Welcome to The Giving Tree! (TGT)


Anyone may give eggs or hatchlings to anyone here. You do not need to be on any list to give.


By requesting dragons through this service, you are accepting these rules. If you break them, we have every right to remove you from lists or ban you from our service.

TGT reserves the right to refuse/ban anyone who is believed to be cheating or not acting in accordance with the Dragcave Terms And Conditions.

Read the whole post. If you do not follow the rules, you will not get onto a list. If you continue to not follow the rules, you may be temporarily or permanently banned.

The purpose of this thread is to help breeders find good homes for their dragons, as well as give those with poor connections a chance to get the dragon they’re looking for.

You will only be added to a list if there is a free spot. A free spot is a number with no name next to it. Don't forget to check the thread also to see if the open spot has already been claimed. This is the only list.


So you want to get a dragon....

In order to be eligible for any lists of this thread, you should:
• Not have any dead dragons for any reason. Failed attempts to get a Zombie or a Neglected, deads from earthquakes, killed eggs/hatchlings/adults, eggs/hatchlings that have run out of time do count as dead and if you have them on your scroll you are not eligible for the lists until the fade away. Zombies don't count as dead.
• Keep your scroll visible at all times, eggs, hatchlings and adults. Even after you are on a list, it must remain visible so that we can make sure you are still eligible to be on a list. Fogging is allowed but be prepared that you might be asked to unfog them for a mod.
Commons list:
• Have at least five (5) adult dragons to be on the Commons list.
Rares list:
• Have at least ten (10) adult dragons to be on a Rares list.
• You may only be added to up to two (2) Rares lists at one time. If you would like to be added to another list after that, you must ask to be removed from one of the lists you are on.
• Not have any of that type of dragon, if it is a rare. (That is, if you have a silver, you cannot be on the silver list. But if you have a gold and no silver, you can still be on the silver list.)
• Alts lists - Since alt eggs no longer have a separate sprite, to be on an alt list you must keep a bred one of that type of egg on your scroll, to hatch it to see if it is an alt. I.e., if you're on the alt black list, you must have a bred black egg on your scroll.

To get onto a specific list you must:
• Request for yourself as we do not add scrolls from friends/relatives/people with no forum-account.
• Bold your request (If you want to be removed from a list do also bold your request)
• Include a link to your scroll
• Include a way to contact you (PMs, AIM, MSN, e-mail, etc.) with your post. Default contact method will be assumed as PMs. If you must use a different contact method, state how you would like to be contacted when someone has an egg for you.
• Not intend to freeze the dragon. We do not put people on lists with the sole intention of freezing the dragon they will receive.
Gender Preference - For Commons Only: If you prefer a certain gender but are willing to raise it from an egg, mention it. If you decide not to keep it due to gender, please pass it on as a gift to someone else, preferably via TGT. If you are NOT willing to raise it from an egg, do NOT claim you would be. Do not use a gender claim to get around raising the dragon. If you are found doing either of these, you will be temp-banned. Those requesting gendered hatchling may be bumped from a list if there are people willing to take eggs instead.
Inbred: If you do not want a inbred dragon, mention it. Those refusing inbreds may be bumped from a list if there are people willing to take an inbred. If you get an inbred by mistake though you said you do not want an inbred you are allowed to gift it to someone else who doesn't care. Those who do not mention if they accept inbred or not are considered as "non inbred prefered but willing to take inbred".
You cannot ask for CB or special lineages as TGT is no breeding/catching service.

You will only be added to a list if there is a free spot. A free spot is a number with no name next to it. Don't forget to check the thread after the last update to see if the open spot has already been claimed. Do only requeste when the spot is still open. This is the only list.

Being higher on a list does not guarantee you the next egg. This is not a breeding service. You should keep looking to get the eggs elsewhere (let us know if you succeed, so we can take you off the list).

Big no-nos that can get you banned:
• Begging
• Asking to be on a list that has not yet been created (ie; for new eggs). The thread-mods will announce when a new list goes live.
• PMing breeders unless they have PMed you/offered the dragon in the thread
• PM'ing gifters who offered a dragon to listers when you are not on the list
• Only taking older egg/hatchlings to avoid the work/time to raise them
• Parking eggs on other scrolls because you are full
• Moving eggs to any other scroll than your own
• Killing gifted dragons. If you kill a gifted dragon, you will be temp-banned for two weeks longer than the time it takes for the dead dragon to leave your thread. If you do so a second time, you will be banned from the thread.
• Trading away gifted dragons. (This will get you perma-banned INSTANTLY.) Wrongly-gendered dragons should be regifted, preferably via TGT.
• If something bad happens to a dragon you were given (it dies, you accidentally lose it), you should tell both the Breeder and the TGT mods immediately. If you do not, when we find out you may be in a lot of trouble.

Things you SHOULD do:
• Be polite!
• Request, not demand - breeders are being nice in helping you
• Accept eggs - we will bump people who won't take eggs if a list is full.
• Respond to PMs you receive, even if just to say that you can't take it or if you think the egg has gone.
• Let us know if you will be gone for more than 3 days so we can take you off lists
• Let a breeder know if you will freeze or pass on the dragon if it is the wrong gender
• Let the breeder and TGT know if you pass on a dragon you were given. If you don't, we may wonder why you are missing a dragon you were given.
• Thank anyone who gives you a dragon!
• After successfully giving or receiving an egg, one of you should post here in the following format
Gifter -> giftee: gender and breed of the dragon.
Eg:
Foundling Foundation -> TJ09: female white hatchling
TJ09 -> Foundling Foundation: Stone egg
State whether the recipient should be removed from the list.


So you want to give a dragon...

Givers / Breeders: Feel free to message as many listers as possible and give it to the first responder. (Just let us know you did so. =P). You can also set your own requirements on top of the TGT ones if you wish to do so. If there are gender preferences, the adopter may pass on your egg if it turns out the wrong gender, but should try to keep it within the Giving Tree.

Gendered hatchlings: If you are giving away a gendered hatchling, please give preference to those who would be willing to take an egg. If someone is marked with a *, they are looking for a male but will take an egg. If someone is marked with a **, they are looking for a female but will take an egg. Those who will not take anything but a gendered hatchling will be marked with "male" or "female" only.

Trades should be done at the Dragon Trading Thread.

To be listed as a 'giver' you must have given out >10 dragons.

Things you should do:
• Be polite!
• Report listers who have not responded to your gifting offers within 24 hours by pming Foundling Foundation with the information.
• Report non-listers who are asking for an egg offered for listers only.

Note: Names link to the scrolls. This helps the mods to make sure anyone listed remains eligible, and for breeders to see the scrolls of potential giftees.

Names used are the forum names, the name at which you should PM the adopter.


Concerning Chat/thread conduct:

Do
• Pay attention to the thread mods

Don't
• Break the ToS of the Dragon Cave site or forums
• Harass other users in this thread
• Spam the topic with short or off-topic posts or start thread drama.
• Bump any kind of posts in the thread. It's considered begging/spamming.
• Double post for any reason. Please edit your previous post instead.
• Quote open offers repeatedly. If an offer is still open and you want it seen then repost/quote it but /delete/ the first offer post.
• Bold things that are not related to the thread updates. (like failed gifting, or gifts available.)
• Post unrelated gifts. Gifts that should be posted are gifts to listers or if the gift had been offered to the public within the thread. Gifts that should not be posted are trades and gifts to random strangers outside the thread.
• Ask questions that belong in the 'Help section' (ie 'Is my dragon an Alt?')

These can be modified at any time, so make sure you check back on them.

If you see someone not posting in the right format or not following the TGT rules, please let the thread mods and white listers take care of that. Any misconduct, begging and/or rule breaking should be PM'ed to Foundling Foundation.
