Personality Types!

Recommended Posts

Recently, I came across this fun little test created to find out what your personality type is. You might have even heard of it before, The Jung Typography Test. As always with things like this, it's hard to decide whether you should take it seriously or not. In my opinion, it's all up to you. Regardless of what the test says, you are who you want to be. On that note, it was still an interesting experience.

I think you'd be better off just trying it yourself! It's actually really interesting, and I found that I learned a lot about myself. Not in the sense that I discovered anything NEW about my personality. The test just sort of explains who you are from a more analytical perspective.

Typography Test

My results were;

ISTP or, Introvert, Sensing, Thinking, Perceiving. I gotta say, after reading into what each of those meant, this test REALLY got me! Despite not even being that long.

The rest of the site is sort of this.... help you find your match or career choices that might suit you. I didn't look too far into all that, but you might find it useful.

I figured talking about personality types would make for some good discussions! Feel free to post your own results!

Hehe, this is my jam. I've read on both MBTI/Jung and Enneagrams (which I'll save for another day). Let me drop a few links.

look at these personality types as functions rather than letters. The function stack determine your letters, not the other way around. This helps you narrow down your exact type (especially when you score things like 49-51 for certain letters), because types that are one letter off are sometimes as different as night and day when it comes to functions. ISFP and ISFJ are both Feelers, but process feelings in completely different ways (dominant introverted feeling VS secondary extroverted feeling)

Every letter thus divides itself into two kinds. Introverted can be thought of as narrow and focused, extroverted as broad and wide. For instance, introverted intution (Ni) views possibilities and different perspectives of a situation, while extroverted intuition (Ne) is about making connections on a broader scale. This link explains it much better. The other stuff on the website is pretty good too, including ways to tell functions apart and how functions would act in an amusement park. biggrin.gif There's also a nice explanation of functions "in the grip", which is essentially about how people revert to their weakest function when they get stressed.

Here's the chart (click for fullsize). I have a copy of this taped to my desk.

I had the hardest time deciding my type through my high school years. The only thing consistent in my tests were P; the others were up in the air, especially the E/I. I was quiet, kept myself alone. Introvert, right? Not really. As the video I linked said, we're all Thinkers and Feelers, Introverts and Extroverts. I thought myself INTP for the longest time, but I had been doubting it for a while until I discovered the function stack, landing me squarely as an ENTP because of my ridiculously scatterbrained idea-hopping (Ne) and my habit of looking out for others' feelings (Fe).

There's a lot more reading on it that could be done, but the FunkyMBTI is a great start. Here's hoping that this lets you all see the types a little differently.

To end on a fun note, here's another website talking about the types in a apocalyptical setting. The rest of the site (the comics!) are pretty good too.

I feel like I've been scolded T.T "Don't pass these tests on to people...." Heh...*cough* Scuse' me while I slink away into the depths of Youtube for a few days. *dash*

I'm IXTJ with a tiny but very consistent lean on the X towards S on every test I've taken.

These tests are a lot of fun and I think most of the people who say they stupid/useless/pointless/dangerous have missed the point and are thinking they're supposed to dictate your life or something. It's just another way of looking at yourself and how you compare with the people around you. I know discovering the actual definition of introversion (as opposed to shyness) made me feel a lot less guilty about not always wanting to be around people.

I dislike the enneagram because it feels so negative about everything >_< MBTI is much more cheerful.

Keep in mind that this is just this one guy's opinion. He might have been able to word it a bit nicer, but I like his sense of deadpan sarcasm. ^^ And yes, these tests are fun though I wanted to show a different take on it because so many people have difficulty narrowing their type.

And MBTI/Jung makes me feel a little bit better about people who are blunt and may seem like jerks at first glance -- some people (like my ENTJ friend) are just not good with feelings and I know they're not consciously being mean (most of the time)

I'm INTJ! I've taken a few different tests and I always get INTJ. I really, really like personality tests of all kinds so I've done quite a bit of research on my own personality tongue.gif

As for the enneagram test, I'm type 1. Second highest score was type 6.

This is the first personality test I've ever taken like this. My result was: INFP With my strongest letter being I followed by F.

I'm not really sure what all of that means, but I found it to be a great insight to further understanding my personality. Plus it was fun to see that I share similar traits with famous people, including Shakespeare. smile.gif

This is what I got

ISTP

Introvert(89%) Sensing(38%) Thinking(1%) Perceiving(11%)

You have strong preference of Introversion over Extraversion (89%)

You have moderate preference of Sensing over Intuition (38%)

You have marginal or no preference of Thinking over Feeling (1%)

Is that bad?

I typically tend to get either ESTP or INTP in these tests. With "T" being the strongest bias, S and P being moderate and E/I sitting almost squat in the middle.

OMG! The apocalypse plan for INTPs. This is exactly me!

The walk to the internet service provider company will be relatively uneventful.  Or so you will assume, since you won't look up from your book the whole way.  In fact, you were twice hunted by direwolves, but they were driven off by hungry deathbears.  Then you were chased by zombies, but they were deterred by the forest fire ignited by the land mines.

I have taken the test many times over the past few years. Always INTJ.

Introvert(100%) iNtuitive(62%) Thinking(100%) Judging(56%).

All of the introverted thinking is mine, apparently.

According to that apocalyptic behavior website, we INTJ's were the ones who caused the end of the world in the first place.

Survival Preparations: Unfair causational advantage

Intelligence: Terrifying

Warm Fuzzies: Absolute zero

so we are just evil robots it seems

INTJ

Introvert(78%) iNtuitive(38%) Thinking(25%) Judging(11%)

You have strong preference of Introversion over Extraversion (78%)

You have moderate preference of Intuition over Sensing (38%)

You have moderate preference of Thinking over Feeling (25%)

You have slight preference of Judging over Perceiving (11%)

Eee... now I remember why I don't take personality tests. They make me think and then I get sad. >->

Reading the INTJ description--kind of. It's mostly hit or wild, wild miss.

I'm not self-confident. Yeah, I do know enough about certain things, but I also know how little I know about those things overall, which makes me very self-conscious about what I say/claim to know. I guess that fits into this:

When it comes to their own areas of expertise -- and INTJs can have several -- they will be able to tell you almost immediately whether or not they can help you, and if so, how. INTJs know what they know, and perhaps still more importantly, they know what they don't know.

unusual independence of mind, freeing the INTJ from the constraints of authority, convention, or sentiment for its own sake.

Haha. I try my best to stay within social convention and if I mess up and realize it, I apologize profusely. It's right that I don't appreciate sentiment for its own sake, but I respect authority and convention... convention for the sake of fitting in, and authority because I think we need it to function.

"System Builders" - imagination and reliability

Imagination, yes, but not reliability! For things I have to do, I'm decently dependable, but I have trouble keeping up with optional obligations.

they do tend to be scrupulous and even-handed about recognizing the individual contributions that have gone into a project, and have a gift for seizing opportunities which others might not even notice.

Sure, I think that describes me well.

Personal relationships, particularly romantic ones, can be the INTJ's Achilles heel. While they are capable of caring deeply for others (usually a select few), and are willing to spend a great deal of time and effort on a relationship, the knowledge and self-confidence that make them so successful in other areas can suddenly abandon or mislead them in interpersonal situations.

Hm! Hadn't thought about it this way. I do care deeply for significant others and close friends and will definitely spend ridiculous amounts of time on one-on-one relationships. I thought that was a good thing, though. I guess it's not for a lot of people. xd.png I have plowed ahead in the past, which has led to bad endings.

This happens in part because many INTJs do not readily grasp the social rituals; for instance, they tend to have little patience and less understanding of such things as small talk and flirtation ... . To complicate matters, INTJs are usually extremely private people, and can often be naturally impassive as well, which makes them easy to misread and misunderstand. Perhaps the most fundamental problem, however, is that INTJs really want people to make sense. :-) This sometimes results in a peculiar naivete', paralleling that of many Fs -- only instead of expecting inexhaustible affection and empathy from a romantic relationship, the INTJ will expect inexhaustible reasonability and directness.

Sure! I have a lot of trouble with social convention. I like to get right into the deep stuff. I definitely expect more reason than affection in a relationship, but it's important to have each. I am definitely naive when it comes to relationships, both romantic and platonic.

Oh haha! I actually meant "robots" as in emotionless masterminds but what you said makes more sense lol I didn't even think of it like that~

So many INTJ's here already omg??

I'm an INFP and I knew that before I came into the thread. biggrin.gif

These tests are certainly not meant to rule your life but since finding out I've understood myself, and why I roll the way I do, much better. smile.gif

Lol at the INFP survival plan. I can't stand blood. So I'd be patching up souls rather than bodies and I've learnt to be assertive so it'd be "leave or I'll zap you" with a hint of silver lightening to back that up. Plus my preferred mate is the ENFJ. Otherwise fairly accurate. biggrin.gif
