Posted January 12, 2017 It's very strange because the other two lag monster attacks were on holidays. This one was just random. Share this post Link to post
Posted January 12, 2017 (edited) If you have a problem with mod action, you can PM the mod (or another appropriate mod) to ask why, rather than trying to start drama in public. However, since you did bring it up in public, I will go ahead and answer publicly to clear up your and anybody else's confusion. I get that you were having fun, but posting these banners in the Help thread is very spammy. It makes it very hard to read through the thread and find out what the actual issue is. It buries posts that are on-topic, making it hard for people to see if other's are having the same issue as them and making it hard for mods to see what the problem(s) are and if they are common and confirmed by many. Finally, the Help topic is not for chatting or posting art, so your meme (definition: a humorous image, video, piece of text, etc., that is copied (often with slight variations) and spread rapidly by Internet users, which the lagmonster certainly falls under) posts were off-topic anyway, even if you remove the fact that they confounded users' abilities to successfully browse the topic. Please PM me if you are still confused. Thanks. ~ Anyway, I find it pretty funny that any time the cave acts slightly wonky for more than fifteen minutes, users are jumping on the lagmonster wagon, always wanting to blame it on the lagmonster and wanting to create banners about it. I totally get wanting to be a part of it, though! But I wonder if people realize that the reason the lagmonster became such a pervasive part of DC culture is because what we refer to the lagmonster attack lasted for weeks. There were people unable to even use the site for three weeks. That's why people drew the lagmonster. That's why people put it in so many banners. That's why it's still so memorable today. So I always picture the lagmonster as much larger scale attacks. Something like what happened today, I would say was just a little Lagmonster Jr. trying to prove itself to its parent. ;p In any case, I am glad you found something fun to do with your time while the cave was down. Your hatchling banner turned out very cute. Edited January 12, 2017 by SockPuppet Strangler Share this post Link to post

Your hatchling banner turned out very cute. As my profile states, I've been around since AT LEAST April 2010. I can't trace myself back any farther but that's the oldest badge I have. I do have a badge from October 2010, but I cannot recall being affected by the lagmonster. Then again I didn't snag the halloween eggs that year either. I also hadn't been on the forums yet, and even back when I created the forum account I wasn't in the forums often at all. So any time there is a problem with the site I just kinda jump on the lag monster band wagon. It's fun! And I really like the idea of a baby lagmonster, that's almost too adorable haha. Posted January 15, 2017 A little late to the party, and Imgur kinda screwed it up, but I drew the Lagmonster hoarding our scrolls, since most of what it did was make people unable to log in. Share this post Link to post
