The Last of our Kind

Recommended Posts

Plot:

We are no ordinary wolves, you see...or at least, we didn't use to be. We are no more. There once lived two packs (Inferno and Storm) who were at odds with on and other. The Inferno were blessed with fire and earth abilities, so they were naturally on rough terms with the Storm, who were gifted with aquatic or sky powers. Over time, the unnatural wolves diminished in numbers, until only two remained: Harmony of the Inferno, and ______ of the Storm. And on the shoulders of these two wolves rests the fate of their packs: shall they come to peaceful terms, or perish to war and hatred like their past pack-mates? (Credit to Aroara for plot idea)

Characters:

Name: Harmony (20mia08)

Gender: Female

Age: 24 (in human years)

Appearance: A lanky and beautiful creature, Harmony appears delicate and slender from a distance, just as graceful as her name suggests. In truth, Harmony's body is rippling with solid and well-trained muscle under her glossy fire-red pelt. She's of a heavy and rare red wolf descent, and retains an athletic build. She remains an average height for a wolf of her kind, and appears to be a typical red wolf, just of a much brighter color. However, she can still be easily spotted, as Harmony tends to proudly sport a column of flames down her spine, just to make sure everyone knows she's of the Inferno pack. Character image

Last of: Inferno

Power: Has an extremely close affinity to fire, causing her to have an extremely high body temperature if she's unable to control herself. Harmony is resistant to extreme heat and fire, and is capable of bursting into flames like a phoenix. When her energy levels spike too high (whether it be out of anger or excitement), she may burn whatever rests at her paws, and create small patches of fire/ash wherever she steps. With her immensely high body temperature, she can heat up her surrounding atmosphere and essentially generate fire. She is yet to discover any earth abilities, but suspects that she may have some.

History: Harmony is completely oblivious of her past, but only remembers her purpose and basic info of her former pack (Inferno). However, she seems to be slowly regaining bits and pieces of her past.

Personality: Although she is generally shy, Harmony is secretly somewhat of a spitfire, hence her affinity with fire. The red wolf is astoundingly energetic and giddy, and tends to get too excited and quickly disappointed. She's a bit short-tempered in impatient, which causes her to be easily frustrated in certain situations. Although once past her shy outer shell, Harmony can be just as her name suggests: sweet and passionate. Unfortunately, gaining her trust is a timely and long process, although it's very much worth the effort in the end. Regardless of her timidness, Harmony is secretly a social beast, who at least prefers the companionship of something/someone, even if it isn't another wolf. As a result, she tends to "collect" random small companions as "pets".

Name: Balu

Gender: Male

Looks: Balu Is a large male with deep blue fur and with light blue streaks of fur. Muscular and slick, his thick pelt is like that of an Arctic wolf. He's larger than average and his paws have slight webbing between them to help with swimming.

Age: Early 20s

Last of: Storm

Power: He has control over water, making it ice, he can also breath under water. he radiates a cooler temperature then most. He has yet to discover any air abilities as of yet. If angered, depressed or upset, the air around him would grow cold and frost would spread from his paws and breath.

History: Balu knows some of his past. He remembers his parents and the rest of the storm pack going to fight, and then he was all alone. He found a pack of normal wolves who raised him until his powers manifested and they attacked him, chasing him away. This has happened multiple times so eventually he kept away from all things and secluded himself.

Personality Balu was rejected multiple times by various species including his own. Because of this, much like his powers, he's become cold and indifferent towards the world and is convinced that anyone who dares get close enough to him, will eventually die or leave him as soon as they melt the icey exterior around he heart. So, he has a pessimistic view on life and is very shy and weary about meeting new creatures.

Balu sat in a cave. Although it was warm outside, summer in full swing but the inside of the cavern was so cold inside, frost formed around the mouth. It didn't stick for very long, meaning the hot air outside made the mouth drip constantly with moisture. The cave was deep and narrow. The little bit of water inside from a slim creek was frozen, now a mirror of blue that he used to look at himself. He wasn't narcissistic, actually the opposite. He was looking at a face that would get ridiculed if he went out during the day. Night was his companion, and the rain. It was easier to hunt in the rain.

Oh, how Harmony loved the warm weather! Although a bit of a recluse to new faces, the fire-colored wolf was having a blast by dancing all across a meadow. She would leap gracefully, a thin trail of flames flickering along her spine as she playfully snapped her jaws at a fleeing butterfly. She felt like a pup again, although she couldn't quite recall her childhood. She just liked to assume that it was...happy. No more, no less, just "happy". The Inferno wolf skidded to a halt as the butterfly flew out of her reach, a few small flames crackling behind her on the ground before going out. If she wasn't careful enough, she'd probably burn the entire meadow to the ground. Oh well, it'd grow back, right? Sure it would. Harmony turned sharply on her heels before promptly trotting out of the sunny meadow with her tail held high, keen nose sniffing the air for a proper meal. A deer would be far too large for her...maybe a squirrel, or a rabbit? They put up a fun chase, while being satisfying to the tastebuds all the meanwhile.

Bleu's stomach complained. He hasn't eaten anything in two days becoming extremely depressed and lethargic as of late. With a huff he got up and wondered out of his cave. If not a rabbit, then he'd go fishing. He moved more smoothly in the water then on land, it feeling more natural for him. Lifting his nose he sniffed, sneezed and sniffed again squinting in the sunlight. Give him winter. Summer was too hot for his thick slick coat. Catching a scent of a racoon.... hmm its bigger than a rabbit and definitely better than a coyote... He took off to follow the smell to a meadow where it's den was located.

The female wolf let out a huff of excitement as she locked onto the scent. It was rabbit, for certain. She greatly preferred rabbit over squirrels, because the annoying bushy-tailed rodents climbed up trees. Rabbits enjoyed giving a good chase before their death, rather than fleeing into a tree like a coward. Harmony trotted off aways, tracking the scent of her divine meal. And then, she spotted the little brown rabbit. It was young, yet its legs boasted of its great power. She crept a few yards closer before pausing, peeling back her lips, and then taking off. The Inferno wolf moved swiftly, as she was the fastest of her pack...or of what it used to be. Small pockets of fire trailed in her path as Harmony raced after the rabbit, paws beating against the hollow earth. As soon as it heard its pursuer taking off, the rabbit lurched forward and hared off. Its tiny heart pounded hard in its frail chest, so hard that Harmony could hear it.

Balu reached the tree and placed his paws on it. Ice creeping up the bark to the hole until the racoon leaped out and took off, tail bouncing along behind it frozen. Balu tore off after it. He was starving and that coon was fat. Ahead of the racoon a rabbit dashed by with a wolf hot on the trail. Emphasis on the word hot. Scorched paw prints, mocked his one frosty trail that quickly faded in the summer sun. Whatever curiosity he had quickly faded from his mind as ice in a desert as he pounced on the racoon and made the kill.

The flaming wolf pushed herself forward, muscles screaming in not agony, but in a thirst for the entertaining and exhilarating chase. She was built and born for fighting and fending off predators, or whatever may be her enemy, just like her deceased ancestors. But now, with both packs practically extinct, Harmony's muscles could not enjoy the burning pain of fighting, only the occasional chase for prey. So for know, these pitiful chases would have to suffice. Harmony was gaining on the rabbit with ease, extending her strides and parting her jaws, preparing to drive her fangs into bunny-flesh. She could taste the poor cottontail already!! With one last final effort, the red wolf pushed hard on her hind legs, springing forward and snapping her jaws around the rabbit, which squealed in agony.

After quickly devouring the racoon he cleaned his mussle and headed back to where the burnt paw prints where. So this wolf had powers like he does? Carefully he stalked along the trail, hiding behind the bushes studying the wolf. One part of him was curious as to why this other predator had powers like him, another part, more instinctual screamed danger at the sight of the flames along her back.

((Sorry, got sick))

The fire along her flexible spine burned higher at the excitement of her kill. Harmony's tail was held high as she kept her jaws around the neck of the rabbit firmly, to ensure that it was dead. She didn't want to release the rabbit from her grasp, and then have it run off. After deeming it dead, Harmony relaxed herself and settled down on the cool earth to enjoy her meal. The flames extinguished, and the wolf passively ate her meal. She knew that the fauna around her knew better than to attempt to steal her meal. All of the forestlife knew well of Harmony's outstanding abilities. So, if they annoyed her, or made her feel threatened, she'd just give them a "little" burn. Then, the problem was resolved!

Balu creeped closer from behind her. She was like him? How can that be? A mix of his curiosity and shock at seeing another wolf to hold abilities sent a wave of frost wafting from him. H seeing that the frost reached her back paws, he turned and fled like the cowered he was and didn't stop running until he was deep inside his cave once more.
