TJ announced the beta for a site called Dino Cave, but we're still not sure if the announcement was a joke and Dino Cave isn't real, or if the joke was that he announced it on April Fool's to make us think it was fake but it's real.

Right now there are no codes to be found*, even with the people who submitted their e-mail addresses to the thing TJ linked in the post. They did get an e-mail, though, it's viewable on page 4.

*OK, well on Sunday there were a bunch of people who were claiming to have codes/accounts, but nothing was proven and it's safe to say that they were just carrying on the April Fool's joke.

This.

I pm'd someone for a code and they told me it was a joke. So I played along all day. Now none of us know if it was joke. I figured by end of yesterday that TJ would have said something one way or the other. Oh well. I had fun playing along with others.

Hmmm....I got an email, no verification but still....the email sounds suspiciously official...perhaps I was wrong...and the prank is that this is not a prank. xd.png Well played TJ, well played.

Hello all,

Dino Cave started off as a prank. Okay. Now go back and read that sentence again. Started off as. It was an amusing idea for a prank I had at 9 pm the night before April Fool's. There is no beta; in fact, there's not even any real code. The registration page is hard-coded to always give an "invalid beta code" error, and the login page will always claim the username doesn't exist.

However, you've probably all seen the proposed game mechanics. And from what I've seen, you like them. In fact, most people seem to enjoy the entire idea of a real "Dino Cave" site. So while I don't have any new site to release to everyone, I'm open to the idea of fun little "spin-offs" of Dragon Cave. Keep in mind that any spin-offs would probably receive a lot less attention than Dragon Cave gets. That's just a fact of life when there's only so much T.J. to go around.

So perhaps in a few months I'll be posting a legitimate big announcement. Stay tuned.

TL;DR: It's not real, but people seemed to like it, so it may become real. Besides, I need to do something with the thousands of rainbow Dino sprites I now have.

The new e-mail makes it feel even more up in the air. I agree with one of the posters on the first page. Real or not, I'm starting to not care.

EDIT: Oops, took to long to post. Thank you for letting us know.

Interesting.

But I'm still nervous about the future existence of my adorable Aquamarine Dinos :/.

Now I'm kind of looking forward to it. And actually, the idea that it would get less attention than Dragon Cave would make me more inclined to play it. I don't think I could do all of the large scale holiday/event stuff at two sites. I think that the color variation thing would be just enough to be a nice side project to this, while not being overwhelming.

Although I already want rainbow alts!

Rainbow dinos are even more entertaining than the prank. And I thought that was pretty dang entertaining. happy.gif Totally looking forward to seeing what comes of this.

(And thank you again, seriously, for a hilarious April Fool. It was entirely fantastic.)

Perhaps not telling us if it's for real or not is the prank?

If it is a prank I know people who'd like to spank him for getting their hopes up.

Check the last page. Dino cave started as a prank but, because of our interest we will maybe get Dino cave as a little spin-off Dragon cave

The joke was that people got so hyped up over a new site they caused themselves distress. I figured that's what it was and the email I got was pretty sarcastic. It played on what DC users liked and wanted more of.

But now it might just be made real, which really doesn't change anything for me. I might sign up, but I probably won't. I don't like dinosaurs and I really don't have time for another adoptable site it seems. It was amusing while it lasted though.

That part made me smile for some reason. XD

But woah, TJ actually went to the stage of creating all those sprites anyway for a prank that otherwise wouldn't have seen the light of day? Dedication. :P

When/if it comes out, I may poke around but most likely I won't really get into it. DC is enough for me and I never really cared much for dinos. x)

EDIT: Smileys. :u

There is no need to rage over this, really. It's just a game/pet site c:

Got a mail too. I was really hoping for a badge on my scroll, not a new adopt-type site, but oh well. That was confusing, I must say.

I don't know if I'll play DinoCave as intensively as Dragon Cave, since DragonCave is enough for me and I find it more interesting. Just look at this biodiversity. If on DinoCave are only recolors of five already existing Dino sprites (and that's what I assume after seeing the email)... then meh, I 'll choose to stick to my dragons.
