Cruzora wrapped a wing around Nixon in a sort of hug, nuzzling his neck for a moment. She released when he started talking about getting out. "No wonder you all are stumbling around in the dark!" She smacked herself, laughing. "I can help lead you guys out... I mean, I can still see alright. Not completely great right now but well enough to make out details."
Copper's tail flicked, the arrowed tip making an odd noise as it hit the ground. He flipped a small chunk of something, probably a shard, before settling. "K... well then let's get going!" Copper said impatiently. He had enough of spending his time in the dark.
"I can feel around a wider area if we need it... just in case Cruzora can't see something." Galant added, hopeful that the other dragons got out safely.

Doom flinched as she roared at him. "Sorry, I just, you know, need to get the feeling back into moving since it's been 200 years since I last moved a claw and to answer your question, no, I haven't." He said, leaving his goofy side at home for the day with no dinner and becoming serious.
--------------
Akula surfaced again and looked at the sky, noticing the blimp was gone. "Yay, they're gone." He jumped out of the water onto land and waddled towards the forest.

Ellen swore like a navy officer at the sight of her father's blimp caught on fire. The blimp was full of gas and would explode if the fire breached the helium tank in the center. Of course, there were pipelines full of helium that stretch across the frame that gave the balloon its oval shape. "James, I'm going to need you to cut the helium supply to the back of the blimp... AND GET US THE HECK BACK HOME!" She took one more shot at the green dragon that had by now slumped in the grass, if he was still here, she'd creep on foot and transport him back home. The shot was far, as the blimp had been turned around, but it was still a shot.
Ellen set her clockwork gun up against the side of the cockpit and grabbed a fire extinguisher. Opening up that hatch above her that led into the blimp itself, she took the extinguisher with her and climbed up into the balloon. Once Ellen was in the canvas balloon, she took the brass dagger that stayed in her boot and stabbed the red can, sending out bursts of the white foam. The lady ran across the gangplank that stretched along the width of the blimp and stopped when she got to the blaze that tore the canvas. She threw the fire extinguisher into the fire, knowing it wouldn't do much but every little bit was needed. A small explosion was heard and she saw a tiny portion of the fire was gone, white foam in its place. Sighing, Sgt. Ellen decided this that was enough for the day. Besides, they weren't far from her home. They could fly through steam, dampen the flames, then park it in the air docks before her dad even got home. All would be well... right? She crawled back throuhg the hatch and into the cockpit, landing squarely on her feets, her boots making a small thud. "Alright, James. Time to turn this creaking tub around."

~~~~~
Grublin winced as a third bullet found its way into his side. That woman... Would she ever give up? This was the third time she'd come to their home and shot at them. He got to his feet and walked into the forest, at least trying to get out of the sight of the humans on foot and in the blimp. He lifted his head and looked around, everyone seemed to be there... Even Farengar. Fiyara... where was she? He looked to the skies, she could handle herself. "Is everyone alright?" Grublin asked, holding his paw to his neck.
Meanwhile...
At the exit to the amber prison, barely breathing and heavily ill-stricken, Ashur was waking up. The toll of a 200 year-long stasis had taken more than its toll on the grey. His senses were dulled, body hurting and head spinning very badly.
'F**k -he swore quietly- 'I feel as if it's that morning after we broke out the ale and whiskey barrels again. -he added. Barely able to think, he somehow managed to stand up on all fours... Naturally, the first thing that came to his mind...
'Water. -...he mumbled and paced off towards the blurry representation of the pond he'd once known in the grounds.
Once he got there, albeit slowly and unsteadily, he dunked his head under the water and drank like a fish. His thirst quenched, he shook his head and groggily mumbled -'This concludes our broadcast day... good night... -and collapsed back down to one side while his strengths steadily recovered.
Nixon looked around and blinked a few times. "I'd be able to help getting out too, but... I guess my body's still weak from being trapped for... What was it?" He thought for a moment. "Like, 200 years? I can't even remember how long we were trapped... I just hope everyone else is okay. If you don't mind, guys, once we get out we'll either have to find my parents or my siblings... Even my grandparents. I want to make sure they're okay." He smiled a bit, standing up, getting ready to follow Cruzora.
"So we're gonna follow you, the dragoness who couldn't even walk a few steps before?" He chuckled, the dark hiding his goofy grin. "Well, your vision is probably better than any of ours right now... So I won't complain. Lead the way, m'lady."
Cruzora laughed, soon hiccuping twice. "Uh... I guess 200 years didn't get rid of my hiccups." She laughed again a little before standing and hoping to find a way out. "Galant?" The red's head twisted slightly. "Yes Copper?" He felt the young dragon stand as they started to walk. "Can you tell us a story to pass the time? Any story... even the one about that caterpillar." "Caterpillar? I- alright, random story it is." Galant answered as Cruzora led them along. He didn't remember telling anyone about the giant caterpillar who almost ate him as a teen living in the Forbidden Forest.
James cut the helium supply to the back of the blimp and grunted a bit as his scratches started to sting. "Hey Ellen, can you give me something to wipe the blood with, please?" He said to her quietly, the blood obscuring his vision slightly as he worked away at the controls, making sure it didn't get too close to the treetops.
--------------------
Akula entered the forest where the others were. "Glad they're gone." He said, sitting up against a tree and waggling his flippers in the air, trying to cheer everyone up a bit.
Sgt. Ellen pulled a lacy hankerchief out of her pocket, intending to let James use it, but then she looked at it again and stuffed it back into her pocket. No reason to bloody up her good snot rag. Instead she took a white towel from the washroom in the back of the cockpit and threw it at James' face. "So you came face to face with a dragon, eh? What was she like? The dragon, I mean. Lord knows I don't mean the many a mistress you must have. She looked like a rare one, shame I couldn't nab her." Ellen took a breath, resting the butt of her gun on the floor and leaning against the barrel. She looked back at james after blowing a misplaced strand of hair out of her eyes. "Good god, man, wipe your bloody face."
Vayli picked herself up, ruffling her wings as she preened after the crash landing she had endured with the lakeside. "Vayli Seleene." She said shortly, looking herself over with distaste. She had somehow managed to cover herself in soot and mud, and it looked garish in contrast to her inner glow. She stepped into the lake, wading until the water hit her thighs and spreading her wings out. "Gotta say, you look familiar too. Not that many magi with glowing red eyes." she commented idly, letting the water coll her taxed self down. She had used a bit too much magic a tadge too soon, but she could handle it! She was a magical powerhouse, after all. She looked towards the magi with a slight squint, before coming to a snap dash conclusion. "You ain't... Blakebroot, are you?" She questioned idly, looking towards Varaug with a slightly disinterested expression, as if she didn't much care for the dragon in question. In her eyes, he was an overconfident squirt, overestimating his true ability by over a mile and dozing on the limited talent he actually had; the destruction the magi had inflicted on blimp would have been a little out of his hands, say, two hundred years ago, but now, she wasn't sure whether he had finally gotten his act together or not...
Vayli smiled at the thought. A rematch with a competent Blakebroot... Now that would be a spectacle to behold! Or even to participate in!
She was practically trembling with anticipation at the thought...
'Vayli... Vayli, Vayl... -and then it hit him.
As if from yesterday he remembered the attack on the castle, but mich was still lost to him. That being the final moment he'd seen Vayli was all he had to go on for the moment. The rest was shrouded in a deep haze of his post-longterm dormancy illness. Still, Varaug knew she'd been a tad larger part of his past than just a comrade in the attack.
'You don't say, you don't say...That's a familiar name. And no, I'm not this... Blakeroop... Blakedoop, however you said it. -he went on calmly.
'In all honesty, I don't even remember my own name. But I'm certain it wasn't Blake...something. -he lied- 'One tends to forget a great many things after being incarcerated in a crystalline-type prison for who-knows how long. -he went on- 'But it could'a been worse... -the magi shrugged.
Turning his head towards the castle he let off a sharp whistle and shook his head.
'Someone played a really bad number on this place. Looks like it's been a while since then, too. I wonder how long, though... Do you have any idea? -he asked inquisitively and approached the lake to take a drink.
In the depths of time, deeper and darker than the depths of any cave or sea, her heart beat in the stillness.
One two three one two three
She slept, a strange sleep, not the sleep of the body but the sleep of the mind. It had been years since she had bothered to reach out to the other minds, the other pinpricks of thought and life and hope, around her; she concentrated only on preserving the one most precious to her.
One two three one two three
Life energy flowed from her, warmth pouring itself from one vessel into another. She had so little warmth to spare, but it was worth it. She barely remembered who she was or why she was, how she had gotten here. As for how long she had been trapped here, that had been the first thing she had lost track of, and she no longer cared. Keep the hearts beating, yours and his.
One two three one two three
It had been an eternity, she knew. There had been terror and sadness, at first, and then gradual acceptance, and then quiet contentment in the company of her friends and family. And then they had fallen asleep, one after the other. Sometimes they woke up. Sometimes she woke up. Sometimes they were even awake at the same time, and during those moments hope and life welled up inside of her. And then, slowly, the darkness and stillness crept back over them through the endless hours, endless seconds—ticktickticktickticktick—and it claimed them once more.
One two three one two three
She had thought to herself many times, and told the others many times, that their prison was a gift. After all, how many beings had the time away from the world outside to delve into their own minds, to find themselves? It was a gift, not a prison. She told herself that as the years wore on, until the cries and entreaties and silent madness of the other prisoners threatened to crush her, and she realized that the last thing one truly wants to find is oneself in the darkness. That was when she had fallen silent the last time, an eternity ago.
One two three one two three
The other cries and voices had eventually faded. She didn’t know whether they had actually fallen silent, or whether she had simply lost the ability to hear them. She didn’t know because she didn’t think about it, because it didn’t matter anymore. Only the heartbeats mattered, moment to moment to moment.
One two three one two three
Makrida?
One two three one two three stop.
It had been so long since she had heard the name that it took her a moment to realize that it was her own.
Vhirn?
Makrida, said the voice that had been silent for so, so long, longer than any of the others, with a clarity so removed from the broken, incoherent murmuring she’d become used to that it broke her heart. Makrida, we’re free.
And then the barrier shattered, and all became noise and light and cold and hope and fear, and the last thing she saw before her vision went black was her family, free once again.
And the world went dark, and she slept.
James took the towel and was about to wipe the blood away when he froze. He dropped the towel and dropped to his knees, his vision blurring. His breathing got heavy and after 10 seconds he collapsed onto the floor of the cockpit.
In his head, James was thinking about exactly what happened. "Might have been the dragon...or maybe i'm just an idiot who can't even kill a dragon?" He thought about it for a second. "Hmm...Why not both?" James then decided, with help from his not very usefull brain, that he was an idiot that can't even kill a dragon that got a face full of dragon claw.
Copper had ran ahead of Cruzora, much to her displeasure. The simple move caused him to smack into a few walls before Galant finally caught the adolecent with his wing. The old red resumed his story when a thud came from behind them. "Copper?" "Behind me. And it wasn't Galant's tail."
This caused the group to stop. "I can-" "You won't get out without surely running into something..." The odd black dragon saw Copper's body twist in despair. Maybe even a little fear as her eyes changed to their normal green-yellow color instead of the bright green light they gave off. "But we're so close!" He yelled, ignoring the change. Galant had mentioned that once Cruzora got older this phenomenon might happen. Unknown to either of the dragons, and possibly Nixon, her normal eyecolor now was more of a ambery silver that still glowed various shades of green, and more commonly red, in the dark. But Cruzora stayed away from the red so not to scare them.
Her tail flicked, smacking a wall. "I'm going to go look... follow if you want." She said as she walked back to the Amber Room.
Galant gave a confused look to Copper, who he knew would not really see it. "We all should go with her... it might be another dragon who woke up." Copper frowned. He wanted out of this dark deathtrap. "Nixon... ah nevermind. I'll go follow the glowing pair of eyes..."
Nixon wasn't paying attention to the conversation, his mind was elsewhere... Who trapped us? How's my parents? Niro, Batsuka... My silblings... I hope they're alright. Is our home alright? The humans, are they gone? He shook his head, almost bumping into a wall of the cave. Who even freed us?!
His thoughts were interrupted by Cruzora suddenly turning around. "Cruzora, what are yo-" he stopped when he heard Galant talking about another dragon, and Copper objecting going back in. "Copper, if you want to leave, you can leave... I just don't know what will await you outside. I'd go with you, but, honestly... I want to stay with Cruzora. I don't know what else could be down here." He nodded slowly and turned around, walking next to his mate.
"What's making you suddenly turn around, Cruzora?" He asked the black, tilting his head. "Did you hear something? See something? I know you normally don't change your mind unless something's up."
~~
Keisha quietly sighed, her wings drooping as she looked in the direction from where they came. "Hey... What's going on? What was that blimp doing here? The humans, are they still here? How the hell did we even get freed? WHERE ARE MY CHILDREN?" Keisha growled, laying down. She was obviously going insane, being trapped for over 200 years tool a toll on the guardian.
Vayli nodded, her face showing utter disappointment. Man, she had wanted that rematch... Listening to Vareaug's request, she turned her gaze to the ruined castle, frowning slightly. She examined the fallen castle, a distinct pang of regret in her heart. This place had been... Nice. She remembered large rooms and grand passageways, and to see it all gone as distinctly depressing. She shook her head. She had no idea. Frowning, she remembered someone who might... An old friend...
Greilac, to be precise. But she wasn't quite sure she wished to ask her friend exactly how long. She had found it a traumatizing experience, after all, and she hardly thought her friend would want to be reminded of it. Vayli chuckled, feigning jovility.
"I have no idea. It must have been quite a while, though..." She said in consideration, pushing her nose underwater and feeling the mud and soot start to lift off. She began to resist an overwhelming urge to dive in and roll around in the water, a fight she swiftly began loosing due to the lack of things to go against it. It just wouldn't seem proper? Why not?
--------------------
Fiyara landed with a slight jolt, flapping her wings and trembling slightly. How come it never got any warmer? She looked up at the weak sun, filtering in through the clouds, and silently bemoaned it for not giving out enough warmth. She had taken off int the sky, fixed upon crashing onto the blimp from above, and frost had consumed her, cold and unfriendly as the dark side of the moon. She must have dazed out for a moment, but for some reason, after it had ended, the feeling of chill had remained... She shivered slightly, hovering at the edge of the trees, glancing around the open ground with worry, searching for any casualties of the raid...
((Carn, they're coming to help you characters like I said could happen wink.gif ))
Copper followed the black-scaled pair, occasionally getting a friendly push from a large red tail.
Cruzora welcomed the company silently, warning Nixon of a rock he was about to run into. "I heard a thump noise... kinda like what Galant had done with his tail." She gave a heavy sigh, half wishing the castle was still back 200 years ago where they wouldn't be in this mess. "I figured it could be another dragon." She added, padding into the large room.
"Alright... well, we might as well look around. Come on Copper, let's check this way." Galant offered, walking off to the left as the smaller dragon followed far from his swaying tail. Open spaces tended to make the red's tail dangerous with or without the old dragon's knowledge.
Lifting his nose out of the water, Varaug gave the castle another wandering glance. The ruins seemed so familiar to him. But only the structure. Everything else in the area, felt alien to him. It felt.. desecrated.
He sniffed the air briefly and sighed. 'A while, and yet the place still wreaks of demons. -he said wearily and looked back towards Vayli- 'Where'd everyone go, anyway? I saw at least four other dragons earlier and now suddenly... -he shrugged and lied down, resting his head on his paws to relax.
He was injured, yes. He was bleeding, yes. It hurt a bunch, yes... but at least nothing was broken. His scrapes, wounds and bruises would have to heal on their own, it seemed.
This was really the first moment of peace he'd gotten since his release from his amber prison, not that it'd been a long time since then, but after a two-hundred year imprisonment, it felt like days for Varaug. His old home was now a ruin, his old life, a distant memory... All the memories of the dragons he'd once known were shrouded in a mist of confusion and uncertainty. He still couldn't even fathom how he'd survived.
=====================================================
Meanwhile... far into the distance, miles away from the grounds, within a dense forest-covered area...
'No more hunters, please no more hunters... -muttering under his nose quietly, was Raiden. He'd been roaming the area nearby the grounds for a while now, never certain where the castle really was located to hone in on it. He had no map, no guideline, no memories and no beacon to aid his trek through the unknown towards his first ever homelands, and yet still he pressed on, every day he'd done so for the last three decades...
The neo' was walking unsteadily, holding one wing folded in as tightly as possible, slightly askew from its normal position. It was, in fact, badly bruised, and unusable. Making his way towards a small clearing in between the trees, Raiden breathed a sigh of relief and stretched out the moment he got the chance to. He was never fond of enclosed spaces. Giving his surroundings a quick glance-over, he lied down to get a little rest.
Vayli considered this for a moment, tail twitching and splashing in the water, the orb on the end cleaning off of mud. Where had everyone gone, in fact? They'd probably run away from the blimp when the attack had come along...
She frowned. Why had they been running? The blimp had been taken out easily enough, and it had even been easy to get inside and blind everyone. She chuckled at that, a stream of bubbles coming from her mouth. They couldn't shoot if they couldn't see!
She sobered up, moving her head out of th water and taking a breath, glancing with an eye towards Varaug for a split second. It had only come down because he had come along and torched the whole thing, and he'd gotten hurt as a result. Now think what two blimps could do. or even ten?
"Probably ran off when the blimp arrived." She answered, rolling onto her back int the shallow water and closing her eyes, only her feet sticking up above the water. She paddled her feet in the air slightly, smiling as she realized she was enjoying this ridiculous exercise.
Grublin stumbled backwards a bit when Keisha growled loudly with her question. He wasn't strong at all, and she used to rule here... "Former caretaker Keisha..." Grublin said, dipping his head respectively.
"You have endured 200 years of stasis. You, according to our Lead Hunter, lived during the Medieval Era of time. We currently are now underway in the Victorian Era. The current year is 1816. Current month is April. We are in the area of the Outer Hebrides, or Eilean Star, Scotland. My name is Grublin, and what you saw is one of the many things we go through now. Humans raid us in their aircrafts, harvesting our hides and organs. Sometimes putting us in farms. Everyone new that you see has been able to survive thus far. The humans have gone. My comrade, Dvaros and I freed you by breaking the amber you were trapped in."
As to her last question... "I'm afraid I do not know where your children are, Lady Keisha... If anything, they have hidden out in the underground ruins, they should come to the surface soon if they stick to the dark-stone path." The green dragon staggered on his feet and had to sit down. He placed his paw to his neck again, trying to stem the flow of red that was running down his scales. "Where's Lydia...?" He mumbled.
Garinka looked up from trying to quiet Fusion, the insane dorsal had started to thrash her tail around, making a racket. She didn't know if the humans had left yet as she had not paid attention to Grublin's short speech. She saw the blood running down his neck and the color from his face paling. She stood up and looked back at Fusion, and seeing as how the dragon was off in la-la land again, she trotted over towards the green dragon.
"Well, first ya need to lay down on your sahd. Then ya need ta shush it and let me help ya." She pushed him over gently and took his paw off of the wound in his neck. With her healing magic, she extracted the long, sharp bullet. "Whot are they throwin' at us now? Porcupine quills?" The white dragon asked, unfamiliar with the new technology. She extracted the other two bullets and set them aside, wanting to examine them later.
With more magic, Garinka cleaned the blood away and wrapped a tight cross-hatching of blades of grass around the wound. Grublin gagged and tried to claw off the choker, but the white dragon smacked his claw and got to her feet. "Now shush it, youngun. See her over there? The dorsal? She's a leetle nuts in the nogin. So ya best be quiet around her unless you want a freak show on ya hahnds." She ruffled her wings, sending a few feathers on flight around her. "Where's tha living quaters around here now that our home's been destroyed? I doubt there's another twenty-four story castle in the immediate radius."
Grublin looked in the diretion of the two story fort and pointed with his claw. "Food and rest is that way."
"Well... Ya'll heard tha young'un. Let's go!" Garinka said to the others, pulling Fusion along with her as she headed for the fort.
Keisha listened carefully at the dragon who called himself Grublin, her head tilted slightly to the left. Her tail began to thump nervously on the ground, the shield making small indents in the dirt as she was being caught up on what was going on. Former caretaker... Is there another Guardian of the Grounds now, or did they give that up once the humans took over... With a sigh, the guardian dragon nodded her head slightly at Grublin, realizing that his wounds were pretty bad. She was about to offer on helping with it, but Garinka already was taking to his problem.
Well, she is a nurse after all... I'll just sit back for now. Keisha looked over at her mate, sighing at his blank expression. "Doom, listen. Since the humans are gone, I'm going to go look for Roran, Cynder, or Sunny. I need to know if they're alright," she paused, slowly sitting up and spreading her wings. She was screwed if she came in contact with a blimp like the one she saw, still a bit weakened. "If you would like to come with me, you can, but... If not, I'll meet you over there," she pointed at the fort that Garinka and Fusion were headed towards, "later, okay?"
