ANSWERED:Lift CB Valentine / Christmas Limit?

Recommended Posts

What would people think of lifting the limits on CB Valentine / Christmas dragons? <w<

Or even simply raising the limit slightly, like to 4?

I get that the reason given for them is to spread the cheer (because it lets other people catch them easier)... but are they really that hard to catch? Has anyone here had trouble catching CB Halloweens after the initial few hours rush? If not, is it that big a concern?

I also think, rather ironically, that lifting the limits would encourage gifting rather than greediness. I breed my CB Halloweens on request for others all the time, but because I only have two (or one, since I used to freeze a CB during the old limits OTL) of each Valentine / Christmas dragon, I keep these breedings for myself in most cases instead of spreading the pretties. It also seems like it's harder to find people offering CB Valentine / Christmas breedings than it is CB Halloween breedings, probably for the same reason.

I completely agree. Lifting that for Christmas and Valentines will allow users with limited pairings to breed what they want/need without fear of the only two CB holidays refusing on them with a partner dragon that could be difficult to replace. I actually had an issue where Myst and one of my other Solstices refused and it made me panic because that meant I only had one other solstice to breed with. If she refused as well I was screwed. Thankfully it worked but some of that fear would have been a little more irrelevant since I would have had 7 females to work with.

All in all support. This will encourage breeding, gifting, and many more lineages with the pretty holiday dragons.

I'm torn about this. On the one hand, I don't see the harm and wouldn't mind to get more CB Vals and Xmases. However, I also like the fact that Halloween is unique in that regard as well in the fact that Halloween dragons are available in both genders, unlike all other holiday dragons (save hollies). For reasons I can't quite put my finger on, I like the way things currently are.

I disagree. Halloween is already a 'who can trade for more dragons' fest, or even 'who has more multis' in a worst-case-scenario. That's okay, but I'd rather not spread that to the other two (already back-to-back) Holidays. Two is a decent number, and it makes it fair for everyone.

This.

I'm usually heralding the charge of "more options" but with problems discussed in other threads of the 'holiday wall' getting ever higher I don't think that removing this limit would help anything but hoarding, and that doesn't seem like a tall enough jump for this hurdle.

Yeah... I dunno... I don't support this. I like that everyone is on a level playing field when it comes to Xmas and Valentines dragons. At Halloween there are people who are able to hoard ridiculous numbers of CBs, which does give them a trading advantage. I Also like being able to relax about getting my two, and it means I don't have to decide between keeping my scroll free for unknown CBs or continuing to work on my holiday lineages during this small window of opportunity.

I could maybe support a slightly higher limit... Like, say, 4. But not an unlimited number.

I agree with this. Sure, I'd like multiple CB Valentine and Christmas dragons, but this is why I'm against lifting the limits.

Besides, I thought someone said Halloween dragons have no limits only because Halloween was supposed to be a 'hoard all the candies!' type of holiday. The other two, not so much.

I actually like the CB limit for both Valentines and Christmas, gives me more chances to hoard pretty lineages I guess since I only need 2 spaces for the release. I don't know, it's what I'm comfortable with, so I can't say I support this suggestion 100% x.x'

I'd have to say no. It does sound nice, but I like that at Christmas and Valentines, you don't have to be totally unlocked for the new release. Holidays are pretty stressful for me (DC-wise) already.

And also, Xmas and Val dragons only come in one gender, so it doesn't give you more lineage opportunities to have more, imho.

I'm... so so. On the one hand... MOAR CB DRAGUNZ! On the other hand...

I think I'd support an increase in the CB Christmas / Valentine limit to 4, but I think that's it. Even a brand new player has 4 egg slots, and 4 gives the sprite only collectors 2 adult CBs and a freezy of each stage.

4 gives more chances in case of a refusal, and more chances to spread the joy, without turning the holiday into a trade-haord-fest like Halloween. I know I spent the week after Hallween trading for more CBs. I ended up with 24. That seems like a lot... until you compare it to some people's 80+ CBs.

Cheers!

I agree with this. This is nice. I was just thinking of that as well that maybe 7 is too much and 4 sounds very reasonable.

Support. You can grab an unlimited amount of CB Halloweens, yet they're only available for 1 day--why are the much easier to obtain Christmas and Valentine's dragons available for 3?

I'd honestly be more in favor of adding a restriction on CB Halloweens, but I highly doubt that would go down well.

No. Don't limit players with slower connections and slower hands. The limit of 2 keeps it fair for all. There are PLENTY of chances to trade to create lineages.

I like this idea. biggrin.gif It would make refusals less scary.

Four also happens to be my favourite single-digit number. Totally not biased. *cough*

Ohh yes! Four sounds perfect.

You'd still have extra slots, and you have an even number!

It also lets you get up to 4th gen in a checker with only your dragons...!

I have to agree with this as well - and a lot of other peoples opinions.

I can get behind icreasing the limit to 4, but I think having a limit on the val/christmas dragons is fine, as someone mentioned; more hoarding 2nd gen pretties! ^^

Honestly, I'm either way on this one.

Yes I'd love more CBs, but if I can't have them...well I'm already used to that.

I don't see much of a problem if this was implemented either. It is quite easy to fill a scroll with CB Halloweens - so why not Xmas & Vdays?

As for the trade fest, people do that already with bred holidays. If I could get just a scroll-full, it doesn't bother me if people are hoarding 10 or 20 CBs themselves. More power to them.

But, again, are CB Holidays really that hard to catch? I've caught CB Holidays within minutes of release on one bar phone connections before, so I really don't see them being that hard to obtain.

Also having more CBs would, presumably, lead to more gifting. See my argument in the OP.

I guess just an increased limit would be a way to make things meet in the middle but I'm not sure what a good number would be.

Well if you are looking for a good number, I think C4 hit the nail on the head:

An increase to four sounds reasonable, to me, though three would technically give the sprite collectors all the sprites in CB since Vals and Christmas come in single genders.

I don't remember Valentine's day being a three day release. I have no idea why it is. Christmas I understand because of people being out of town, but... And while I haven't had an issue with catching them, every year I see people who do and have to rely on gifting. That makes me wonder how many non-forum players miss out.

I don't know. Not keen on unlimited release like Halloween, but a slight increase makes sense.

I wouldn't be opposed to having the limit increased to three or four precisely because of the whole heart attack induced by refusals thing, but a wholesale lift would probably end badly (since then they'd probably be reduced to a single day of dropping and that's not very fair to people who have obligations on those days).

I think this is a very valid argument and has totally convinced me that it shouldn't be more than 4 - if Christmas and Valentines are about sharing, how does it fit in if newer players are once more at a disadvantage?

On another note: Halloweens are unlimited, but only drop for one day. I like how Christmas and Valentine dragons drop for three days. If the limits were removed completely, the drop would have to be decreased to 2 days maximum, otherwise you could incubate, hatch and get the next batch of holiday eggs.

In no way do I want to sacrifice the 3-days-drop to getting unlimited holidays.

So I'm neutral about rising the limit to 3 or 4, but I'm against anything >4.
