily beat up in a fight. He had brown eyes and short neatly cropped brown hair. He is of average height and a little on the scrawny side.

**After: He looks pretty much the same, no weird hair colour changes or anything, just a little taller and tougher. Also his hair seems to be a little messier.

Personality: He's a very shy and quiet person in general. If someone suddenly comes up to him and starts talking to him, the likely response will be a tiny 'Hi'. He tries his best to make people think that he's a nice and friendly person, but sometimes during a thread of talk it falls into awkwardness and dies. The only person who he can talk comfortably with (and therefore insult) is Miteki. Similarly to Miteki, he is very, very protective of his best friend and any others he makes. So far that's only one though. His mood can change very quickly, from a friendly, happy albeit awkward guy to a total demon, should you be foolish enough to piss him off.

Pokémon:

History: Shall stay optional

Abilities/Skills: He can of course, issue a bolt of electricity at someone/something. He can create an electric current that can go from temporarily stunning someone to overloading their nerves with an electrical current to the point of death. Of course, that drains his energy. He also can use his generated electric current to speed up his reflex time and speed. That also drains his energy.

Other:

LightDragon:

Name: Kiara Aukior

Age: 18

Gender: Female

Legendary: Raikou

Appearance:

**Before: Kiara consistently kept her onyx black hair cut short out of her green colored eyes, and regularly did her best to keep it from looking messy. She has the fit, tan, and slender build of a runner since it is her sport of choice.

**After: Raikou didn't change much in the sense of her physical build though he did strengthen her leg muscles allowing for longer runs and higher jumps. Kiara's hair and eye color on the other hand was altered greatly, much to her dismay. Only the front half of her once sleek black hair remained forming a kind of plate like shape above her red hued irsis. The other half turned snow white curling over her ears to end in light blue tips. Though the Pokemon did give her a long purple colored extension to the back of her hair she rebelliously cuts it off every time it grows out.

Personality: Though she lacks the personality of a leader, and is perfectly fine with taking orders, her intimidating presence can always be felt in group decisions. Fiercely loyal to the champions of both Raikou's siblings and Ho-oh, she will never turn tail when defending them out of respect for the Thunder Pokemon. Kiara enjoys the feeling of euphoria she gets from being able to run at high speeds. She is never one to turn down a good competition, but on the other hand is not one to keep the game completely clean as it makes things more interesting.

Element of Lightning: When it is thunderstorming her Taser ability becomes much more powerful but at the cost of a fair amount of her energy. Her speed is also greatly increased.

Strength of Raikou: She can jump higher and run faster than normal humans, and is able to keep up with even the quickest flying Pokemon

Other:

Name: Talia Merek

Age: 16

Gender: Female

Legendary: Latias

Appearance:

**Before: Talia's blue eyes constantly seemed to be hidden behind her long dirty blonde hair which she tried to keep off her face. She always wore a smile on her younger looking pale face.

**After: After Latias chose Talia her long blonde hair turned snow white and stopped at the top of her shoulders. Two tuffs of hair grew just behind her hairline line, the once blue tint of her eyes became golden, and an upside down red triangle appeared on her forehead. Talia's basic clothing though it can be changed at will. ((Sorry for the scroll the image link wouldn't work...))

Personality: Talia was driven by the need to help people almost to a fault some might say. Even before she gained her powers she was good at sensing what people needed, not perfectly but pretty accurate most of the time. She tries to stay away from fighting and will not step in to stop one should it occur.

MrSpyro

Name: Luke Skarsgard

Age:

Gender: Male

Legendary: Zekrom

Appearance:

**Before- Luke's hair is dirty blonde and a bit of a mess, and gets wavy when it's too long. He's rather skinny, like Steven, but isn't as pale as his brother. He has grayish-green eyes, but some weird optical illusion caused by his other features make them look almost like emeralds. He likes bright clothes, and usually wears unnecessary accessories (baseball caps, scarves, goggles, etc.) for the sake of looking cool and anime-esque.

**After- Upon becoming half-god-dragon, Luke's eyes become cherry red, and his hair turns pitch-black, with two nubby black horns with cyan tips coming out of it. His figure also gains a bit more muscle and a more masculine build.

Personality: Luke is smart, funny, and a bit stuck up. He is easy to get along with, and very self-assured. He is capable of analyzing situations and is a very good tactical thinker, something that Zekrom, as the spirit of Yin, values in a champion. He also likes to travel, and has plenty of books on the six regions, and when he goes on a vacation, he usually makes a point to catch and bring back one or two Pokemon.

Narvix:

Name: Cathy Poniers

Age: 10 years

Gender: Female

Legendary: Mewtwo

Appearance:

-> Before: Most notable is her too-pale skin and exhausted, maple eyes. Her shoulder-length hair falls in gentle, dark brown curls with bangs swept across her forehead. Her body is frail due to her sickly nature. Often times, bandages adorn her flesh in random places, easy to injure. Her appetite is not as consistent as it should be, leaving her rather underweight and bony. Cathy’s clothes drape around her tiny figure of 4’ tall almost like blankets. If she were healthier, she might have been taller. Surely, her heart-shaped face would have been fuller, her skin a bit darker, and her eyes brighter.

-> After: She retains her sickly body for the most part. However, her eyes become dark violet, her hair shortens to above her ears as it becomes a lighter shade of purple, and two bent horns sprout from her temples to protrude a few inches past the back of her skull. Cathy’s face elongates faintly in the front, giving her a hint of a muzzle. Her skin takes on a purplish tint while her pelvis widens at the hips and her legs bulk up at the thighs. Her tailbone lengthens and a dark violet tail sprouts from behind her, stretching about two feet in length and ending in a sort of bulb. While her arms remain frail looking, her hands become deformed as her fingers melt from five into three; sensitive bulbs make her fingertips. Similarly, her calves and ankles shift, causing her legs to be those of a digigrade.

Personality: First and foremost, she’s an all-round a**hole to everyone except her mother. She has a hatred for the world because of her failing health and has no desire to deal with anyone’s crap. Cathy makes a point to call people out when she knows they are trying to give her any crap. She despises lies, has spite towards those who take their health for granted, and generally has contempt for anyone living a better life than she. Doing what she can to avoid completely wallowing in self-pity, Cathy has taken to judging outsiders.

Deep down though, she’s a terrified little girl who doesn’t want to die. She wants to be normal, not hindered by her sickness. She’s determined to show how strong she is and absolutely hates it when someone calls her weak. She’s not afraid to speak up about what’s on her mind and she’s not afraid to make someone hear what she has to say. While she doesn’t throw fits or temper tantrums, she’s not beside herself to show juvenile behavior fit for her age.

Stress is certainly something she doesn’t fully know how to handle well, often breaking down into tears when she’s too frustrated to be angry. A lot of her frustration and outward hatred comes from self-loathing but only her mother really knows this. Only her mother knows how much she doesn’t want this illness and how gray she actually sees the world around her.

Beyond all of the anger and hatred, Cathy wants to be a happy child, to smile brightly more often. If not for her, then certainly for her mother. She wants to be the strongest possible and show that she’ll never lose so the being who gave birth to her and raised her won’t have to constantly worry. Though she tries to take changes and new situations in stride, she can’t help but balk and try to avoid it all instead.

History: At the age of six, Cathy was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL). Before being diagnosed (and even still afterwards), Cathy grew up surrounded by the Pokémon her mother bred and raised, making her home a constant source of activity. Learning consisted of the basic knowledge every toddler came to possess as well as her mother’s personal instruction about individual Pokémon, their types, and their strengths and weaknesses. When she was diagnosed, she didn’t understand what everything meant first. However, as the symptoms worsened and she got older, she began her own research about ALL to grasp what it was. Though, as time progressed and she came to know better, her formerly bubbly nature dissolved into what it is now.

As her personality became more hateful, Cathy’s mother worked with her and the frustration she felt. Branwen didn’t aim to dispel the negative, outward reactions that she had. Instead, her mother taught her to refine it and use it like a proper weapon, not as if it were a tantrum. As she improved in refining her anger, her mother had her work with the Pokémon they bred as well, putting her knowledge into practice and earning Branwen’s trust to take responsibility of three stronger Pokémon; Kirlia, Luxio, and Gabite. Finally, once Cathy turned ten, she filled her first team with three young Pokémon she hatched herself.

Abilities/Skills:

-> She has immensely strong telekinetic and psychic abilities, able to easily manipulate objects or beings without touching them. However, using these abilities greatly strains her body.

-> She’s very skilled at making paper crafts like Origami.

Other: Branwen’s daughter. Kirlia, Luxio, and Gabite were originally raised/trained by Branwen before being put in Cathy’s care.

Potatoes:

Name: Brandon

Age: 16

Gender: Male

Legendary: Palkia

Appearance:

**Before- Average height, short brownish hair, blue/green eyes, with a nimble build

**After- Relatively the same, only difference being slightly longer black hair, as well as some hardly visible purple lines on the skin (wears a black hoodie to cover them, but they are quite obvious on the hands)

Pokémon:

-Mega Sceptile (Blade) Lvl. 58

-Infernape (Flare) Lvl. 55

-Weavile (Sly) Lvl. 52

-Shiny Kingdra (Fury) Lvl. 51

-Gallade (Rook) Lvl. 51

History: Born and raised in Sinnoh, Brandon was a powerful trainer from the start, and never lost a battle. That is until he met Cynthia. Cynthia, being the champion, and one of the strongest trainers in the world, was way to much for Brandon, and was the reason for Brandon's loss in the Sinnoh league. Aspiring to be a champion, Brandon travelled to Hoenn, where he toppled the gyms with little effort, and had a battle for the ages against Wallace, where he came out victorious. While in Hoenn, he also learned of mega evolution and his strong bond with Blade allowed him to achieve it.

Personality: Introverted, preferring to go alone or with maybe one or two friends, prioritizes care for his pokémon and becoming the strongest. A strong strategist and gentle person overall.

Abilities:

*Some spacial control

*Sword Training

Other:

Skypool:

Name: Roxanne Myrick

Age: Sixteen

Gender: Female

Legendary: Azelf

Appearance:

**[ B E F O R E ] Roxanne is tall and willowy, the type of girl you would expect to see in high-waisted shorts and hipster tank tops with a physique such as hers (she does indeed like those articles of clothing by the way).

**[ A F T E R ] Azelf's influence causes her hair to become the blue of the Pokémon's head.

**After: Generally the same but he grows a mini-version of the thing Arceus has on it's abdomen on his abdomen. He grows somewhat taller with small fleshy horns.

Personality: He is trusting, somewhat like Arceus but not so naive. He is hot-headed and has a short temper. He is great at commanding his pokemon however.

Name: Frey Cole

Age: 20

Legendary: Rayquaza

Appearance:

**Before - Frey has angular features and dark olive skin that is covered in dark freckles and moles. His platinum blonde hair is kept short and messy. He has narrow dark brown eyes and sharp brows that cause his expression to appear constantly tired or irritated. He has some stubble on his jaw, which makes him look slightly older than he actually is. His build is thin and lanky, standing at 5'9". Frey has multiple sets of the same clothing, and is usually seen wearing a black dress shirt with white pants and brown boots.

**After - Frey's hair grew to chin length and became an emerald green color, with a yellow streak near his scalp. It is messy, somewhat spiky, and flips out at the ends. Most notably, two sharp tufts of hair formed at the top of his head that vaguely resemble the horns of a Rayquaza. His eyes became bright gold, and he grew slightly in height to 6'1". Alongside this, the tips of his ears became pointed and his canine teeth became longer and sharper.

Personality: Frey is generally very withdrawn and can be aloof or high-strung at times. He is somewhat prone to mood swings and has a frequently melancholy manner. He emits an intimidating aura due to his appearance, but is genuinely afraid of people he does not know well and is very uncomfortable with socializing. Despite this, he does desire companionship. Frey has no real interest in battles or contests. His team is instead composed of "service Pokémon" that help him cope on his own.

Okay, if SULD has Entei, I MUST have something related. Reserve me Lugia as well please =3

Okay, I know Ho-Oh is more related, but same generation pooh

Reserved. c:

Well, since Entei has been taken whilst I was away, I'd like to reserve Darkrai until I can get my sheet in.

I'm sorry that you didn't get your first choice, but Darkrai is yours as sure as the shirt on my back!

Mhm, roleplayers will get to control their specific legendaries to create a relationship between the champion and the Pokémon, and no problem.

Awesome. c: Just get it in whenever you can.

If a legend's champion dies, would they be able to pick another one immediately?

Short answer: yes.

Long answer: I haven't really cemented the logistics of it, but from what I can speculate, the legendaries use their "special powers" to search for a person with a similar aura. This is the person they make their champion, but in the case of death, can repeat the process.

Also, we have an OOC now, guys!

May I reserve the great Arceus.

Of course.

Once we get a few more character sheets in—I would like for the M:F ratio to even out a bit if possible—our roleplay will start, and here is a bit of background info for how I think that it should.

Our characters will be contacted by their respective legendaries; each roleplayer can be as creative about this process as they would like. It could be as simple as the Pokémon communicating telepathically or as complex as the champion hearing voices coming from the campfire. The gist of what the legendary should say is a basic run through of the plot and a summons to meet at the fields beyond Fortree City, where all the champions will congregate for the first time.

There, alliances and plans will be formed; our champions can clash or bond for the first time, and then everyone can go their separate ways in the pursuit of whatever they feel is the best option.

Sound good?

Yuuuup

Though it would be kind of cliché to have Steven and whomever his sib ends up being leave each other once they get there, because like, we need something different

There were snatches of fading sunlight and blurs of dark forest; the ground raced beneath her feet as she tried to chase the… creature? Yes, creature. It was a creature—a Pokémon, perhaps, and it was blue. It wove in and out of her eyesight, fluidly twisting through the trees as though trying to outmaneuver a predator, as though trying to escape but desperately failing because it would have to stop eventually. It would need to catch its breath. Nothing can run forever.

The shadows of them, the tall, forbidding trees, pursued the Pokémon laughing.

"Snap out of it," Roxanne muttered to herself. She swiped a hand across the back of her neck. It was still damp with sweat. She had woken with a panicked jolt only moments before. "It was just a dream."

A rather vivid one at that.

She sat on the edge of the hotel bed, her bare toes skimming the carpet underneath, images from the restless night still seizing across her mind's eye. Chasing after the Pokémon. Watching as it was inevitably cornered. Seeing the fear in its eyes replaced by something steely and resolute. Then nothing. Then blackness. It was haunting her. She scrubbed the back of her neck again.

"Just a dream," she repeated uneasily.

At some point in the narrative, she had been sure that the creature had looked straight at her.

Just a dream, Roxanne.

You have more important things to concern yourself with today, like, not getting brutally murdered by a gang member, for instance.

"Hello."

What in the—?

She jumped, legs instinctively splaying into a defensive stance. No one was there, she surmised doubtfully. Her room was as empty as ever. Her Poké Balls, which were laying on the nightstand, remained dormant as well. Even so, there had been a voice—she was sure of it, would bet every cent she had on it. It hadn't been her own either, had belonged to someone with a deep cadence and a warmth to match.

"It appears that I've scared you." There it was again, vaguely amused now. Better prepared for it than before, Roxanne gathered that it was in her head; someone (or something) was communicating with her telepathically. Her muscles unclenched a little, but the stiffness of her posture remained; this was unfamiliar territory for her—not knowing the outcome of a situation, not being in charge of something in the near vicinity of her control. Her fingers pulled themselves to the back of her neck.

"Who are you?" she asked warily.

The reply came quickly and proudly. "You would know me as Azelf."

And then it hit her. The blue Pokémon from last night. It had been Azelf, hadn't it? She recalled reading something on the legend only a little while ago—it was one of the ones that had mysteriously disappeared some six months ago.

She had watched Azelf fly for its life last night.

"Are you injured?"

For the first time in their conversation, there was a pause. Azelf seemed to be thinking. "Your dream is unrelated to my current state. I am unharmed."

"But are you okay?" Because being unharmed and okay are not the same things, and even if her dream was a coincidence, Roxanne was hardly inclined to believe that all of the world's most mythical Pokémon could vanish as they did without any foul play involved. Life had changed for all as a result, and not in a particularly good way.

"I'll tell you if you agree to become my champion." It was a dual statement, both a dare and plea; there was a note of silent desperation tacked onto the end.

It was the one thing that allowed her to ignore every nerve in her body screaming for her to refuse.

"Yes," she said aloud.

A blue light began to envelop her body.

Perhaps she should have thought this through.

Exhaustion was all she felt. It was usually all she felt if she wasn't angry.

Her room was dark, silent as she tossed in her bed, trying to get more sleep. Frustration wormed its ways through her mind and she groaned in complaint, yanking her blue and green blankets over her head.

Maybe she squinted her eyes shut too hard. Or maybe she was already back in the throws of sleep. Whichever it was, she thought she saw some sort of shadowy face flicker beneath her eyelids. Either way, Cathy's eyes shot open as she gasped, startled. After a few heartbeats, she closed her eyes again, brushing it away as imagination as she rolled onto her side again.

Seconds ticked by, the tick-tock of her analog clock counting their passage. Seconds melted into minutes as her breathing slowed again and sleep gratefully grasped her once more.

A heartbeat thumped in her ears. A shadowed face flickered behind her eyelids, lingering longer this time. A wash of hatred and uncontrolled strength slammed into her chest. Child!

Cathy sat up with a gasp, clasping her hands to her throat as she coughed. Bent over, she shuddered and closed her eyes against the echo in her head. But the voice never left. You will be my Champion! What?

Scurrying out of bed, she stumbled and leaned back to support herself against it, her room spinning. Once Cathy's vision adjusted, she started for her bedroom door, wanting to leave her room as if she could leave that voice behind.

However, before she could, her feet became rooted to the carpeted floor as a purple-tinted light engulfed her. Cathy gasped once more, eyes wide with panic. Ripples of pain rushed through her body, emanating from her skull, hands, hips, and tailbone. A sob escaped her throat as she felt every ounce of... something. She couldn't describe it, couldn't place a label on what was happening.

But it hurt so much.

To her horror, she saw her fingers melt together, three digits replacing five human fingers with bulbs at the tips. The back of her pajama pants tore, the sound diverting her attention.

Finally, the light faded and her feet moved awkwardly, making her fall until she caught herself. She darted for the hallway bathroom, slamming the door shut behind her and looking into the mirror.

A shrill scream escaped her lungs, filling the bathroom.

Bent horns had sprouted from her temples. Her sickly pale skin had taken on a faint, purplish hue. Her mouth and nose protruded forward just a bit more. In reflex, she brought her hands to her face, trembling as she felt her mouth and the horns poking out of her now purple hair.

She no longer screamed but, now, she cried horrified sobs. Her dark purple eyes diverted downward and at last noticed the change in her legs, a thick tail curled between them. Screaming again, she fell backwards, hitting her head against the wall, and scrambled towards the tub.

As she curled into a tight ball, crying in the corner of the bathtub, that voice returned. You are my champion. Your hatred and frustration give you strength. Use it!

This all had to be a hallucination. There was no other way to explain what was happening to her. Cathy couldn't reason for anything else except having gone insane.

(Sorry for dropping a wall of text, I'll hopefully make shorter posts in the future.)

Inside a cavern encompassed with ice walked a lone figure, their arms clasped against their sides. The surface of the cave was completely composed of sleek, glistening ice. The surface was not slippery but firm, ensuring that the figure could walk across it with ease. The cave itself was an irregular circular shape with various stalactites and decorating its top and bottom. Darkness filled the area behind the figure, but in front of them was an eerie light. A veil of illusive milky white mist curled its way out from the light. It's shapeless form coiled around the icicle protrusions on the floor, wrapping itself along the objects. It freely moved about, gilding around the cave and licking whatever it touched. The air was cold and a bitter breeze blew through the cavern. The figure, though they felt the sting of cold, did not seem affected. To them, the cold felt somewhat dreamy; they could feel shivers go down their spin as the frigid temperature dug underneath their skin, but they did not feel compelled to try to warm themselves. They were in an odd state of feeling cold but yet not desiring to keep themselves warm. The icy grip of the air gripped them with stiff fingers, and yet they did not care.

The figure continued to walk, their gaze darting around every so often to take in the majesty of the cavern. The cave was rugged with imperfections littering its every corner, but yet, it remained beautiful in its own respect. The light ahead began to grow brighter and the figure turned their attention towards it, shielding their eyes from the intensity of the light. They stepped into the glowing mirage and closed their eyes in the presence of the sheer light. They blinked and the light was gone. They found themself in a change dome-like room. The mist had dispersed and there was no other tunnel in sight. The only thing within the room besides the figure was a great, hulking, gray mass. The figure stared for a moment, pursing their lips as they pondered the situation. They took a few cautious steps forward, eyebrows raised as they closely examined the strange object. The closer they got to it the colder they felt. They opened their mouth as though to say to something, but they were cut off by the grey mass's movement. They stopped in their tracks, brown eyes locked upon the creature moving before them. It reared up its head, displaying it's bipedal form before the figure. It swung its draconic head around and turned it's gaze towards the figure. Its eyes were a striking yellow with the lack of pupils being it's more prominent feature. The ethereal mist that lingered in the tunnel behind the figure began to sprawl out of the creature's agape mouth. The figure stood and stared, familiarity flickering in their mind. They knew this creature, perhaps not personally, but they were aware of what it was. The beast's name laid at the tip of their tongue, but it was only when they lifted their chin, a look of defiance glinting in their eyes, did they remember it.

"Kyurem," they hissed, dauntlessly meeting the legendary's golden gaze.

----

Sunlight streaked into Branwen's bedroom, shining upon the covers over their face. They cringed at the light, grumbling under their breath as the flipped over on the side in an attempt to hide their face from the light. Unfortunately, as soon as they turned over they were met with a face full of blue and black purring fur.

"Luxray," Branwen mumbled, pushing themself away from their affectionate feline. "You know you're not supposed to be this far up on the bed. Your place is at the foot of the bed or the floor." Luxray turned her head towards Branwen with an innocent look. "Don't jest with me," Branwen chided, pushed away a playful paw before propping herself up on the side of the bed. They ran their fingers through their hand as they fixated their eyes onto the floor. They could feel sweat dampening their forehead and their heart beating at a rhythmical pace. The dream that they just had was far too peculiar for their liking. What could have possibly made them conjure a dream about walking in an ice cavern to meet face to meet with Kyurem? Branwen hadn't even been to Unova before! What could have possibly ignited their mind to come up with such a bizarre scenario?

"Your mind does not deceive you, human." Branwen froze as a voice spoke in their mind. It was a low gravelly voice, but modulated at the same time. They did not recognize the strange voice much to their dismay. Branwen stood up, taking a second to brush down their nightgown before marching up to the window, pressing their palms firmly against the table next to it as they stared outside. Luxray, seemingly glad that she had more of the bed to herself, began to roll around the sheets, flickering her ears as she settled down onto the bed.

"Do not think of me as an illusion, I am not fabrication of your own design." Branwen bite their lip as the voice filled their mind again. Was they going crazy or something? There was no way they could be hearing some disembowel voice in their head. Branwen's hands balled up into fists as their heart began to race.

"Is that so,?" Branwen countered, feeling slightly foolish for having a conversation in their head. "Then who are you?"

"Forgotten me already, have you?" the voice inquired with a hint of amusement. "I am the empty shell awaiting to be filled with truth and ideals." It took a moment for Branwen to process what the voice had said.

"Kyurem?" Branwen asked, startled by the realization. "Never would have I imagined that you would be the dramatic type." Kyurem chuckled, making a deep earthly sound than rang through Branwen's head.

"We are alike in that aspect, are we not?" Kyurem stated as its chuckle finally died down. Branwen's pursed their lips as they tapped their fingers along the table. Somehow being compared to a giant ice dragon wasn't the most appealing idea in the world.

"What has brought the empty shell's attention to a battle breeder in Hoenn?" Branwen asked as they ceased their tapping. "Surely this isn't just a friendly get together call."

"Alas, I do not have the time for pleasantries," Kyurem sighed wistfully. "No, I call for your attention for a more important matter. You see, I seem to have found myself in a bit of a predicament. The details I cannot divulge to you at this time, but I digress. I am in dire need of assistance and I would much prefer for someone like myself to come to my aid as opposed to some hooligan to come in and act as my white knight. Therefore, I chose you to champion me."

"That's a... pretty bold proposal for such little information." Branwen replied, feeling uneasy at the proposition. Kyurem had given them little information to go off of, but yet they knew that whatever the dragon wanted them to do had to be important. After all, why else would it contact them? Then again, Branwen didn't know what they were agreeing to. For all they knew, they could end up enslaving themself or something equally as tragic. If they accepted, they could end up throwing themselves straight into danger and if they refused, they took their chances with gaining a legendary's ire. As odd as the situation was, Branwen knew the last thing they needed was to face a legendary's wrath.

"Alright then," Branwen said flatly in an attempt to hide their strained nerves. "I'll champion you as long as you aren't just pulling me around on a wild goose chase." A soft cackle resounded in Branwen's mind, causing shivers to go down their spine.

"Excellent," Kyurem hummed. "Head to the outer fields beyond Fortree City once the transformation is done. You will be assessed further there." Before Branwen could inquire as to what Kyurem meant by transformation, a brilliant silver light engulfed their body. They could hear Luxray's howl of surprise as she leaped off the bed and stared in amazement at the blinding light that swallowed her trainer. Branwen could feel a tingling sensation in their scalp followed by a wrenching pain from the top of their head. They jerked forward as a pain wracked their head. Their body suddenly felt unnaturally cold, causing them to gasp. The coldness was much unlike that of the dream. In the dream, the cold felt imaginary as though Branwen only thought they would cold as opposed to be actually being so. Now, they felt ice run through their veins like acid as their body shook with the weight of the pain.

The light suddenly vanished, leaving, Branwen to grasp the table with their clenched hands, gasping for breath. The air around them felt colder and the pain was nothing more than a phantom. Instinctively, they reached for their hand, grasping at their scalp. Their hair felt fine if not a bit more glossy but that wasn't what worried them. Their fingers pressed against a hard surface, causing them to quickly remove their hands as shock overcame them. Slowly, they pressed their fingers against the surface again. The object seemed to be protruding from Branwen's head. It was cold to touch but, after an experimental tug, Branwen could confirm that it was sturdy. Pulling at the object didn't hurt and tearing it off seemed to be a near impossible task. After some more searching, Branwen located a second identical object a few inches away from the first.

"What are these, horns?" Branwen asked themself quietly as they lowered their itching fingers. A whimper from behind Branwen, brought their attention back to Luxray. Her ears were laid back and sparks of electricity were dancing off of her body.

"Oh darling," Branwen cooed as they lowered themselves onto their knees, outstretching their arms in a docile matter. "Don't look so frightened, I'm still me." This seemed to calm Luxray down immensely. She took a few steps forward as though uncertain, but when she finally reached her trainer's side, she pressed her head against their chest and let her muscles relax. Branwen barely had time to stroke the feline's fur, offering a few words of comfort, before a horrid shriek filled the house. Both Branwen and Luxray stiffened as the familiar shriek turned into agonizing yells.

"Cathy?" Branwen called, their voice tinged with fear as they stood themselves up. Why was their daughter screaming so horribly? Was she hurt? Did something happen? With little hesitation, Branwen ran out of their bedroom and headed towards where they heard ugly sobbing, Luxray right at their heels all the while. Their daughter's horrified sobs emitted from the bathroom. Feeling their heart hammering in their chest, Branwen opened the door in a not so gently manner.

"Cathy sweetie, are you alright?" Branwen inquired, their eyes darting around the room.

The title of champion became a burden to Brandon, rather than an accomplishment once the world began falling apart. The League had decided to remain open, and as such, Brandon had to remain near his home in Evergande City. He was powerless to the disastrous happenings on the mainland of Hoenn, which he had come to love in his time there. Eventually, he decided to do something about it. He left Evergrande upon Fury and braved the extremely turbulent sea in order to help the mainland as a champion should help his region. The League, especially Wallace, was unhappy at Brandon, at his young age, travelling into a horror-filled Hoenn alone, but as champion, Brandon assured them that he would be quite alright, as long as he had his Pokemon.

After a long and hard trek, Brandon finally made it to Lilycove, or what used to be Lilycove. The trip was exhausting, and just as he reached the shore, he turned back and saw a tidal wave. It was the size of 3 Wailord and moving fast. If he didn't move quickly, he would not survive. He ran for his life, but his exhaustion got the better of him, and he fainted.

A voice as deep as space itself spoke from the blackness.

"You have been chosen to save this world."

"What?" Brandon wasn't sure if he was conscious or not.

"The menace, Hoopa, has trapped us beings you call legendaries, and you have been chosen as my champion to save us. Meet with the others chosen in Fortree."

Brandon was beyond confused. "Who are you?"

"I am Palkia, hurry, there isn't much time, you will be given some of my power in exchange for your oath to save this world. Do you accept?"

The world... could this actually be the case? could the legendaries actually be trapped? Everyone had believed they had simply forsaken us, but this could give new hope to the world, if they still wanted to save it. Brandon had set off to help others, and this was a perfect opportunity to do just that, if it was true.

"I accept."

And with that, Brandon blacked out, again. When he came to, he was in a bed inside a quaint home. His first thought, was of course "It was all a dream", but that thought was quickly followed by "Holy Crap! Why are there glowing purple lines all over my skin?"

Leave it to a space god to give someone power, and not tell them how to use it.

There is no time for tears. Get up! Show me your strength!

"No!" Cathy shouted into her knees, curling up into a tighter ball. "I'm crazy! You're just a random voice in my head! You're not real!"

I am very real, child. You need only pay attention. Now, stand up! You are my champion!

Shaking her head, she coughed out another sob. "Why me? Why not pick someone else? I don't even know who you are! Leave me alone!"

Pressure filled her head and she gasped, jerking her body as she looked up abruptly. I am called Mewtwo. I chose you as my champion because your hatred and frustration make you strong. Now, rise! Go to the fields outside of your Fortree City and aid me in obtaining freedom!

"But, why?" she pressed, shaking her head again. "You turned me into a freak!"

The bathroom door opened with a bang against the wall and her mother was speaking, asking if she was alright. Cathy gasped in surprise and fear, not wanting Branwen to see her. "No! Get out! Don't look at me!" she screamed, throwing out her hands, mutated fingers spread.

Her eyes glowed, concealing the whites and violet irises with a bright purple light. Power erupted outward, causing toothbrushes, towels, and other items to be thrown across the room. The cabinets slammed open and shut, the mirror shattering and wood splintering.

That same power slammed into Branwen and Luxray.

Once the outburst faded, Cathy shouted with horror and curled back up into a ball, wanting to disappear.

Psychic abilities are at your command. You have witnessed only a fraction of your power. Stand up, go to the fields, and witness your full potential.

He had finished freaking out that he was in a very, very strange place.

He walked on in the bright sunlight before hearing something. "Hello there." He freaked as he heard this voice, it was strange and new, yet sounded primal and old, scarred with anger. "You have been chosen, by me the mighty Arceus. "Arceus!? I thought he was only a mere legend, to be told to children to give them hope. It seems you are truly real?" "The transformation shall start soon, for now I tell you to start moving to the fields beyond Fortree." A light appeared and he suddenly felt a jolt of pain. He felt himself grow taller and a ring grew around his abdomen. Small fleshy horns grew. "AIEE!" "The foolish Hoopa has got us into this mess, you will be the one to save us from this mess." "I'm not ready for this though... But I shall do as you say, Oh Great One." "Good." He suddenly felt something as his skin color changed and the ring changed. A blast suddenly came from his hands, it was the color of the ocean and it washed over rocks and left nothing of the rocks behind. "I think I can do this now, what they wish me to do, whatever it is." He had started walking to the field where they said to go, but noticed he had lost a ton of energy from whatever he just performed. He was panting and nearly fainted by the time he was at the fields. He had to ride on his Garchomp the last mile.
