AP: 1 line of non-Holiday during Holidays

Recommended Posts

I thought there was a suggestion like this before, but.... Can't seem to find it.

Suggestion:

Add 1 extra line of eggs during holidays, which is always non-Holiday.

Reasons:

- Not everyone wants to participate in the Holiday

- Eggs behind the holiday walls loose time and die, even though there are people who'd like them

Mechanics can be either add an extra line or two, or re-task the last line of the AP.

Some users have mocked up what both scenarios would look like:

replacing the last row by regular eggs, made by myself:

adding a 6th row for regular eggs, made by Jazeki:

Cheers!

This suggestion isn't half bad. It doesn't really hurt anyone, as there are still several lines "reserved" for holiday eggs, yet gives players more options. It doesn't even need to be opt-in, either. Just how badly is it really needed?

Tentative support.

No support. The holidays are the only time that the eggs are produced, it doesn't cost nothing to wait some days to keep hunting cave blockers until the holiday breeding ends.

While I do really enjoy hunting for holidays now that the limits for non-CBs are gone, and I tend not to have any space for anything else, I like this idea. It sounds like it'd be a huge help for the people who want to hunt for something other than holidays. happy.gif

Support from me. (: Especially towards the end of holidays and each year even more there are more and more eggs bred each holiday, so the "blocking" of the AP is more and more a topic.

It may not hurt people to wait some more days, but it does hurt eggs in case they die (of course they have no feelings, but people who bred them for others to enjoy might), and the AP has enough places to give a line to non-holidays, in my opinion.

I would like this. During the past few holidays I've found myself wishing I could find something *other* than Holidays on the AP - which would probably be incuhatchable anyway.

Sock mentioned this in the thread on removing the extra day that is added to dragons in the AP. I support this suggestion. While I usually don't pick up non-holidays until the very end of the breeding, this does give users a chance to pick up something other than holidays and it could possibly lower the possibility of eggs dying because they are trapped behind holidays.

Support - it keeps the poor eggs in the backlog behind the holiday wall from dying smile.gif

Besides, hunting can become boring during holidays, so if one line shows non-priority eggs from the backlog and the rest holidays, it doesn't hurt anyone, but helps those of us who don't hoard holidays but would like to adopt some commons smile.gif

I think I'd support this. During holidays, the time on all the other eggs drops, which means they'd be incuhatchable and would only take up scroll space for a little while as they get accelerated views. You could build up your hatchlings while also grabbing valentines/other holidays.

I wouldn't mind having 14 hatchlings while hunting for holidays, especially if the hatchlings are holiday test breedings from the week before. This is the best way to get mates imo.

The only thing I'd see this being a problem is the fact that you can hatch eggs in 2 days and hatchlings have to go through 3 days, but that's only waiting a day.

So... stock up on 14 hatchlings and 7 eggs the first day of breeding, wait three days, have hatchlings grow up and eggs hatch, do it again, and by the holiday in question they should be hatched/grown up again. And you only need to save two slots for the holidays so you can still grab more eggs.

With a gold scroll, you can end up with 28 hatchlings, 19 eggs that also hatch, plus the two holidays. Not bad.

I definitely support this - it's actually something I've thought about suggesting myself! While holidays are fun, I'd still like being able to play DC as normal during them. At the moment, if I want anything non-CB during holidays I feel I'm either forced to take holiday eggs or just wait until it's over; I actually play DC less during holidays because of this, while I think a holiday event should be something that encourages you to play more.

Plus, as someone who often breeds to the AP, it's sad knowing that if I breed at the wrong time before a holiday all the eggs will die because they were lost behind the holiday wall. It'd be nice not to have to worry about that!

I generally have NO interest in hunting holidays. Those hunting holidays, could just focus on the last spot on the 4th line, instead of last line. It really wont hurt anything to have a line of normal released for the people who dont want holidays to pick through.

Since I proposed this in another thread, I'm going to go ahead and throw my support in. =p Was beat to making the thread, LOL.

Not everyone wants to hunt holidays or wants to hunt holidays the whole time or wants to catch as many holidays as they can, so this would help them. As well, it shouldn't hurt people who do just want to hunt holidays. They can simply ignore the extra line.

I'd love to see this added to the game! Since I've pretty much filled my scroll goals as far as past Holidays go, I don't need to hunt the AP a lot during those times. It'd be great to still be able to grab regular abandoned eggs instead of having to go to the biomes.

Support. While I do hunt for holidays, with 5 lines of AP eggs, it doesn't hurt anyone to have a single line reserved for non holiday eggs, and it is a good feature for those who'd like to hunt for something else.

Support. Even though I only hunt holidays during their season, I think this is a great idea for people who don't.

Support! This past Christmas I found myself with all the past-holiday eggs I wanted, and I wished for some regular eggs. Since this would be an extra line and not interfere with the holiday eggs at all, I see no reason for this *not* to happen.

This. There is also the main cave when anybody's bored.

Except that during Halloween there's one day and during Christmas and VDay there are three days where the cave is blocked from regular eggs during which time the AP can still be full with holidays.

Responding to your comment, and the one you quoted:

Holiday eggs would still be there, they would still move just as quickly as they always do. Really, this would only really affect a few specific times, since holidays really dont lock the AP up quite the same as they used to before the limit was lifted. Right when breeding window opens, and on the specific holiday itself are the two times that really seem to get locked down with eggs. The rest of the time, ap eggs do show up in short bursts. All this suggestion is going to change is that the very bottom line would be ap eggs, not holidays. There would still be 24 holiday slots potentially filled with eggs to grab at your disposal. Not everyone has an interest in hoarding holidays. I love picking through things people tossed in the holiday rush far more than holidays, for example.

"This doesn't hurt anyone" is an argument which one can bring up in so many suggestion threads. However it does not mean that implementing is really necessary.

The DC focus during holiday seasons is clearly on the celebrated holidays and the holiday dragons, I also heard that the scroll limit for bred holiday dragons was lifted so more holidays which otherwise would have died can be picked up now.

People who do not want to get holidays can go to the main cave and/or breed & trade non-holidays. Therefore, I personally do not see any need for this.

If people had really nothing else to do during holidays then I would most likely support this.

I, personally, will still be hunting all Holidays, always.

But I remember just how incredibly boring the entire Holiday week was, back when we each were limited to 2 of each Holiday only.... And I already had all the Holidays.

Not everyone plays the same, or has the same goals. Adding a line causes no harm, and would help those who play differently. It would also keep normal eggs in the backlog from dieing. To be frank.... Even when its not the Holidays, the AP is where I hunt. The biomes don't move much, and I already have all I want of all of the eggs in them. The AP and breeding are most of what I do these days.

Cheers!
