Thank you for doing this, TJ! We all worship the ground upon which you walk even more now! xd.png

Also, I'm in love with the skin.

Aye thanks TJ. I'm fully against SOPA, though in honesty I still ain't worried about it getting too far off the ground.

Still the more support the better. So thank you!

Being a Canadian I know that though this doesn't directly affect me yet, it will though if it were allowed to pass. I also know that our Prime Minster does not agree with SOPA and does not support it. However, I did sign the petition that several people have linked here and I am also both glad and grateful to the community and TJ himself for taking such a stand against this and not letting it slide under the radar.

Thanks for posting about this and making people aware. Someone posted about this very thing on my forum and I was grateful because as someone who isn't American, I hadn't even been aware of the issue.

I support your actions and the actions of every website participating in the blackout. This is a great thing I think, as it gets many people who wouldn't otherwise participate in politics to make a real stand. Down with laws that are overreaching enough that could perhaps include the removal of Wikipedia, Youtube, etc just because there might be something that someone deems infringement.

I haven't looked through every post to see if this was posted, but here are two links for those who would like to say something to their politicians:

http://www.senate.gov/general/contact_info...enators_cfm.cfm

Search via your state, and there is a contact form.

Same with Congress:

https://writerep.house.gov/writerep/welcome.shtml

If you don't want to contact them via that, their Facebook or Twitter accounts should be easily located. It is simple, just a few sentences at least, but with the more people just saying at least something, the bigger the impact. You can be 10 or 99, remind them when you vote, you will do so with this bill in mind and their reaction to it.

I'm sorry if this link has already been posted here and I'm just repeating other people, but there's a thread in Site Discussion here where people are naming dragons in petition against SOPA/PIPA.

I've named one of my dragons Total Blackout. smile.gif Everyone else should consider naming theirs something against SOPA/PIPA!

And thanks again to TJ for getting on board with this too. The more people who protest against this stuff, the better.

I'm not from/in the US, and I can't contact the US embassy for my own personal reasons, but I've been trying to spread awareness on these.

I may be late, but I'm keeping tabs on the news, and 3 sponsors have reportedly withdrawn from the SOPA/PIPA. :"D

This may be a small step, but it's still great news!

Well done, TJ!

The fact that the Internet is all abuzz about this, but that I have only seen one 30 second mention on the news about all this is very telling. More people need to know about this, and the Blackout is an excellent way to get the point across to those most affected by this.

This made me so happy to log on today and see that Dragon Cave was participating in the strike against SOPA. Wonderful job, TJ! The new skin is awesome too!

The only thing bad that went with this was I had to explain to my "slow" friend what all of this meant. >.< It took me about an hour. *fails at explaining things*

I'm glad you did something.

After being led to believe that many of the big sites would be doing a black out, the only one who seems to have actually gone the distance is Wikipedia. I totally respect them for this. The others who talked big (i.e. Facebook) did nothing it appears, or token gestures like the black band across Google's name in search.

These same sites are going to be crying the loudest if and when these restrictions take place. I am all for stopping pirating-- whenever my students offer to bring in the latest movie (I teach in Los Angeles), I tell them I refuse to have bootleg movies in my room, and without condemning their families I explain why I myself will not watch them.

But I seriously doubt that these acts proposed by Congress and the entertainment industry will only target the "crooks".

Anyway, good job, TJ.

I think that if Google and FB had blocked out all users for 24 hours, nobody would have been able to contact their representatives. xd.png

Still think people are overreacting about this. And I feel like it's more a trend to follow than people really making informed decisions, at least most of the time: everyone freaked out about it for two days before the first attempt to pass it, then went absolutely quiet again about it until... well, yesterday, when everyone started freaking out again. I mean if it was really such a deep and terrifying concern to people, then why are the only times I'm hearing about it in such short, rapid bursts--going from no mention of it for months to twenty panicking blogs in a day back to silence just to repeat?

Our government does a lot of dumb things. I'm not against people keeping an eye on bills they're trying to pass. But when it happens as this sort of reblog-filled, short-lived frenzy... it just seems silly to me.

At least people are reacting to it at all. It would be very disturbing if everyone remained silent and did nothing.

As for what I have seen, the worry and reactions have been consistent on my end. Actually, the actions and concerns have really been growing lately. So I am not sure where you are seeing these periodic times of silence.

I don't see people caring about it as being silly. Those who are concerned and are blogging/re-blogging about it are most likely very concerned. Plus, blogging is how you can spread the word out to many people at once.

Afterall, should it pass, their blogs will simply no longer exist. I am sure you would not want that... As silly as it may seem, it's these "rapid bursts" that are ultimately saving your internet right now.

From what I have heard/seen on this. It feels/looks almost like a 'Big Brother' is watching you bit. Yes, maybe there is a chance some are going overboard with how bad it might become.

But really I am sure there are other ways to protect the music and movie industry without taking these sort of steps.

I'm Canadian but I would vote against it if I could.

I've actually been seeing this for weeks now. Depending on where you go on the internet, or how much you're on the internet, others can see more or less of what you see. I've been seeing it all over for some time now.

Google is against it; there is no chance of it passing. Calm down people.

I know how hard it must have been to make that choice, TJ, and I applaud you for making it.

As of right now, many of the co sponsors of PIPA (Republicans) have backed away from the bill, and the House has shelved SOPA. Pres. Obama has stated that he will VETO either if they land on his desk the way they are now.

Cheeze, I wouldn't calm down if I were you, because I've read the list of who DOES support SOPA, and it includes Disney and its various Disney-owned everything, Nintendo, Warner Bros, and Sony... and a lot more names with influence in the senate.

http://theoriesofconspiracy.com/2011/11/li...orting-sopa.htm

Oh yeah, and these people should be considered idiots for being so short-sighted:

http://www.ibtimes.com/articles/283870/201...et-congress.htm

We must band together against this insanity. We must NOT calm down, but take ACTION.

Just because the whole thing has been put on hold, does not mean it won't be dragged out again in a new form. SOPA is PIPA in a prom dress.

Fight SOPA. Fight it even if it's prettied up to make it appear more palattable.

I know it's hard, but the next time you hear a great song and want to download it? Prove that we don't need SOPA by restraining yourself for a little while. And call up your local radio station and make a request instead.

Don't relax just yet. The supporters of SOPA are very, VERY rich, and they've made a lot more in 'donations' than the opponents of it have been able to make so far.

Dollar General stores are supporting Pipa/Sopa? The heck? What does a Dollar store chain have to do with the internet? And when you consider the "copyright infringing" things that somehow make their way onto dollar store shelves, you really have to wonder. o_0

I think what you are doing is wonderful, I dont believe that society is fully aware of how badly the goverment wants to control our lives, even down to the little things such as playing an online computer game. Thank you for your support in this TJ.

Oh and by the way the gray skin makes the dragons look awesome smile.gif

First of all, TJ, I extremely appreciate your general mode of not being political. However, for me, this goes beyond politics. Our world depends immensely on the internet now, and censoring things on such a large scale would simply make the whole thing collapse. We need to protest this as much as we can.
