Hatchlings

"I see. It reminds me of one of the games that the human kids would play. Something about not touching the ground and trying to get to a certain location. I was a common object they would jump on, though I would deal with it, as they were just trying to have fun." Fenix laughed at the notion that the training reminded him of a game.

"Of course, the more the merrier." Callaina told Kadaen.

She redirected her attention to the gathering hatchlings.

"Alright, today we try the logs again. If you make it in one go, you'll move into Scuta's group. If not you'll stay with me and we'll work on your power more.

Scuta, still waiting for Blanchia's response, turned his attention to the gathering young ones, and one or two new people.

Crusher nodded and waited for them to start. He looked at Tetra and gave a nod to show he knew she could do it. A little encouragement. He looked at Callaina encase she wanted anyone specific to go first.

Stoneza smiled a little "This is no game though." he said.

"No, not ye. I was going to rally them u..." He paused. "What happened to you? It looks like you fell through a mile of thorn bushes!"

She was cut, bruised and scabbed. Which was odd, seeing as only an hour ago she was perfectly fine.

"Fine then, I'll entertain this." Jink replied. "My name is Jink Usque, I'm here to enact vengeance. And what of you?"

The nebula seemed to looking him over. He did the same. It popped into his head how this one had no forearms, and simply had wings sprouting from where they would be. He thought this was weird, but then again, he used his own species, Spitfire, as the norm.

Blanchia smiled at Scuta. "Something like that." she said wittily, her eyes glittering as she remembered the effort she'd put into her short hour of training and how far she'd gotten. She was proud at having achieved something for herself through her own means and without healing herself. In this time of training, the calm before the storm, she could afford to be everything but the White and the nature which comes bound with it by eons of genes and history; all of which are peace-filled and majestic. "So," she said, taking off from where he'd cut his sentence. "You were going to rally them up, yes?"

Archer finally allowed a minute expression to pull over his disinterested mask, a faint smile tugging at his lips, threatening to unveil his gleaming white teeth to his utter amusement with this dragon."Jink Usque." Repeated Archer, tasting the name on his lips with a flick of his tongue taking the flavor away. "Archer Neulle, bas. tard son and lone dragon; to answer you early question as to what it is I'm doing here. In other words, I'm exiled." Archer, for a brief moment flashed many emotions, they flickered like a candle's flame in an open window. Anger, regret, remorse, hatred; many vile emotions towards the leader of his clan who had exiled him for his mother's love of another Nebula; he who Archer is named for.

After a while Evil Crusher felt the sun on his plates as they warmed up. He kept his focus though focusing on the sound letting his healer keep his own emotions at bay. Not much was going on as he continued to improve slowly but sure. Though the thought of wondering when he would get it fully sometimes pop up.

"I think they're good, they're coming in. Let's start then, but how about we move off a bit? The field is only so big. Also, have you seen Ren anywhere?" He said as he stood up and moved farther down the field away from the logs.

"Archer." Jink aid repeating the name. "It seems we're in the same boat then. My clan isn't exactly the friendliest one, seeing as they're dead."

He didn't have much more to say to the dragon. And no desire to befriend it.

She nodded in affirmation and as well in agreement. Suddenly, her practice field popped into her mind, surely it was plenty large enough but then, she wondered if the dragons would be willing to make the mild length flight there and then back once they'd become exhausted from training. "Scuta," she said uncertainly and unable to go on unless prompted, fully willing to let the thoughts die with her voice right then and there. She secretly hoped, though, that he'd ask her to go on; she expected it.

Archer was shocked by the scoff that came from him, his jaws clicking slightly in such distaste that words slipped passed his teeth steeped thoroughly in it's venom, "I wish my clan were dead..." Apart from one, he finished in his mind reminded of his mother.

Many things were uninteresting to Archer but something in familiarity between he and this 'Jink' made him curious. He wanted to know more but he could not say so, his character would not bid him to unless given good reason. Instead, Archer watched with an expression of both wonder and mild disinterest, clearly not willing to admit his meddlesome tendencies, or simply not able to.

"Well if you have no further business, and you won't be attacking me, I'll be on my way then." Jink said as he made his way back to the trail.

((One sided-conversation is one-sided :C ))

"Yes?" Scuta asked her as she said his name. "What is it?"

As he said this he stopped moving and pawed the ground. Unlike when Ren does it, he was breaking through the coat of grass down to the dirt. He needed to get a little grip before the practice and morning dew still covered the grass.

((Craaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaap I completely forgot what Blanchia was gonna say!!! F.M.L.))

Blanchia looked up quickly, glad for his taking the 'bait'. "Well, for the hour that I was gone, I was training...it's a large clearing just west of here...flying is the preferred source of travel if you'd like to go there for today's training session?" (Bwahahaha -remembered-) Blanchia noticed his claws digging into the earth and she had to force herself from giving in to the urge to do the same; her claws had begun to move on their own without her knowledge.

Archer frowned internally, he wasn't done yet. Since he didn't feel like talking much he rolled his wings back to lift his armless chest from the ground, his wing 'thumbs' coming down at his sides like the fore appendages he lacked and began to walk. He was entirely mute as he followed the dragon like it was the most casual, normal thing in the world.

((I love Archer x.x))

"Well I suppose we could head over. They'll likely have another menial task again, but if we head somewhere else we have to wait for whoever, if any make it over the logs again." He replied. "While we're waiting, throw a good attack at me, we'll start early."

Jink wasn't bothered by the new dragon, he kept walking, occasionally sniffing the air hoping his olfactory sense would pick up Scuta's scent. He grunted when he found it but lost it immediately, he had blasted past there. Closer.

Seeing as there trainer once again was just sitting there Crusher went and did the course. This time it was easy if not a little too easy. He was able to make last time if he did not miss jump off tot he side. Now it was a case of over shooting a little. It was nice to see some of his muscle back but keeping it so he could land on the log not in front.

Blanchia nodded, it certainly wasn't a 'no'. She had thought to simply stare out in the open when Scuta suggested she attack him for early training while the awaited the completion of the course for the others. Blanchia was startled and she looked at him like he was entirely insane. "You can't actually mean...." Well, wait, that's stupid, of course he means it,"but....I....." Blanchia frowned, she'd said she'd do anything to train and learn what she could to be able to defend herself, and it wasn't like she'd actually be able to hit him. But still, she thought worriedly, I don't have it in me to actually attack."I know!" She said, breaking out of her thoughts. "You attack me instead! I mean, after all I'm wanting to learn defensive not offensive tactics."

--------

Archer watched as he always did, it was clear the dragon was looking for something and he knew 'who' but he didn't know 'why'. He felt like he wanted to know but still, he didn't feel like speaking. Giving a mental shrug he continued to follow Jink in silence, keeping his thoughts curiosities to himself.

"Don't worry, you won't hurt me, I'm going to teach you how to block attacks by demonstration. You attack me, I'll block or parry it, and then we'll reverse roles. We'll continue this until I feel like you have it, and then we'll spar. You don't have to fight back in the spar if you don't like." He explained. "It's simply a test of the day's work."

Jink came across the scent again but unfortunately it went straight up, into the wind, so it was useless.

"Well if your going to be following me you could at least help me track this scent." He told Archer. "Right here, where my claw is, it's strong but it moves into an airstream."

He waved his fore-claw where the scent was the strongest.

Blanchia was uncertain but she easily caved under his reasonable explanation. For a moment Blanchia went still, she'd long ago reclaimed her staff upon returning to the cave and she used it now to heal herself so she wouldn't have any handicaps on her first real-time practice. Once the scales and skin regenerated and her bruised muscles revived she gingerly laid her staff down against a sturdy tree, it's staff tangled in the mess of roots at the tree's base.

"Alright," she said with a certain resolution. "I'm ready."

Despite her words Blanchia was eerily still for a few moments as she gouged the distance between she and her opponent; suddenly Scuta was no longer a living breathing being of flesh and blood but a boulder that she must once again reach no matter the effort it mat take at her expense. Finally ready her muscles twitched a full second before she moved, giving her actions away easily. As an amateur she had yet to hide those little suggestions, though she did have sense enough to use a feint attack.

All at once her body surged for Scuta's left side but just as she came within a hairs breadth she crossed her neck to his right and bent it low, meaning to ram the broadside of her neck and shoulder into his collar.

----------

Archer found sense in the dragon's words so he complied, he walked over to the spot that Jink gestured to and caught the scent which he spoke of. Rather than just the smell he concentrated his eyes on the wind. Time seemed to freeze as his eyes dilated to adjust to the incredible invisibility of the air which surged just passed the place of the scent. He could see the world wrap around those invisible currents and his eyes followed them in slow motion though in reality it was fast enough to make his eyes seem unmoving and fixated only on one spot.

He looked up at Jink and gestured in their South Easterly direction with no words, just a simple, slow and meaningfully move of his head shifting in the direction and staring hard into the trees that lined the area. He waited for Jink to respond, should he not, Archer was prepared to move to encourage him.

Scuta, who hadn't expected an attack like this, but rather a claw strike, responded on the fly. He ducked the headbutt, and as her body's momentum carried her over him, he took advantage and lightly punched her underbelly, signaling a strike-zone, and that he intended for a hit to go there. He, having sped his perception up a bit, causing the world to slow down (a non-moving version of his power), waited for her to land and then he would replicate the attack after she was ready.

((I think I need to come up with an explanation as to how his power works...))

Jink nodded, continuing the silence, and moved that way. This one seemed to be relatively useful. Seeing as he over-shot his destination by quite a bit.

((What about those who can break the sound barrier and travel faster than light on occasion? And is frozen as a winged hatchling? Checkmate? xd.png ))

(It is a paradise that is protected by a force field like protection, so even if they did travel that fast they would be rebounded back into the forest.((Perhaps you would not be able to interpret that, as the mind can only make things from substances we know of. What about colors that we have never seen before? We won't know what they will look like because we are used to the colors here. Its like that.)) And who is a frozen hatchling? I was playing ren, not Shiel. Therefore --Not checkmate!!)

Blanchia was hardly phased, she'd more than expected him to dodge and was well prepared for his attack though not quite as much as she'd thought.

Her own hit didn't place it's mark but she didn't intend it to, her body followed up with the moment gracefully lifting her body over Scuta as he dodged the blow. Trying to take advantage of her 'apparent' lack of fighting knowledge, he didn't see that, by having turned so suddenly in the midst of a frontal attack, her body was now starting a spin as it came over him. His blow came to her shoulder, missing her tender belly. She wasn't a very good fighter but as a healer she'd seen many wounds on dragon's an knew where their weaker points were; she'd demonstrated her vast expanse of the knowledge of bodies when she'd taken down that buffalo. The blow stung due to the spinning which added a collision between flesh and flesh in the worst possible way, like two opposing forces turning to meet each other from opposite directions and hitting at once, and it happened to be the same arm that was injured moments before. Go figure.

Landing on the ground awkwardly shifted by the force of the blow, however little it was, it had shaken her and her form had become unstable. Dust stirred about her feet and grass tore beneath her gripping talons. Blanchia looked at Scuta and had to blink as if her eyes had momentarily gone out of focus as a result of his strange power (which she had not clued into yet.)

Not willing to leave things as they were or give herself time to recover both physically and mentally, she went for him again, a second feint attack but this time she leaped in front of him, her body possibly so close to his he'd feel the tension of the air passing between them as she took to the branches above his head.

Archer followed after the dragon somewhat feeling like the brain behind the bronze. In some small way that both suited him well and offended his male pride, wherever it was hiding.
