Solstice Sprites

Sincerely, I saw I got kinda confused when I saw my Solstice, and I noticed she had blue wings. I didn't play DC for a long time (Like, I only started this year), so I wanted to know if is also possible obtain the adult one with the reddish hues on the wings, or everyone is getting them with blue wings?

 

I like my blue one, I hope they aren't removed <3 But I also wanted one with reddish wings, so I want to know if its possible

But it do change lineage appearances, as presents might sometimes become something you don't know what to do with (for example, a necklace this year which is useless, which is why I personally prefer discuss beforehead and give something other people fond of or have uses of). If it's a "present" and for this specific year only, hopefully those CBs will breed their own colour next year.

Maybe there will be some way to exchange them.

I think it's kind of a shame. I love the sunset colouring, the Solstice is one of my favorite holiday dragons this far. They have a lot of work put into them and that can be seen.

The blue colouring is nice, it's like a beautiful winter night, it's a bit of a shame that we didn't know about this tho. It seems a lot of breeders are a bit disspointed and/or sad that their project have been spoiled a little.

 

Since we have the sunset colouring from last year, maybe next year they'll be like a winter morning and the year after a winter day, to have a compelte cycle? It'll take 4 years to complete which is a bit of an overkill in my honest opinion, but it's still kind of neat if that's what going to happen.

 

None the less I do hope the sunset colouring will still be available to new players in the future, since it is so lovely. ^^

My first Solstice G2 just grew up and I thought it was an error or my eyes played me tricks lol. Though I do like how they look, I really LOVE the reddish Solstice and I caught/bred more Solstice than anything else this year because of this. They are my favorite Christmas dragons and therefore I am a bit disappointed. The missing red makes them less special in my eyes.

I really hope it's permanent and that they'll alternate colours from year to year to give everyone the chance to collect the version they like. I'll be collecting the blue one!

Two of my solstices just grew up and I thought "I didn't remember them being SO gorgeous".

I really hope it's permanent and that they'll alternate colours from year to year to give everyone the chance to collect the version they like. I'll be collecting the blue one!

The all blue wings look super awesome with the GON lineages!

I believe I saw someone in the news thread suggest that the coloring may be linked to when the eggs are laid in relation to the Solstice. That theory does make a good bit of sense since the solstice is the celebration of the "return of the sun." Before then is the darkest part of the year so you get blue wings, but after you get the sunrise markings showing up.

 

Have to wait and see how more recently laid eggs color up as they mature.

For me, the sunset colours always made the otherwise gorgeously made sprite too busy looking, so I am hugely happy about this alternate sprite.

Actually, I think it was mainly that it.... wasn't what I expected. The blue is pretty in its own way just... different from what I thought I was getting.

Their affinity is time, so this makes sense.

I picked the mate breeds for Solstice precisely based on the color of the

only sample we had knowledge of: the original with colorful wings.

 

Now somebody's idea has ruined all the planned lineages I had.

This is the same feeling as changing deadlines in the middle of the game.

I am very disappointed, unhappy, upset, and angry...

 

This is a direct slap in the face to any player doing lineages.

I think that was me? |D; I double checked the news thread and didn't see any other mentions.

 

Eggs laid on the 21st won't grow up until at least the 26th, so we'll just have to wait and see what happens.

I just went adult-hunting to fill in my encyclopaedia entry for them properly and the sprite shown there is the red one. Which would be a bit strange if, as a very recent player, I can never actually get that version.

I've decided I actually quite like the blue version, the main thing bothering me now is that my 2nd Gens don't match their mothers in their lineages.

I feel like I am in the minority here and I am surprised about that.

 

Maybe if I had never seen the original Solstices with the beautiful blush on their wings then I would love these, but I can't shake the feeling of disappointment. That sprite was definitely my favorite of all the Christmas dragons -- even favored over the Holly -- but now they are just okay.

 

I paired mine with Sunsongs because of that coloring and now it just all looks so wrong. I am no longer even interested in continuing that lineage that I was so excited about and put a great deal of effort into trading for. I have some hatchies with Silver fathers and those will look okay, I guess, because that match doesn't need the pinkish color. I just wish I had known this was going to happen. I would certainly have done things differently.

 

If this is a "present" then I want to return it!!!

Add me to the list of people who hope that the wing colors will alternate every year. I don't want to see the sunset wings be another sprite that newbies can never get. Plus, you know. Alternation is cool.

 

Personally, I vastly prefer the sunset wings, too, but the change won't affect my lineage plans (2 of the 3 are blue dragons, the other is the Black Tea which I tend to breed with almost everything). The bluewing version IS pretty. I'm just feeling a little bummed out that all the Solstice babies won't have their mama's pretty wings.

Oh, don't get me wrong. I'm not asking that we throw out the bluewings. A lot of people really love them, and I wouldn't want to take that away from them. I just really want to still be able to get sunset wings and I want new players to be able to have them, too.

 

Honestly, though, wouldn't it be cool if they alternated every year? So they'd all be bluewings this year, but next year, they'd all be sunset wings again, and then back to bluewings the year after that. We could get our proper checkers next year from our CBs, and be able to work on some really lovely alternating lines from this year's dragons. THAT I could get excited about. It would certainly add some strategy work to the already strategic holiday breeding.

I don't know if persuading TJ to revert the sprites wouldn't cause more drama, since there are people around who like and want to keep them.

 

I think I would've been a lot less disappointed if I had known of this beforehand. I mean, my life will go on without building those checker lineages, but I don't like it when I expect one thing, make my plans according to that and suddenly get something else that just isn't what I had hoped for. [i know, it's the thought that counts, but still...]
