Hello there! This is the new thread for the Ridiculous Lineage Breeding Project (RLBP). In the words of our intrepid founder, the delightful Saami:

How It Works
Any and all pairings are allowed:

• Common x Common
• Alt x Common
• Rare x Common
• Alt x Rare

You can have any pairing you want, with certain exceptions:
One dragon in your pair must have Ridiculous in its name
Both dragons in your pair must NOT have non-Ridiculous-named offspring (to limit other family ties).

This project originally started with the requirement of at least one of your pair as a cave-born dragon. Since the project has been going for a while, you can start out with Ridiculous-lineage dragons from one of the other participants.

HOWEVER, if you want to start from scratch, you must start out with at least one cave-born dragon and name it Ridiculously. Your other dragon can be bred if you like, but it should be named Ridiculously if possible and should not be used for breeding outside of this project.

Other Rules

• Dragons must have 'Ridiculous' in their names. Variations are OK (Ridiculously, Ridiculii), but abbreviations are NOT.
• Offspring of a Ridiculous pair must also be named Ridiculously to be part of the lineage.
• Dragons not named Ridiculously can be 'adopted' into the lineage. However, PLEASE TRY TO KEEP THEIR OFFSPRING RIDICULOUS! If they already have offspring outside of this project, that's OK, but outside family ties should stay at a minimum.
• Inbreeding should be avoided if possible. Our informal standard is "if it has inbreeding in the most recent 12 generations (the maximum you can see at one time with Jade Destiny's lineage tool), the dragon is inbred". Whether you decide to breed an inbred dragon is your decision. However, you MUST disclose the inbreeding if you offer eggs from an inbred dragon.
• Participants should follow the standards for announcing egg/hatchling drops, reserving themes or names, etc.
• Participants should be ACTIVE. We're trying to grow a long lineage and we need a wide breeding base to do that. If you don't think you can breed/donate/acquire at least one Ridiculous Dragon a week (on average), this project is probably not for you. However, there is an alternative-- check out the LERP in the third post!

WE NO LONGER HAVE A WAITING LIST FOR NEW PARTICIPANTS!
Since we've opened up the list, anyone can participate! However, if you want file access and stuff like that, you have to meet minimum requirements. They're not too difficult, promise!

For any interested new people... PLEASE READ!

The requirements for file access are that each participant have a minimum of 5 Ridiculous dragons on their scroll that meet the breeding guidelines. Of those five dragons, one must be from someone else in the project, and another must be a multi-Ridiculous-generation dragon of your own breeding. The other big requirement is that you be active on the thread for a month-- active is right now defined as 'at least one post a week'. So... if you want in, just pipe up and say so!

You have a month-long 'probation' if you want file access, which starts from the first day you say "Can I be Ridiculous?". The dates on the list of new participants (see the 2nd post) represent the 'deadline'. If you don't see a date by your name, it just means you were on the old waiting list and we don't know if you still want to play.

If you don't meet these requirements (or don't want to!), you can still be Ridiculous-- you just won't have file access. And if you miss your 'deadline', you can still be on probation to get file access-- the number of dragons will increase by 5 for each month you're on probation, and you still need to be active in the thread (one post per week). Not so bad, right?

This is a 'pass-the-egg' type project that started on 6/8/09 and administered by ScribbleCraft. It's a way to be "somewhat Ridiculous" without getting fully involved. At this point, there's no cap. So if you're interested, post in the thread or PM ScribbleCraft, the manager of this sub-project! Essentially, the rules are:

• All breeding must follow the Ridiculous breeding rules.
• We're trying to avoid inbreeding if we can. This means all participants need to be VIGILANT!
• You breed the egg you receive and pass the resulting offspring down to the next person in the list.
• If you are unable to take the egg when your turn comes up, you either need to trade with someone later in the list or move to the end of the list.
• Eggs will continue to be passed down the list (of different breeding, of course), so we can continue to have a ready supply of Ridiculously Long Lineage Eggs.

R.Verda is also back! All my lost dragons came back.

Yay! All my dragons are back! This includes Jasper CR, so Dreamy Haze has her mate again and I can offer a nice, long, clean lineaged egg (once breeding is enabled) for a Ridiculous mate. He was the one I was saddest about losing.

got mr weasley back and another that i didn't mention as missing before. the two ridiculii from the R lotr/narnia line. yay!!!!

My dragons are feeling un-amorous, so I'm grabbing eggs instead. Got some CB black for the pure black line (from Ahavah), and some CB dorsal for my pure dorsal Algorithms line. Send girl vibes for the black and boy vibes for the dorsal!

Ugh, RL *hates on it* I've got some updates to do, but I'm too tired to do them. We've had some family issues come up and I've had to deal with those. Currently I'm the only one working out of a family of six.

@ladymatch - If you update, great, if not, don't beat yourself up about it. I'm sure we all understand, and anyone who doesn't is a callous idiot. Sounds like you have some very serious RL issues right now, so no one should expect you to make pixel toys a priority.

Well, as a heads up:

I'll be out of town starting early Thursday morning and I won't be back for at least 9 or 10 days. Nalyua has agreed to scroll-sit for me (and she should get a gold star for that because my scroll's a hand-full), so cheers to her.
