Servals'N'Witches

Calm, chill RP, more for fun than for srs business writing.

---------------------------------

Sit down, child, and let me tell you a story about the witch who lived down the lane...

From Bast to broken mirrors and spilled salt, people's attitudes toward cats has changed quite a bit. Once revered as a god, now seen as evil demons assisting witches and their evil deeds.

But what if I told you that witches weren't evil?

Okay, sure, witches might summon demons every once in a while, but the average witch just wants to get by and feed themselves. And their varied pets. Cats have become an old trend. Why not buy dogs, which would fetch you the daily mail? Or a bird, capable and intelligent. Some witches are known for raising bear cubs and sharks.

In a small village in rural England, a young witch is trying to get into the magic business. She has no familiars, no spells, no books, and no support from friends. When a summon goes wrong, however, that begins to change...

Name: Cassandra (Sandy for short)

Gender: Female

Age: 15, almost 16

Species: Human

Appearance: She's short for her age, and her brown hair is often put up in a bun. Usually wears traditional witch attire (re: black point hat, black robes) at home but puts on some plain t-shirts and jeans when going out.

Personality: Optimist by day, depressive and pessimist by night. She's easily motivated to do something, but if it's too hard she gives up.

Other: Trying to be a witch, but so far hasn't done anything bigger than summoning a mouse. Works at a Cafe' twenty minutes from home.

I should go to bed soon. Or I'll want to die in the morning.

Sandy blinked to focus better on the chalk lines she drew. A five-pointed star stared back at her, unyielding.

Okay. The lines are messy. That's one thing that could go wrong. Wish I didn't forget to buy a ruler back at the store.

She bought a new, cheap black hat from the costume shop, treated herself to a bit of chocolate, but when it came to practical things her head simply fell out of her own skull.

The spell called for pictures of her loved ones, a drop of blood (still hesitant on that one; a sapphire knife, the most expensive thing she owned, waited nearby), and some sort of heat. If done correctly, Sandy would be able to call up a demon from Hell.

She had a vague idea of where she wanted to go with this. Summon the beast and keep it entertained long enough to not take her soul. Then ask if her mother was truly in hell.

Officially, the Church declared Mama Griffin a paragon of sin, doomed by her eccentric practice of supposedly changing the weather, despite her best intentions. Sandy never knew for sure if her mother had any magical gift; however, on Cassandra's worst days the endless rain over England dissipated mysteriously.

Here goes nothing. She lit a match and pressed it to a nearly-burned out candle. This went in the center of the pentagram. Next, she pressed her knife to her hand, whimpering as a thin line filled with red and spilled over onto the chalk.

A blinding flash filled Cassandra with a burst of hope. Had she pulled it off, for once in her miserable life? Or was it going to be a random animal/plant again?

A flash of light goes off.

And suddenly, a voice.

-Ok what is going on here? What and where i'm I?

From the flash of light, a shadow, seemingly a cat emerges. Though, it seems to be no ordinary cat.. Or it is not even a cat.

(I decided Rainbow could come through summoning lol)

"What is going on here?"

Cassandra looked down. Was the demon small? Unexpected, but-

No, it was an animal. But before her disappointment crept in, she took a closer look. It looked like a cat, though heavily scarred and pure white. Very unusual for a regular animal, but no fire burned on the cat-like's head, nor did an oily substance drip from it's fur.

It was something, surely. She could hear it speak- a deep feminine voice- in the Queen's English!

"U-uh, hi. Are you by chance from... down there?" She pointed at the earth, afraid to say the proper name.

"No.. Why do you ask?" She replies, a bit confused. "Wait.. Are you a witch?"

(also her voice is not soft, it's pretty deep and it shows sign of grief, hatred and hurt feelings)

((Thanks- corrected))

The cat-like was looking at her now. Sandy hoped that the animal didn't care for the frayed black robes, or the cheap cotton of the hat.

"Yes, or at least, I'm trying to be. I-I wanted to see if I could summon something else, but I didn't pay enough attention to my work."

She glanced down sadly at the chalk lines, now turned to soot. Unusable, and would make for a lot of cleaning in the morning.

"It was a failure. I don't know what I'm doing wrong." She covered her face with her hands. "Since you're intelligent, I guess you can stay in my apartment while I figure out how to get you home, though I have a feeling it's gonna be a lot harder than looking up who lost their pet cat."

"Well, I'm not a pet. I'm not even a cat. My home is really far from here, I can tell. (her home is on a far away island) Have you notice how my ears are gigantic and i'm much bigger than a normal cat? (she's almost 2 times bigger than a regular serval) But I could help you with the summoning. I do know some magic." She said.

Oh no. She offended the animal! Sandy buried her head in her hands. "Ohmygosh, I'm so sorry! It's just- you just look so much like a cat. I really should know my animals. A witch thing, you know, like black cats representing curses and dogs representing wards... but the local library doesn't exactly stack books on this stuff."

The digital clock on her table displayed 11 PM, moonlight making the numbers a little hard to read. "It's getting late, and to be honest I'm feeling a little tired. I guess it's better that you're not a demon?" She went over to set her alarm, preparing her bed after she did so.

"I'm getting paid tomorrow. Then, we could find some proper equipment-" Sandy glanced at her plain sidewalk chalk sheepishly. "- clean up, try again and in the process find a way to get you home."

The girl pulled out one of her two pillows, fluffing it up and placing it on the floor. Thankfully, it was summer, meaning that she could also afford to lose her blanket and make a quick bed for the talking animal. "The door's unlocked, if you need some fresh air. By the way- do you have a name? I'm Sandy, and sorry for taking you away."

"Rainbow... yeah, quite weird." Sandy conceded, and flicked off the light, though she didn't feel like sleeping. The streetlights cast odd shadows on her ceiling. The girl glanced at the animal again, letting thoughts run through her head.

"Hey, do you eat regular food? Human food? The Cafe' allows cats, and while I know you aren't one, you might be able to pass in." She pulled up the covers. A long day tomorrow, and she can't waste her energy talking to a stranger in her house.

"Well, I can eat any food, but i'm a big cat. (as in type of big cat) Which means I still needs meat to survive.. Well anyways, good night." She said, and close her eye, her left eye remains open like it no longers funtion. (it really does)

"Mmm." Sandy could feel her energy slowly leaving her. A slight chill caused her to pull up her blanket more, but otherwise her sleep went undisturbed.

--timeskip--

She woke up five minutes before her alarm did. Schedules were second-hand to her, and her brain counted the minutes by itself. "Time to pour some cereal." She murmured, quickly grabbing today's clothes from her closet and arranging them on her bed. On her way to the kitchen, her feet hit something warm and soft.

"Sorry! I forgot you were there!" Sandy reached down for an apology pet before reminding herself that Rainbow was intelligent.

"I'm about to head out to the Cafe' once I clean myself up. I'll get you breakfast then." Sandy said.

(I'll post)

"Kay." She said. She then stand up, and practice some telepathy by levitating rocks and making sure Sandy doesn't see it. She sighed. "I miss the Isolatians." (Isolatians is what people call people from her island)

Her cereal was gone in less than a minute. It was dry, as she didn't want to spend too much money at the supermarket. It could ruin her clothes for the day, too. Sandy rushed a comb through her hair and looked herself one more time in the mirror. Professional enough.

"Isolations? That gives me a clue." Sandy grabbed her phone and punched in the word. The definition popped up first, but anything of use was buried under thousands of results. 'The Isolations' didn't work, either.

Later at night I'll look harder. Right now, work should be on your mind. After all, even if she knew where Rainbow was from, Sandy had no way of paying for the trip. Yet.

The door opened to a burst of sunshine. Uncommon. But nice.

"The Cafe' is about... Ten? Twenty? Thirty? Less than an hour, definitely, away."

"You spelled it wrong, bud." She corrected her. "And kay, don't really care." She flicks her tail.

(A hint of where she is from is one of the places in my location thingy)

"Huh..." Sandy checked her phone again, typing out every possible variation of "Isolation" to kill time. "I doubt it's a city or a country... Island? Tiny town?" A few results popped in about an 'Isolated Island', but very little aside from just the name. No flights.

The grassy patch ended into sidewalk. Her town's tiny downtown spread across only two streets. On the first, her work, between a law firm and the local church. Sandy shuddered as she walked by, hoping to avoid any priests. Last thing she needed to hear was how her mother was so-and-so, irredeemably evil. Best they don't see Rainbow, too.

"My work." The Cafe' wasn't open yet, but about to be. She waved down one of her co-workers to open the door. Markus, her manager. An alright guy, but sometimes a pain to work with.

"I'll get you some breakfast. Anything you like to eat?" Sandy asked the serval.

(What time is this taking place in? Anyways Isolated Island is where all my ocs/dc dragons lives in.)

"Heh.. You can't search it. It's a pretty closed-to-humans place. The Isolatians are mostly dragons on one side, and various animals on the other side. We speak English, and everyone has their own specialty. The dragon side of the island is pretty crowded. Anyways, I would like any kind of meat please." She tells the informations of her island a bit proudly, caude they've been throught a lot of histories.

((Modern.))

"Dr-dragons?" Sandra yelped, earning a few looks from her co-workers. "Sorry, just catching up on my favorite book." She pulled a book out to sustain the lie. A talking animal could maybe pass in a big city, but this was a small town.

Sandy ruffled through the store's food supply. A lot of bread, going to be made into sandwiches. Some cheese, some fruits. Ah! There! Slices of ham, delivered today. There was also some uncooked bacon, but she knew that almost all of it was going to be used up. Sandy made a mental note to check again at lunch hour. Perhaps she'll be lucky today.

"Alright. You can wander all around the store, just don't get into a co-workers way or jump any cat-proof gates. They'll find a way to kick you out for it." She whispered, checking for any eavesdroppers. She pulled out a plain, white plate and put the ham on it, pushing it toward Rainbow.

((Kay, I think she brought her tablet along. She's an artist cause she's, you know, my fursona and persona.))

"Yeah dragons. And kay." She then eats her food and pulls out her tablet, and began watching some animations and stuffs. "The list of maps to do is.. Not a big list, great." She murmurs. She then wanders around the store, looking at stuffs.

((Neat! Never really had any set persona.))

The store was officially open for the weekday. Customers began pouring in, all of them regulars. Most only needed a coffee, which Sandy routinely helped out with, and the rare sandwich or roll, but otherwise the morning passed by uneventfully.

Dragons... There were some spells in her one sole witch book that called for something mythical. Deep sea creature, something about unicorns, and one or two spells using something about dragons. All of those were impractical spells- flight, immortality, turning things into gold- not exactly stuff Sandy cared for. The gold thing, maybe. Would get her a better apartment.

Still, if she ever got her hands on a dragon scale she should try one of those out.

The morning ended. Her shift, as well. Markus handed over a roll of money for her week. She counted out mentally what she needed to live, and the rest she stuffed in another pocket. Time to shop for witching supplies.

(Also, her art style is exactly the same as mine, wishes I could show it)

She leaned against the counter after she had looked around, and begin animating. "This should be easy.."
