Posted December 29, 2014 (edited) While Mistletoe is parasitic in all forms (though some do a little bit of photosynthesis) genus Viscum includes a bunch of keystone species. Yes, it is a parasite, but it's an essential parasite and a basis of many food webs. If any of you have access to http://rspb.royalsocietypublishing.org/con.../rspb.2012.0856, David M. Watson and Matthew Herring have done fascinating work on the subject. Thanks so much for posting this, Wokenulape! Apart from everything else, if only people really realized how essential ecological diversity is, and how much effect the loss of one species can have on others and the environment as a whole, we'd all be pushing for strict industry regulation regarding not only excessive deforestation but avoidable hazardous industrial contaminants of numerous types. This principle of the importance of diversity also applies to DC. While some may feel that all sprites must be 'modernized' to conform to a single area of current taste or be upset that not everyone - or they themselves - happen to not particularly like all sprites, this is only to be expected in any group of people. We all have different tastes and with enough diversity, there's something for everyone to love and collect, without everyone being required to adore or collect mass quantities of the same styles or variations. One can respect the level of talent and skill involved in making a well-thought-out and beautifully crafted sprite without, however, personally finding that this sprite evokes the same feelings in them as it may do in others. It's good that sprites are not restricted to those which only suit everyone playing DC at the time, or we'd be collecting nothing and the entire DC 'ecology' would perish. No large, diverse group of people can ever be reasonably expected to entirely agree upon anything where taste is concerned. I'm certainly very grateful to TJ, the spriters and Mods who all make this virtual world exist and keep it running, and I don't have to adore all sprites produced on a personal level to feel that way, any more than does anyone else. Happy New Dragon and Year, everyone! And many thanks to all the apparent millions involved in this whole wonderful Holiday mish-mash, you ALL ROCK! (Does Odeen write professionally?) Lol, I've been sent a blank card and an anonymous kitty - is that possible, or a glitch? Edit: this is cute, just got one saying 'Hello, my name is anonymous kitty'! Only I can't return the favour, lol. Moeru, I had that sort of glitching happen once, briefly, earlier today and a refresh fixed it instantly, haven't had it since. Posted December 29, 2014 I've refreshed my gifts page a few times and the page is not displaying correctly. The presents are stuck beneath the tags, and all of the tags are the white tag with holly-- for some reason the images are loading incorrectly and the location of the images is also wrong on the page. Posted December 29, 2014 (edited) The adults are absolutely gorgeous, and I've loved the stories and presents. BUT... Even though I've had plenty of graphics glitching, usually hard refreshes could fix it. Not this time though. All my presents - apart from 8, set in a double row (as opposed to the single column they were in before) - are gone... Just gone. I've done hard refreshes, restarts of browsers, changing browsers, changing comps, restarting comps, restarting modem, and they're still just gone. Am I really the only one having this problem?
