Dain

Language -> Dorm -> Cafeteria

Dain frowned at the fact that the teachers didn't even hint at attempting to give him a real answer. Figures considering the fact that they enjoyed pranks almost as much as he does. He looked towards the darkened half of the room once more before shrugging and decided that he will simply just ignore it. The bell rang and not a moment to soon for Dain as his stomach let out a gnarled hiss. Dain stood and made his way to the doorways, waiting for the congestion to die down. His first stop was his dorm, he needed to drink and retrieve Luz. From there he considered making his way to cafeteria and meet up with Tatsuke. He can put some solids in his system there as well.

Upon reaching his dorm, Dain removed his hat and jacket throwing them over his arms. He opened the door slowly, as to not disturb his partner in case she was sleeping. Luz, however, was not sleeping, and instead was waiting in ambush for Dain. When he walked in, she jumped on his shoulder and wrapped her wings around his eyes. After a slight moment, Luz removed herself and glided to the bed. "Hello Luz, I guess you are feeling well today?" Dain made his way while speaking to the mini fridge and pulled out a blood pack. Dain ripped the top of the bag like it was a pack of ketchup and squeezed the contents down his throat. Yes, yes, remarked Luz as she curled herself into a ball at the foot of the bed, how was your first two classes? Dain frowned at her question as his mind flashed back to the odd events that unfolded during language and the unidentified smell. "It, was interesting," he remarked slowly.

"Now," as Dain spoke, he made his was to the bathroom where in the mirror he could see how his hair was getting a bit long and becoming disheveled. Dain took a comb and attempted to straighten out his hair, but to no avail, "let's go to the cafeteria, I am sure you are hungry right Luz?" Luz picked herself up from the bed and flew to Dain's shoulder. Yes, very much so. She responded.

Dain and Luz made their way to the cafeteria, which, to no surprise, was packed. Lucky enough for him, he and Luz mainly ate raw meat, which allowed them to get their food quicker. After retrieving their food, Dain and Luz went to their standard table with the Go board and waited for their friend to show himself.

Camicar

The hallway

Room 39 (his room)

Camicar realized he was staring when he got a mean look from the boy. He turned around and walked off holding his dragon egg. He walked to the stairs, then up them. "What room am i again?" he asked himself. He shuffled through the papers in his pocket, trying to find his key. "Oh, there it is, room 39" he said, pulling out a key. He found his room and entered. There is a window in here? I should have asked for one without Camicar thought. He pulled some of the bedding off one of the beds and stuffed part of it in the top of the window, letting the rest hand down. That will keep most of the sun out he thought. He would have to cover it better later, or he might ask for a room without a window. He put his egg on the pillow of the bed he pulled the bedding off of. I can't wait for you to hatch he thought.

(i haven't posted Lorf leaving for town yet, if anyone wants to join him, he's still in the entrance, about to leave. He's going to leave on my next post probably)

Time Skip to Sunday morning half an hour before Assembly begins.

Something was rummaging through his room. Four, yellow-green eyes open as he listens to the sounds that the intruder was making, a faint frown entering his facial features. "What are you doing this time?" Al'nivte rolled over in his bed and sat up, a glare directed at the blue and yellow hatchling in his room.

"I want to see how many others are good with puzzles so I'm looking for materials to make one for them to solve," Shooka replied, prowling around the bedroom or climbing the furniture and searching various areas for any items that could be used.

Al hissed in frustration and shook his head, muttering through his beak. He rolled over again, putting his back to Shooka. However, he grimaced at the sound of claws scraping against the wooden boards. Sitting up, the Uccello shot another glare at his dragon and watched the little reptile as it continued about its business. "You are worse than a rodent. You know that?"

Shooka paused, looking up at the humanoid creature. "Everyone's opinion differs from another. What is one man's trash can be another man's treasure."

"Great! Now go be someone else's rotten treasure," Al growled, promptly getting out of bed, snatching up his coat, and starting for the door.

"Don't forget your key! Oh, Oh! Wait! Can I come with you? There's an assembly this morning in half an hour!" Shooka bounced after Al'nivte, fluttering tiny wings not yet ready to bear his weight in flight.

"How do you know there's an assembly this morning?" Al halted at the door, coat partially in place on his shoulders.

Shooka stopped bouncing, sitting at his companion's clawed feet. "Easy! I read your schedule!" The Uccello muttered once more and, snatching his key from the dresser, headed out the door. "Does this mean I can come?" Shooka hurried out of the room before Al could lock him inside, once more bouncing along after the Uccello.

[[i shall get Felic and Soria in once others have started posting again. Going to leave them in limbo so it's easier to have them interact with other students/teachers.]]

Lorf

First floor-Auditorium

Lorf walked into the Academy. He had gone out to town again. It was how he liked to use his time when he had no classes. He had made a few friends there, and found it to be much more enjoyable than most of what the Academy had to offer. He checked the time on a clock when he walked into the foyer. Good, i'm not late to the assembly Lorf thought. He began to walk up the stairs, but first went to his room to check on his egg. It still had not hatched for some reason, and he was beginning to get worried. He left his room and walked to the auditorium.

----

Camicar

Room 39

Camicar was very immersed in a book he was reading. It was a book about a man who had been raised by dragons years before the war. He was getting to a good part when he heard a loud crash behind him. Camicar jumped up to see what happened. "Merona, what did you do?" Camicar said. He had turned around to see his bed flipped and his nightstand on its side.

"I was looking for something to eat. Can't we go down for breakfast?" The small dragon said.

"You already had breakfast" Camicar replied. He stood up and shut his book. He knew he wasn't going to go back to reading anytime soon.

"But that was 2 hours ago. I'm hungry, and where going to miss the assembly anyway" Merona said in a whine.

Camicar had almost forgotten about the assembly. He looked at the time. "Ok, fine, we'll go down to the lunchroom and see if they still have any food, then we're going to the assembly" Camicar said. He put down his book and walked to the door.

"Yay!" Merona said, running after her owner.

Al'nivte and Shooka

Hallway

The Uccello heard sounds behind him and paused, glancing back the way he came and spotting another student. Lovely. Would this student want to interact? He sort of hoped not but then, perhaps he wouldn't mind learning a thing or three about the other individual. For a few moments, Al'nivte debated in his head about what to do. The student was getting closer, now likely to have already noticed the avian-like humanoid.

"Good morning!"

Damn. Al didn't have a choice now. Shooting a glare at Shooka, he frowned as the dragon ignored him. "Are you two on your way to breakfast? Tell me, what is the cuisine like?" Shooka inquired from the ghostly looking boy and his dragon companion.

Camicar

The hallway

As Camicar approached an Uccello on his way to the cafeteria, his dragon called out a greeting. "Hello" he replied to the dragon, "we are not on the way to breakfast, rather my dragon is on the way to seconds. Apparently 1 meal is not enough for her."

"Don't you know you need to get at least 8 meals a day?" The dragon said. It ran in front of Camicar and looked up at the Uccello. "You agree, don't you?"

Camicar shook his head. He understood that other races required food, but he never understood why his dragon needed so much. "I'm sorry, we haven't really met outside of class before, have we? I go by Camicar. My brownish-bluish dragon here is Merona. You don't have to listen to answer her. I try to ignore her as much as i can myself" Camicar said to the Uccello.

Merona jumped unto Camicar. "I'm sorry, I haven't met you before. My name is Merona. You can ignore my companion. He doesn't like to talk much, and i'm sure its straining him to hold a conversation" Merona said.

Dain

A few hours to thirty minutes before the assembly

It has been two weeks since school started, well not quite that much. Life had been sort of mediocre yet the whole school was beginning to get along with one another , well most of the school. Just life any school there was a few students who did not seem to care about the others. Dain had woken up quite early that day , typical of him with his morning routine. He woke up probably around five or so and dressed himself in his running clothes. Dain's normal routine consisted of getting up , going for a run, and taking a shower before eating and going to class. This morning dain lapped the school running on the beauty trails that the school has set up for what he can only guess was aesthetic purposes. The breeze felt nice on his skin and the freshness of the crisp night air was a welcomed relief to the normal dull and rancid air from the academy classes. It wasn't a long run however and he was able to finish in time to take a shower and get ready before the assembly. The assembly was called sort of randomly in the homeroom class, though he was told while in detention. Dain has a bad habit of going through and "trying to lighten things up," as he put it in class. Dain sighed, rolling his shoulders and popping his neck. He wondered how many of his fellow classmates would actually attend the assembly, he kinda hoped that Soria and Felic would, but that would be up to them. An other one he hoped would show up is Tatsuke. Dain has not seen Tatsie in quite a while.

Al'nivte and Shooka

Hallway

"Charmed...," the Uccello responded, trailing into silence as the pair babbled on. A faint smirk expressed itself through his beak but it didn't last long. "I don't blame either of you for wanting to ignore the other." It was a mumble, not truly directed at anyone.

Shooka remained at Al's side but examined Camicar and Merona. "It's nice to meet you properly. Interesting names. I am Shooka and the Uccello is Al'nivte," the young dragon introduced. "As for eight meals a day... Different flowers require different amounts of sunlight just as different animals survive on different diets. Come, a good meal is always better in good company." Ignoring the glare earned from Al, Shooka started walking for the cafeteria again.

Al'nivte was keen to just let the blue and yellow dragon go off on his own but, the Uccello needed food as well. Still, he was not happy with the fact that he would now have to suffer with babbling buffoons.

Colress Schmidt - Nurse's Office/Auditorium

After slowly dragging his eyes open, glancing around at the office, Colress stirred from 'sleep'. He pulled himself to a sitting position and looked around. His egg was shaking, it seemed. He reached out to steady it before a chip was taken from it. A tiny spark leaping to Colress, shocking him and knocking him back. The creature inside 'hurr'ed and then the shell burst. Colress drew back to stare at it with wide eyes. Then a tiny blue blur shot out with a screech. Colress squeaked, falling back, eyes sliding shut as his system shut down from shock.

Recovering soon, Colress locked eyes with the scaled dragon that stared him down. Swallowing hard, Colress tried to shrink back. The nurse chuckled at him. "It's only a dragon." "Just a dragon? JUST A DRAGON?!" the scaled creature snapped, sparks erupting over his scales. Colress made a high-pitch noise, eyes wider as he tried to avoid the sparks, not wanting another jolt like earlier. The dragon huffed at the sign of fear from his 'master' or whatever. "Oh, calm down you scaredy cat. I don't like my perches shaking." "S-sorry! I... You're a dragon." he breathed, as if just realizing it. He slowly raised himself to a sitting position. "That I am. Kite's the name. Don't wear it out." 'Kite' purred. "O-okay!" Colress replied, then with a glance at the time, panicked.

"Oh! We'd ought to get the the auditorium. Thanks, miss." he bowed his head politely, jumping to his feet. The dragon leapt quickly, grappling his shoulder as Colress made his way towards said area, now cautious of how he moved due to the dragon. Tripping significantly less, Colress entered the mostly empty area and picked a seat somewhere he had easy access to the door, but wasn't at the front, nor the back.

Camicar

Cafeteria

Merona hopped happily along the tables of food. "Get some pears, and some of that meaty stuff, oh and grapes, remember to get lots of grapes." she said.

Camicar trudged along behind her, putting the food on a plate. "I think we have enough" Camicar told the little dragon. He grabbed Merona by the scruff of her neck and sat down at a table, placing Merona on the table top. The dragon began to eat off the plate, not noticing the rough handling.

Camicar looked down at Merona. By now he was sure the dragon was a night glory drake. She was very small, and he knew she would only grow to the size of a kitten. He had imagined his dragon would be bigger, like something from the books he's read, but he was happy to have any kind of dragon. Later he would go to the library he had hear of and see if he could find any books on night glory drakes, as it would be bad to go un prepared. He might also look for a few interesting books to read, because he had already read through most of the ones he had brought.

Camicar looked over to the Uccelo and his dragon who had come to get breakfast with him. "What are you two eating?" he asked.

Lorf

Auditorium

When Lorf arrived at the auditorium, he found he was among the first students there. He saw a student he recognized by site. Some sort of robotic creature. He thought he knew the students name. Was it colorless? something like that Lorf thought. It didn't really matter. He noticed that the other student had a dragon. His dragon still hadn't hatched. The shell itself barely had a sign of life. He was beginning to wonder if he had chosen his egg too hastily.

Lorf didn't take a seat. Instead, he leaned up against a wall in the back of the auditorium.

Al'nivte and Shooka

Hallway -> Cafeteria

Rolling all four eyes, Al muttered beneath his breath. Doing his best to tune out Camicar and Merona, the Uccello grabbed a plate and filled it with a variety of raw meat that ranged from ribs or sirloin to thighs or wings. Shooka scurried across the countertop, examining one food item after another. "Will you just grab something, already? The noise you're making irritates my ears," he grumbled, starting to walk away from the counter.

The raw meat was found at a counter to stay cool while Camicar and Merona perused the tables nearby. As the other student asked about what they were eating, Al snorted and continued walking passed, selecting a table that was empty of others.

"Ignore him. Socialization is something of a different aspect for him," Shooka remarked from the countertops, selectively looking through the meats before finding a nice cut and gripping it with his claws. Taking a bite from it, the young dragon soon held it in his maw and hurried down from the counter, bounding towards Camicar and Merona.

Jumping onto one of the seats and then hopping onto the table, he joined Merona's side and sat with his tail curled around his hind legs. "Raw meat makes up a fair portion of my diet but, I indulge in some fruits now and then. Most dragons are either carnivores or herbivores. However, there are a handful who would fall under the category of omnivore." Taking a few moments and eat away most of his food, Shooka paused and tapped a claw to his chin. "Do either of you like riddles?"

The 'clack clack' of the half-elven Literature Arts teacher's heels could be heard reverberating down the hallway as Lynnsei made her way to her classroom. She was moving in a hurry. The first week she was supposed to start teaching had arrived, and she hadn't yet finished all of her preparations for her initial class the next day to come. How careless of me, she sighed and shook her head at herself as she unlocked the door to the Literature room. Resting her bag against the desk at the front of the room, she took a seat on chair and pulled out her files. Her earrings swung as she glanced from page to page, checking for any erroneous phrases that might spark a decent conversation with any sharp students.

Literature would be a tough subject to teach; she knew that, and that was why she had decided to take on this challenge. Rather confident in her memory and analysis of particular volumes of vast cultured literature, ranging from Icarian to Typhonian, she knew that it would instead be a more troublesome task to have to be able to control her students. Due to the diversity of species chosen for the academy, she had to be prepared for any sort of mischief or accident to occur. Teaching a full class was certainly different than one or two students, like when she used to tutor as a job.

After some thirty minutes of meticulous reading and re-writing, the revisions to her lessons were completed, and now Lynnsei had to find a way to spend the rest of her day. She knew that the assembly was going to start soon, and that meant that there was nothing for her to do.

Perhaps it would be a good idea to go around and meet some of the other teachers...

Once she had decided that socializing was the best way to spend her time, she left her files on the desk and locked the door behind her. Acei slithered from the interior of her bag onto her shoulders, just awoken from his sleep.

"Where to?" The dragon's voice sounded drowsy.

"Meet and greet," Lynnsei replied simply, and clacked down the hall, determined to meet some of her new co-workers.

Kaius was sitting on a chair in the auditorium, fiddling with the tail of his newly hatched dragon. Every time he ran his fingers down the scales on the tip of the tail, the dragon hissed in annoyance and drew it away from him.

The assembly was to start soon. The Phantasm could notice familiar faces from his previous classes enter the room, but paid them no attention, figuring that it wouldn't be worth trying to get close of any of them at the moment. Or even ever, he thought.

[Lol yep - misleading boxes....]

Jolinar/Agatha Fletcher: On route to Auditorium

It had been an awkward settling period. Not so much with the classes - that routine was easy to get used to. It was her roommate that made things slightly uncomfortable.

She'd inadvertently picked the room number of the Azazel student. Demons and Azazel's didn't mix well. Chances were Agatha and Sin would have gotten along, after the awkwardness of the initial meeting, if it wasn't for her being a host to the demon, Jolinar.

Now it was Sunday morning - and there was a school meeting to attend. Walking slowly down the hallways, her Royal Crimson hatchling still wanting to sleep, Agatha pondered what the meeting could be about.

Will need to name you too..... She mentally added, looking at the sleepy dragon.

---

Beriiel Rhuinae: somewhere between Staffroom and Auditorium

Beriiel was lost in thought, as she planned out what she would need for the coming Science classes. Supplies were not a problem - the question was whether the students' attention could be held long enough to get some work done.

Myst was enjoying the morning sky - Sundays were rather quiet for flying.

[There we go...., someone for Lynnsei to meet. And feel free to have other dragons interact with Myst too.]

"Get off," Seamus growled, quickly loosing his patience.

The Draug was struggling to pull up dry pants over his wet legs, which in and of itself was annoying due to the material sticking to his pale skin. What was even more annoying was that his Two-Finned Bluna hatchling was trying to weasel its way onto his lap as he was doing this. Even now, the unnamed dragon was forcing its upper half onto Seamus' bare thigh which was making the clothing process more annoying than it normally was. After a minute, the Draug couldn't take it anymore and forcefully shoved the seal-like reptile away from him. It started to whine in shock, and Seamus snapped at it, "I told you to get off and you didn't listen. You'll get no sympathy from me, so be quiet or I'll give you something to cry about!" Finally, Seamus wriggled into the stupid pants and grumbled partially in annoyance, partially in triumph.

The Bluna stopped whining, but now it was sniffling. "I'm sorry..." It cast its young eyes down at the floor and hung its head in shame. Seamus stared at it for a long time, his eyes burning holes into the little dragon's forehead, but eventually he moved his sneer elsewhere and started for the door. "I'm going to the assembly, then I'm going to the town." He knew without looking at him that the hatchling's face was going to light up, and he knew without hearing a sound that he was going to ask if he could come along. Seamus should have felt a twisted pleasure knowing he was in charge and he could do as he pleased to the hatchling within reason, but the little brat just made him angry. He didn't know why he was always infuriated with the dragon aside from the idea that he naturally disliked dragons (and all the other races in general), but when it came to others he found it fun to antagonize them. Cathartic in a way that everyone who had only lived one life would never quite understand.

But no. He just found himself resentful and angry in this situation. Maybe it was dragons that killed him in his past life? "No, you can't come with me. I'm not going to carry you two miles in two directions along with anything I want to buy, have to worry about you while I'm doing things, and also put up with your whining." He wanted to add 'behave next time', but something on his gut stopped him, and the little dragon had no time to protest as Seamus left the room with the shutting of the door being accentuating his departure.

--------

Tatsuke examined himself in the mirror of his room. First he tried to fix his cowlick, but it never brushed the way it should and that wasn't going to change now. Then he pressed his fingertips to the sides of his jaw, rubbing along the pale skin hoping to find the beginning of a beard. However Tatsuke was still a boy and not yet a man, at least according to his chin and cheeks. Then, he shut off the spell on his eyes and watched them slowly fade from golden back into the darkest onyx. Most people didn't know the golden eyes were just a spell that was taught to him at a young age, because it wasn't like he was just going to turn off his vision. Without the spell, he couldn't see the distance very well and he wouldn't be able to copy the notes from the board, and don't even remind him about walking around in the dark with it turned off. Further, he didn't like the way his eyes naturally looked; black and heartless.

He smiled a little bit as he reactivated the spell and played with their color- golden, purple, red, blue. Grandfather might have thought of the spell, but if that was true Tatsuke could never confirm it. He just recalled his eyes being a strange reddish clay color, and he remembered his father deciding on a natural brown so as not to distract others. For a moment, Tatsuke wondered why he had chosen gold in the first place, it was distracting and further it wasn't even his family color.

A frown marred his expression and he leaned forward to press his forehead into the mirror. The color of his eyes would be the last things on their minds if they learned what Choru, the school doctor and psychiatrist, had told him. He called it 'PTSD', which just sounded like a disease he didn't want to get until Choru elaborated. A traumatic thing happened to him a long time ago, and he was still suffering the consequences. Maybe he was all wrong about it before; it still sounded like a disease he didn't want. Apparently the sight of dragons 'triggered repressed memories', and when Choru told him this Tatsuke just pretended to understand what he was saying so he wouldn't talk about the subject any further. The way he saw it, there was something wrong with his brain- the one thing he had that he prided himself of. He was broken -useless- and he had been for a long time.

Hundreds of generations of Kahnoda spreading back across generations, conquering Demon, Man and Beast alike, uniting Nihoun just to tear it asunder when it needed to be reforged, many times loosing their friends and loved ones on the field of battle, and then there was weak little Tatsuke-chan, the moment his happy life takes a turn in a time of war, he just cracks and shatters. The war was over and so were the Kahnodas, just like that. The horrible truth was that he was from a region that thrived off war, and he was of a family that made blueprints of murder for a living. Where would his culture go from here? Where would his family's legacy go from here?

....where would he go from here?

But would his friends ever learn what he was going though? No, not if he had a say in it. Not Dain, not Syassuru, not even Devon could know his thoughts right now. Why bother them? They did care for him and Tatsuke knew that. He cared for them too, and that was why they would stay blissfully ignorant. They didn't need to be in his problems, they had their own. Tatsuke didn't think he was worth them even loosing a wink of sleep at night.

He reactivated the spell on his eyes and they burned a bright golden, he tore himself away from the mirror and he went to gather up his Go board then head to the assembly. He hadn't played with Dain in a while, so maybe, just maybe, he could push these problems off if only for another day...

Something was nudging his shoulder. Rolling over onto his other side, Felic drew the covers further over his head to block out the morning. "Rise and shine, Sola," Sorge purred, now nudging his back with her nose until he was about to fall off the bed.

Mumbling and trying to wave the dragoness away, Felic peaked over his shoulder with a bleary eye. "Alright, I'm up, I'm up," he responded, words slurred from sleep. Sitting up and rubbing at his eyes, the Empath stretched out his arms before scratching the back of his head and running fingers through his unruly hair. As he yawned, he glanced over at the little ticking clock that sat on his dresser. Good. He wasn't late for the assembly.

Climbing out of bed, he didn't rush with getting dressed for the day but neither did he lolly-gag. Once changed, he finished cleaning up and arranging his face - more really his hair - so it didn't look like he'd kissed a wall or something. Finally, he grabbed his key and headed into the hallways with Sorge.

Oh would you look at the time!

As ten o'clock rolled around, a small chime (obviously magicked) rang through the school. It's wasn't obnoxiously loud like the bell that rang after every hour during classes. However, it was loud enough to catch the attention of any student, teacher, and dragon on the campus grounds.

Felic entered the Auditorium with Soria and Sorge accompanying him. The female witch at least knew where the assemblies were held without a problem but, were it a class she had to attend, she was helpless.

Other students were filing into the large room or were already seated, some with what remained of their breakfasts. It was nice too see that most, if not all, of the new students' dragons had hatched and were flitting or hopping about from seemingly ceaseless energy.

Mostly, there was sleepiness or mild curiosity but Felic also picked up irritation and boredom. Usual emotions that he felt for an hour like this on the weekend.

Looking for Sin, he and Sorge made their way towards the side of the room, a little ways from the doors. Over the course of last year, he had slowly drifted away from sitting so close to a door, finding it easier with time to avoid being overwhelmed and less in need of an easy exit.

Anyways! All of the students, even the late ones, were finally seated. Teachers collected around the sides of the Auditorium, most of them standing with a few filling in whatever empty seats remained. For awhile, there was only murmuring until it rose to a noisy chatter among conversing groups.

Suddenly, there felt like a strong tug of magic hovering thickly in the air around them. Felic hadn't even blinked and he still didn't see how Headmaster Kaio came about to be at the pedestal. He just was. His presence gradually silenced the room, newer students shifting in their seats uncomfortably.

On the other side, Felic spotted Al'nivte, picking out the Uccello's distrust. Did he not trust Kaio? He could understand discomfort but not the lack of trust.

Oh well, the Headmaster was about to speak....

[[Take it away Lucky!

Dain shifted quietly in his seat. It was rare for the headmaster to call the entire student body to the auditorium like this. He looked around at the new students whom filled the chairs that last year was left empty. The entire auditorium was filled this year, which that itself was a sight to see. The ornate wood that lined the corners of the room, carved with such perfection that they seem unreal, towered up as a pillar, and than took a sharp 135 degree turn and run up the ceiling, meeting in the middle. A large chandelier swung, with an almost perfect quietness. Instead on of the chain from which it merged with the ceiling at the middle point, squeak with a long and eerie tone. Normally one wouldn't quite realize these minute observations, if it wasn't for the silenced students and the still quiet and non moving headmaster. Dain shifted once more, this time to the other side and began to fumble through his pockets. It only took a moment for him to find what he was looking for, a medallion about the size of a standard bottle cap. It was a black medallion, made from a mixture of gold and obsidian. The obsidian rock was weathered to a smoothness unattainable by even a master of the arts. Inside of the obsidian was a wave of dull gold flakes. The face of the medallion had a symbol etched on, a mark of a very powerful and ancient vampire clan. It didn't take long for Dain to get restless, and even spinning the medallion between his fingers wasn't helping. He looked back at the Headmaster, frowning as he stared at the creature. He has gotten used to the overwhelming pressure set on by the Headmaster, yet that didn't make it any easier to deal with. He finally reached his breaking point and had to do something. If he got in trouble for what he was about to do, than so be it, but at least it will slice through this anxious, dull atmosphere that has seemed to collect until it was too heavy, falling over the seats like a giant blanket. Dain looked around the room. He was looking for a specific person, Felic to be precise. He was doing this because he knew that he couldn't hide his emotions from the empath, and before Dain started, he wanted to be clear where his main obstacle will be.

[[Feel free to keep with Dain's mischief as you plan, FroD. I'm just going to get this plot rolling as should have been done awhile back.]]

"Good morning, students and staff. It is appreciated that you have chosen to attend this week's assembly. There are a few matters that will be discussed this morning. Firstly, I will assign the tasks that certain students must see to for the week starting tomorrow." Headmaster Kaio shifted his milk-white, pupil-less, gaze across those gathered in the auditorium. His small, needle-filled, mouth opened once more as he continued speaking, listing off many of the trouble-making students to do various chores such as cleaning dishes at the end of the school day or helping the janitor tidy up the classrooms and campus grounds. When there were no other trouble-makers to single out, he listed off what remained of the chores to be done by other, fairly better behaved, individuals.

For a moment, he allowed for the assignments to settle in, listening to the quiet grumbling of many who had been given chores. Finally, "Now, the first week of the school year has come to a finish and most of you have begun your companionship with your hatched dragons. It is your individual responsibilities to keep your companions out of trouble and you will be held accountable for any situation when they have broken any rules set for the school. This academy is intended to be an experience that helps you grow as adults and to understand the responsibilities of caring for another being, especially one that is not of the same species as you are. I trust that you will discover your strengths and weaknesses as individuals and likewise discover your potentials as united partners."

More shifting and more whispering but not too much in the form of grumbling. Some looked around, wondering if the assembly was done with but Kaio opened his mouth once more, indicating he still had things to discuss. "There is one last matter I wish to bring to your notice. Recently, some troubling events have occurred in the nearby town. Reports of missing or murdered individuals are cycling through the town and precautions are being placed. As such, student visitation will be limited, if not completely restricted. For now, students shall request visitation to the town and, if such request is approved, will be accompanied by a staff member. If any student, including dragon companions, are found to be violating this rule, a severe punishment will be issued. This regulation is being placed for the safety of each and every one of you. Until the matter has been resolved, we request that you take the danger into strict consideration."

Without even a blink, the Headmaster vanished, the heavy pressure suddenly lifted from within the room. The thick feeling of power dissipated and it no longer felt as if all the magic inherent in those present was being drawn to the pedestal. With Kaio's departure, a rumbling of conversation sprang up, the unexpected news certainly being a source of interest.

Gilrin

In Auditorium

"Now, now, let's settle down!" Gilrin announced, clapping her hands and trying to calm down the auditorium - in vain. She doubted that they even heard her over the ruckus, and she wasn't very fond of using wind magic and making her voice louder. After the suffocating presence of the Headmaster and all of his announcements, the students were too eager to discuss amongst themselves to even note that their Archery teacher was trying to restore order to the hall. Gilrin sighed a bit and let her arms fall down. The students would calm down after they had blabbered their fill. She, too, was slightly distressed by the news the headmaster had announced - especially the one about what is happening in the village. Gilrin had heard about these rumors earlier, but hadn't received a confirmation before now. Some of the teachers were obviously surprised by the news, speaking with lowered voices amongst themselves, some in pairs and some in groups. The students noticed this and the volume in their ruckus grew momentarily.

Gilrin couldn't hope but that the matter would be resolved quickly. Even if she wouldn't mind going to the town with students, she knew some of them were bound to escape the school area and inspect the case - she could almost hear the bets some students were making, daring each other to go. Gilrin hoped this was not truly what was happening, but better to be prepared for the worst. Also, the town was very popular amongst the students, so it would be expected that they would go there, even if it were forbidden. She sighed again and caused a gust of wind to circle her for the barest of moments, illuminating her swirling tattoos.

Dain looked around the auditorium from where he stood. The Headmaster had started to speak immediately after Dain stood, almost as if the Headmaster could sense the trouble that Dain was going to cause, and decided to stop it. Sadly, though it delayed him, the Headmaster did not stop Dain who couldn't help but utter the word 'fool' under his breath with a crooked smile. Dain made a low pitch whistle, something that though loud, wouldn't pierce people's ear drum and cause unwanted attention. It wasn't long for Luz, his dragon, to come down and land on Dain's outstretched arm.Luz, I need you to do me a favor. Go the the light switches and turn all of them off. Then, I need you to go pull the fire alarm. The wonderful thing about Luz was that with it being no larger than a medium sized bird, it wasn't spotted very often. It also made it easier to cause havoc among the student body. Though the fire alarm prank was an old prank, it still worked in complete black outs. As soon as Luz took off, Dain looked around for possible plan hindering trouble. The only problem he saw was the new teacher for archery. Dain made his way to her so that he could introduce himself. He has heard some interesting rumors about the teacher, and he was about to exploit them. "Hey teach! What are you doing this Friday? I wanted to go into town, but you heard the Headmaster." Dain waited until he was close to the teacher before continuing, "We can go drinking to if you want, after all you enjoy drinking right?" Dain let his eyes glance the teacher over, noting the lack of shoes and odd scarf size choice.

Luz Auditorium

Luz frowned at Dain's request. Yes she enjoyed a prank every now and then, but she couldn't help but think that this may be a bit to much considering the entire student body was there. Besides she was almost certain people were nervous about the situation in town. And there were students here that have never been to this school before. But nonetheless, Luz took off and headed to the switches through the ceiling rafters. When she made it to the light switches, Luz tried her best to turn of all of the switches at the same time, though she lost grip of one with sprung back into place before she puled it back down. She wasn't sure what exactly that would do, though she assumed that it just made the light flicker. As soon as the light turned off, Luz shot away, using her speed to get to the Fire alarm, and acrobatics to grab the alarm handle, and pull it while she flew, turning the fire alarm on. In this school, the fire alarm would turn on the sprinklers, a red high intensity strobe light and a siren in the 'wail' position.

"Hey teach! What are you doing this Friday? I wanted to go into town, but you heard the Headmaster. We can go drinking to if you want, after all you enjoy drinking right?"

Gilrin turned her eyes at the approaching student and flushed at the mention of her drinking.

"Heavens, it was only a small party and now I am seen as a drunkard. I must admit, though, it was some good mead there, and -- That's not my point," she sighed and ruffled her hair.

"Anyways, I expected that some students would want to go to the town so..." Gilrin shrugged and gave a good-humored smile. "I don't see any reason why, as long as you remember to behave yourselves! You better go and ask around if someone else wants to come, too. No reason to bother the other teachers -"

The lights turned off.

Immediately, some students started screaming and Girlin flinched. She didn't like the dark much and knew some students were absolutely terrified of it.

"Everyone calm down and we shall leave the auditorium in an orderly manner! Back row, you go fir-" she started, pointing at the doors, but was cut off.

Then the fire alarm started blaring and Gilrin couldn't think that it could've gone worse. Panic rippled though the students visibly.

'So much for orderly exiting,' she thought as the auditorium was filled with all sorts of yelling and screaming as students stood up and started running towards the exit, the alarm blaring. Her tattoos flared up as she summoned a small gust of wind, but distinguished it immediately. Wind only fed fire and using magic would serve no good here.

Luinor, dragon barracks

The massive blue dragon lifted its head as the fire alarm went off. A flicker of worry touched Luinor's mind as he realized all of the students and staff, including Gilrin, were inside the auditorium. He stood up and quickly flew towards the main building, trying to see what would've possibly caused the fire alarm to go off. Luinor smelled no smoke and saw no fire.

'Did someone mess around in the alchemy labs?' he thought, but dismissed the thought as he made his way to the auditorium. Luinor was a huge dragon, so he could rip a hole through the roof if it came to that - which he hoped it would not.

Dain, being the vampire he was, wasn't effected by the dark. It actually made it a bit easier for him to see and maneuver. He turned away from the teacher that he had distracted and calmly made his way through the running students. Some students were frozen in place, the unimaginable fear of the chance of being stuck in a burning pitch black building was probably to much for them. Dain had decided to attempt to keep a calm friendly smile, but it soon became impossible. His innocent smile grew to a mischievous grin. A thought passed through his mind at that time. It wasn't that long ago that the vampire race had been more than just the myth and creatures of legend that they are now. It wasn't even a decade ago that the vampire clan would be harvesting these students during this situation. These thoughts made him remember his clan, how strict they were, and how different he was from them. The clans had sent Dain to this school mainly out of spite, though his clan elder had actually done it for Dain's good. His elder wanted Dain to mature past the war bidden child of death to a normal life. Dain sat there among the blaring siren, flashing red lights, sprinklers, and screams of the students and began to wonder if this was a normal life.

Felic

Auditorium

Oh, this might not be good....

Someone was feeling a bit bored and then, suddenly, excited and mischievous. That was never a good sign. Usually, it meant tricks would be played. Felic briefly glanced around, not spotting much out of the ordinary while the Headmaster spoke. However, his focus was redirected when Kaio began to give some serious news about the town nearby. The Empath frowned, confusion entering his gaze. Many of those gathered also felt confused or shocked, the silent murmur of emotions only ever heard by someone like him.

With Kaio's departure, the students and teachers broke out into conversation, most speculating about the unfavorable news. Then, the lights went out, a few, brief, startled screams filling the auditorium. Felic gasped as the abrupt flow of fear swept across his mind, a small lump forming in his throat.

The alarm sounded next, adding the frosting to the cake.

As panic gripped the students in a sudden, crashing, wave, the Empath gave a strangled shout, jumping to his feet. He stumbled backwards, falling over his chair and collapsing to the ground in a tangled heap. Screams filled his ears and running footsteps danced across the tiled floor. But the sounds didn't fill his head. No. It was the strong emotions, the sudden change from a manageable rhythm to a torrential current.

Sola! A worried cry laced his thoughts and the touch of Sorge's mind brushed his.

Someone's foot caught him in the stomach and he gasped, curling into a ball.

"That's enough! Everyone! Get yer senses about ya!" Mr. Linole's voice boomed but, among all of the panic and the wailing fire alarms, he couldn't be heard or obeyed. The teachers were trying to usher students out as best they could but, in complete darkness with only a few flashing lights, it was almost in vain.

Felic trembled, hands grasping his head as he remained curled up, practically tangled around the chair he formerly sat in. Some students tripped over him and the chair or stepped on him in their rush.

Felic, I'm coming!

Sorge. Where was Sorge? Where was the ground that should have rested beneath his feet?

Hold on, Felic!

Too much panic. Too much fear....

Bandage-covered hands slapped against the tile flooring, shoving him back onto his feet. "Stop!"

His scream mingled with what remained, rising above a portion of them. At the same instance, his arms swept outwards to the sides, fingers spread. The blood in his veins boiled as a sensation of tightened around his fingertips. Students froze in place, their panic rising further as they found themselves unable to move, their blood under the Empath's control. Whoever wasn't caught made themselves scarce, emptying the auditorium of everyone but Felic and those he kept in place.
