Doctor Who

Doctor Who: The continuing adventures of one alien as he time-travels through the universe, saving planets, defeating evil, and running for his life. There's an outrageous amount of running involved.

For those who don't know, those are the 11 Doctors. And yes, they're all the same character. (Handy little trick, changing your form. wink.gif )

So....favourite episodes? Favourite companion? Favourite Doctors?

(Note- this is slightly different to Rhea's topic, since it discusses the show as a whole, not just Matt Smith and his new series).

Fav eps: Blink, Silence in the Library/Forest of the Dead, Turn Left, Time of Angels/Flesh and Stone (see my signature), The Pandorica Opens/The Big Bang.

Fav comp: Amy Pond (I would do so many naughty things to her), Sarah-Jane Smith

Fav Doc: Matt Smith. To heck with all the Tennant die-hards, Matt Smith has portrayed a brilliant Doctor. Dark, angry, massively eccentric...he rocks. Hard.

Awesome pictures. xd.png Sonic Screwdriver stylus is especially awesome (although, I prefer the older one).

And yes, I know....but I felt it would be more handy to mods about the difference between the current ones.

My overall favorite Doctor is Tom Baker and Sarah Jane Smith is my favorite companion. For the "newer" Doctor it is David Tennant and Rose and Donna are my favorite companions.

Well, I guess I better give my favourites (I haven't had time to find anything but clips on older Who on youtube, so all new series for me).

Favourite Episodes: Human Nature/Family of Blood, Blink, Smith and Jones, Stolen Earth/Journey's End.

Favourite Companions: Martha and Donna. Martha was smart and intelligent, and Donna's chemistry with Tennant was excellent.

Doctor: I have trouble choosing. They all bring in something...Eccleston was more subdued than the other two, which suited him, and did make him seem like someone just out of a war. Tennant played a witty Doctor, filled with manic energy. To me, Smith is doing a brilliant job. He reminds me an absent minded professor- except when he becomes dark and edgy, which is awesome.

I grew up watching the "old" Doctor Who shows on PBS. I think one of the reasons I like Tom Baker so much was he was the first Doctor I ever saw (I later saw the episodes with the first 3).

I had a hard time choosing between Eccleston and Tennant because I did enjoy Eccleston as the Doctor. I wish he had done more than one season.

I still don't care much for Matt Smith or Amy Pond but eventually they will probably "grow on me" and I'll begin to like them better.

I'm fairly new to Dr. Who, and have only watched the newest serial. I've not even watched season 5 yet.

Fav. Episodes: The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances, The Impossible Planet/The Satan Pit, Silence in the Library/Forest of the Dead, Blink. I also liked Planet of the Dead, Water of Mars, and The Girl in the Fireplace.

Fav. Companion: Donna and Rose; I wasn't fond of Martha much.

Fav: Doctor: David Tennant <3 I do wish that Eccleston had had more time to act as the Doctor, as I thought he was doing pretty well.

HOLY CARP I LOVE THIS SHOW.

But right in the middle of the series I was watching, the Netflix-on-your-gaming-system thing...it decided "I'M GOING TO DELETE THIS NAO KTHNKSBAI" and now I can't watch it >.<

Well...I could find somewhere online to watch it...but yeah.

This is my new favorite show. For the last month or so, I've been watching. I'm halfway through the (new) fourth season now. When I've finished with the new series, I'll do my best to find the older episodes online.

I really, really liked Eccleston as the Doctor, but... David Tennant is spectacular. And Rose is my all-time favorite companion, but both Donna and Martha were pretty awesome too.

I've only seen the new ones so I can only compare from those.

My favorite Doctor is definitely David Tennant, and not just cause he's the best looking, but because he makes me laugh a lot more than the others do.

Favorite companion is probably Martha, not really sure why though.

My all time favorite episode is definitely The Shakespeare Code. The episode was pretty awesome in general, but all the Harry Potter references in it just cracked me up so much!

My second favorite episode is probably the last one from season 4 though I can't remember the name of it at the moment. Anyway that whole Doctor/Donna thing was just spectacular.

ETA: Oh and here are a few Doctor Who icons that I wanted to share just cause they made me laugh.

I started watching from the 9th Doctor onwards, and I've so far reached episode 10 of season 4, so the only Doctors I've 'met up' with until now are Eccleston and Tennant. And even though I admit I have a weak spot for David (after also seeing Casanova and other productions he participated in), Christopher will always be my 'first', so to speak (yes, I am aware of how that sounds). I think both of them did a brilliant job and I'm looking forward to seeing Matt Smith act.

Favorite episodes. Well, any episode that comes in two parts is usually brilliant. Why? Because the action is ongoing, the plot makes you wish you were there (even with the risk of dying) and the characters (both good and bad) are extremely well developed. Favorite companions - definitely Donna. There's something about her irony at times that makes me laugh with tears.

Oh, and I must mention this - episode 7 of season 4, 'The Unicorn and the Wasp', was pretty ridiculous in my opinion.

I enjoyed the cyanide poisoning scene, but I didn't like the "year five billion" thing at the end.

Not a fan of AC so I was probably missing a few references in the episode.

I'm currently watching the episode called "42". It has David Tennant and Martha as the companion so I'm rather enjoying it.

So...I've been having an ongoing argument with a friend of mine, about the Doctor. What alignment is he?

I personally think that he's Chaotic Good(-ish). Yes, he's done some stupid and self-centered things, but for the most part, I think he just wants to help people. My friend, however, maintains that he's Chaotic Neutral.

(For those who don't know about alignments, see this TVtropes page: http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main...racterAlignment )

I think my first instinct would be to say that he's probably Chaotic Good as well. I think there are times when he might fit Chaotic Neutral, but he's certainly not neutral all the time.

I dunno. 'Lawful' implies he goes by a set of rules of some sort, and he does. Then again, he does go by his own rules.

But certainly Good. Not Neutral, but Good.

Favourite episodes?: Planet of Giants, War of the worlds, All Master episodes from 3rd and Horror of Fang Rock.

Favourite companion? Leela and Jamie.

Favourite Doctors? First and 4th.

Best series ever. I follow the new series regularly too but I love the original one. The stories can be so good even if the settings are so simple!

I'll admit they're cute - esp. the one in the bar with Harkness for the last bit of 'End of Time.'

Anyone watch 'Dr Who at the Proms?'

I do think the little adipose guys are cute. smile.gif Never watched "Dr Who at the Proms". There is a mini-marathon of Doctor Who on BBCAmerica today - right now on of the Master episodes is on.
