More Indications for Alt Custom Breed Sort

Recommended Posts

This is a collection of several small things I think would make custom sorting better. Some of these may have been suggested elsewhere, but I consider this a collection.

1. Showing Gender. Yeah, there are certain breeds with dimorphism, but those that don't are hard to sort by gender, unless you have very indicitave names for them. No names, or gender neutral names are hard to remember who is what, especially if you are sorting a lot.

2. Show Zombies, no matter the time. Note this only applies to during sorting, but now with so many different types, it is more than a bit of a pain to wait until they are visible to sort them. Otherwise, you are just taking a stab in the dark as to what type a zombie is.

3. Show hatching stages. This is minor, but I like to sort my eggs by age, and when I have multiples of a certain egg, I can't always remember which one is cracking, particularly if I have been messing around with them.

Anything else anyone would like to see added, feel free to suggest it. Keep in mind, this is regarding Custom Sort only.

I don't really see the point of the cracking sequences. Eggs tend to go from one to the next so quickly that you'd be moving them around constantly, which seems rather silly.

Gender would be helpful.

Zombies, sigh, didn't need this before we added all the new sprites. but now I supposed it would be rather more helpful.

It is not sorting by the cracking, it is telling age. For example, if I have two green eggs, one is near hatching, and the other is midway, I want to make sure the one that is about to hatch is near the bottom of the eggs. If the older one is cracking, and the other isn't, I know it is the older egg, and I can sort it as such. I wouldn't be moving them around as they cracked, just an easy way to tell which one is older without memorizing codes.

I agree with the first suggestion, especially since I use the tile "multi-select & drop" method of sorting. A tiny gender indicator in the tile would be fantastic. I have to use the original sorting method to sort genders of breeds that don't have dimorphism and I hate that way of sorting. :/

I definitely agree with the idea of showing zombies during sorting. Not everyone can be awake during the time zombies are showing, or on the other hand maybe they have to be at work during that time and can't be playing online games. Either way, it would be nice if they showed what type they were in the sorting page.

I wonder how hard that would be to code...

Two more things regarding sorting we should have:

When doing custom sort, clicking "Place Eggs and Unfrozen Hatchlings on top" should be permanent and not need to be re-clicked every time. It should automatically be re-done every time you click save on custom sort.

I also think that "Place Eggs and Unfrozen Hatchlings on top" should automatically sort them by time. Or make it a separate button that people can click every time after they use incubate. Right now I sort my eggs and hatchlings on my own but I would kill for being able to have them automatically sort themselves by tod, so long as 5 day hatchlings didn't mix in with 5 day eggs like on the AP.

Gender should definitely be something that shows up when doing custom sort. Or even make it toggle-able. Don't care so long as there's an option for it somewhere.

THIS, so VERY this !

It's probably because that setting is designed to be used with the automatic sorts. Custom sort you place your eggs where you want them, automatic sorts you need to tell the system where you want them.

Sure - but who sorts their eggs - I just want them to stay at the top until cooked, like.

I sort mine. x3 I'm doing different things to different eggs, and I sort them so I don't lose track. But the eggs go basically to the top on my scroll even though I don't have that checked.

Unless I'm misinterpreting the request, gender does appear...and has for a long time...?

I would also like the ability to partial custom sort. Please do correct me if this is already a possibility because I couldn't achieve it through any of the custom sorts so far. But say.. I want to bring up certain dragons to top like my GoNs, leetle and NDs, and keep the rest of the scroll breed sort. If I do it using any of the custom sorts, the scroll stops auto updating the new adults and I've to manually drag them to their positions. Right now I'm using alternate custom sort and manually arrange every adult that grows up on my scroll otherwise they all end up on top of my scroll.

I think they're talking about alt custom. Gender is displayed in custom and legacy custom, but not in alt custom.

I'd like a gender indicator for alt custom; the little symbol could appear after the name or something.

I would like there to be a gender indicator in alt custom sort as well, but also a box that I can select to place all my eggs and growing hatchlings at the top of my scroll. So after I've clicked sort by breed I don't have to go through my scroll to find my eggs and growing hatchlings to organize them again. I would also like the ability to select more then one dragon to move at a time. Moving one dragon at a time gets a bit annoying after a while.

I'm down for all of these--it's always a pain having to check which gender a nondimorphic one is back on my cave page because I forgot while sorting. The zombie thing would be super useful too. And I don't need the egg bit but it can't hurt either. smile.gif

Yeah, I meant the alt custom sort. I have been using the alt custom sort for so long, I forgot the regular custom sort existed(I did remember legacy though). I have over 5k dragons, using the regular custom sort would be very difficult.

I use alt custom sort, too, and it would be nice to have some sort of gender indicator. I usually name my dragons with gender specific patterns, but there are exceptions. When I'm sorting those, right now I have to keep my scroll open in another tab so I can check them.

This, OMG, this. I've been using the custom sort since the beginning, and I move my dragons around quite a bit. I can't begin to explain how difficult it is to sort the non-diamorphus dragons into place. A gender indicator would save me hours!

Long names tend to overlap other names though on alt sort- maybe in the bottom right corner of the image?

Well that's pretty much an intentional tradeoff you get for using a more dense method of listing your dragons—less information is visible, but more dragons can fit on the screen.

Only enough space is reserved for your longest name, so you can't reliably add more after the name without spacing things out even more.

You can't add a gender symbol overlay on a corner of the image? Or next to the image, for that matter. There isn't any room where the names are, for sure, but there's plenty of room between the images.

Support for all 3, Zombies especially as there is NO way to tell what type they are and they show for an incredibly short time, mostly when plenty of US and even Europe people can't really sit there playing a game:(

as for Zombies it's also a bummer they're so hard to make yet are visible for mere 6h when e.g. I'm asleep (or, if not, then I'm during classes since it's night-morning for me when I'd not use computer, and especially for a game) so you can't even admire them really... Even DC time if you have to wake up in the morning for school/work (which is probably the default way in US too? or not?), you may need to go to sleep before midnight... or very soon after or you'll be having not enough sleep. 6 more hours would be an improvement here, even though they'd still would be more unseen than seen.

BTW is there any suggestion already for extended Zombie showing time? (it's such a mior thing to implement but well... probably needs one)

(search doesn't work for me, I don't get results even for threads I KNOW that are there, sometimes it's much easier to get them using Google instead - if you more or less remember the title...)
