Pokemon Spinoffs

Recommended Posts

Yes, I got the go-ahead before makin' one. :3

Pokemon Side Games! Myself, I'm really only familiar with the Ranger and Mystery Dungeon series, as well as the old Stadium games (been AGES), Snap, and Revolution.

I rather enjoy the Ranger games, I think it's an interesting twist to the traditional gameplay.

But I really love the Mystery Dungeon spinoffs. I'm super excited for the new one that's coming to America and I'm kinda sad I'll most likely be out of state and thus not able to get my copy on release day.

So, what's everybody else's favorite spinoff series/game?

Pokemon Trozei. I've always loved puzzle games, so when I saw Trozei I said "It's Tetris with Pokemon! I've got to have this!"

I also liked Pokemon Pinball; it was enjoyable getting Pokemon through a pinball machine, but it made evolving them so much harder. blink.gif

Mystery Dungeon, are my favourite spin-offs as well, but I liked Pokemon Rumble Blast.

Which is why I'm looking forward to Pokemon Scramble U on the, well, Wii U!

What I really loved about Mystery dungeon was how it has a deeper story than the main games. In Explorers, you really feel connected to your partner, And that makes the ending [spoilerS] that much better, because not only is it a tearfull godbye, it is the death of the main character! This was way deeper than the ending of Rescue team, when you decide yourself not to leave. You can't controll what happens this time, and it's only through literal divine intervrntion that you are restored.

Haha, I can't believe I forgot Pinball and Trozei. xd.png I love Trozei, too.

And yeah, the second series of MD games were definitely more emotionally intense than the first ones.

I WANT a Pokemon Snap remade for 3DS PLEASE.

Can't believe I forgot about the sidegames.

Anyone know of one that was called something like Pokemon Puzzle Tower? It was a match 3/Tetris type game and when you got far enough the flat board became a cylinder. I want to say it was PS2 but I have no idea for sure.

PMD and Ranger are definetly my favorites. Especially the Primal Dialga in PMD. Why did you have to transform into a normal Dialga again?

I hate the new PMD graphics; what happened to our cute sprites?

Yesyesyesyesyesyes.

I remember a puzzle tetris game of sorts on the N64.

EDIT: I'm coding a pokemon turn-based RPG right now, of course thats my favourite ^^

Nix, do you mean Pokemon Puzzle League for the N64? There's no way it would be on the PS2 since Pokemon is a Nintendo franchise and they wouldn't dare let Sony have the rights to it long enough to make a game for it on their best-selling system of that era. I did see a lot of Pokemon box art for the PS2 when I googled it, though, people are creative.

ooh! LOVE PMD! I have one of both. The ranger games are cool.... The Pokemon Pinchers though are WAAAAYYY worse than the other series ones. I mean, making them dissapear? I dont like how your STUCK with Ukelele Pichu. Annoying. Your partner is usually always an electric type...

I love Mystery Dungeon. Sooo excited for the 3DS one.

I played Stadium recently, but my Transfer Paks won't work anymore...so I'm stuck with rental Pokemon. I can't get past the Prime Cup Master Ball final battle...they guy has a Mew. .___.

Unless Stadium's Mew is crazy then you should be fine. Mew isn't that overpowered, it can just use lots of things.

I've battled the Mew 4 or 5 times and I just can't beat it with rental Pokemon.

I'd use my own, but the Transfer Pak doesn't want to work.

Stadium 2's Prime Cup final battle had a Mew as well, I think. I couldn't beat that one either. I wish I could use my own 'mons. :c

Mystery Dungeons and the Ranger games. I just finished Guardian signs (for like the 5th time, heh) and I just love how you can Fly on Latias (or on Staraptor) and actually navigate through the sky and catch bird pokemon in mid-air. Oh, and riding on Entei/Raikou/Suicune is super cool too. I think I liked Shadows of Almia's story a little better, though, as well as being able to have some choice of your partner Pokemon. I like little Ukulele Pichu (omg adorbs), but Almia's selection made me a little happier.

Trozei was okay. I wasn't too impressed with it, though I thought the art for it was so precious. <3

I love playing Battle Revolution for the graphics, hahaha. Copying over my favorite Pokemon was fun and getting to see them really battle.

I didn't really like Battle Revolution, it's the only Pokemon game I've ever traded in.

But OMG, I would LOVE a Snap remake. Or a new Snap game. That would just be AMAZING.

I don't like what they are doing with the new MD, apparently only 114 or so of the 600+ Pokemon are actually in the game. I hope it isn't true, but it seems sadly believable. sad.gif

I didn't think it was that old lol.

What, no one's talking about Pokemon Conquest? The shame! I'm playing it right now and I'm having so much fun on it. Though I do love the Pokemon aspect I'm pretty satisfied that humans play a much larger role. It's doing what I've wanted to do for a long, long time now... taking over Japan with the use of pokemon. The gameplay is strategic and fun and I've managed to take down much stronger pokemon by using my wit to lure them into traps, something you can't do in a normal pokemon game.

Aside from that, PMD has been the biggest uplift in my respect for pokemon since they released the Sinnoh region (Yeah, I'm too old school...), and I replayed the last four games like the world was gonna end so many times. I love the sprite style, but I have a bad feeling that I'm going to be stabbed in the heart upon seeing mostly Unova pokemon and no use of sprites- only CGI. All my friends know how horribly I take to CGI, I find it lazy and ugly.

I've never played Conquest--I hear great things about it, but I'm terrible at those sorts of games. xd.png

It looks like Serebii says it's mostly Unova Pokemon in the new MD game, but there IS a good number of older Pokemon, too, IMO.

When I was younger I used to have Pokemon XD on the Gamecube and I loved it :3 Sure only certain pokemon were available but it was the first 3D Pokemon game I played. Plus you had Eevee as a starter :D

I also like the Mystery Dungeon games :3 Granted I only ever played one but it was sooo awesome XD

I couldn't ever get past the area full of what I think were ground/dragon types up to "I think" Groudon (its been a long time, i dont remember the details). But your spoiler makes me really not want to finish. ._.

As for a spin off I love, the Poképark Wii games, yes! I enjoy any pokemon game that lets me see them in 3d in their natural environment (like Pokémon Snap did) and I liked becoming friends with some of the pokes from my own team! Beat it in 2 days!

I don't have Wonders Beyond, but I do have Pikachu's Adventure. I beat it in one sitting. X3

I was just waaaaayyy too addicted to it. I did enjoy it, though.

Also, you have to finish Mystery Dungeon! D: It's a good game. I came really close to crying at the end.

Hey everyone with a 3DS, there's a free demo of the new Mystery Dungeon game in the eshop today. It's a play through of the beginning of the game. Great thing is you can use the save data for the full game later on.

It is, fantastic so far! The graphics look really great. I wish there had been more beginning choices of pokemon but it's pretty good so far so I can forgive it.

I'm an Axew and my partner is Oshawott.
