If you look at other gender it should come down in the middle of the tail from both wings here is just from the one facing us? 😷

I noticed the same thing. It should go down the side, under the smaller wings. I like the species but it definitely looks weird! Wonder why it didn't get caught pre-release?

It’s an intentional dimorphic difference just like the spikes where it splits under the first wing and goes over the back.  There should perhaps be a second split leading to the other side but it looked weirdly straight during production.

The male Skystrider is definitely one of my favorites, but I just can't resist starry dragons so the Astaarus has my heart as well

I agree the stripe looks kind of weird. We should definitely be seeing the “v” it makes from the left wing as well. (Unless they have asymmetrical markings?

Personally, I like the lack of a split in the image (asymmetrical markings for the win). But that's just me...

 

Also, am I the only one thinking the Astaarus dragons would look good with the Hellfires given that both have the gender color dimorphism?

I thought that when I first saw the gendered hatchlings.

 

I love these dragons! yet another awesome edition to the cave! 

 

btw, since more than a few people were calling the Starry dragon eggs doughnuts I have claimed the names:

- Starry Doughnut

- Glazed Galaxy

- Krispy Cream Milky Way

- Sprinkled Star Dust

I'm glad it's bothering someone else besides me. 

 

Especially if you compared how the same line is depicting on the male.

 

What looks like is happening is that the cyan stripes start under the wings, before migrating to the back of the female dragon.

 

BUT, then I would expect a second line coming from the other side, and uniting at the middle. 

 

Unless, there is only one stripe located on the right side of the body, which is weirdly asymmetric.

In other news, They all look lovely. Though I think I prefer the Astaarus.

As far as the stripe design goes, I look at it this way: Not all things in nature are even when it comes to markings and patterns. it could be used as a warning and a camouflage. To me, it's not a bother. It just makes them more unique.

Wonder how Astaarus(es?) will look with Hellhorses... 🤔 Gonna have to try them out with some of our other starry breeds as well
