1X1 Roleplay?

Recommended Posts

So for character sheets I think this should safic if you can think of anything else to add to it though let me know.

User name:

Name:

Gender:

Age:

Species:

Powers:

Personality:

History:

Crush/mate/kids:

Other:

Try not to leave any blank as it gives stuff for other people to work with.

What do you guys want as rules. I have a few that i would like to see for us or anyone that may join in the future.

1.) No god modeling please.

2.) Stick to what your character has. Unless it has the ability to pull random stuff out of thin air then there is no reason to be able to do it.

3.) No one liners. A couple of sentences would be nice and purple flowering is loved.

I cant think of anything else. These are somethings that ive come across in other rps that make me loose interest.

Name: Orion fillvidale

Gender: male

Age: 24

Species: air nymph

Powers: has control over air. Thats about it.

Looks: orion is fairly average standing at about 5'9" he has creme colored skin amd long white hair that has a green and blue shine to it. His face is relatively heart shaped with large expressive lavender eyes. He is lean and slender. He has one ear pierced up the side with the other ear having 3 piercings.

Personality: orion is a sweet and loving person. Many describe him as bubbly. He always see the good in others first but hes not stupid.( He wont follow some guy down a dark ally for no reason) how ever he does have a darker crazier side that usually appears when someone he has grow super emotionally attached to. But thats rare as he doesnt form attachments easily, most of what everyone sees is a sugar coat on the outside.

Other: orion likes sweet and spicy things and you will get more from him bringing candy and flowers than weapons and plans. He doesnt like the feeling of being pushed into anything.

Oh, you have a sheet idea! I had already put together something, but it's very simple since I wanted to try leaving the History and Personality fields out. I noticed that roleplayers don't tend to use them except to have a better idea of the appearance, and it's fun to improvise along the way. If you feel like it's necessary though I can put them back into the sheet. Here's what I have so far:

Character Name:

   Species:

   Appearance:

Skills: (anything from cooking to practicing magic counts)

Abilities: (any natural features that should be noted; i.e. werewolves transform in moonlight)

   Other:

I'm glad you spoke up though, I almost forgot about the rules. o: Hm... Powers and Abilities would refer to the same things, and I tend to leave out crush/mate/kids because that helps to flesh out the history, and any other relationships can be roleplayed along the way. Since there are only three of us I don't see much purpose in having the Username field, especially since I'm going to organize our sheets anyway. Adding the other fields, the sheet would look like this:

Character Name:

   Species:

   Gender:

   Age:

   Appearance:

   Skills:

   Abilities: (Powers)

   Other:

With Personality and History it would look like this:

Character Name:

   Species:

   Gender:

   Age:

   Appearance:

   Personality:

   History:

   Abilities: (Powers)

   Other:

I removed the Skills field since it was meant to serve the initial purpose of History, which was making sure people didn't give their characters arbitrary skills out of the blue, so with the History field it's not necessary. Are either of the satisfactory?

EDIT: Whoa, that sheet came out of nowhere! xd.png I'll let Anchiale decide if Orion is okay or not; I'm just OP management. You don't have to change his sheet though if we decide on another format.

History could be left out and found out later by the interaction between the characters. As for personality. I generally think its important as it gives a reason as to why a character is acting a certain way. If there generally mad all the time then its nothing new when they snap at you but if they are generally happy and they snap you would know somethings up. Given thats also something that is learned in time but I gemerally find it easier to play a character when I have the personalty reference.

We could leave it up to the individual. Like have the basic stuff and I'll go with the first one, and then if the individual play wants somethong extra that may help them or other they can add it. But everyone should have the core set of stuff. If that makes sence.

Who's going to be driving the story though.

True, and not a bad idea. I'll keep it at the basics then, and just say that fields can be added but not removed or changed.

Hm, I figured Anchiale would drive the story and we would just improvise on the details (I'm giving her OP permissions anyway, so I really am just post management despite looking like the OP). She could always make one of us do it though. xd.png Then again, the initial idea was yours, so it makes sense for you to drive the plot.

As far as driving the story, I honestly think it makes more sense for Acornia to do it, as they made the plot and thus have the best idea for it. As far as personality, mind that I almost never stick by what I put down on there, for some unprecedented reason. I'm going to be on-and-off constantly from now on, so I'll probably make my character tomorrow.

Honestly, when I do a 1x1 like this I tend to let other people take over (and while it was because some have that sort of personality, not all), since I count ten tabs that I have to get done with in a hour, and I can't really stop to think for a long time...

I guess when you guys get your sheets up we can start. is there a character limit. and how do you guys feel about a little romance in the rp. because usually one of my characters makes a romantic attachment with someone.

No character limits; I never found them useful, and I don't think we'll end up with tons of characters anyway. tongue.gif I'm fine with subtle and/or humorous romantic attachments, but for the most part I stay away from them. I'm more of a combat person.

When all three of us have at least one character to use, I presume. My writing creativity has been diverted to actual writing, so I'm developing my character a lot slower than I anticipated; I don't know where Anchiale has disappeared to though... she mentioned she didn't have much time on Mondays and Thursdays to come on the forums.

Boop. Still not sure where Anchiale is, but I finally put my character in the first post of the RP thread.; hopefully he doesn't come across as overpowered. I might make another character, but for now I just want one.

EDIT: Copy+pasting the entire OP here, including the characters. I might change the thread I made into the OP for another roleplay while I wait for you both to return.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The town of Orendale has always had its problems. From its victorious beginnings to its bitter end, it was fraught with family tragedies, pestilence, uprisings, manipulation, and was even once the no-man’s-land between two other cities. But before even all of this, there was a time, back in its beginnings, where people were trusted and everything seemed to go just fine. How did this happen? Well, peace likes to be earned, and to earn it is to understand the strife and pain of not having it… Something much more devastating than losing the year’s harvest or having a serial killer on the loose had occurred before this peace. This peace had definitely been earned.

The colonists had just won a hard-fought battle against the ogres and goblins that had controlled the area prior. The natives were still hostile to the colonists, but all of their tactics were no better than crude head-on charges; for now, they were the least of the townsfolks’ concerns. The wild beasts in the area were deadly to be sure, but they were even dumber than the goblins and ogres, unable to breach the town’s walls. The weather was promising, the seasons mild, and the lake upstream plentiful with fish. The kingdom controlling the colony cared less about it, only sending a message now and then asking about the latest export’s value. So what did the people have to face that was so awful, it surpassed the tragedy of the battle won just two generations ago? It wasn’t something that was easy to fix, I’ll tell you that right now… Heck, it wasn’t even physical to begin with.

Setting:

This may become more detailed as we roleplay. For now, I threw together some bullet facts:

  • The genre is fantasy. I’m thinking the time period is anywhere from late medieval times to the early 1700s/possibly the 1800s at the very latest.

  • The denizens in the world are placed into one of three groups: Humans, Semi-Humans, and Beasts. The Humans group obviously contains highly-adaptable humans, but also includes closely-related humanoids, such as high elves (Lord-of-the-Rings-style elves) and dwarves. The Semi-Humans are exactly what they sound like: mostly-human humanoids. They include races such as faefolk, tieflings (horned people), and fawns. Beasts are species that fit neither group but are still sentient up to a point, and include dangerous creatures such as werewolves, kitsune, and ghouls. Note that being a Beast doesn’t mean you don’t look human, but rather that you don’t have the mind of a human; Semi-Humans can look like Beasts but tend to have human-like minds.

  • Magic is uncommon. It’s easy to become a magic practitioner, but the hard part is actually having spells work perfectly, so experienced practitioners are rare. Many of the harder arts are also the darker arts, with the exception of powerful, counteracting white magic, so there is a risk to being a good mage and not also being a dark mage. Magic can be practiced in a wide variety of ways, and many mages have familiars to help them, which can range from fantasy beasts to trapped souls.

  • Orendale is in the forested foothills of a mountain range. The area is predominately deciduous, although some coniferous trees are also scattered about and grow thicker the higher the altitude, classifying it as a boreal wood. The town is nestled between two large hills, but is also slowly being built up on the smaller hills surrounding them. Just a couple of hills away runs a decent-sized stream, just deep enough in some areas to have minnows or frogs, but greater fishing opportunities can be found in the small lake further up in the mountains.

  • Orendale has one main road that runs through it, and is mostly used as a trade route. A second, much older road crosses through the town, but dead-ends in the mountains and seems to have no origin going down into the forest. It is not used and is being reclaimed by nature.

  • Carrying over the list of species from the original thread just in case; possibly a list of more common species?

Witches, vampires, werewolves, demons, angels, ghosts/spirits, goblins, elves, fairies, giants, gnomes, imps, nokkens, kobolds, gremlins, nymphs, ogres, humanoids with clothing that cover non-human parts. Adding some more: tommyknockers, ghouls, gargoyles, faefolk (basically human-sized fairies), merfolk, sirens, centaurs, fawns, minotaurs, blah de blah de blah... I doubt we'll be using half of these, but mentioning them might spark some ideas.

Rules:
  • I’m fine with violence, but this is a PG13 forum; don’t use unnecessary details.

  • Don’t godmod or powerplay. Having an experienced character or suggesting ideas is fine, but don’t jump the gun on things.

  • Don’t post one-liners. I’m picky in that a line is a string a phrases that continues until the forum pushes the remaining text below the first (in a new line) rather than a line being a full sentence, but still, that’s at least four sentences. Can’t be hard to do.

  • The roleplay is semi-literate.

  • Don’t change your character on a whim to allow it to better manage a situation. If you do feel like changing your character, a quick heads-up beforehand is appreciated.

  • Fill in every field in the basic character sheet, please. To-be-played or To-be-determined doesn’t count. Incomplete sheets will not be accepted.

-Anchiale-

-Acornia-

  Character Name: Orion fillvidale

Other: orion likes sweet and spicy things and you will get more from him bringing candy and flowers than weapons and plans. He doesnt like the feeling of being pushed into anything.

-skwerl56767-

  Character Name: Solus

Species: Malicious entity; not quite demon material, since an actual demon would just tear things apart, which isn't helpful at all... So basically a ghost of something that was never alive and isn't super friendly at first.

  Gender: Technically male

Age: A few months old; his maturity is not linked to age, so he behaves like he's much older than that. He was conjured up from the chaotic energy of a failed ritual, and has been wandering since, unable to find his "creators"

Appearance: I did draw him out, but it wasn't digital, so have a long description: Solus could be best compared to a cervine wendigo. He greatly resembles a stag, and is capable of standing both on all fours and on his rear legs. He looks like he's made out of tree trunks, roots, and stumps, all laid out to resemble the muscle structure of a stag but with the rough bark of an old oak; in some areas the "muscles" are pulled apart slightly, exposing raw bones underneath. He has a cervine skull, with the bottom jaw fused to the top to form a solid, tube-like piece. He has a set of impressive antlers and two ears resembling ragged leaves. His tree guise ends at the tail as a large stump at the end; the rest of the tail is longer like a cat's, but is only bone, which is tipped by a chunk of sharp wooden slivers like a tail club. He has jagged, broken tree "branches" or "stumps" on his shoulders, elbows, and ankles. His legs are the most peculiar: his front legs look like normal deer hooves but with the hoof toes more splayed out, and on each "wrist" is a set of four, thin fingers tipped by long claws, held up out of the way when on all fours, but pushed forward to form crude hands when on two legs. His rear legs are similar, starting out normal, but ending halfway down each foot the limbs split into three pieces, each tipped by sturdy (and also long) claws spread out in a tripod formation, giving him balance when bipedal. The rear feet do have tiny "dewclaws" resembling one of the fingers on the front feet, but they don't seem to have a purpose. Solus's odd build forces him to move slowly and deliberately, unable to run very fast yet very capable of defending himself with kicks and scratches. His coloration overal is a dull grey-brown, with streaks of dull red and black decorating the bark. The exposed bone is a definite tan color, fading to black at the tips where the bone would remain exposed on a living creature; Solus appears to be filled with some sort of black substance in the middle, making it impossible to look through him.

  Skills:

  -Moderate skills in hit-and-run combat

-High awareness and perception; he has learned to take note of everything around him

-Expansive knowledge, including in the arcane arts; however, his capabilities are severely limited based upon his power level; while he is capable of casting devastating spells, the power required for him to do it could banish him back into the ether

  -Decent deception and persuasion skills

  Abilities:

-Energy Sap: Persistent minor ability. Basic energy sapping allows him to derive small amounts of power from energy sources in the physical world (such as torches or body heat) or from energy given off by souls he passes in the ethereal plane (involves a lot of struggling and fighting, so a rare case). Negative energy sapping allows him to gain small amounts of power from negative events and emotions as long as bad memories/evidence of the event remain

-Attachment: Solus attaches himself to a thing, limiting his ability to move around but allowing him to sap more power out of whatever he's attached to. This widens his range for other capabilities, such as speech. If whatever he's attached to is separated from him - destruction of the object (including death), moved away from him while he is unable to follow, cleansed and/or exorcised of spirits, etc. - will destroy the attachment and cut off his power supply. If the object/thing is damaged, it will lessen but not break the attachment.

-Manifestation: When idle, Solus "retreats" into the ethereal plane, unable to interact with the physical world. He can choose to manifest in various ways depending on his power. With weak power, he could only talk or shift things, etc. More power means more capabilities; everything from distinct whispers to becoming fully corporeal could be done (the latter takes a lot of power, something he won't have for a while).

-Dual Occupation: Regardless of Solus's state he will always occupy the ethereal plane; only banishment (either advanced rituals such as exorcisms, or being torn apart and absorbed by a more powerful entity that is also in the ethereal plane) can force him to dissipate back into ethereal matter, essentially killing him. This state of being allows Solus to be both dead and alive at the same time, able to interact with the ethereal plane whenever, and - with enough power - able to manifest in the physical world as well. This makes Solus useful for scouting and relaying information otherwise difficult to obtain, as well as fending off other spirit entities that may threaten him or something he's attached to, although it does have its limitations: being present in both planes at once demands a lot of effort, and manifesting puts him at risk of being branded a demon and banished.

-Possession: If a living thing has low enough willpower, Solus can "jump" it and try to possess its body. It's a huge struggle depending on the willpower of the target and his own power levels, but it does give him a brief moment of physical existence, better capable of interacting with the physical world. Possession is also a tasking ability though, as even if he takes control he has to keep fighting his host in order to retain it. More often than not, possessions last no longer than ten minutes.

-Aura Manipulation: Being mostly energy, Solus can manipulate fields of "energy" in the air around him, imparting feelings with a lot more ease than manifestation or possession. These forced feelings can be felt only within a few meters of Solus's actual position, and are used mostly to influence any living things around him.

Other: Details on power: Solus derives power by either attachment, sapping basic energy, or sapping negative energy. Sapping basic energy gives him very little power; power sources include actual energy - such as electricity - and the heat given off by living things (indications of the sapping include flickering torches and cold spots). Sapping negative energy gives him a little more power, and is derived from bad thoughts, intentions, feelings, or events; this energy is always given off by living things. Attachment is a combination of both forms and gives him the most energy (still very little in comparison to how much he can have though), as it actively saps both basic and negative energy given off by whatever he's attached to. Simply existing will use up Solus's power supply along with usage of abilities, even if only a little, so in a sense Solus has to actively search for energy to "eat" otherwise he "dies" (is banished).

One last thing: Because Solus is a spectral entity, he is susceptible to magic, elemental, and spectral devices especially, everything else moderately, and physical things hardly at all. So if you burn a stick of sage, you'll really make him mad and drive him into a corner; if you throw a knife at him, it'll pass right through (unless he's corporeally-manifested). Psychic, illusionist, and other "grey arts" will still affect him, even if in some cases he isn't seen by the user of the art. Mediums are the ultimate tools agaisnt him, as they can see and interact with him regardless of his power levels or how he tries to hide; holy beings will also annoy him. So yes, if you light a black candle and force it next to him you will trap him inside the candle.

Sheet:

I left our Personality and History since it’s fun to insert hints and improvise those things along the way. If you want them (or any other fields), you are free to add them but not change or remove pre-existing fields.
