This thread is for help and suggestions concerning viewbombing, please check the end of the thread, and read carefully if you post. And no, it's not just traffic wink.gif

So I logged on to dragcave today, and I noticed that my red hatchling, Serenity, was sick. I've never had a sick hatchling before, but I figured that there must have been some extra traffic on AoND, from all the new dragons. I fogged her, incubated a cap, and grabbed a new egg.

After about an hour, Serenity was okay, but I decided to leave her fogged in case she had a little "relapse" I guess. Unfortunately, my Magma Vaho, and my Thunder Zeck, were both sick! I fogged them, and my silver tinsel hatchling as well, and started checking other hatcheries, and lo and behold, I was everywhere! I started removing my dragons from the hatcheries, I fogged all my hatchlings, and I hid my scroll.

I didn't rip anybody off, and I try not to be rude, the sick dragons were all bred by me, the tinsel was caught from the AP, and you can't even view my scroll from a dragon's page. I didn't purposely destroy a lineage or anything like that. So why did this happen?

I'm not sure if my Magma is even gonna pull through, and I was so happy about him.

Anybody have any suggestions for why this could have happened? sad.gif

(Thankfully, all the above mentioned dragons pulled through)

Some people just like to 'play around' and try to kill rare dragons on other people's scrolls for fun.

My suggestion is just leave them all fogged until they are ready to grow up/hatch, or hide your scroll.

I suggest keeping your eggs and hatchlings fogged completely until they hit a far safer time, such as when they go below 4 days. If you're going away from the computer for any long length of time then hide your scroll as well so people cannot access your eggs and hatchies.

Some people are just mean when it comes to viewbombing but there are also cases where it's someone who thinks they're trying to help but end up doing harm instead.

Hope your hatchies pull through sad.gif

It's probably some jealous person, I suppose...Also, there's a new release going on, so there's going to be a lot of views coming in.

There's a ton of traffic going through the hatcheries right now, which is giving everything way more views than normal. How many hatcheries did you have them in? Even just AoND alone is getting a lot of traffic lately, as it's one of the more popular sites. It's possible they just got naturally overloaded rather than attacked. You can check this by grabbing a fresh CB egg, not adding it anywhere for a day, and seeing if it still gets massive amounts of views. If it does, you're being attacked; if not, it's just the increased traffic.

Hatcheries are overly busy right now. My suggestion would be to only post new eggs to DDF or EDS until they have been on your scroll for 24 hours. Then start adding them to more fansites.

The thing is that Delira is saying someone put her scroll in many hatcheries, it wasn't herself doing that, so there's got to be someone actually attacking. That's one real problem with hatcheries, anyone can do whatever they want once they know your scroll name. I wish all hatcheries worked with accounts, not dragcave's account pf course but something that required a bit more of effort to put your scroll in them.

She already posted that she only used one hatchery, but she found them posted on several hatcheries. It looks like she is actually getting "help".

What you can do:

1.Hide your scroll.

2.Add your eggs to a hatchery only while you are on your computer so you can keep an eye on them.

3.Fog your eggs/hatchlings when you are away from the computer for long periods.

When this happened to me, I kept my scroll hidden for about a month. By then the person responsible lost interest in me.

Some people with this problem will just keep their eggs/hatchlings hidden til the time gets below 4 days then ER to hatch/mature, so their eggs/hatchlings aren't exposed to these people at all. Good luck with this, I know how distressing it can be.

Unfortunately, nothing you can do about that. It may have been malicious, it may not have been. Either way, you're just going to have to keep your eggs/hatchlings fogged for a while. Most hatcheries, once you've fogged, will remove your eggs from the hatchery within 1 hour-1 day. Just keep them all fogged until they're close to 4 days and you should be fine.

My bad, I didn't notice >___<

Indeed, taking protective measures are all you really can do. Good luck! sad.gif

Hopefully your eggs and hatchlings pull through. sad.gif

Someone was doing this to me not very long ago and a lot of my eggs were getting sick as well, someone was kind enough to check some hatcheries for me and they were being put in about six different ones while I normally only use AoND as well.

I made sure to fog my sick ones, removed them from all of the hatcheries I don't use, and hid my scroll for a couple of days.

So far no one has touched my scroll again, so you should give that a try as well.

Everybody is healthy again, I'm going to just have to keep a very close eye. I fogged everything except for Serenity, because she's an ER now. Hopefully that'll be enough. Thanks everybody.

I guess I have to be removed from that shimmer list though, since I'll be fogging and hiding my scroll on a regular basis. I wonder if maybe that had something to do with it? That'd be awful D:

If you're on some sort of list I would PM the mods of the thread so that they are aware of your situation. A lot of people on DC are understanding and they may be willing to work with you smile.gif

I'd pm the shimmer owner and see if they'd write a note about your situation. In the event you do have to be removed pm me, I may be able to breed you one after the chaos of the new release

Your situation makes me so angry! I'm sorry it's happening at all, and I hope everything works out for you!

If you lose a tinsel, let me know, I have both Bronze and Silver to breed.

I have tinsels of my own, I was just going to gift that one if it gendered right, and freeze it if it didn't, thanks though.

The shimmer list was a thread though, and it seemed strict. I posted about it, but I don't think I can stay on the list.

I hope they let you. I think they'll understand, if you link them to this thread. Best of luck!

Just tell them to PM you when they want to check your scroll and you'll unhide it for them then. No one will be able to kill your dragons in the brief window of time you leave the scroll unhidden for them to check. :-)

Thankfully (and luckily) I've never been viewbombed. I've no idea how someone would viewbomb a hidden scroll full of bred eggs, but I'm sorry that happened to you. If you lose your Magma let me know, I'll breed you a 2G PB to replace it.

I've been having the same problem with eggs/hatchlings getting sick. Two of the new eggs I grabbed last night got sick, I fogged them, went outside for a few minutes, and when I came back both fogged eggs were dead. Drat. Guess I'll have to hide my scroll AGAIN. dry.gif

Hopefully things will get better in a few days when the hatcheries aren't so crazy.

Remember, during new releases the hatcheries get more traffic. The things you normally do with eggs can cause them to get sick when the traffic is greater than you are used to. You have to watch more carefully, and while during regular times you might be able to post eggs immediately, during high traffic times it is a good idea to wait several hours before posting them.

I'd also be careful which hatcheries you use.

For example, much as I like Soti's, they post the scroll name beside eggs and hatchies, so anybody could see your shiny, follow it back to your scroll, and say, "Oh, her other shinies aren't getting any views--LEMME HELP THAT." (Goatee version: "So many shinies. Grrr. LEMME FIX THAT.")

Actually, hatcheries *could* work with DC accounts. Have a look at EatW's trade page, there you see an example of how a fansite can verify your DC account without having your password in its own database, or without you having to register at the fansite.

Fansites that use the DC api could add this easily, but I suppose they don't want people to have to enter their passwords first every time.

Oh I know that, but I've been having problems for a while now. For the longest time there were no problems then suddenly I was having to fog almost everything on my scroll because it was sick.

Sorry this is happening to you, hon! If you do get removed from the list, PM me- I still have yet to gift the first offspring from the Silver Shimmer I received, and I'd be more than happy to gift it to you!
