Like myself, you have probably been frustrated during your weekly breeding. Those two Springs absolutely refuse to produce, your Magma x Magi pair produce nothing but Magis, and your Silvers and Golds laugh in your face! Yet you see messy Rares in trade daily and wonder why the DC Gods hate your breeding projects.

The 'Save the Rares' competition is here to try and ease the ratio burden and allow Rares and Uncommons to be more obtainable, as well as to help keep the AP clear of unwanted dragons and the Cave unblocked.

The Breakdown:
We want to raise and Freeze unwanted Messy/Inbred commons for the good of the Cave as a whole. In other words, not only are we helping the Rares but keeping the AP clean and Cave unblocked.


Qualified dragons are counted towards your total points. Points can be spent on Prizes. There is no time limit for this event. Dragons can be either Frozen or grown to adulthood.

The Prizes:
A frozen Hatchie is worth one point. Adult dragons are worth half a point. Points accumulate until a person decides they want to spend their points on available Prizes. Points DO NOT EXPIRE and you may save up to earn better prizes.

The Qualified Breeds:

So what qualifies a dragon towards the competition? They MUST NOT be on the Ineligible Breed List(below) and must be Inbred or Messy. "Messy" for this competition is a minimum of five generations and not an even-gen or perfect stairstep/spiral/wave, etc. (5G tinsel fail from a perfect staircase is consider messy for this thread.)

Rules:

1. Only the breeds not on the Ineligible list count towards your total.

2. Only breeds hatched after you sign up count towards your total.

3. Only frozen hatchlings or adults count, not eggs or growing hatchlings not yet frozen.

4. You MAY NOT release your adults/hatchlings into the wild. A thread mod will check your scroll whenever you turn your points in for a prize. Proof that you've read the rules thus far: List your favorite color.

5. Please update your signup post so we can keep track of your entries. This protects you in case we update incorrectly. Then we can go back over your signup post instead of having to dig through your scroll.

6. You are welcome to hunt the AP or Trade for hatchlings but you may NOT breed them or ask for them from friends or in gifting threads. Having them bred for you defeats part of the purpose of the competition. There are plenty of qualified eggs/hatchies out there without you possibly needing to breed them.

7. When you request a Prize you must have your scroll unhidden so we may check your entries and make sure they were not released or bred by you. If you do not want to leave your scroll name public, you may PM me with your scroll info. Proof that you've read all 7 rules, list something related to 7 or a sentence (not an essay ) with "7" in it.

Consequences:

The first time you break the rules, you will receive a verbal warning.
The second time, you will receive a written warning on the main post.
The third time, you will be temporarily banned for a week, and put on the greylist.
Finally, the fourth time, you will be permanently banned from the thread.

FAQs:
Do we have to Freeze them? No but we prefer it. Frozen hatchlings cannot breed and we'd like to remove as many of them out of the gene pool as possible.

Why are adults worth less? We understand that some people are uncomfortable with freezing. You do not have to freeze eligible dragons but we'd rather you did so that dragons are definitely removed from the gene pool and accidental breeding.

Can we release them after we raise/freeze them? Sorry but no. Releasing them essentially takes them from the Cave ratio. We need to keep them on scrolls to count towards the ratio so that more Rares will be seen as well.

Can we kill/zombiefy them after we raise/freeze them? Again, sorry but no. Killing the dragons takes them from the ratio, and this, along with the fact that the dragon will no longer exist for your point total, makes this moot.

I won a prize. When do I get it? Allow a week for most prizes. The higher pointed prizes may take up to two weeks. The Neglecteds are of course unpredictable but will be sent to you as soon as it is ready.

I'm Egglocked! Can you hatch my prize for me? No, we can't. We can allow you 24 hours after the egg is available to free up a spot on your scroll. If you don't pick up your egg by then or make other arrangements, you forfeit the egg and lose half the credit of the egg.

1. Use lineage link: url=http://dragcave.net/lineage/LWYEY
Noticed the link use "lineage" not view. A view link is like this: http://dragcave.net/view/LWYEY which is consider SPAM in this forum.
2. Indicate inbred especially for dragons with less than 5 generaion. This will help the mods to minimize counting mistakes.

Collectors may trade based on the Prize Points table. They may ask anything for their trade up to the 'hard limit' prize cap. This means that if you're offering a CB Black you may ask up to 30 points for it.

If you Request a Bred Dragon:


Donating Rules unless otherwise specified-
ANY MEMBER can donate via this thread. If you see a request that you are able to fulfill, please do. You may make direct points trading between Collectors. You may offer an egg up for trade up to the 'hard limit' of what it is worth on the points table. The points will be directly transferred from player to player after the trade.

Your donator will attempt your requested rare breeding 3 times. If your requested egg isn't produced you won't lose any points. Common/Uncommon breedings may be bred until an egg is successfully produced. If you are looking for or offering a Holiday breeding or other unpointed breeding please PM Save The Rares so that we may determine a point value.

Prize Dragons you can reliably catch: Commons and uncommons
Are you willing to breed? If yes, what are your limitations? I'll breed anything on my scroll with anything else. Note, I don't have holiday dragons, so those are off limits. I also probably can't continue any of my tinsel lines, no matter how pretty they might be.... If you want a metallic, be prepared for the ugliest lineage you have ever seen.
