Childhood games!

Recommended Posts

Did you play any games when you were young? Any special game that changed you forever when you where a kid? Share it with us!

When I was young, I played a lot of pokemon heartgold. I will always remember my original team, and the hundreds of hours I played on it (before the save file corrupted ;-; ). It also really helped me learn english, as my parents had the brilliant idea to not look in what language the game was. Speaking of nostalgia, anyone remembers that?: alot.png

Sonic 3&Knuckles. Which was one of my first ever game. I remember I couldn't beat first middle-boss those days. I didn't played that game for years but when I was elementry school, that game was became famous in class for somewhat reason. I installed them on windows 98 at that days and its BGM was sounds like chiptune. I liked those music so I still run those game in virtual machine that windows 98 was installed. (BGM of that was different on windows XP or 7 and that was maybe actual sound that they want to play though.) Edited by sh20000sh

Pajama Sam and Freddie Fish were my favorite. I'd love to play them again, but they don't have Mac versions. =(

I played all of the Spyro games, and all of the Crash Bandicoot games to 100% completion happy.gif

I also remember playing a lot of the old Tony Hawk games... probably fueled the fact that I enjoy Skateboarding even still xd.png

Donkey Kong Country was one of my favorite games as a kid, as well as the sequels.

I also loved the Lion King game I had at the time.

Man I miss these games.

Having grown up on a computer instead of a console, I played various DOS games as a kid, even the adult-rated ones (pixel blood never bothered me apparently). Mostly Wolf3D, Doom and the popular clones, namely Heretic, Duke3D and Blood. Gosh, Blood gave me a few nightmares back then but it was so much fun and still is. ;p

I also remember playing Jazz Jackrabbit (never got too far because I didn't know the cheat codes), and a little Czech puzzle game called Vlak (Train) that was based on Snake. That one was fun, you had to collect all the items on screen and then exit the level, and it usually involved very precise paths.

I'm not quite sure which one was my favorite back then, I was quite fond of all of them. I still play most of them these days, not even out of nostalgia, I just genuinely enjoy them.

I also remember my 10 year old self absolutely begging for the Nintendogs game for my birthday... as well as a nintendo ds.

I played the heck out of Super Mario 64, Barbie Riding Club, and Oregon Trail 3 as a wee bab. I also remember Sonic the Hedgehog for Sega and Robocop 2 for SNES. I would say the first time a game really had an effect on me though was when I started playing games on PS2 and XBox like Final Fantasy X, Gallop Racer, and Halo.

Of course I also grew up on Pokemon RBY and basically played GSC until my cartridges died.

I have quite a few childhood games.

Super Mario World, Super Adventure Island and Dennis the Menace were my very first games that I got. My parents saved up all their money to buy my sister and I a Super Nintendo. We play the heck out of that gaming system.

Sonic 3 and Knuckles was another childhood game of mine. My best friend at the time gave me his Sega Genesis because he didn't want it anymore. He had 5 or 6 games for it and Sonic 3 and Knuckles was one of them. I played that game so much as a kid, it was one of my favorites.

Last but not least, Pokemon and Digimon World. I've been addicted to Pokemon games ever since I bought a copy of Pokemon Blue with my birthday money. My cousin gave me his really old Gameboy and helped start me on my Pokemon obsession. Digimon World was another of my favorite games. My cousin had it on his Playstation and he let me play with it. I remember trying(and failing) to get my Agumon to digivolve into Greymon, I always got Numemon xd.png.

There were a lot more video games but these ones stick out to me the most.

My childhood (actually teenhood) game was Spyro 2 Gateaway to Glimmer (PS2), I loved it and I'd still replay it at some point:) The next, this time on PC, was Gothic II, and Gothic I (also multiple runs), I'll also re-run it somewhen.

I've been playing Pokemon, main game and spin-offs, since I got my Nintendo 64 in first grade. I'll be trading and battling with my grand kids if I have any laugh.gif

Animal Crossing, LoZ: Wind Waker, and Pikmin were also a big part of my childhood. I still play a lot of Nintendo games today, but PC games have become more convenient.

Command & Conquer. Though, I didn't play it, I just hung around watching my brother play.

It still left a deep impact on me and I've took up playing Renegades just for those Ion Cannon Beacons.

@Trickseh I have nintendogs! Back then I absolutely adored huskies, so all 3 of my home dogs were huskies.

@Lagie: Pong FTW! I played a lot of that as a kid lol.

When I was very small computer games were still two-colour. xd.png I've played far too much Pokemon and Final Fantasy in my life, but that's not a bad thing, right? unsure.gif

if it is then we're both in trouble. laugh.gif

I didn't get any video games until I was thirteen and it was Yellow version on the gameboy color, but I did play some of my friend's games when I hung out with them. Some of my earliest memories were Super Mario 3, Pokemon Stadium, and one of the early Sonic games.
