***IMPORTANT NEWS FLASH ***

Updated all charts. Note that the first chart has many pink or 0% results. This is due to the new dragons and lack of information. Please use the chart that goes with it to show the formula counts as it will show you where the data is 0% because that cross has not been tried.

The Geode is still a problem, but I have incorporated it into all charts the best I can. Note that on the egg results chart, the first generation Geodes that are the result of crossing Stone x Stone, Stone x Green, or Green x Green are not shown as the table is not able to calculate a third possibility for the results. But any Geode bred to any other dragon will show up.

***END OF IMPORTANT NEWS FLASH ***

I was asked to create a new post for tracking breeding percentages so that the rules would be on the first page. After long thought, I came to the conclusion that it might not be a bad idea to create a new post for this and ONLY include information from the new server change forward. (From Jan 10, 2009 forward) The charts in this post will only contain information from that date forward.

In order to get the information into the excel spreadsheet, the following rules must be applied, and if not followed, it won't be included in the results:

1) All types of dragons shortened to a standard 3 letter code as follows:
CODE

Dragon Type     3 Letter Designator

Black                    Blk
Christmas                Chr
Dark Green / Vine        Vin
Frill                    Fri
Geode                    Geo
Green / Earth            Grn
Gold                     Gol
Gray                     Gra
Guardian                 Gua
Magi                     Mag
Mint                     Mnt
Pink                     Pnk
Purple                   Pur
Red                      Red
Silver                   Sil
Skywing                  Sky
Stone                    Stn
Water                    Wat
White                    Wht
Seasonal                 Sea
Split                    Spl
Vampire                  Vam
Valentine                Val

2) The results should be listed as follows:
Bred, No egg
No Interest
Refused

3) If it is a first time pairing, then end the line with a + sign.

4) Formatted so it reads Type Type result. It would look like this:

Blk Red Refused
Spl Spl Bred, No Egg +
Mag Gol No Interest
Sil Vin +
Wht Sea

(Note the last 2 entries. There is nothing where the result should be. This indicates a successful pairing where at least one egg is produced. And it doesn't matter if the male or female is listed first. )

5) Egg data can be tacked onto the end of the rest of the above standard formatted information. And how that would be done would be to just put an "=" sign followed by each egg's code.

So you would have a successful breeding that would look something that looks like this:

Blk Wht + = blk wht blk wht

I am using the "=" sign to indicate that everything following the "=" sign are for the kinds of eggs. What the above code means is that a Black and a White dragon were mated for the first time, and the result are 4 eggs, 2 of which are black, and 2 that are white. So if you only get one egg, then you would only have 1 color code following the = sign, and 2 eggs would be two codes, 3 eggs would be three codes, and 4 eggs would be 4 codes.

6) PLEASE do NOT add any other information to the beginning or end of the lines that contain the standard formatted code. Keep all information listed as it shows in #4. If you wish to list more information in your preferred format, then that is acceptable if it follows the at the bottom of your post. (Yes, I like that expanded information, but the Excel formulas key off of very specifically formatted information. So show it if you wish, but only at the bottom of your post.)

7) PLEASE do NOT add new breedings to previous posts as it is too hard to figure out where the old records stop and the new updates start. I will ONLY be looking at information to add from my last post forward as I will note where I stopped adding information to the currently shown chart.

8) For ease of access, I will not be going outside of this thread to collect data. The reasons for this are many, but mostly the biggest reason is that the data I am asking for is not in the format that will work with my spreadsheet which means that I have to retype all of the breeding records by hand. This defeats the purpose of this thread which is to standardize the information as much as possible to make it as easy and accurate as possible for the information to be analyzed. So what I am saying is that if you want your records included, they must be posted in this thread in the requested format. Again, it is fine to link to your offsight records, but please do so at the bottom of your post. (Yes, I know it is a lot to ask of everyone as the format is strange, but it works well with Excel and does really minimize errors.)

9) For now, the chart will only be posted on page 1 of this thread as there is no need to post that picture thousands of times. I will keep the rules and the chart all in the first two posts on the first page for easy access.

Thanks for the help with the format of the information. Many hands make light work. ;-)

(And for those that already put the info on the other post, I know it is a lot to ask, but would you mind putting the records from the server change forward here also? I do plan on adding the info posted here to the other thread for a while as I am not convinced that the charts will be that different in the end, but who knows.)

Revision History:

Edited Jan 20, 2009 for addition of notation of first time crosses. This was inserted as rule #3 that states to use a + sign at the end of the line if it is a first time cross.

Edited Jan 30, 2009 for addition of offspring being able to be added at the end of the standard formated code. This was inserted as rule #5.

Edited Feb 23, 2009 for addition of new Dragons (Frills, Geodes, and Valentine). Color code section was updated to reflect the additional codes. Updated News Flash.

Edited Feb 24, 2009 for the addition of a rule that states information must be in this post as I will not go outside of this thread to collect information. This was inserted as rule #8.

All charts but the egg results updated on April 1, 2009.

I have NOT shaded the cells that have no data collected for that cross so that you can see which ones are low due to no data at all for that cell.
This was done on the Breeding Success Percentages chart which is the second one in this post. This chart is where the first condensed chart gets it's information from.

Yes, I know that there are some crosses that are not viable that we know of. But, since the option to try to breed that cross is there, I have
left it as a reportable cross. (IE metallics to metallics)

Trivia: There are 8848 reported breedings as of this update which I obtained up until my last post on page 49. Great job all biggrin.gif

Here is a picture of the numbers used to generate the above chart.

This is Danacc's chart which shows the relationship between first time breedings and out right refusals. Again, many thanks to Danacc for the
calculations that she merged into my workbook. biggrin.gif

First chart showing eggs from breedings! biggrin.gif

What this chart shows is the percentage of each type of egg produced from only successful pairings. Only the breedings that have the egg
types reported are used in the figures for this chart.

NOTE: First generation Geodes from Stone x Stone, Green x Stone, or Green x Green crosses are not represented on this chart. Only Geodes bred to other dragons are shown as there are issues trying to get the following table to calculate for those crosses.

The way this chart works is that the parent is either in Red for the Column headings, or Blue for the row headings. The offspring shown
as color coded text. The Red text means that the type of egg matches the parent that is in the red colum heading, and if the text is blue, then
the egg matches the parent that is in the blue row heading.

I'm thrilled to see the info being collected again! One point with regards to names (and personally, I don't care what/how things are named, as long as it's standardized): the stripe colors do NOT affect breeding. Any color stripe can generate any other color stripe, given the appropriate partner. So within that scope, I don't see why there should be any differentiation (same as the Dorsals and Suns). But like I said, I don't personally care much - mostly it's just extra work for you to set up additional columns/rows and to split the data out.

Wat GST + = Wat
Gra SUN no interest +
Val Blk + = Blk

Sea DOR + = Sea
Red Sil bred, no egg +

Very glad to have official codes, and thrilled that someone's still doing something with all this data! smile.gif

ETA: Would you prefer the older dragon codes in all-lowercase, rather than initial caps as I've done it here, or does it matter? Happy to oblige with whatever's easiest for data-collecting.

1 result for now:

WST stn + = WST

For the Stripes: I'd be interested in seeing how the colors breed for a while at least.

@ grizabella - A question about the 3rd chart? It shows a Red Stripe breeding with a Christmas resulted in a White Stripe. Am I reading this correct? Also I thought I saw before the wipe a result of WST chr = RST. Of course I might have seen that somewhere else laugh.gif

DOR NPK + = NPK
gua WST + = BST

I also think it's interesting to see which colored stripeys come from which parents - it's not necessarily intuitive sometimes (like above with the Christmas breedings producing both red and white stripes!)

I too think the differentiation makes sense. It maynot matter what colour the parent is - but it does interest many people what colour the offspring is. So the colour-differences need only be in the offspring-part. But if you put them as one breed for mating, but four breeds for eggs, that would be even more confusing. ^^

Given that there's a large lack of data regarding Geode dragons in the original charts and yet there are a lot of submitted records involving Geode dragons, has anyone ever considered making an updated chart solely for statistics of pairings involving Geode dragons?

Anyways, I did a lot of breeding two days ago. Time to submit my own records. As usual, my records are submitted with the male first, if that's of any relevance.

so.....i usually keep all my breeding data on mspaint files just copying over pictures of the dragons and the outcomes

i noticed that this thread was looking for records so i went through and transfered all my data into a word document
.....have fun with this wall of text laugh.gif
I keep the same mates and only try new ones if they refuse,

On april 5th, all my seasonxseasons refused, i believe this had to do with release of springs so i'm not sure if you want to add that data in because they were always successful breeding besides the time around new seasonal release
