Wow! These look awesome! The male Glaucus needs to grow up still, but both look amazing so far.

I'm really tired of small dragons, I almost wish I hadn't seen the post with the extra information. At least the sprites are nice to look at, so many lovely shades of blue. I was very worried when I saw the chubby hatchlings, but the Glaucus adults have a much more elegant look to them. I'm glad I grabbed a bunch of these.

I'm so surprised by the Howlers. They're fierce and dangerous, but still so beautiful. I love the wings a lot, that eye is all kinds of terrifying. Congrats Odeen, they're an absolutely fabulous addition to the cave.

However, I'm confused about the description. Not to pick apart such a lovely description, but under the description that all breeds have, it's somewhat contradicting.

Dragons don’t communicate with each other verbally

employ an impressive vocabulary of loud chortles, shrieks, and songs to communicate with one another

DC Drakes are between the size of a cat and the size of a husky, so they kind of have to be small. The Howlers (and all other Drakes) are around the same size too.

I don't think there is a contradiction. Verbally actually means with words. They can still communicate orally without communicating verbally.

Looks like TJ really messed up on the influencing of the adult dragons (the blue ones).

The male hatchling hasn't grown up yet. When TJ gets on, he'll turn one of the female glaucus and male howler back into hatchies and freeze them. :3

I do understand your confusion, but due to this in the standard dragon description:

To communicate, they use telepathy with each other and to speak to other creatures.

I believe the one you quoted really refers to them speaking with each other - similar to humans. Other noises may still be employed, though:

but they will growl to scare off predators and frighten prey.

Perhaps it's time for a few updates to the basic breed descriptions, though? =o

I always had a feeling that was going to bite them in the butt. Plus, if they don't communicate verbally, the dragons would have no need for voice boxes or even vocal cords.

But it's not a realistic species, so I guess we can give TJ a pass.

I haven't seen any differences between the Glaucus drakes. Was one supposed to be different or what?

They're both awesome! The stripes and colors on the Glaucus are really pretty (and thanks for that concept graphic Birdz), but I really love how the Howlers turned out. They look so fierce. >:D

TBH I'm not too worried about the contradicting description. There's already other breeds (I know Sweetling off the top of my head) that are said to make sounds as communication. I always took "don't communicate verbally" as not naturally speaking a language like English.

I think these will make me actually like the drakes. I usually breed short PB lines of new releases anyway, but I've done practically nothing with drakes before.

Beautiful! Both of them.

I was confused, though because I didn't realize that both of TJ's Glaucus adults are female and I was trying to find the dimorphism. laugh.gif (And now the male has grown up!)

I especially like the female Howler.

I think the Howlers will go very well with both Ochredrakes and Night Glories, but I don't see as good a match with the Glaucus and the Day Glory.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who did this ;P

Dragons can communicate vocally, but not necessarily verbally. While verbally CAN mean oral sounds in general, in the description's case it means words. They don't communicate with words like we do, instead using telepathy for that.

EDIT: grammar stuff :P

Oh gosh, the male Glaucus! <3<3

Also, just realized WHY that name is familiar, it's that little gorgeous species of sea slug if I remember correctly. So much love for the Glacus and Howler drakes right now, I'm head over heels for them both! Howler is definitely going in with my favorites. <3

Agree. I'll probably purebreed the Glaucus.

That's more what my post was poking at. wink.gif It's a little bit dusty.

That exactly how I always understood it, 'cept you said it better. The Sweetlings also say they "have a large array of calls to communicate with others. They become very vocal during breeding season and sing long, beautiful melodies".

Well, it depends on how you interpret 'communicate'. If you mean language in the human sense, I can see what you mean. But animals have their own way of communicating. Grasshoppers rub their legs against their bodies to communicate mating ability, dolphins chirp, whales sing, etc, etc. Maybe a language we don't recognize as such but they communicate nonetheless.

But as you said, it doesn't matter.

Though it would be cool to have a sound bank for the dragons.

Here's an interesting thought. In lineages, the female Glaucus will be looking at her children. The male will be looking away from his children and at his parents.

Hadn't thought about that before.

All the hatchings grow up! And they are all so pretty!!! biggrin.gif I kinda wish the Glaucus drakes are dragons though... They don't match the other drakes... Maybe they will look nice with Day Glories.
