Since the NaNo topic for last year appears to have been lost to the interweb abyss, here's a new start. And as the NaNo site has reset from last year and are getting ready for this year's to begin, I figured we needed a new topic. smile.gif

So, who's planning on doing NaNo this year? Anyone already know what they're writing yet? Share!

I myself am planning on finishing the lore for my world Medi Varnl and working on the fifth (or so) rewrite of the first novel I have planned for it.

I'm planning on doing Nano. I tried it the other year and only got 10,000 or so words done, but that wasn't half bad. University got in my way, so I couldn't finish, but now I'm post-graduate and unemployed, I might just have time.

I'm starting to plot my story, but I've had the ideas floating around my head for a very long time, so I should be alright.

xd.png I've been doing it every year since I was 8! How could I forget this one?

No idea what I'm writing. Might do A Little Shadow (first novel idea I ever made, been planning on rewriting it) that's basically about a world where there are warped creatures called Shadows that are only made if the soul desperately wants to return from the body when dying. The soul will take on a strange form and then be able to live to fulfill the reason it wanted to live. Light is believed to be the gateway to the afterlife, so if light shines on them, they must go up to the Heavens or Hells. A girl's father who died quite some time ago returned as a shadow to care for his daughter, but, being a shadow, cannot meet her.

Sucky 8-year old idea...

The Desert Dwellers, a story about a world where a war is brutally raging between the kumens and the humans, but they dragged many others into the fight. A human warrior is accidentally transported into the desert when she was going to go help her city fight off the kumens, and her only way of getting out is a refuge camp. Being forced to stay with many creatures she is at war with, like the yuamees and kumens, she fights between helping the raid kill off all the refuge camps or befriending them.

Blehargen, I suck at describing. xd.png Anyone else mind going into theirs?

Long time doing it! This is just my second year.

Both of yours sound really interesting! I'll whip up a description to my own soon - I have to reassess where I'm starting it at as I'm thinking of beginning the story different than I have previously.

I suck at replying to things in a timely manner. Meh.

Anyway, the name of the first novel in my series set in Medi Varnl is Feloinain and it follows one of my two starting main characters, Tristol Baxlell. He starts the story as a confused, somewhat self-hating youth stuck between two worlds: the humans that populate most of Medi Varnl and the Feloinains who are forced to live in hiding or else be killed. As events happen and the story progresses, he learns to accept what he is and also sets forth on a quest to not only help the Feloinains come out of hiding but also to save the entire world.

I'm doing it again this year--I tried twice before, though I failed epically each time.

This year I'm going to prep sessions at one of my local libraries, and possibly a write-in. :3

I've been working on the idea for the story I wanna work with this year for quite some time--though I plan to rework a good deal of the plot, because it was really sloppy before, so I'm overhauling it and tightening it up. I've got some bits that I've written relating to the characters that I've used to help me define them, and I had a prologue that I'd written AGES ago that really isn't up to scratch with my current writing ability.

So, seeing as you need to start from scratch, I can take the basic ideas of what I've liked and what's worked so far and write them over from the start and really get things looking much nicer than I've had them so far... xd.png

I'm still working on condensing my plot into actual WORDS. xd.png I have it in my head, but it's hard to put into a short number of words, in a wya that doesn't make it sound like I just grabbed a generic idea off a "generic fantasy novel ideas" list. xd.png By far, not the first time a story of this nature has been written--but hey, plenty of stuff out there is like that, right?

KageSora: I know what you mean... problem is, I can write and write, but I later lose my enthusiasm for it. I've only really gotten up to 30k words. xd.png

I got less than 4k done last year before other stuff happened. xd.png

Whee, I got a summary now! 40 words:

QUOTE (KageSora)
"The ancient Beast continues to ravage a world declining into oblivion, now freed from a long imprisonment. Taso, a young teen, sets out to understand his dreams—filled with Dragons and darkness, and an ever-growing need to protect his world."

Lawlz~
I'm doing Nano this year. I started a bit last year, but school got in the way, so not much happened. ._.
This will be my second year~

And I think I managed to convince my Creative Writing teacher to do Nano. xd.png Or at least make the class do Nano for extra credit. I'll see later.

xd.png Coolness! Also, cool, KageSora. biggrin.gif

Mmm... I'm not gonna write any of the stories I mentioned. Gonna write this one:

In a world where everyone uses magic and a single powerful goddess protects the world, the world seems safe. However, when the goddess is sealed inside a necklace, problems arise. Everything is getting weaker, more people are dying, and everyone is in a rush to find the goddess. Can an unlikely group of a bitter woman, a coward and his brother, an abusive two-headed creature be able to find the goddess... or will the goddess destroy the world herself?

Typical pot is typical. xd.png

Heh, my plot is a pretty generic plot, too. But I hope I can present it in a way that hasn't been done to death and back a bazillion times. xd.png
