Ever spoiled Katniss Everdeen.

Oh, be fair.

When she's eleven she becomes the sole breadwinner for her family with no income.

When she's sixteen the only person she really loves is chosen to go fight twenty three other children to the death, and she chooses to take her place.

After the first Games she has to pretend to be in love with a guy she didn't even know before the Games so that the Capitol doesn't kill everyone she cares about.

She's sent back into the Games, this time with no hope at all of surviving.

Her home is destroyed.

Spoiler: Her sister is murdered in a firebombing that also leaves her permanently scarred.

And you're calling her spoiled because she's got two boys that like her? xd.png

Spoilers:

Funnygirl98- Because every time she sees him, she'll think about how he most likely designed the trap that killed her sister? Because the course of the Games and the war caused Gale and Katniss to grow into people who really weren't all that compatible anymore?

I started reading the series back when Catching Fire first came out, but only just read Mockingjay like a week ago. It was so sad, but I thought it was still great c:

I'm really excited for the movie; every time I see the trailer for it on tv I have a mini heart-attack and get chills all over <3

I wasn't really team Peeta or team Gale, I guess I just sort of kept reading to see what happened without picking a side. In the end I was happy with who she chose, though. He's a sweety <3

Just bought first in the trilogy today. I've heard a lot of good things about it (from friends and even teachers), so I figured I'd give it a try.

I'm not reading it until I own the other two, though. I get frustrated when I finish a book in a series and I have to wait x amount of days/weeks/months/years before I can read the next one. XD

I was with the series from the very beginning. biggrin.gif My school librarian bought the first book as soon it was released, saying she was just at a librarian convention amd they were saying The Hunger Games would be the next big thing, and she insisted I read it. And it was good. At the time, I was the same age as Katniss and my sister the same age as Prim/Rue, so I especially felt an emotional connection to the book. It's one of the few books that has ever made me cry.

Anxious for the movie. I'm going to a midnight premeire (first midnight showing I'll have ever been at). I'm going to take a trip to the mall on Monday and get a shirt (though probably not a pin; I'm spending other money this week too.) I might leave my hair down, because everyone's going to have their hair braided, and that's a Katniss thing, not a Foxface thing (I have red hair).

i read the first book about a week ago and all I can say is that will have to work fairly hard to completely destroy the movie based on the book. With that being said I think this will be the first book to movie movie that I will have enjoyed in quite some time.

I'm going to pre-order my tickets later today at the mall~ c:

My boyfriend thinks the movie looks dumb and that the books are dumb (he's not much of a reader, and isn't into fantasy stuff), so I'm hoping he actually enjoys the movie. The plot is amazing and the characters are too perfect, it'd be almost impossible not to love the movie. I guess it all just comes down to how the director projects it; but so far it's gotten nothing but perfect reviews on Rotten Tomatoes~

When the book was new, my brother read it for summer reading at school and then had me read it. I loved it and now I'm going to the midnight premier with a few friends, bought my tickets a week ago happy.gif. Now all there is to it is to wait.

I love the book so much. I think I read all three of them in a few days I was so addicted. The first book was my favorite one. I can't wait for the movie to come out! I wanted to go to the midnight premier so bad, but my parents were like 'But don't you have to study or something?' dry.gif

I'm going to see the movie with my friend tomorrow (I think) <3

I'd really love it if Suzanne made a book of short stories that give backgrounds to some of the characters... Like how Finnick and Annie fell in love, or what went on in Haymitch and Maysilee's games. It's definitely something I'd get <3

This x9001! I'd love to see more of Beetee and Wiress! [/forever a fangirl]

I'm a bit late here, but I saw the movie at the midnight premiere. It was pretty true to the book, though they did leave stuff out. And there were a few things they changed that just bugged me. But overall it was really good. I wasn't disappointed!

Also got a pic with some fans who dressed up: http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t30/Moo...ms95picture.jpg

In order they're Peeta, Katniss, Effie (?), Haymitch, and me as Beetee. I'm holding up some wire, that's why I'm kind of in a wonky position. xd.png

I got the books yesterday, and I'm starting on Mocking Jay as we speak!

We're going to see the movie on monday, so I'm glad I was able to read the books before we go, so I can have an idea of whats happening and see how they compare. Can't wait!

By the way, whats everyone's opinion on the movie?

I saw the book at a large store and started reading from the middle. I couldn't put it down. But the same thing did not happen to me when I picked up the second and the third books. I might have been in the wrong mood maybe, I mean, wrong for reading. BUT. I've just seen the movie, and I like how it came out. It is different and verbatim at the same time, and even the changes make sense. I doubt I will stand reading the other books, though. I can't wait that long for the movies. (And what? Mockingjay would be divided into two parts like Harry Potter 7 was? Odd. )

But the camera was as shaky as if Haymitch was holding it all the time biggrin.gif

----MOVIE SPOILERS----

Meh, to me Madge was always a bit of a throw-away character, so I wasn't at all surprised that she didn't appear in the movie.

As for not showing much of the gore that the book held... I think it's different to read a story about kids killing each other and actually seeing them do it. They wanted to get the point across without horrifying people too much. It's PG-13, after all. I wasn't expecting a whole lot on the gore front.

The Mutts were a huge disappointment to me, as well. I was waiting for them to come out and be so terrifying, and then they were just kind of funny looking dogs...

The camera work was the most annoying bit. It kinda made sense for scenes like the bloodbath, but the opening? Where they're just showing shots of District 12? The shaky cam was just annoying and distracting.

Finally saw the movie today, I loved it <3

I thought it got all the key points of the book across, and that it was a great rendition of the book. Can't wait for the second to come out to see how they do on that one~

I did love the movie. I think they stayed true to the book. Everything added was needed to understand if you hadn't understood the book (and helped the transition from first person to third person) and everything excluded wasn't really important.

The mutts were a little, weak. I think they had a bad CGI budget or something because they were poorly rendered.

On the other hand, the tracker jackers were done great, I got itchy looking at them.

The shaky camera was a bit much. I get motion sickness pretty bad but I was pre-warned of it and took some dramamine to make it through.

Also, North Carolina is gorgeous. I absolutely loved that they picked such a natural, pretty place. And if you listened they kept a lot of the natural/native sounds - things like doves, cicadas, ect.

I did love the movie, but I think I have to disagree. They left out one part that made me mad.

WARNING!!!! SPOILERS!!!!! (highlight it)

They left out the part at the end, where Katniss tells Peeta that she was only kissing him for food, medicine, and sponsors. After that they get angry at each other. I think that was a very important part in the book.

If they don't include that part, there isn't much reason for the second book.

That is true (I was just getting dizzy by that point and forgot about it, but on reminder that did bother me). I kept expecting them to show it...

Hopefully they will touch base with it in the second movie.

I saw the movie last friday, actually got out of school to see it. Our school decided the first fifty people to read the book and make a 100 on a test on it would have a free field trip to the movies. Thing is, I don't remember a lot of things because I last read it two years ago. But hey, at least tests taken so long ago actually counted xd.png

So yeah, the movie. It was actually very good compared to most books to their movies. Pretty much the only thing I didn't like is that Haymitch never fell off the stage and got knocked unconscious. sad.gif

Everyone there had a heart attack when the mutt first jumped out, though, it was pretty flippin' hilarious.

Another thing that got me was the cornucopia... wasn't it supposed to be gold and not so oddly shaped?

/only paying attention to things that really don't matter to the story
