2012-04-25 - The Turpentines

Recommended Posts

I was really surprised about this when I looked at DCF a few hours ago. Unfortunately, I was away from my laptop at the time, and I did not have the patience to go egg hunting on my iPod Touch or my 3DS (and both were low on battery life), so... yeah... Didn't really start trying to get them until the drop at 7pm.

Despite that, I still managed to get two eggs today. Yay!

I finally got one thanks to someone gifting them man they go by fast

I agree. The 5 minute drops only last less than 30 seconds, and the hourly drops last about 2 minutes. Maybe once many people get the eggs, the drops will last longer biggrin.gif

up to 3 now...... had to wait 5 freaking hours to drop several other eggs cause the turpentines had been dropping in the alpine and apparently switched to desert but I had graphics and stuff turned off and when the drop started I was in alpine clicking like crazy before I realized they weren't turpentine dragons LOL.

Woo! Scroll unlocked due to two of my eggs hatching! Now I can try to get another Turp. egg or two.

With luck - my Pinks will have cooled down before the hatch time of them and I'll be able to get a male and female

*edit, just grabbed a second...

I gifted one to someone who is without a computer atm and is forced to use an iPod touch (I know how strenuous that is). I quickly caught another one happy.gif

Does anyone have a pic of the S1. I missed the wingless sprite. Last I saw TJ's were still eggs. blink.gif

Hi WraithZephyr, thanks again for the Gold...

You are quite welcome Husky.

Up to 6 of the turpentines now.. managed to get 3 more during the 5-min drops... could have gotten the 7th except I mis-clicked a magi LOL.

how are so many people getting these easily?

Optimizing the computer before hunting. I turn off Java script, turn off graphics and turn off page style - it's enough to speed things up a fraction and sometimes that fraction of a second is all you need.

and my mouse is set for the middle button to open up pages up in a new tab in the browser rather than trying to load the pages on the cave page where I hunt. So I refresh, click, refresh click... and all those clicks are opening up extra tabs without causing me to lose the cave. Once I get a couple dozen tabs open, I close them out quickly (because too many tabs open can slow the browser down) and go right back to hunting again.. I don't bother to stop and check to see if I actually got anything. I wait until the drop is done and then turn graphics and stuff back on and then check my scroll to see what goodies I got or didn't get.

The only thing that slows me down is when the drops have been going on long enough that regular eggs start mixing back in.. then if you aren't paying attention you mis click on stuff you don't want (like that silly magi on my scroll at the moment.)

I can never find anything on the Wiki. I'm not a fan; I find it poorly organized. that's why I asked here for it.

I want one I didn't get news until tonight sad.gif

There's still time... next hourly drop in 12 minutes! (And they're permanent additions, said Rubyshoes, so it's not just today that they drop.) Go hang out in the desert. cool.gif

ah...

know a way to speed it up about 87 of those fractions? dry.gif

my compter and net are too slow to do anything, really. the most graphics-intensive game i can currently play successfully is minesweeper. not even flash games on websites work.

I really don't have the time or patience to look through the 35+pages, but I have a question. This morning I caught my first 2 in the Alpine. I went there again, saw normal eggs, thought "sigh...guess it's over." Browsed through the biomes and found the eggs in the Desert. I got 2 more,

so my question is why did their biomes change?

Because I stated somewhere in the thread that I felt they would fit better in the desert than the alpine(these were removed from the completed list before biomes were released, I never got to state in the thread where they would go, and I was too shy to PM him). I think he noticed the comment and changed it because of that. Either way, I don't know for absolute certain.

The spriter said somewhere in this thread that she was surprised to see them in the alpine since she thought they'd be in the desert. She made them before the biomes came out so hadn't specified one. She posted again in this thread saying that she thinks TJ saw her previous post and then changed the biome accordingly. smile.gif

Here you go, Nectaris:

The fact that they are so long till they hatch is unusual for TJ, usually when he posts them they are almost ready to hatch.  I hope he does reduce their time till hatching, for right now as it stands my own will hatch before his do since mine are incubated.

I was surprised that they were released in the alpine, I was honestly expecting these to be a desert species, but I am happy they are released either way(yes, I recognize these).

They seem to have switched based on this post.

Because Nectaris then says this just after they switched:

Maybe he saw my post?  I finished these long before biomes were released, and I was too shy to contact TJ to say where I wanted them.

My computer is 10+ years old with a 34 gig hard drive (back when that was considered a HUGE amount of storage space). In other words, it's an antique... but I can catch dragons during releases just fine...takes a little effort, but I can get it done.
