Welcome, one and all, to the official Acts of Random Kindness thread.

The idea of this thread is to bring together a community of individuals that constantly helps one another out in small ways, more often then not without ever being recognized for them. It is a way for us to put forth the names of those who have helped us without asking for anything in return.


RULES
These are just some basic rules of thumb to remember!

No Drama!
All nominations must be PMed to count.
Please title your nominations with the persons username that you are nominating.
Nominations may be posted here publicly if you wish.
No begging to be nominated. You need to earn the nomination.
If you are nominating about a surprise, you must be the receiver of said surprise.
If someone is on the list but still performed a random act of kindness, you can still post about their act of kindness as long as it passes the qualifications.
Try to keep chat and grats to a minimum. There is a Congratulations thread where you can congratulate people there. If you are newly listed on ARK, don't forget to check on the congrats thread too!
If you make it onto the ARK list, you will be PMed the Symbol of ARK and may use it on your sig to show you did a good random deed for someone and was acknowledged for it.
If you use the Symbol of ARK award and have not been officially recognized on the list, you may be grey or blacklisted and any future chances at winning the award may be compromised.



Qualifications
We of the ARK Team compiled a list of things that do and do not qualify for nominations to make it easier for us and for you. Please read these very carefully. If something you have in mind is not listed on either one, feel free to send in the nomination, which it will be discussed amongst the team.

A list of things that do qualify:
A surprise replacement from a lost trade or gift.
Randomly gifting an egg to someone when they didn't ask of it.
The nominee catches a holiday egg and randomly gift it to someone and aren't apart of a catching group.
The nominee surprises someone by making them a banner for their lineage or signature when they didn't ask or know the nominee was going to make them.
Giving back the lost trade to the receiver without the receiver asking for its return.

A list of things that do NOT qualify:
Replaced trade that was posted on The Replacement Project.
The nominee returning a trade they caught that you lost after you asked them for it back(does not count for asking for its safe return in Lost In Trades. We mean actually going after the person in PMs).
Nominating yourself or a family member.
Anyone that asks for a catcher listed in a catching group.
Anything from The Giving Tree or game-like topics.
Returning a trade the nominee caught then asking for a reward egg.
A mentor teaching the nominator about DragCave.



How To Nominate
If you feel your nominee qualifies for a nomination by you, here's a few simple steps on how to nominate someone via PM!

Step 1: To start a PM to Acts of Random Kindness, you can either click the PM button at the bottom of a post done by ARK, go to the profile for ARK and click Private Message, or go to your Inbox, click Compose Message, then type Acts of Random Kindness in the space where you are to enter a name.
Step 2: Once the PM is set up, click the empty Message Title box and type in the name of the person you are nominating.
Step 3: Click the big blank space. This is where you will type up your nomination. Include the name of the person you are nominating, what they did that was a random act of kindness, and perhaps a link to show where this occurred(this last bit is optional). Be sure to proof read your nomination to make sure its good enough for us to understand, even if your english isn't very good.
Step 4: Scroll down and simply click send!

And there ya have it! That's how to send in your nomination! Pretty easy, right?

Congratulations to all of you! on that note, we also have a new medal for ARK Listed Members. If you have an older medal, you can keep it or use the new one! If you are NOT on the list, please do not use it. The ARK Team worked hard to perfect it. Here's the shiny new medal given out from now on!


EDIT: The one sent out had a lot of extra space around it. The ARK Team fixed it to cut out the extra space so you can use this one.

Oh wow. I had been in a bit of a downer lately and this totally brightened my night. Not sure who nominated me, but thank you! I am honored =)

Congrats all round!

I see many names of new listers I would have thought long since ARKed, among the deserving new entrants.

And I'm SO glad to see the ARK back up, and deeply grateful to the hard-working people devoting such time and effort to this wonderful cause.


If that's an actual ARK nomination sitting in my inbox, as it appears to be, and not something sent in error, I'm flabbergasted.

But I'm afraid this says more about the sweet nature of whoever sent my name in than it does about mine.

(And thanks! You really made my week.)

If I were to accept this honour, people might expect me to be noble and selfless, and I'd really hate to mislead them, lol.

People may sometimes think of ARK nomination as a way to thank someone who may have done even some small thing which has happened to touch them.

But I do feel, personally, that in order to maintain the high standard personified in so many ARK listers that selections should be formed of those consistently and thoroughly noble and selfless, rather than those who may happen to have done something for someone else now and then.

I will, however, somehow manage to keep the nomination in my overcrowded inbox to remind me that someone was kind enough to have done this, and apparently considered me worthy of this honour.

And I will DIE of curiosity until I find out who it was.

Hehe. I think ARK, as its name says, is about acts, not the person, though I guess some people do expect us to have high standards if they aren't familiar with ARK.
