Troll Hunters

Has anyone seen this show on Netflix yet? I just finished the first season and I'm amazed at how good it is! There are some overused tropes that annoyed me a tad(farting jokes, etc.), but other than that I found the animation and story to be brilliant. What are your opinions? Are you a fan or nah?

Fan here.

I've been pretty impressed with most of Netflix's original shows, but the fact that the guy who worked on Book of Life worked on this one hooked me. It's not often I find a show that catches my attention and holds onto it within the first episode, but this is definitely one of them.

Can't wait for S2!

Fan!

Part two. The guy who also produced Hell boy is also a creator of the show. However, it will probably take a while for the second part to come out. The show is really addictive and it's one I'd love to binge watch again! Apparently there's little eggs hidden about DreamWorks other projects like How to Train Your Dragon and another Netflix original show (a anime I think.)

The reason I say part two will be a while for it to come out, is because Anton Yelchin, who's the voice of Jim has tragically died last year.

I'm so glad there are more fans than just myself! And oh goodness, I had no clue the voice actor died! That's actually really sad. I wonder who they'll get to voice Jim now. I can't wait for part two either but I think the tension in waiting will make it all the better when it comes out! So who'se your favorite character so far? My favorite comes later on in Part 1 so I'm not gonna say since I might spoil something.

Toby and ARGH are my two favorite characters. I'm not surprised. My mom and I got hooked. In fact, I showed her the trailer and introduced her to the show. She told her co worker about it, now her coworker and her kids are attached too! It's really easy to get addicted to it.

I'm enjoying this show as well! The idea behind it is really interesting, and there's some complex plot going on.

I'm already sad about ARGH's shorter future, though. </3

Had no idea about the voice actor though. D: That's sad.

You might know him as Pavel Chekov from the new star trek movies. He died before filming the third one.

I cried when he died, he had so much potential and was a good man. He died in a "car accident". He got out of his car in his driveway and went to check the mail. He forgot to put his car in park, and it rolled back on him. The cast was worried about him taking so long for a party and they found him pinned between his car and the brick mailbox dead from suffocation.

No drugs in his system, and he wasn't drinking at the time either.

I really hope they try to get someone who can get close to Jim's original voice.

That is sad. I remember my whole family paid respects to him in our own ways, for some reason I never put the two together. I'm sure they'll find someone close in voice to do it, otherwise, enjoy what you've got.

Still can't wait to see what they've got planned, and hope they get a chance to continue on at least in the same fashion that Samurai Jack has gotten.

The show so far is handled so well, it actually made me tear up in a few places. Development of both story and characters are spot on, though with Dreamworks backing, it's not hard to see why; they've been handling a lot of their Netflix originals super well.

Cannot wait for season 2. I want to see that eldritch queen.

Has anyone read the book version? I havent, but from what I've heard things are very different and much darker:

1) Aargh is female, wasn't a pacifist and actually fought Gunmar

2) Jim has his father, but Mom Lake moved away.

3) There's no Trollhunter, there's Paladins, humans which actually kill trolls. Jim's uncle was one.

4) The amulet only translates Trollspeak to English, and only for the holder. So Jims friend (can't remember his name for the life of me) can't hear anything but growling and roaring.

5) No Hearthstone, Trollmarket, etc.

I think I still prefer the show version more. The world is easier to connect to and gives that sense of awe instead of it being 100% angst all the time.

It's so sad that the voice actor died, like I really wish that hadn't happened. He did such a good job playing Jim. RIP...

As for Aargh, I do hope he'll make some kind of crazy recovery in S2 somehow. He's such a loveable character!

And woah, the book does sound different! To be honest, I like the premise of the show better. It would be interesting to see a female Aargh though.
