((0023567467, I'm afraid I'm not sure...

Here's the sheet for my second character. Sorry it took so long, but was having trouble deciding between Human or Dwarf.))

User- Starphyre77

Name- Cuthraed

Age- 27

Gender- Male

Race- Man from Rohan

Appearance- Like most of the Rohirrim, Cuthraed is tall and stands at 6ft 1in (1.85 m). His beard and long hair would best be described as dirty blonde and his eyes are dark blue. ((Will try to come up with an image))

Skill set- Horse riding (of course), fighting with sword, spear and short bow both on foot and on horseback. However, the Rohirrim bows are not very powerful, and have “an effective range of about 125 yards” (114.3 m).

Other- Cuthraed is confident and a bold which can make him sometimes seem a little cocky. He joined the Muster of Edoras as soon as he was old enough, and worked his way up to become one of the King’s Riders. However, a recent encounter has left him feeling that he has something to prove, and with permission, he has set out to do so.

((ETA: Slight change in appearance))

((*has been busy* I'll post hopefully tonight with an actual post... family stuffs going on and school homework that I just got doesn't help.

0023567467: I do think an elf spot may be open. There was one open to begin with, and then another opened up when Chibi left. So, go ahead and make one.

Starphyre: I say your character is accepted. If DS has any say, then we'll see if she ever gets back wink.gif but I'd say it's accepted.))

((Ummm…Long intro post is long… blink.gif ))

Cuthraed had been tracking his quarry for several days now. He had briefly lost the trail when it entered the Entwood, but after a little searching, he picked it up again where it exited the woods…with more tracks joining it. He continued following the trail along the edge of the forest, though as he crossed the northern border of Rohan, he had paused for a moment at the thought that should trouble come up, there would be no allies near enough to come to his aid. Shrugging it off as something to deal should the need arise, he had continued on his way.

When he came to where the trail left the forest edge, he was about to follow, but something caught his attention further still along the wood, and making note of where the track was, he went to investigate. What he found was the remnants of a fight, and judging by the looks of the corpses and the lack of any carrion eaters yet, he could tell that whatever had happened there had happened relatively recently.

Turning his spear down, he thrust the tip into the ground so the shaft stood tall beside his grey horse, Garulf. He then dismounted and drew his sword, and remaining alert, he cautiously examined the area. In his search, he found that all of the dead were Goblins and Wargs, and he also found the tracks that he’d been following. Paying closer attention to the tracks, he noticed that while some led north, others led back into the forest. “Interesting,” he said to himself as his gaze swept the area once more before mounting Garulf again, and taking up his spear, he set off.

Since the track he had originally been following was one that went north, that was the set he chose to resume following. Spurred on by the fact that his quarry didn’t seem to be too far ahead of him, he urged his horse into a gallop, and after a while, he was able to make out the forms in the distance. He continued his pace for a little longer, but didn’t want to appear to be attacking, so he slowed to a trot while turning his spear so the end was forward rather than the head.

He slowed even more as he continued his approach, and when he was near enough, he held up one hand and called, “Hail, and well met.” Nearing a little more, he came to a halt before them and once again thrust his spear into the ground as he dismounted. Taking a step away from Garulf, he stood where all could see him. He didn’t like leaving himself exposed like that, but he knew that he was the stranger here, so he would have to declare himself first. Since his helm concealed almost all but his beard and eyes, he removed the helm to reveal his face, and upon his stern features could be seen a nearly healed bruise near his right eye. “I am Cuthr-“ he started, but then he held his hands up in front of him as he quickly said, “Hold, please!”

~~~~
Once becoming aware of the Man’s approach, Shala stopped with the others as they waited to see what he was about. When the Elves were able to identify him as being from Rohan, she found it odd that he would be so far from his lands, but she kept that thought to herself. However, when he hailed them, there was something about his voice that had her slightly tensing with suspicion. He then removed his helm, and she realized that she knew this Man, and didn’t exactly like him. Her eyes narrowed in anger as she reached for her sword, but when he asked her to hold, she did stop…though her hand was still ready to draw.
“I am not here to fight you,” Cuthraed said, “I have come to prove that I am, in fact, not part of the problem with the world.” At that, Shala scoffed, so he added, “…and to seek your pardon. In truth, I did not realize you are a woman. Had I but known, I swear I would have never… Not even in the haze of drink would I have attempted to fight with a woman…” He gently touched his eye, “Especially not one who can hit so hard.”
Though her eyes still burned with anger and suspicion, Shala gave a slightly wry grin as she relaxed her stance and crossed her arms over her chest, so Cuthraed continued, “As I was saying, I am Cuthraed son of Cuthred, and with your, and your companions’ permission, I would join you on your journey, so that you may see the true worth of the Men of the Mark.”
With a raised eyebrow, Shala considered him and his request for a long moment, and she wasn’t quite sure what to think of him. On the one hand, he had been insufferably rude to her when they first met, but on the other hand, he had gone rather out of his way to attempt to make amends. Still, he shouldn’t have spoken to her like that, but to be fair, she had to admit that she was dressed much like a Dwarf man… With a sound that was half chuckle-half sigh and a small shake of her head, she turned a questioning look to the others as she shrugged to indicate it was fine with her so it would be up to them.
((My sig stated I was away, well not posting, for the week. this may continue seeing as school is starting soon and I've got homework to get done... (that I just got a week ago... thanks teacher...) ))
Larien answered Shala's question with slight paused. "My family used to be from Lothlorien... I moved to Rivendell shortly after our kind was beginning to have trouble. Ironically, I haven't heard word from them since, nor have I visited." She stated, wondering if anyone still might be there. It seemed very possible. "I would imagine there would still be some Elves there." She added just in case.
Larien soon became aware of the Man's approach but waited it out to see if he would simply leave. Once that hadn't happened, she took a bit more interest and helped identify him as from Rohan. She found it rather odd for a Man to be out here, following them, and not seeming too concerned on possibly being shot. She had gotten her bow ready just in case as he moved closer. An arrow was trained on him the whole time and nearly loosed when Shala went to attack him. When she held, Larien also held her arrow at the draw, watching closely with the realization that these two knew each other.
The Elf relaxed slightly and listened to try and make sense of the situation. When he asked to join their party, Larien was most surprised. Not specifically by his request, but by Shala who had seemed the most offended. The Dwarf now seemed to not care.
But Larien didn't know this Man, and didn't particularly like the recent near-altercation that obviously had loose ends to deal with. But Shala was giving him a chance. Her bow was drawn once more, the arrow aimed and let loose in an instant. It sailed near the Man's head, missing by a few hairs to account for possible movement to avoid it, and landing far away from where they were, deeply stuck into the ground. "That won't miss if you do happen to try anything during your stay with our group." That was probably as close as an acceptance that Larien would give. She didn't trust the Man completely, but if Shala was willing to give him a chance then she couldn't rightfully turn him away.
((Dragonsword, while it is entirely your choice, part of me hopes you’ll choose a male Dwarf; someone to wonder why in Durin’s name a Dwarf woman is traveling alone, let alone out adventuring wink.gif. In fact, if you or indeed anyone else is interested, Shala’s as yet unposted history has room for an unknown cousin. Anyone can feel free to PM me if interested in exploring that possibility. ))
Shala was so surprised when Larien fired an arrow toward the Man, that she gave a burst of laughter, but then quickly sobered as she said, “Hold please, the incident between the lad and I was little more than a brief tavern brawl where some manners needed to be taught, and it would seem that my words stung more than my fists.” She glanced to Cuthraed with a thoughtful look, and then turned back to Larien. “I apologize if my actions made it seem more serious than that. My caution was simply in case he had come to settle the score, but since that does not seem to be his intent, I say let us see what he has learned. However,” her expression hardened as she looked back to him, “if the need should arise, I will not hesitate to give another lesson.”
When the Elf shot an arrow, Cuthraed instinctively reached for his sword, but managed to stop himself before drawing. Bringing his hand back to his side as the Dwarf spoke, he was a little irked by her comment about being taught manners, but then he realized that he really couldn’t argue with the statement, so he only gave a slight nod when she first glanced to him. “Agreed,” he said calmly when she spoke to him. “It is true that your words cut deep and could not remain unanswered for… I give you my word that my intentions are honorable. May I know your names?”
Shala’s look softened as she said, “I am Shala daughter of Baergor.” She felt that it wasn’t for her to give the others’ names, so she left it up to them.
Larien relaxed once Shala said the Man was alright. Now that she knew a bit more of the story, she seemed to be ok with him around. "Larien Arcamenel." She told Cuthraed, bowing slightly as her introduction and acceptance. It wasn't necessarily something one would see from an Elf, but Larien had taken to it as a show of respect and it had caught on to a few other Elves before she had left Rivendell. Even in Lothlorien before she left there. "I apologize for my actions, though I do restate that the arrow will not miss if given reason." She also added, reiterating that known fact just in case it hadn't been made clear.
((Yay another Dwarf! In order to bring Fier and Dio into the mix, would anyone mind if we have another skirmish with some Goblins? Was thinking that this time Shala coult reclaim Thorin’s sword Deathless and insist that it needs to be repaired by Drwarven hands. Cuthraed conveniently knows of a village of Men located to the east between Fangorn and Lothlorien, and it may have a Dwarven smith wink.gif. Any thoughts, comments, or suggestions?))
Cuthraed returned Larien’s show of respect by giving an incline of his head as he kindly said, “Think nothing of it. However,” he added as his tone turned matter-of-fact, “please understand that just as I am unknown to you, you are unknown to me… Should the need arise, I shall defend myself as necessary.” He recognized that the Elf’s words weren’t a threat, and so he didn’t intend his as a threat either.
((Hmmm...What do we think?))
With that seemingly settled, Cuthraed turned to the others to learn their names as well as the purpose if their journey, but just then he noticed movement behind Shala. “Down!” he yelled as he drew his sword. The warning was just in time, for Shala dropped just as a Warg launched itself at her which caused it to just miss her. As the Warg landed clumsily, Cuthraed rushed in and dispatched it. He was going to ask the Dwarf if she was injured, but she was already back on her feet and facing an incoming Warg-rider. He only had a brief moment to silently curse the fact that these foul beasts managed to get so close, and then he was dealing with another Warg attacking from the side.
Shala didn’t hesitate to drop to the ground when Cuthread yelled, and she could feel the air movement from the Warg above her. As she stood up again, she Cuthread attack the Warg, so she turned to face whatever else was there. Seeing another Warg-rider bearing down on her, she threw her axe to fell the beast which caused both Warg and Goblin to tumble. Quickly drawing her sword as the Goblin scrambled to his feet, she was ready for the fight, but then she recognized the sword that he wielded, and the look on her face went from fierce to enraged as she snarled, “You dare?!” The Goblin just sneered as he brought the sword to attack.
However, while he’d had some time to get used to the Dwarven weapon, it was clear to her that he wasn’t wielding it to its strongest advantage. She easily blocked the attack and countered with an attack which he only just managed to dodge to keep his head. His sneer turned to a snarl of his own, and they engaged in a flurry of attacks. She was able to dodge or block most of his attacks, but he did get in a lucky strike on her side. While the wound wasn’t immediately life threatening, it could be problematic later, but she had too much adrenaline coursing through her veins to notice which caused the Goblin to take off running. “Baruk Khazâd!” Shala called as in her blind rage, she gave chase “Khazâd ai-mênu!” It may not have been the best move, but she wasn’t exactly thinking clearly.
She easily caught up with the Goblin, and they fought again until she disarmed him…literally. As he was reeling from that blow, she took up the sword he had dropped and plunged it through his heart. Sheathing her own sword, she quickly went back; ready to use this sword in what was left of the fight.
(well you know I like the idea, I'm just waiting for DH's opinion )
Dae had been silent as they walked and he casually watched as a human man walked over, though curiosity sparked in his eye since he hadn't been able to meet very many humans personally... in fact he had never met one, though he had seen them before. he watched the man and watched as the others tensed, ready to attack, then slowly relaxed again, not really listening to what was being said until the man asked for their names.
The young elf let the others answer then he opened his mouth to answer but everyone just kind of started talking, that is until the man shouted "get down!' and something huge and horrid smelling shor past Dae, knocking off his ragged, wide brimmed hat. he stood there in surprise, watching the thing attack the others before he heard a soft growl behind him and he slowly turned to find another beast with its rider sneering at him. Dae stood there a second more before he suddenly threw down his pack and not so gracefully dived to the side as the thing lunged at him. the elf narrowed his eyes, his mind focusing on the battle at hand as he swiftly rolled to his feet and grabbed some throwing knives at the beast.... which dodged at the last minuet though the knives did hit its rider.
Dae gave a shrug and smiled. "eh, close enough" he said before his smile faded and his pointed ears twitched back a bit as the beast-thing turned toward him,rage in it's eyes. the elf stared at it then he slowly backed up, reaching behind him for his bow as the thing stalked slowly towards him, it growls gradually growing.
in a town not so far off a young girl dressed as a boy sat perched on the black smith's roof. she leaned over to peer into the big main doors of the work shop and her wide silver-gray eyes stared at the golden haired dwarf standing there, but it was not who she wanted to see.
"is Fier here?" she called, making the old dwarf start and turn to her with a startled look. he stared up at her then huffed.
"nay, he went off early to get some supplies from town... now get down her child before you hurt yourself" he said gruffly and the girl giggled before she gripped the roof and swung down, hanging in the air until she lightly dropped down onto some barrel, yelping as they wobbled and almost fell, making the dwarf sigh and walk over, holding up a hand to help her down. "I swear Dio, your mischief will be the death of you some day" he said but she just hopped down and kissed him on the cheek. despite her being still only a child she was already taller then the dwarf and he glared up at her. "won't ye stop growing lass?' he asked and she pouted at him. "no, I just need to get taller then silly old Fier now" she said before suddenly grinning and running off, most likely to make some trouble in the town, as usual.
Noticing that the Warg he faced was still gearing up to attack, Cuthraed took the opportunity to sheath his sword as he took up his spear, and shouting a quick command for Garulf to get out of the fight area, he brought the spear to bear on the now charging Warg. With the length and heft of the spear, he was easily able to take down the Warg, and briefly surveying the fight, he saw the Elf man seemed to be in a bit of a tight spot. With a shout, he launched his spear at the Warg that was closing in on said Elf, but unfortunately, he wasn’t able to watch to see if the spear found its target as he had to quickly draw his sword again to fend off yet another Warg, but he hoped that even if he did miss, it would distract the Warg enough for the Elf to be able to get a shot off.
As he fought, he was momentarily distracted when Shala started to yell something he didn’t understand, and sparing a brief glance in her direction, he was both surprised and confused to see her chasing after a Goblin. Realizing that he had taken his attention from the fight for too long, he randomly dodged to one side. He didn’t know if the move had been necessary, but he knew it was better than standing where he had been. As he rolled back to his feet, he checked for any immediate threats and then he tried to locate the Goblins. Figuring that if they could get rid of the Goblins, then the Wargs might break off, he shouted a challenge to the nearest Warg-rider.
Being the well trained horse that he was, Garulf not only heeded his master’s command, but he also went to the near panicking pony, and somehow managed to lead her out of the fight as well. Of course, he went only as far as was necessary, and then watched for an opportunity to have a go at the Wargs.
The reason I didn't respond when I first saw these posts was due to school homework still being frantically finished, school starting, marching band and being preoccupied with registering for tests and collage visits.))
Larien dodged the Warg as it dove to attack Shala, not needing Cuthraed's warning to get away. She ran off a little ways, her horse already delving into an attacking with another Warg, to get a better shot at two Warg-Riders who pinned their sights on her. She fired off two arrows at once, one meeting it's target dead-on, and the other being deflected by a small makeshift shield the Goblin held.
The Elf readied another arrow as the Warg charged faster toward her with the Goblin's command. She fired, the arrow flying true and embedding itself into the Goblin's left shoulder, as the Goblin urged his Warg onward. She had hoped that would stop it, or at least slow it, but that obviously was too much to hope for.
Larien side-stepped at the last moment to avoid a head-on crash with the Warg but still went down with it. She jabbed an arrow into it's side as the Goblin jumped off, allowing the Warg to try and pin her. She didn't take lightly to being pinned, to which she responded with another forceful jab of an arrow-head, and kicked at its underside with her free legs.
One kick seemed to knock the Warg to the side slightly, but the beast refused to release her left wrist which it now held in its jaws. The Goblin had discarded the shield, sneering and laughing as Larien kicked the Warg again. He now held a crude sword in his hands as he readied to end her.
But Larien's horse wasn't dumb, nor was he going to let a Goblin kill his companion. He had rushed over when he noticed the Warg charging her, having dispatched the one he was fighting with a few good kicks to the head. He was hurt, having a nice gash to his side, but the trained Elven horse was too stubborn to stop fighting and give up- more times to Larien's distaste when things got very bad. Right now though, he was welcomed.
Larien's horse charged, making as much odd noise as possible to distract anything trying to attack his companion, at the Goblin. He didn't stop either once he got close, though the Goblin didn't seem worried about the horse at all. With good reason; two wargs were waiting nearby to attack. They did so by ambush, pouncing onto the horse from the sides as the horse continued to run at the Goblin. They collided, messily, into a heap of kicking and various sounds.
Luckly for Larien, the impact of the collision knocked the Warg on top of her enough to give her a split advantage of a kick to the neck. But as that Warg died, she became caught up in the mess of Warg, Goblin and horse fighting right next to her.
Facing the charging Goblin, Cuthraed didn’t notice the Warg circling around behind him. Garulf however, did notice it, and orders or not, he wasn’t going to stand by and let the Warg harm his master. Unlike Larien’s horse, he made no noise other than the sound of his hooves on the ground as he charged in. Just as he reached the Warg, he reared up as he let out a loud neigh which both startled the Warg off his attack, and alerted Cuthraed to the danger.
The horse slowed slightly as he went to his master, and after a running mount, Cuthraed gave a small grin as he thought, this is better. With a light hand on the reigns, he drew his bow while weaving through the enemy and with long practiced aim he easily shot the Goblin and his Warg while a well placed kick from Garulf ended the other Warg. Keeping on the move, Cuthraed brought his bow to bear on the sound of fighting, but the chaos surrounding Larien made it unsafe to loose an arrow. Circling the tangle, he shot another Warg that was making to join in as he watched for an opportunity use his bow to help the Elf. Though it would be a great risk, if no opening presented itself soon, he would dismount and try to engage with his sword.
Once Clover was out of the fighting, she turned as Garulf to watch the fight, but when the horse charged back in, she stayed where she was. She hadn’t been trained to fight, so it was a little surprising that she hadn’t bolted…yet. If anyone were to really look at her though, they would be able to tell that she was tensed and ready to run if necessary. Unfortunately, at about the time that Garulf and Cuthraed started circling, a Warg broke off and noticed the unprotected pony. She was just about to run, but then Shala returned, and noticing the Warg stalking Clover, she gave a savage yell as she rushed in and cut it down.
“Easy girl,” Shala said with a brief glance to the pony, but then she quickly turned again to the fight. Fueled by rage and indignation, she was ready to take them all on with little regard for her own safety. For thirty years the Dwraven sword had been used for evil, so it would take more than two to remove its taint. In fact, it would most probably take more than were here… Focusing on the nearest fighting, she charged in as she once again called, “Khazâd ai-mênu!” The unfortunate Warg that tried to ambush her all but lost its head as she barely faltered to slay it in mid-leap.
((By the by, “Baruk Khazâd! Khazâd ai-mênu!” means “Axes of the Dwarves! The Dwarves are upon you!”, and it is a well known Dwarven battle cry. In case anyone’s wondering. smile.gif ))
((*has best intentions of posting* *gets whisked away by modding duty and life*
Alright... so Soleas, do give me a moment to tally up what we currently have in comparison to what it shows on the orginal post, and I'll see if we can accept your sheet.
I'll also whip up something to post after I correct what needs correcting on the original post. ....might even add a character section if I can find my computer... makes tallies much easier and referals that much swifter
Current totals:
Elf: 3 (last spot reserved for now)
Dwarf: 2
Man: 3
Hobbit: 0
Out of fairness, 0023567467, had asked on page 12 if the last elf slot was open. Since they had, I have now pm'd them if they still plan on making a sheet for that slot. Until that pm is answered either as yes or no, the slot is going to be considered reserved....
which means....
Soleas, as of right now (Sept 17, at 3:02pm EST) your sheet cannot be accepted due to the species you wish to be being filled.
I'm sorry about that.
In case any of you were wondering what I did to get these tallies:
I went through, each and every page, and counted whose sheet was what. I skipped Chic's, and Techno's since they both said they were leaving. I left Elpdraws and Ryujin in the tally since they said they would be back (and I've messaged them again on this matter, so until I get a no from them, that's not going to change- not that they'll say no, just, if they do then I'll open the spots up that they took). I counted the character sheets that we made extra of (the dwarf and two men slots) and then added those together. Since there's supposed to be four of each, that should mean the new edit of the front page will reflect this tally.))
