I have a different dragon every day with a different complaint.

 

I've just been decorating how I want. I don't max out the items of a section if I don't want to.

Okay, my bred Whiptail attracts these things:

Day 1 - Grave dragon. Likes the shinies, wants more meat.

Day 2 - Imperial Fleshcrowne. Likes the sweets, wants more Shinies.

Day 3 - Bleeding Moon. Likes the misc., wants more meat.

 

I just max out the things that the visitor likes, and then make everything else one less than that.

While this did not attract the expected Golden W., the items DID attract a dragon with a color pallet matching the items chosen! This theory coincides with my day 1 Undine (I took a screen shot of the cave and the colors that day did match up to undine. I don't know what my initial items were yesterday). Does this mean that the dragon of the day is chosen based on the dominant color of the initial decorations used in the cave that day (with randomly chosen dragon when several possible dragons match the pallet) or a combination of dominate category used and color pallet?

I don't think that the color of the items has any influence. In my case, they did not match:

Day 1: all my items were orange (orange crystals and leaves) - I got a shadow walker (Silver/white)

Day 2: all my items were orange (orange crystals, orange and orange/blue leaves, white/orange mushrooms from day 1) - I got a teimarr (Teal, white, yellow and black)

Day 3: all my items were orange (orange crystals, orange and orange/blue leaves, white/orange mushrooms, shiny orange blocks from day 2) - I got a desipis (Black, gray, bright orange, bone white)

 

Now that we are on day 3, I can update my hypothesis about how this game works. These are still guesses and I might be wrong. But here is what I think:

• Every day, one dragon visits our cave.
• The visiting dragon seems to be picked at random and is not related to what we have in our cave (maybe because we do not have enough items yet?).
• Although we cannot attract a specific dragon yet, we can learn from our random visitors what each breed likes most. We can do that by changing the mix of items and seeing how they react.
• At the end of the event, the type of dragon that will stay with us depends on how well we guessed the numbers.
• Currently, we do not have enough items to satisfy any dragon. As the maximum number of items that we can place increases each day, I hope that we will get different messages and maybe make some dragons happy before the end of the event.
• All items in the same category (magic, meat, etc.) have the same value, regardless of their color or shape. The only thing that matters is the number of items in each category.
• It is likely that each breed requires a specific number of items for its "main" and "secondary" preference, but other types of items may also make a difference between breeds that have the same primary and secondary preferences. It may be necessary to learn what items are disliked by some breeds and ignored by others, in order to repulse a common breed and attract a rare one if both of them share the same primary and secondary preferences.

If these guesses are correct, then here is what we should do every day for each visiting dragon if we want to increase our chances of getting a specific dragon by the end of this event:

• Change the mix of items in our cave until we have a message saying that our visitor is interested and likes the collection of items. This allows us to learn the main and secondary preferences for this breed.
• It is not useful to post here a message saying only that the dragon is "mildly interested" because that does not tell us anything about the secondary preferences of that breed.
• We should also experiment with the other categories and see if increasing the number of items in the other categories than the main and secondary ones has a negative influence on that dragon or not. This allows us to learn if some categories of items can help us to attract or repulse some breeds that share the same primary and secondary preferences.

I am still thinking about starting a new thread because there are too many messages here that do not give much useful information and only include a "mildly interested" message. And most of us did not fully experiment with what happens when we maximize the items that are not the main and secondary preferences. Edited February 16, 2015 by Bugzilla

It seems that the only way to get a dragon lady's disinterest is to use something that isn't her primary focus as your main element. For example, bright pinks have meat/sweets, in that order. If you put 22 or more meat into your cave, she'll be interested unless there's more of another category. 22 meat plus 21 of everything else - and she's fine (but going to look for a mate with more sweets regardless). 22 meat and 22 or more of anything else, and she's merely "mildly interested" and leaving for a mate with more meat.

Okay so I didn't keep track of my attempts, but this is what I found:

 

(Day 3)

Balloon Dragon

Primary: Sweets

Secondary: Misc.

Keeping sweets at 30 and Misc. at 29, she was interested when everything else was below 30. When Shinies and Magic got to 30 she would become mildly interested, but did not change when I maxed out Meat.

 

So Balloons like Sweets, then Misc, they ignore meat, and dislike everything else. I wish I had kept track of this with the white :/ oh well.

What I was trying to say is that they may be assigned a color. Predominantly shine with blue? Waterhorse. The color idea just inspired me. Some may be attracted because that color was assigned to that breed. It may not be the color pattern of the dragon itself with the breed randomly picked if the cave fits multiple criteria. Still, it's an interesting hypothesis. Can't wait to see what happens when I have a cave filled with 1 item (golden scales or red crabs?). At the very least, it will either disprove my theory or prove that the dragons aren't random if the dragon that comes it one attracted to the category provided.

I did actually experiment a bit with this and only got the two messages with adding items from one of the 3 non wanted categories only causing a change if they equaled or exceeded the primary. Increasing/maxing out one, two, or three with and without the presence of the secondary and/or primary did not change anything otherwise. Liked Collection message appears if the primary want was greater than those not wanted and greater than or equal to the secondary want.

The OP (helix9) can be edited by the original poster if they agree with your idea. Another thread would be a duplicate and quickly burned unless the OP decides to create another and ask for this one to be burned for a good reason and ALL data from this thread was brought over. helix9, rubyshoes, and other site mods are the only ones that can change, edit, or alter this topic in any way. All we can do is collect/compile data and propose/test hypotheses.
