24 HOUR READ-A-THON

Recommended Posts

@klinneah: I would recommend these. None are YA, but I think most can be read at any age.

Science Fiction:

Mars Crossing by Geoffrey A. Landis

Dune by Frank Herbert

Alien Velocity by Robert Appleton

The Forever War by Joe Haldeman

Foundation by Asimov

Fantasy:

Songs & Swords series by Elaine Cunningham

The Dragonlance Legends by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman

The Dragonlance Chronicles by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman

Here's my blog (it's also in my signature). I'll make a post for the read-a-thon when we're closer to it, so that it doesn't get lost.

I doubt I'll read as much this time as last October, because I have to study for finals, but I'll try to read a bit. Why do all the fun things happen when I have to study? Two weeks later and I would be free sad.gif

I can't do this because I work from 1pm-10pm on Saturdays, but good luck to those who are participating! This looks totally fun! ♥

You don't have to read for the entire 24 hours. Even for a bit before you leave. If you do a few mini-challenges while you read, you'll still be in the running for some prizes.

Pika, I slept through the first 2 hours last time, I was quite angry with myself. As to the books part, why not go to your local library and grab 5 or 10 books? That way you'll have a variety. That's what I plan on doing.

Anyone else up for this?

I'm hoping to be a Mini-Challenge host, but since they haven't contacted me yet, I doubt I'll be one.

I think I might join this year, after I read a bit more about it. ^^

It'll be good to have you, Zovesta.

I hope you have fun. I hope we all have fun.

Well, that sounds mildly ominous. X)

Yes, I think I'll do it. I have a few books I've been wanting to burn through anyway, even though I'm not really a fast reader. c:

Ominous... I didn't mean it like that.

I just know by the time the 24th hour ends I'm dragging my rear trying to get the math done.

I hate math. I hate math worse when I've had no sleep.

I however love reading and think a bit of math is payment enough to be able to read for 24 hours.

OH! YAY! I'm going to be a Mini-Challenge Host! Yeeee Ha!

*dances*

Haha, I know how you meant it, just out of context it sounded ominous. xd.png And, agreed, math sucks, but it's not as awful as geography. I still have to go over that stuff because I forget it all the time. =U

Gratz! c:

Yeah, geography isn't my strong suit either.

*points at invisible world map* I know USA, Canada and Mexico, of course. China is this big land mass here and Austrilia is here. I think this is Africa. Aaand, that's the extent of my geographical knowlage.

I can't wait to show you guys the prize I'm giving away for my mini-challenge. I'm so exited! I've never been a mini-challenge host before.

Congrats, Kanaye! I can't wait to see what you have people do for the mini challenge.

Can't you do math before the read-a-thon or part of it so that you don't have to do everything after?

Now that I don't have to study it anymore I miss math and geography.

Nope. Can't do it before. And doing it during would just make the joy of reading the joy of reading be muted by the annoyance of math.

At the end I need to calculate how many pages I read and how many minutes/hours.

My Mini-challenge post is all ready! I'm so exited! I sent it to the people to see if I need to edit anything but I haven't heard back from them yet.

This is actually the prize I'm giving away. I hope people like it and the person who wins will be happy with it.

Glad you remembered, Klinneah!

We are actually on hour 9 now. Everyone, in the whole world, is on hour 9.

Don't forget to do some mini-challenges too!

I suppose I'll just have to wait until tomorrow to do this in fun spirit, as I'm still sick and feeling sluggish. :|

Good luck, everyone!

Congrats on the second book, Kanaye-dear!

Maybe next year, you need to let CPA know a few days in advance! (Or PM people directly?)

That's what this thread was for, Lagie-dear.

Next October I'll send out PMs though.

Gah. Its been a bad day for Mini-challenge links.

I gave them the correct one but for some reason it has all this jumble after it, 2012/4/blah blah blah. And its the wrong link. I gave them the correct one, originally. I don't know why its done that.
