Character personality: Lava Plume is fierce and she will face a challenger head on to protect her leadership and flock. Often times, she does have a bit of a temper when she is wrong, but will never strike out to the rest of her flock.

Rp element: Ice. She can't do target freezing decently(something her chicks might have), but is very good with temperature control over a wide area.

Rp appearance: She often has icicles hanging off her very long tail. Head is pure white, without the common black streak most ospreys have. Eyes are gray, and her wings have a white wave pattern (sorta like parakeets). Breast feathers are white and sprinkled with gray rather than brown.

Character personality: (I know there's no flocks, this is for later) Snow is overly used to the indvidualistic life. She's not very well integrated with the intra-flock relationships, and so harshly upholds the flock's order. While she would repay the favor of a flock or osprey who helps her, she tries to look out for her own flock more and would brush off some favors that don't directly favor the Winter Pack, with a "Oh, all of my members are right now out catching fish." or something of the like. Pretty good at diplomacy, though, and steps out of conflict as much as she can.

Rp element: weak Ice, has some dark powers due to human experimentation (better above-ground vision, some night vision, but poorer underwater and cannot catch fish)

Rp appearance: Very big for a male osprey. His head is a complete brown, and his primary feathers are slightly gold. Beak is a startling ice-blue, and so stands out from other ospreys. There's a red tag around his feet (could be a tracking device if you want) that he tries every so often to crack and get off.

Character personality: Serious, will not laugh. Very twitchy and easy to self-doubt. River tends to obey orders without a second thought, and relies on them almost entirely to get anything done. Often fatigued due to watching over the flock at night, and always seems to be ready for a meal. Curious, but easy to startle. Fairly lazy.

Character backstory: He was marked out as a peculiar chick by the Keelius as his blue beak gave him away. Later, when River left the nest, they captured him to study how Ice genetics work. While he was handled very shortly, the humans in charge of him attempted to strengthen his Ice gene, but mixed that up with a mild Dark gene meant for Dark Osprey maintenance. As a result, he's one of the few Ospreys to have mixed powers, how weak they may be.

Since River was meant as a genetic study, they released him to see if he will bear chicks, and if those chicks show any signs of cold powers. Unable to catch the staple of most osprey's diets, River was keeping himself flight-worthy through rodents. Eventually, he ran into Thunder Snow and struck a deal; protect her, scare threats away, and keep an eye on the horizon, to get food in return. ))

Eternal is a pitch-black osprey, though a few of his underfeathers have subtle navy blue hues. His eyes are green, like deep forests. Sometimes, he likes to "dye" his feathers and bedazzle them with washable powder that he makes special for feathers (this powder is also good for dropping in human/wolf faces and making them sneeze)

Character personality:

Eternal Despair is a creative and artsy bird. He loves to create art with his claws, and he specializes in feather styling- all the Dark birds are pitch-black, why not add a little fabulous to them? Of course, Fire and Ice birds are welcome to add a little fashion to their plumage if they please. Eternal isn't picky. He loves to make small talk with anyone while working on art or styling; much like a hair stylist in our world.

When it comes to work, Eternal tries his hardest to please his higher-ups and get the job done. He's always glad to lend a talon if another osprey needs it.

Phoenix Flight greatly resembles the birds of legend. Her plumage is mostly a bright red, with orange underfeathers and a black beak. Her eyes are a lightning blue, and her talons are a bright orange. A few feathers on the back of her head stick out a bit more than the others, and the ends curl upwards.

Character personality:

Phoenix is an outgoing character with a wild personality. She loves adventure, and nobird can hold her back when she sets her eye on a goal. She's a stubborn meathead, to put it in simple terms. She lives for the fight, and will defend her flock (when it comes that time) at all costs. This also goes to show that while fiery and fierce, she is ultimately loyal to those she forms attachments to. She will listen to requests, but there's a 50/50 chance she will obey.

In moments of lucidity, he tends to take a neutral stance in discussions, as it is his belief that the lives of others should not be made privy to his opinion. He speaks carefully and concisely, and may come off as aloof and uncaring, though that is far from the truth. He is surprisingly adamant about balance and equality, and finds truth and goodness within the hearts of the most feral wolf or greedy human.

 

Hoary enjoys deep interpersonal relationships, discussions about the complexities of life, and beautiful displays of creativity.

Character backstory: Hoary remembers very little of his life up until now. He has spent most of his life drifting from shoal to snowcap, listless and without a meaningful purpose outside his incessant dreams of destiny and fate. He feels lingering attachments to phantom images of ospreys that he is certain he’s never met, and is nostalgic for a land of sweeping sun-tinged clouds and glittering autumnal silver-wood forests long gone. Though he has no recollection of such, he feels a connection not only to his fellow avians, but to the humans and wolves that endlessly plague them.

I'm a little against adding in any more flocks after Sol/Lux, simply because it might be a mess for people and timing with how fast this RP moves. Beyond that, Sol sets up a pattern with the flocks (Maple/Winter-temperature, Sol/Night-senses) and checks Night. Adding in another in the next 5 pages would mess up the balance.

That's my thoughts exactly. Lion actually suggested the Lux Flock to me, and while I think it's a good balance for Night (and fits with my chara if it stays), more could go a little crazy unless it's properly balanced. Every 5 pages...? @.@

 

Maybe in the future we could come upon other flocks (I keep wanting to call them Flights no thanks to Flight Rising lol), and their could be another set of self-checking flocks/elements that would introduce a Trinity (Ice/Fire--Dark/Light/--?,?), but we need story progression for now.

If the new flock/element thing didn't turn out, I was actually considering Night Flock myself for Hoary. I figured everyone would be all over Maple for the fiery stuff. Maybe I'd possibly think about it (making a chara for Maple, as I have one in mind), if this stuff with Hoary works out. The wait is killing me (though I completely understand.)

I was under the assumption it was night. That's when the raid was going on, right? And yes, I'd love an answer to the season question right now. It'd help me imagine this all the more better. (I'm a veteran DnD player, so I'm assuming this type of roleplay isn't too different.)

An older bird would advance the plot spill the beans on Keelius be able to tell us a lot more about the history of Ascended Ospreys and humans. Don't know how comfortable Lion is with us DMing a bit.

Do we have a concrete map of the territory? I've had it that Maple has their nests near the very edges of volcano craters, maybe hid in a small outcropping so lava doesn't burn their hard work down. Night lives nearby, but in long-dead volcanoes that now provide perfect caves in the form of hollow lava chambers and outlets. Winter lives a bit further, in riverine forest that's abundant thanks to the volcanoes. I don't know where Geyser stops and Keelius ends.

Oooh, though, I wonder what they'd be? I guess they may be artificial in the sense that they aren't the Ascendants, and may have elemental affinities that don't occur in the wild. Or, it's a trinity based on tangible elements/intangible elements/artificial elements. Seriously, clockwork birds is such a romantic idea that I'd be all over it.

 

Though, they are MAN-made...GASP. Moral conflicts with another flock based on their heritage, rethinking the position of the humans in the fight, questioning natural birth vs. made in a lab/workshop...OH POSSIBILITIES BLESS ME BONES.

 

And someone should draw the map out. I'm of like-mind to you so far, serce2, but a visual aid would be nice. Maybe we should clarify with Lion when she gets here.

I thought it would be good if we had another element. 3 is an odd number, dark doesn't have an opposite, and let's not start blaming but I didn't give the ideas for the Sol Flock or whatever you call it. Here, should I post me and Sugar's messages? Or would you rather I not, Sugar. Just figured it would be good to share what's been happening with the group. I'll put up a poll: should we add the light flock?

I meant you suggested the idea of an additional flock(s)/element(s), and I said potentially the Light/Lux one. I didn't mean to step on any toes, if that was what I did. Perhaps I misspoke.

 

It's fine with me if you'd like to post the messages. I want to be clear as crystal and not mess stuff up for us.

In all honesty, I think we should add Light to the RP, but at a later date.

Of course, I'm down for the addition of the flock/element as well. I'm also fine with it not being added till later.

 

But here me out here for a sec. This was my idea for this (Lion, feel free to shoot me down; it's your RP after all.)

 

If this chara was of the Light element, but other Light element birds haven't yet come into the picture, can they still exist? Like, Hoary wouldn't be pivotal or anything to make himself extra-different. He may come across as a bland Osprey, because he doesn't have the defining features of the other Ascended Ospreys. If these other ospreys had not come across a Light Osprey before, it would be a way to keep the element out of the picture until it's more important/bearable for the RP. Like, he can still fight and such, but their wouldn't be a dedicated flock for Light (yet).

 

Again, nothing to make him too different/upset the RP. Please tell me how you all feel on this.

1. Do you have to be part of a flock?

2. Does your "type" of osprey need to be known up front?

3. I've noticed there's no backstory on anyone's forms. Is it not supposed to have anything? Or can I add non-spoilerific information there that can give some insight to my chara's situation?

4. So, Dark seems pretty cool. I know they have heightened senses, and I was wondering if this could extend into "sense of foresight." Like, my chara doesn't have future vision, by any means, but has found their way into this story due to their vaguely prophetic dreams, mostly detailing a war against their foe, interpersonal relationships, and the prospect of a revolution with the ospreys and their fate. If this isn't acceptable, or if you need context for the "power", then I'll send the info in a PM before posting it just to get shot down.

Hello there! I have been thinking about some of your questions and if someone asked, what I would say to them, so you caught me unprepared! For your backstory question, it's optional. You don't have to give it, but you can if you like! Also, this is a little off topic, but I was thinking that maybe I was going to add another feature to the rp. Maybe people could create their own element? Maybe you want to be the first to do that? Just throwing it out there. =) For your question on the dark element, I also have a question. Do you mean they could see into the future, or have visions? That's a cool idea.

I...was kinda...thinking about whether my character could possibly be of another element, but I don't want to throw off the balance going in the RP so far. Maybe have a Light element to balance the Dark? There is Fire and Ice, after all ;3

 

I kinda like the idea of the visions and stuff being a character-centric thing for my chara. Not like I want him to be super speshul or anything! He's led mostly by a sense of duty imparted on him by his vaguely prophetic dreams. He's basically been in a mental stasis for a long time, and he's coming into his destiny in this RP.
