What's your favorite food and *why*?

Recommended Posts

I searched, and found a thread that hasn't been posted in for over two years. But this is a little different... I want to know *why* you love your favorite food. What is it about that food that makes your mouth water?

I've been on a sloppy joe kick the last month or so. I don't know why, exactly, because before last month I hadn't eaten them in years. It's simple to make, but it's so tasty! Something in that premade mix (Manwich) makes the meat a little... tangy? It awakens my taste buds.

I also love chocolate milk, using Nesquik powder (and using twice the recommended amount....). I love chocolate in general, but something about the specific flavor of chocolate in the Nesquik makes me want to keep coming back for more. And I love the super silky texture of the chocolate milk.

My favorite food right now is the Bumble Bee Snack on the Run Tuna Salad. It comes in a little box with crackers and a small spoon. It has 7 grams of protein and is easy to eat and tastes great. My boss's husband gave me one about a month ago and I have been eating one every day. I usually try to avoid processed foods but these are addictive.

I make a fruit smoothie every day. My favorite is watermelon with peach-cranberry juice. My other favorite is made with blueberries, strawberries, water, watermelon, and a squeeze of lime.

I can go on and on with this, food is just wub.gif

I'm always magneted towards sweets...

But from all those, I think the ones that I really, really love would be creamy fruit salad (just condensed milk, cream and canned fruits, tadaaa) and grilled salmon nigiri. I just have great memories involving those foods, and I can't help but remember those every time I eat them.

As for drinks I just love peanut butter and chocolate smoothies xd.png

Do you ever make fruit soup? It's a summertime favorite of mine.

Just puree watermelon for the base, and add diced up cucumber, apple, pear, berries, melon, whatever. Toss in a little lemon juice and some mint, and let it chill for at least a couple hours if not overnight. I love it as a cookout side dish... such a contrast from the usual potato or macaroni salads.

I've seen versions that make it more of a gazpacho, with jalapenos and tomato and onions included, but I don't care for those so much.

Anyway, my all-time favorite food has to be fresh steamed cold-water lobster or crab legs with drawn butter. There is nothing so good as that savory, slightly salty meat with butter just dripping off of it. Bonus points if you're on the New England coast and can buy the lobster straight off the boats. It's got to be cold-water lobster, though; rock lobster (most often found as ready-to-cook stuffed lobster tails) just doesn't have the same consistency or flavor.

I tried it, thanks. I made mine with watermelon, cantaloupe, strawberries, and a few slices of cucumber. It was delicious and refreshing. I'll add more cucumbers next time so I can eat my daily quota of veggies.

My favorite food today is a chocolate eclair. xd.png

I'd have to say cinnamon rolls. They're just so soft, flavorful, and sweet. Just by sight and scent alone they make my mouth water xd.png

I love anything that has sugar in it, particularly chocolate. If I wasn't worried about my weight I'd probably only eat chocolate. I really like melting the chocolate and dipping cookies in it or I'd just spoon it in my mouth, mmmmm. I also have a fondness for vanilla ice cream, it's even better when I put melted chocolate on it or caramel syrup *drools*.

Pizza is another favorite food of mine. I normally have cheese on it and no meats, but when my acid reflux is at a tolerable level I'll put bacon and ground beef on it. I absolutely love my mothers homemade pizza, it just tastes so much better than frozen or even restaurant pizzas.

My all time favorite food is sushi. I just love the rice consistency with the soya and the wasabi and the fish .. .makes my mouth water just by thinking about it. And Tempura scampi. The chili mayo just gives it such a kick.

As for drinks I´ve always been a fan of tea, earl grey with milk and sugar. It´s just something so comforting about that hot mug, and the taste makes me feel so relaxed and happy, lol. Ive also always been the biggest fan of water. I can't exactly explain why I love it so much, I just do, kinda.

And I love chocolate. because it´s just sooo good wink.gif

For favorites, it's not actually that there's one I have because there are all kinds out there. But, what I'd really like are those crunchy french breads, and they taste even better if warm.

I love pizza b/c I practically grew up on it. (Luckily for my parents, I also never had a problem eating my vegetables & fruit. So you can assume I never had a need to go on a diet.)

I love many foods, but if I had to pick my favorites, they'd have to be mul naengmyeon, pad thai, vietnamese fresh spring rolls, Chinese char siu pork, and sushi.

Mul naengmyeon is a cold Korean dish made up of buckwheat or sweet potato noodles in a chilled beef broth with vinegar and an assortment of garnishes, including kimchi, sliced beef, pear, and so forth. It's a combination of many of my favorite things: cold dishes, noodles, and sourness.

I like stir-fried noodles, and pad thai just happens to be my favorite for its delicious sauce.

I love fresh spring rolls for being a cold dish, having a combination of herbs I like (basil, cilantro, mint), containing noodles (see a theme here?) and for the fact that the dips that are typically associated with it are delicious.

The char siu (Chinese barbecue) rub is my favorite rub for flavoring meat.

I've only recently come to fully appreciate sushi, and that's because I recently moved to a city with a huge number of sushi restaurants. My favorite part of the sushi is the sweet, sticky rice, though I've even come to like raw fish.

I could name so many more...

I can't say that I have a single favourite but one of my favourites is definitely korean spicy instant noodles (the black pack, used for many instant noodle challenges). So good despite the inability to taste anything in your mouth afterwards. I'd willingly lose all feeling and control of my mouth and nose if it means getting to eat a pack of these guys.
