Oh I've been into Elder Scrolls nearly as long as I've been playing video games altogether (which is to say from the first grade or so). Funny thing is, I was too young to even make sense of the English in Morrowind, but I was immediately absorbed into the Dunmer homeworld regardless. And when Oblivion came out... I was already beyond saving biggrin.gif

So yes, I'm looking forward to 11.11.11. as the date a copy of Skyrim will (hopefully) find a new home in my computer, too. I can't stop watching the trailers and "the Sons of Skyrim" had been stuck in my head for about a week now. I hope the game manages to cast a spell as strong as the two previous installations did.

If nothing else, I try to think according to the equation that...

Elder Scrolls + Dragons = Win.

But I guess we won't know that for sure before the game is actually out. Remember, "when the truth finally dawned, it dawned in fire". wink.gif

Heh same here. I found Oblivin 3 years ago and never looked back. Skyrim has dragons, and you are a dragonborn. You have the soul of dragon.

Every time you kill a dragon, you learn a shout. Its a powerful spell xP. And the dragons aren't scripted... epic. The graphics are awesome, but the map is a third the size of oblivion's. I wonder if you can ride the dragons... Mmm.

Anyways, thats what I know. Look up the trailer and such on youtube.

God I can't wait for Skyrim. The only other Elder Scrolls game I've played is Oblivion (and I still have never finished it dry.gif). The thing is that I'll probably be screaming and running the hell away from any dragons.

Skyrim looks SO AMAZING. The radiant story system will be awesome, but to a point, I think. If you're in conversation with someone and a dragon attacks, will they turn and run? Or will they continue talking while all their friends and family burn to death? Oh well. The game is still top on my "LET'S BUY THIS" list.

Glad to see that people are as excited as I am. I cant wait for Skyrim and Get Pwned that would be hilarious!

*Just having a casual conversation with someone*

*boom dragon destroys whole village XP*

I cant wait to see what other types of shouts theres gonna be :V

I play on trying a character with a shield in one hand and a spell in the other, wearing light armor, but I don't know how well that will work 0_0

edit: I actually just want the helmet that Dovakhiin wears in all the trailers ;3;

Interesting idea youve got there :V who knows it might actually turn out being pretty good. I probably will use a charachter with two different spells in each had or a sword in one had spell in the other.

I havent really considered what type of armor yet.

I try not to plan my character or playstyle too much beforehand - I'm going to finish the game several times anyway, might as well do so while experimenting with different combinations. ^^

The shouts remind me just a bit of signs in the Witcher. Anyway I think I'm going to concentrate on using them quite a bit, as I did with spells in the previous games. Surely chopping up some dragon with a sword sounds fun, but it'll make much bigger impact if you have something to shout at the vicious lizard's face! Maybe it'll get scared and thus make my job much easier... *hehee*

Oh yeah there's duel weilding, isn't there? Heh, double swords would be awesome. Or...double bows? Nah, that probably wouldn't work. Unless there were crossbows...

Ehh, anyway, what are you guys' favorite races? I loooove the Khajiits...

I like the Argonians myself, Due to the poison immunity and disease resistance; However the Kajiits are my second choice.

Awesomesauce. The lowest price on ebay is $79.99/$80.00, and I have to do surverys to get the game. (Can't do 'em)

I've completed the main quest lots of times, and I'm guildmaster of like everything, also have most of the houses. Ish fun.

I love Dunmers to be truthful, not sure why... but.. Yah.

EDIT: I watched in a gameplay video, some creatures don't attack on sight. Like in the valleys, giants and mammoths. If you attack them, they'll strike back. In another, someone attacked this giant and was about to die:

Oh, i'll hit you. *Cuts giant with blade*

Grahh! *Giant hits back*

*Almost dead*

*Random dragon swoops in and takes the giant to the air, then drops the dead thing*.

You can use 2 blades though, so one in one hand and another in the other. There are also special attacks, like you kill the enemy by pressing a certain button.

Skyrim is really cool, and I can't wait.

The enemies also react to hitting. In Oblivion, you'd just hit something and blood would come out. In this game, you can hit it's head and the head goes to the side, or the leg wobbles. Such and such.

The one where the dragon picks up the giant is actually a developer interview by....Was it G4? i can't remember who, but still. lol

and the two blades thing isn't just for blades. You can combo wield any spell, shield, and one handed weapon in the game. I don't know if you can dual wield shields, as many people have said they're going to do, but I can't see why it wouldn't be possible :P

I adore TES. Can't wait for Skyrim, but I'm praying that lycanthropy makes a return.

I dashed here as soon as I saw a new post, lol. I'm stalking this thread because I have absolutely NOTHING better to do >_<

edit with on topic post:

I wonder how the storyline will progress, d'you think it'll be like Oblivion where it's just something to do at your own leisure?

I hope that the killing moves(like the unique ones for weapons) have special animations for killing each type of enemy, like the giant would be some sort of awesome jump thing instead of just kinda stabbing it, or being unable to do it at all. Just something I'd like to see... :P

Hehe, same here.

I've played TES since Morrowind, which I got before Oblivion actually came out.

By the way, while the game runs better on the Xbox (360 where applicable), I'd advise getting TES games for the computer just because of the wealth of amazing mods available.

Oh, I planned on it. I own the game on 360 and played it on PC at a friend's house, and immediately saw and felt the difference, and vowed to get Skyrim on PC.

If you don't have a superb graphics card, expect lag, but yeah, the player-made content makes everything worth it. My copy of Oblivion is so much fun. I've got a really good werewolf mod, an okay mod that lets me ride on a dragon, some awesome armor and weapons mods, new monsters, new quests, skill uncapper, new races... Life is good.

Also, be careful not to get yourself used to god mode. tongue.gif

Oh, I forgot to mention that my friend let me take it home for a while(he had it on disk, not Steam) so I know all that :P

And my graphics card is pretty good, Oblivion had no lag at all.

Is the dragon one the Akatosh mount one? It's okay.

I really like looking at player-owned home mods, especially those with a quest that needs completing before it can be owned. Some of them look so nice!

So far, I've played both Morrowind and Oblivion. PC versions of them, of course. Because I just can't survive without the console! xd.png

But I wish my parents could get me a new computer... my only-the-Nine-Divines-know-how-old computer can somehow miraculously run Oblivion pretty well... but I need a new one in order to play Skyrim. sad.gif

I wonder... will M'Aiq the Liar appear in Skyrim?

I really hope he does.

I started playing Oblivion sometime last year. But then I heard that all the monsters are balanced according to whatever your current level is, and that just ruined it for me. I'm one of those people that like to level up my character and then wreak havoc wherever possible. Plus, I don't like first person games (excluding anything involving a Portal), and I don't remember if 3rd person was an option in Oblivion. So it probably stunk.

I realize that it's very likely that monsters in Skyrim may level up the same way, BUT.... it looks oh-so-pretty. Plus DRAGONS! Plus, I (presumably) get a better 3rd person option.

All in all, I am looking forward to Skyrim, though I'd like to get a couple other games before I go offering up my soul to Bethesda.

Man, I wish I had known about TES when Morrowind was fresh.

Yes, a third-person option was available in Oblivion.

About Skyrim: I heard they were strongly debating NOT level balancing the monsters, and I hope they go with that. What I love about The Elder Scrolls is that the peeps who make it actually LISTEN to what their fans have to say. A few things they're changing from Oblivion to Skyrim primarily because of mods they saw people make in Oblivion and complaints they got:

1. NPC appearance: Gals and guys in Skyrim are gonna be 100%... 'prettier' if you will... than they were in Oblivion.

2. There aren't going to be any 'primary' and 'secondary' skills that determine what level you become by what you do. This means that if you're mainly an alchemist and level up by doing alchemy, you won't be pitted against monsters that are your level but way more powerful because of your lack of weapon skills.

3. NPC intelligence and relations! This is my favorite; from what they've revealed here and there, not only can you assassinate an NPC much more discretely than before, but a guard won't come running if a kitty sees you do it (in other words, you can actually get away with it without guards randomly blaming you for killing someone they shouldn't know you killed). I'm not one for assassinating the innocent, so here's my favorite part (they're considering adding); IF someone sees you assassinate an NPC, there is a chance that that person will 'tell' the NPC's family that you killed the NPC, and the NPC's family will attack you. tongue.gif

But overall, what I'm really excited about is Elk. I hope they improved the archery system so arrows don't just drop like rocks. ^^

My brother really hopes they totally revamped vampires too. He likes the ones in Morrowind better than the Oblivion ones. He also hopes you can ride dragons, and I'm with him on that. wink.gif I can't wait to learn why the dragons are attacking... who knows? Maybe in the end you join the dragons! Or not. rolleyes.gif

Question: does anyone know if in Skyrim, you can kill main character NPCs? I heard someone talking about it, as though it no longer says "[Name] is unconscious" and instead kills them, but forces you to quit the storyline. That has its pros and cons.

I recall seeing an interview where they said that if you were to kill a quest-baring NPC, then they would like to try to have a family member, or a friend take up their position, so that you won't be closing any doors. Though I don't know if that would be the case for every instance.

Another thing that I believe is new would be marriage. Inter species marriage, and same-sex marriage. While I don't particularly float that way myself, as one review pointed out, gay vampire marriage FTW! laugh.gif
